Chapter 7
Gossip normally swirled around the Hamato compound on a near daily basis. Spreading like wildfire and not stopping until something else caught the attention of the foot soldiers, before starting all over again. Right now, though all Bradford cared about was meeting with Xever at the time that they had agreed on.
Bradford's eyes scanned the hallways as he leaned into the shadows of the crevice that he had chosen. Every so often, a grunt would pass by, walking with a friend or by himself at a casual pace. A
He hated everyone of them.
He was the greatest marital artist of all time. Bradford had multiple comics, dojos, and adoring fans all over the world. He even had a couple of cartoons and movie deals out there for crying out loud! And here he was, pretending to be a loyal Hamato soldier for teens that were too distracted to even focus on his lessons and were far too stuck up for his own brand of martial arts. They thought his was inferior.
Bradford growled angrily but quickly disguised it as a cough as a foot soldier gave him a curious look. He nodded in greeting before slinking further into the shadows.
The hallways were deserted for a few moments before hurried footsteps could be heard. Bradford tensed, ready to sock whoever was heading his way.
That is, until Xever rounded the corner.
"Damn it, Xever. You're late."
"Cool it, amigo. It's not like you've got other shit to do than take care of those brats."
"Oh, we'll take care of them alright, just as soon as you get me what I need."
Xever smiled as he handed a Bradford a folded-up envelope. Bradford weighed it, his eyebrows furrowed.
"Don't worry. It's all there." Xever assured him.
"It better. You know the Boss man doesn't like when someone doesn't do what they're supposed to."
"Hey, we're all on the same team here, okay? We both want Yoshi and his brats to pay for the years of humiliation." Xever glanced around him anxiously. Bradford did the same, feeling as though he was being watched.
But the halls were clear.
"I'll see you around, Xever. Remember: keep your head down and don't do anything stupid. We don't need anything that could jeopardize the plan."
Xever nodded. They bid each other good night before going separate ways. Something in the ceiling shifted, catching Bradford's attention as Xever shuffled down the hallway. Figuring it nothing, he shrugged it off and made his way towards the lab where Stockman was waiting.
