Summary: Instead of being at the museum during the day, may and Eric go at night and encounter the Kids getting the Energon Harvester
"You sure this is a good idea?" Eric hissed. Maya would've rolled her eyes and gave her brother an exasperated look if the two Assassins were crawling through a rather tight and dusty air vent.
Instead, Maya just snapped back quietly, "Well, you should've said something if you thought it wasn't."
She heard Eric grumble something under his breath, but she let it go when she realized they were right above the security office. It was a simple task that stemmed from the discovery of the many Masyaf Artefacts at the museum a couple miles outside of Jasper, Nevada. They snuck out of their Aunt's house about an hour earlier and drove back to the museum to liberate the artefacts. However, Maya wanted to liberate something else before they left; an orb, so similar to an Apple of Eden that she didn't want to take the risk and leave it here for the Templars to snatch.
"Hand me a knockout dart." She ordered.
"Why didn't you bring any?"
"I'm no arguing with you right now. Hand me the dart, damn it!"
Eric, again, grumbled but complied. Maya smiled sweetly at her brother as he handed the dart to her and she slid it into a modernized version of a blow gun. She turned and shot the dart through the air vent, smiling to herself as the guard jerked in surprise, slap the dart as though it was a mosquito before slumping against his desk.
A moment later, Maya was at the security desk, shutting down the cameras while Eric placed the unconscious body of the security guard against the wall.
"What room is the orb in?" Eric asked as he stalked over to where Maya was furiously typing. Her steel-grey eyes flittered from screen to screen desperately searching each one as fast as she could manage.
Finally, she gave a little shout of happiness before saying, "Room eight, in the west wing." She answered.
"Alright." Eric glanced around the room for a moment. "I'll go and get that. You stay here and make sure that all the cameras get turned off and all evidence of our presence is erased."
"Heard." Maya absently said, her fingers all but flying over the keyboard, her eyes glued to the screen.
One by one, Maya viewed each and every single inch of the video before putting them so far in digital space that it would take someone with an IQ of one-thousand and hacking skills beyond hers and Shaun's to even find them. She buried them so far down that they would never see the light of day again.
Maya was almost finished when movement near the west wing caught her eye. Quizzically, she pulled up the feed, figuring she was going to catch Eric moving as fast as a shadow, only to be surprised and shocked to see three teenagers fumbling through the darkness.
She was even more shocked when she noticed that her cousin Jack was among them.
Hear pounding, Maya deleted the last of the video feed and dashed out of the office.
"BROTHER!" She shouted into her comm. Almost immediately, Eric answered.
"What is it?"
"Jack and two other kids are in the West Wing!"
"What in the name of Juno and the First Civilization is Jack doing here?!"
The annoyance and frustration was clear in her brother's voice.
"Hell if I know!" Maya shot back at as she ran at top speed down the hall, skittering and sliding a few feet as she turned the corner.
She was almost there.
"Just make sure you stay outta sight!" Silence was the only response. Maya halted in her tracks as fear coiled through her. "Eric?"
"I'm not sure this thing's an Apple, Sister."
Maya breathed a sigh of relief at the sound of her brother's voice, though it was a low whisper. It had the hairs on the back of her neck standing razor straight. Maya's heart was pounded heavily in her chest. Without another moment of hesitation, she ran at top speed, pushing her body to its limit.
However, she skidded to a stop when she saw what was going on.
Outside the large bay-like windows, a battle between several giant robots was going on. Maya was too rooted to the spot, too shocked by the scene outside the museum to notice Eric hidden on the other side of the room, attention seemingly torn between watching the fight going on and literally rocking the building to watching the group of kids, which did include her cousin Jack, slowly remove the giant orb from the statue of Poseidon.
Maya dashed to the shadows quickly when she realized that she was exposed. Her brother followed suite, dashing right next to her.
"What do we do?" She whispered to her brother.
"I don't-"
"DON'T MOVE!"
Both Assassins whipped their heads to where the shout was coming from and their blood froze.
Five men, all wearing Templar Crosses on their sleeves, ran in, their high-powered weapons pointing at the frightened kids. Maya glanced at her brother, his face an expression of horror. Her heart hammered in her chest before everything fell away. Eric his normally warm grey eyes, hardened, turning cold and dark.
There wasn't a word said between them as they rushed out of the shadows prepared to fight.
