Amity's POV
The first notes of Beautiful start playing.
Amity was getting walking through the halls of school writing in her dairy."
"Dear Diary:
I believe I'm a good person. You know, I think that there's good in everyone, but—here we are! First day of sophomore year! And uh... I look around at these kids that I've known all my life and I ask myself—what happened?"
The students around her start to sing.
Freak! Loser! Bug-eyes poser!'
Amity closed her eyes and began to sing.
"We were so tiny, happy and shiny
Playing tag and getting chased"
The kids around her continue to insult one another.
"Singing and clapping, laughing and napping
Baking cookies, eating paste!"
Then we got bigger, that was the trigger
Like the Huns invading Rome!"
She accidentally bumps into a student.
"Oh sorry!" She goes back to singing."Welcome to my school, this ain't no high school
This is the Thunderdome
Hold your breath and count the days, we're graduating soon. College will be paradise if I'm not dead by June!"
Amity then sang softer. "But I know, I know, life can be beautiful
I pray, I pray for a better way
If we changed back then, we could change again
We can be beautiful..."
Then Boscha approaches her.
"But just not today" Amity said flatly. Boscha George my "best friend" every since my parents forced me to end my friendship with my actual best friend Willow." She then put on a fake smile and turned to Boscha.
"Hey Amity you're still coming to my party right?" Boscha asked.
" yep. Wouldn't miss it!" Amity said.
"Hey babe!" A guy said leaning on Boscha. she runs and gives him a kiss.
Amity sighs in annoyance "Kurt Kelly. Quarterback. He is the smartest guy on the football team. Which is kind of like being the tallest dwarf"
"I gotta go" Amity said walking away.
So I didn't use the whole song because it doesn't fit the story line I'm going for. But as we can see Luz and Amity are having very different experiences in school.
