A/N Again, I'm sorry for the late upload. I'm really trying my best but life has been tough. I'll always upload a chapter eventually with the only thing that will stop me is if I die. If i decide to abandon a story, I'll come out and say it instead of leaving you all in the dark. I'm going to upload this chapter today, with another tomorrow to make up for my slacking. After that, it should be back to normal. Again, I'm sorry, but enjoy the chapter anyway!
Chapter 20: ...or a silent creeper...
"No... Not again. Why don't you just leave us alone?!" Mono screamed out to the thin man. The man in question ignored him and began to chase once again, prompting Mike and Chara to grab him and force him to run away.
"Less whining more running!" Mike exclaimed. Mono huffed but followed them.
"Where did you even take us?!" Chara demanded. Mono glared and shouted back that he didn't know. "Damn... Well, work your television magics again! We can't run forever!" Mono groaned and looked around. They seemed to be in another old and abandoned house, but the layout was much more decayed and destroyed then the one they came from, allowing them to jump right out of a hole in the wall to the streets below. This fortunately slowed the thin man down, but they knew he'd be back for more soon. "We need to get as much distance between us and him as we can..."
"I know... I know... Just let me think..." Mono thought for a few moments then spotted something that caught his eye. "Psst. Over there, see those viewers huddling around that old store?" Mike and Chara glanced over to see what he was pointing at and sure enough, there was a small group of viewers staring at some televisions nearby.
"I don't think they're gonna be too keen on helping us man..." Mike mumbled.
"No, not them. The TV's. If we can get them away from the TV's, we can hop through them again and hopefully put some distance between us and... whoever that is." The others sighed a bit. It wasn't the best plan... but it was the only one they had. "If only we could turn those TVs off from a distance..." It was then that Chara tapped his shoulder and offered him a large piece of plastic. "...A remote? Where did you find this?"
"Its a tv shop. They're everywhere."
"Oh... I guess that makes sense... Anyway." Mono took the controller and aimed it at the TVs then turned them off. This almost immediately angered the viewers and they started to chase them.
"Great. You ticked them off. What now genius?" Mike asked.
"We run!" And so they did. They quicky turned tail and headed the other direction. "Stay close and follow me!" They then quickly cut through a building and hopped out a window on the other side. They had effectively made a full circle and was back at the television store. Mono then turned back on the tvs as fast as he could and grabbed the others then hopped into the TV with them. They hopped out the other side but was immediately dropped over the edge of a building and the only thing keeping them from falling was Mono's coat. Mike and Chara clung tight to the coat while Mono held on for dear life to the edge of the building. "I'm sorry!" Mono cried out. But before either could reply to him, they felt the world slow and distort. The thin man had returned, and he was hovering ominously over Mono. "No..." Mono glanced down at the others, who looked at him with fear in their eyes. Mono glanced back up at the thin man. He had to chose whether to die at the hands of the thin man... or the fall below them... He gulped and took a deep breath while closing his eyes. He let go, and the three of them cascaded down the building. The landing was hard, and it hurt a lot, but they would survive... if it wasn't for the thin man already meeting them at the bottom. Mono glanced up at their adversary and glared under his bag. He was tired of being chased, tired of not being able to help his friends. He stood his ground and stared down the thin man. When Mike and Chara came to, they looked and saw Mono and the thin man... battling? It was so strange and abstract, but it got stranger from there. They noticed that Mono had taken his bag off, his flowing black locks in the wind was strangely majestic. The thin man was closing the distance, but Mono was doing a good job of keeping him at bay, but things got interesting when player three entered. Everything stopped. Nobody made a noise, the distortion was gone, and only an eery silence loomed over them in the streets. The dark figure that had killed the teacher and the doctor was back, and he was standing behind Mono, Frisk, and Mike, but his focus was on the thin man standing opposite him. The two titans stared at each other for what felt like an eternity while the confused and scared kids backed away slowly. Only the howling wind filled the street. The two stepped closer to each other, as if studying one another. The silence was deafening, but it almost as if they were having a conversation... a non existant one, but a conversation none the less. The trio decided that this was wasting too much time.
"Mono... give me the remote." Mike whispered. Mono didn't ask questions. He handed the controller to Mike as slowly and quietly as he could. Once it was in Mike's hands, he aimed it up in the air and started pressing buttons. This caught the attention of the two as they snapped their heads in the kid's directions. But no sooner had any of them even so much as drew a breath, they felt the ground begin to rumble. The very earth shook and quivered and in the horizon, a storm was coming. And that storm took the form of hundreds of thousands of viewer enraged that their TVs had been shut off. "RUN!" Mike commanded as the flood gated opened and the glitchy viewers descended upon them. The kids ran as fast as they could towards the tower as the two entities tried to follow, but were quickly swarmed by the viewers. But they were quickly and efficiently dispatched by the thin man and the dark figure. The thin man dissipated them into nothingness, reducing them to little more than piles of clothes while the dark figure just killed them with eerie efficiency. However, it was a lot of work to do, which gave the kids more than enough time to get away, but unfortunately, many viewers began chasing them, and they were fast.
"We're not gonna make it! What do we do?!" Chara asked. Mono glanced back and gulped as he saw the horde of viewers gaining on them. He then looked at the tower, which was so far away... but maybe... maybe it didn't have to be. He grabbed onto Mike and Chara and focused with all his might on the tower. The two looked at him, a bit confused, but then the world started to fold and bend, with each overlap brought them monumentally closer to the tower and put massive distance between them and the viewers. In no time they were right outside the doors of the radio tower.
"How did you... do that...?" Mike asked, but Mono seemed too groggy and tired to reply. Not wasting any time, Mike and Chara helped Mono inside and closed the door behind them for good measure. They'd get answers soon.
A bit later
Piles of viewer bodys topped the thin man and the dark figure. The crushing weight would have killed most people, but in the mass of flesh and clothes, a figure broke free and stared back at the gore behind it. The figure saw the elongated arm of the thin man under the bodies before it slowly dissipated into nothingness. The figure stood there, starting at the flesh and the thin man's remains dissapear. After a while, the figure turned its gaze towards the tower, studying it. Every stone did not go unseen by the figure, the light at the top was noted, but enough standing around. The tower was the next destination; the figure began to march.
