Intermission 1: Training Video
"Hello! My name is Victor Underson and I am the CEO and President of the Pokemon Parental Center organization. Congratulations on being selected to join the PPC family! We are always happy to find dedicated works and only the best candidates are selected to handle this endeavor. I'm sure you're anxious to get through this video and into the action, so we'll run through the basics." Victor announced, the video feed shifting to that of what appears to be a white room with various medical tables, all with different ones. The camera zooms in on a table that showed a lady doctor and a Gallade dressed in a nurses attire. A Dewott was on the table, it's usually perky whiskers drooping down with eyes that looked dead inside. There were various bruises on its legs and side as the camera made the picture clearer.
"What you're seeing here is the cruel aftermath of an abusive owner. The Gallade is there to act as a translator so that the doctor can try and properly console it. Much like a human going to a psychologist, Pokemon can suffer the exact same issues. Since most Pokemon have a lower brain capacity than a human, tending to its issues is none too complicated, but it can be tricky. With these Pokemon, we put them up for adoption after completion of the rehabilitation, we make sure to make very careful background checks to ensue that the new owner is a good person," Victor explained, his hand guiding the camera to the next patient set. Sitting there was what appeared to be a Feraligatr and an instructor. Behind the instructor is a white board chart matching pokemon sounds to the english language.
"Most of the time trainers and Pokemon have a way of communication through feelings and sounds, however, some pokemon are born with an inability to comprehend feelings clearly and can often believe nothing but negative emotions are delivered by the trainer. For these poor souls, for the sake of themselves and their trainers, we take a path of rehabilitation that teaches the pokemon how to speak English. It's a very difficult process with some pokemon having more developed vocal abilities than others. This particular Feraligatr here lost its ability to comprehend feelings after it evolved, which left it confused and frustrated during battles and downtime," Victor stated. The camera pans in on the Feraligatr, looking frustrated as it tries to form words through its unintelligible tones.
"Raw...raw...rawrd...hard...this...is...hard..." The Feraligator managed to get out, the instructor handing it a treat as a reward. The Feraligatr looked delighted as it found itself making progress which in turn made Victor smile on camera.
"Its very rewarding work. With every success, the arrendant on hand gets a bonus for a job well done plus a warm heart from doing the right thing, however...as sad as it is to say, it's impossible to fix every Pokemon, with many becoming far too hostile or feral to rehabilitate. Fortunately, we are a cruelty free organization and would never put down a pokemon. Instead they go through very special treatment often involving medication and hypnosis therapy. Through these extreme lengths, they often become residence of the organization, becoming diligent partners to the staff. My wife, Diedre, is in charge of these troubled cases. Ah, speaking of..." Victor stated, and older woman appearing on camera, she looked to be a few years older than himself. She smiled kindly at the camera through a pair of thin framed glasses, her eyes a dim shade of magenta.
"I am Dr. Deidre Underson, co-founder and lead researcher of the PPC organization, for the next half of this instructional video I will be taking through the extensive testing and therapies for the much less docile patients admitted," Deirdre stayed firmly, sliding I glasses up her nose. Suddenly, the video cut to black. A strange, bellowing sound came over the speakers, the viewer finding themselves in slight disarray. A single light from overhead shined down in the middle of screen, highlighting the good doctor. A strange, mischievous smile was upon her face as she gestured to the side with her hand. Another light suddenly popped on, highlighting a doctor's table where an Infernape could be seen thrashing against full body, steel restraints.
"As you can see, this Infernape has clearly lost its sense of domesticity," Deirdre said with a small chuckle, flames engulfing it as it struggled against its restraints as hard as it could, growling and crying furiously. Deirdre turned towards it, her smile still on her face as she began to simply stare at it. The Unfernape's fists began banging on the table as its expression began to faulter, as if fighting against drowsiness. In minutes, it's eyes became entranced, it's body coming to a halt.
"Once the patient is docile, we bring our specially trained Hypno to condition their subconscious for work. No matter how much this is done, there's always a chance they can break the mental lock, thus why they can't be allowed to be adopted or released. After intense conditioning, depending on their reactions, we prescribe medications that we mix into their food to keep them under control. Depending on the Pokemon type, we either put them in a private living area or find a job that suits them within the organization. If they are a desired breed however..." Deirdre paused, turning to the camera. She then slowly removed her glasses, sliding them into her coat pocket before locking her sights on the camera. She continued to grin, her eyes dimly glowing red as she stared, as if gazing into the soul of the viewer. A curtain opened up behind her, revealing a Lopunny that was bound to her seat, a blindfold over its eyes.
"They become a commodity for people to bid on, their special 'training' being the appeal..." Deidre stated. In the blink of an eye she vanished, a maniacal Mismagius appearing where she once was, it eyes glowing red.
"Now when I count to 3, this part of the video will be hidden within your mind, ready to be triggered at any time we deem necessary. Thank you again, and welcome to the PPC family...1...2...3..." Mismagius smirked, upon saying the word three, the lights of the video all came on with the Mismagius being replaced with Dr. Deirdre once more. With a kind smile she waved at the camera, the video turning off soon after.
