Note: Today we take a step into Liyue to see the intertwined lives of Keqing and Ganyu.
First Love
It started off innocently enough. Keqing had never let the Gods influence her, so when she was elevated to the Qixing, her dedication to her work was simply expanded to involve all of Liyue. But the most surprising thing was not the endless bureaucratic paperwork that a single Rex Lapis decree brought on, but rather Ganyu, the principle secretary shared by him and the Qixing.
For the first few days, Keqing did not notice anything irregular about the principal secretary, but her suspicions were soon roused when the latter arrived at work everyday with the exact same hair ornaments. Not that she was exactly innocent in that respect, but even her own meticulous dressing at did not match to Ganyu's perfect placement of those horn-like things in her hair. Unfortunately, her initial investigations turned up nothing, and between the need to understand her own position and the sheer volume of information that was coming in everyday kept her too busy to continue that line of thinking.
Until a few month later, when Ganyu was caught in a forgetful mood, and apologized for it by citing her own advanced age as the reasoning. This caught her by surprise again, the principle secretary did not look any older than herself, and Keqing certainly did not think that the latter was lying even if the two of them had elevated exchanges about the Rex Lapis. This could only mean that she had adept blood within her; and then it clicked. Ganyu had to have some amount of qirin heritage, and with the prominence of those horns, she guessed that it was at least a quarter, perhaps even half.
Her suspicions were quickly validated when Ningguang took her aside one day to explain Ganyu's heritage. Keqing suddenly looked on the half-adept in a new light; here was someone who had seen the beginning of Liyue, who can help her understand why the Rex Lapis only speaks once a year, and never more. Curiosity peaked, Keqing started to take note of the principle secretary, watching her at work. Why would latter have such devotion to a God that appears so rarely?
One day, during a rare vacation days given to the Qixing, Keqing caught a glimpse of Ganyu making her way slowly, almost airheaded-ly towards the hills outside of town. There she found the latter sitting on a rock, with her legs sprawled out on either side, staring into the distant mountains. The blue-haired girl was completely unresponsive to her initial attempts to strike up a conversation, and it was only when she plopped herself directly in front that Ganyu noticed her presence.
"Ah - Miss Keqing." Ganyu's voice was soft, distant, as if she was still dreaming, "I was simply looking out into the mountains, perhaps that is where my home lies?"
Keqing looked at the half-qirin, her own mind in overdrive as she tried to reconcile this softer version of Ganyu with the organized and hardworking principle secretary she saw everyday at work. Before she could think much harder about it, her left hand reached out to take Ganyu's right,
"I ... plan to explore all of Liyue. To understand its full potential. - " after a moment's hesitation, she smiled to the other girl, "You will join me to help me take notes."
