"Okay, careful," Sonia said softly, helping Leon slowly to his feet.
He bit back a pained groan before laying his head on her shoulder, the urge to fall asleep stronger than ever. He barely slept through the night, the poison was still stuck in his system, despite Sonia using her only antidote on him. She was cursing up a storm when she realized she had none left, mumbling on about how she's always stocked with supplies. His stomach continued doing flips as they made their way out of the tent, his legs barely holding him up. He could hear Hop asking if he'll be okay, but his voice sounded far away as he began slipping back into the darkness. He hated that Hop had to see him like this, he was supposed to be strong for him. Yet, he had decided to leave them all, including his pokemon to hunt down the man that caused them the emotional pain they were all in.
"Leon?"
He blinked away the black spots, trying to get himself to wake up. He just stared at them and shook his head, giving in to the intense sickness he felt. He didn't bother fighting it anymore as he collapsed, welcoming the darkness.
"Thank Arceus for Charizard," Sonia said as they reached the center, relieved they could finally get him help.
Leon was barely breathing as Charizard landed, the concern clearly written on the pokemon's face as it stared down at its trainer. Sonia and Hop carefully grabbed Leon and carried him as Ash had Charizard return to his Pokeball, knowing how protective it could get of Leon. The nurse didn't ask any questions when she saw them, she immediately got to work, getting an IV line started to get the antidote straight into his bloodstream.
"Good thing he's out cold," Hop voiced. "He's difficult when it comes to needles."
Goh raised an eyebrow, "The great champion is afraid of needles?"
"Yeah, always had the phobia of them. Mom said he would have to be pinned down when he was a kid, he was poisoned a bit as a kid."
Sonia chuckled, "I can believe it. I can't tell you how many times he would piss off a pokemon and either get poisoned, burned, or just knocked out."
"Mr. Leon is resting now, needs to give the antidote a few minutes to begin its work but he should make a full recovery. His injuries from the Darkest Day are far from healed though, please make sure he wait this time? I've wrapped that man up several times now," the nurse sighed, giving them a pleading look.
Sonia laughed, "I'll set Charizard on him next time."
"Thank you."
A few hours went by before Leon woke up, this time the pain was almost non-existent, and the effects of the poison were pretty much gone. Taking a deep breath, he slowly sat up, wincing a little as he irritated his injuries from fighting Eternatus. Blowing out another breath, he relaxed against the pillows, relieved to have some sort of positivity right now. Looking to his side he was shocked to see Sonia, Ash, Hop, and Goh all sleeping in the chairs. A smile stretched along his lips as he fully relaxed, those dark emotions melting away.
Despite the argument, despite losing, and despite everything else, he knew he could always count on his friends and family to be there for him.
