Hey guys, Orion_7 here. I think that DITF was an amazing anime, despite some...specific things that aren't worth mentioning. I though that the story wrapped up beautifully, but the story that was set up by the ending was too good to be left as just an ending. So here is my take on a DITF season 2 story. Enjoy!

"Zero Two...we're becoming one. Now you are me... We're probably going to disappear soon but the path we walked on, others will take it from here... I love you, Zero two"

Hiro sprung up from his bed in a cold sweat, panting heavily as his sight came to him. This wasn't the first time Hiro had had this kind of dream. They had become more frequent in the past few years, happening on an on and off basis. It was always something similar to the next, seeing glimpses of blurry faces moving about, but there was always one that appeared in every dream, a blurred face with what he could assume was beautiful pink hair. She was always there in his dreams, and the ironic thing was, he already knew someone with beautiful pink hair...

"Man, that dream again...I still have no idea what it even is," Hiro quietly said to himself as he laid back down his his bed.

Hiro stared up at the ceiling in his moonlight room. Before long, he got restless. Hire stood up, wearing nothing but a pair of navy blue boxers, and walked over to his bedroom window and opened it.

Gleaming before him was the utopian city of Mistilteinn, named after a place that he had learned in his history class a few weeks prior. It beauty sparkled under the moonlight sky, complimenting the stars that shown above. What made this view so great to him was that it gave him the perfect view of the Giant Sakura, a massive tree sitting on a lone hill in the city park. That was the place where he first met her, his closest and dearest friend.

"Heh...I wonder if she ever has dreams like mine..." Hiro said to himself as he gazed out his window

"And you are me... It doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as we have souls, I'm sure I will meet you again on Earth and we'll pick up where we left off... I feel the same. I love you, darling."

Iota, much like Hiro, shot up in her bead, panting heavily and drenched in sweat. She threw he bedsheets off of herself and sat on the edge of her bed, holding herself up with her hands on her knees.

This wasn't the first time Iota had had this kind of dream. They had become more frequent in the past few years, happening on an on and off basis. It was always something similar to the next, seeing glimpses of blurry faces moving about, but there was always one that appeared in every dream, a blurred face with what she could assume was wavy black hair. He was always there in her dreams, and the ironic thing was, she already knew someone with wavy black hair...

Iota stared at the ground in her moonlight room. Before long, she got restless. Iota stood up, wearing nothing but a pair of bright pink panties and a bra to match, walked over to her bedroom window and opened it.

Gleaming before her was the utopian city of Mistilteinn, named after a place that she had learned in his history class a few weeks prior. It beauty sparkled under the moonlight sky, complimenting the stars that shown above. What made this view so great to her was that it gave her the perfect view of the Giant Sakura, a massive tree sitting on a lone hill in the city park. That was the place where she first met him, her closest and dearest friend.

"Hmm...I wonder if he ever has dreams like mine..." Iota thought to herself as she gazed out her window.

Unbeknownst to both of them, those dreams meant more to each other than they could even fathom. They weren't just dreams, they were memories, memories tucked deep within their souls...

Memories that still existed because of a promise they made...

A promise that they would find each other again...

And love each other again...

The two friends cooled off, and both of them, still thinking about each other, drifted back off to sleep.

The next day...

Hiro was woken the by the repetitive chirping of his alarm clock, same morning routine as always.

That is if waking up at 9:00 in the morning is considered routine. For Hiro, it was. After all, her was on summer vacation.

"(Yawns)...mmm...is it that time already?" Said Hiro as he lazily got out of bed, his vision still fuzzy from waking up.

Hiro stumbled tiredly over to his dresser and grabbed a pair of sweatpants he left there the day before. He then trudged over to his open closet and grabbed a random T-shirt from one of his hangers, and put it on as he walked out of his room and down to the kitchen.

Hiro could smell breakfast waiting for him in the kitchen, and as he reached the bottom of the stairs, he saw the usual sight of his mom cooking breakfast on the stove. His mother, hearing him enter, turned to face Hiro and gave him one of her usual warm smiles

"Good morning sweety. I made eggs again today, so I hope you don't mind," said Hiro's mom as she tuned back around to continue cooking his breakfast

Hiro's mom was named Mireya Juuroku, and as far as anyone could tell, Hiro was lucky as hell to have a mother like her. She had beautiful long, silky black hair, and her shape and size for a woman of her age was phenomenal. All of her friends said that she had the face of an angel, if they actually existed that was. As for Hiro's father, his name was Takage Juuroku, but he had died in a transit crash when Hiro was 10, around the same time that he met her...

"Morning mom, thanks for...(yawns)...cooking me breakfast again," said Hiro as he slumped down into his chair

Noticing that Hiro looked considerably tired, her motherly instincts told her that something was off.

"Hiro, is there something the matter dear?" Asked Mireya as she dried the dishes

"I'm alright mom...I just had another one of those dreams that I told you about before," Hiro mumbled

"Are you sure you don't want to go see a therapist? Every time you have one of those dreams, you always seem like you're no longer yourself. I'm starting to get worried for you," said Mireya with a frown

"I'm fine mom, trust me. It's going to take more than just a few dreams to get under my skin," said Hiro with a reassuring smile

"If only you knew mom, if only you understood just what they mean to me..."

This made Mireya smile, as well as drop the subject of her son's dream.

"Oh, by the way, Iota called your com earlier this morning. You left it on the table last night, so you weren't there to pick up"

"Oh, I'd didn't even realize that. What was she calling about?" Asked Hiro

"She wanted to know if you would like to go out to lunch with her today, she seemed like she was in a pleasant mood. I would hate for her feelings to get hurt if a certain somebody didn't show up," said Mireya with a sly smile

Hiro chuckled and shook his head.

"That Iota, always knowing how to put me in a good mood..." Hiro thought to himself while still smiling

"I'll call her back after breakfast, we can figure out a time to go eat."

And Hiro did exactly that, after he ate breakfast, rinsed his dishes, and got dressed into some proper clothing, he called up Iota to ask about lunch

"Come on Iota, don't tell me you're busy already!" Hiro thought to himself as he listened to the dial tone continue

Suddenly, Iota's face appeared on Hiro's communicator pad, her cheery smile greeting him like the sun peeking out from behind the clouds

"Hey Hiro! How have you been so far? Are you enjoying your summer break?" Asked Iota with a smile

"Seriously, its only been a week and a half since we last saw each other, and yet you're already acting like we've been apart for months," said Hiro, returning her smile

"Awww, don't like that Hiro, you know how boring it can get when you're not around"

"Am I really that exciting? As far as I'm concerned, I'm just a normal high school kid after all," said Hiro with a flattered look on his face

"Oh please, I know that you really appreciate what I just said. Anyways, I'm assuming you called because you want talk about our little situation," Iota said

"Yea, what time works for you best? I was thinking we could meet up at the Great Sakura at 1:00 and then walk to lunch. I'm not really busy, so I'm down for whatever time works for you"

"Great, 1:00 sounds perfect, I was thinking we could go to that new cafe that opened up next to Franxx Memorial Courtyards"

"Really, you mean the one that's like, not even a high school track's length away from the Genista Memorial?"

"Yep, that's the one"

"Huh, I wouldn't mind going there. Besides, with you there with me, it's bound to be entertaining enough," said Hiro jokingly

Hiro saw Iota blush a bit with embarrassment, but then she put on her usual alluring face

"Wow, I didn't know you though of me that way," Iota said with a low, sadistic tone of voice

"Oh please, you know what I meant," said Hiro with a chuckle

Iota was about to disconnect when Hiro remembered a question that was lingering on his mind for the past few weeks.

"Iota, wait!" Hiro shouted quickly

"Hm? What is it Hiro?" Asked Iota

"How's...how's your klaxxoriosis? Has to gotten any worse?"

It had practically become normal for Hiro not to comment on the red horns growing on Iota's head. The horns made her who she was, and though he never saw them when they first me, he dint care when they started growing, because they made her who she was. The horns in particular were the product of a genetic condition called klaxxoriosis. There was no known cure for the condition, but the condition itself wasn't harmful. In fact, on top of the horns, it also cause the subject to exhibit enhanced physical attributes.

No scientist in the world could explain what cause klaxxoriosis, but what was known about it was that it was the abnormal increase in yellow blood cells in a human's body. There were many speculations about the condition, but none had been proven. For as far as anyone knew, it could have been a parting gift from the Klaxxosaurs, given before they retuned to the earth after the end of the two year VIRM war.

"Hiro, you know that klaxxoriosis isn't harmful. Now I know what you're getting at, people with klaxxoriosis aren't thought fondly of. After all, we are a reminder of the Klaxxosaurs. Even if they helped save our planet, they were still the ones to cause the old world to fall apart, even though it was humanity's fault in the first place. I told you already before, I'll always be okay," Iota said reassuringly

Hiro smiled warmly at her, causing her to do the same in response

"Alright. Well, I'll see you at 1:00"

"I will, and dont be late!" Said Iota cheerfully as she disconnected

Hiro got up out of his chair and walked over to his mirror. Once in front of it, Hiro raised his hair to reveal two blue horns hidden underneath.

"Oh Iota...you make it sound like such a good thing..." Hiro said to himself, followed by a heavy sigh

Hiro walked away from his mirror and layed down in his bed, staring at the ceiling. Hiro wondered about the things that Iota mentioned. The Klaxxosaurs, the Franxx, all of it. One thought however plagued his mind, and unbeknownst to him, a certain someone had the same exact problem. All of the things that they learned about those fateful days from a millennia ago...

Why did they seem so...

...Familiar?

"Eh, mind as well catch a few more winks of sleep before I go to lunch with Iota. I'm still exhausted thanks to the dream anyways," Hiro thought to himself

Hours later...

And with that thought, Hiro slowly drifted off to sleep once again.

"And I called you a monster! Now we're even!"

"If Zero Two can't smile for me, than I might as well be dead."

"The distant skies. Beyond time and distance. An overwhelmingly long journey just for the two of us. You're a part of me. I'm a part of you. I'll remember your warmth, along with the memories we've made together. I'll never let you go again!"

Hiro's eyes quickly opened as he sat up in his bed.

"Huh, another one of those dreams again..." Hiro said as he looked at his clock

12:45...

"Dammit! I'm gonna be late!" Hero yelled as he quickly put on his shoes

Hiro quickly ran down the stairs, with his mom sitting at the table waiting for him

"Where are you off to so quickly? Don't tell me you fell asleep and are now going to be late for your lunch with Iota?" Mireya asked with a sarcastic tone

"That's exactly what happened, so no time for chat, I don't want to lose my life today, okay goodbye!" Hire said as he hastily grabbed his jacket and ran out the door

As the door closed behind him, a smile came to Mireya's face

"Look at our boy Takage, he's still as hilarious to raise as ever..."

Hiro ran down the sidewalk at a breakneck pace. He knew first hand just how mad Iota could get when you don't hold up the end of a deal, a promise, ect. He had done it once, and he didn't want to do to again.

Hiro dodged peopel on the sidewalk, cut across the streets whenever he could, even going as far as hitching an unpaid for ride on a transit, all so he could get to Iota on time.

Hiro looked at his watch

12:59

Hiro looked in front of him

The Great Sakura was just up ahead

Hiro ran as fast as he could, as fast as his legs could carry him. Using all his might, Hiro made it to the tree.

Hiro looked at his watch

1:00

Right on time

"Iota...(heavy breathing)...I...I made it!" Hiro said between breaths

"You did. Right on time as well"

Hiro looked up to see Iota sitting on one of the branches of the tree, smiling down at him.

"Iota, you cant be up there! You know what'll happen if someone catches you," said Hiro worriedly

"I know, that's why I only let you see me," Iota said with a giggle as she hopped down from the branch, gracefully landing in front of Hiro

"So, shall we get going?" Iota said with a cheerful smile

Hiro looked at her and smiled back

"Yea, lets go"

The two of them began their walk towards the Franxx Memorial Courtyards, where their lunch destination was waiting for them. They walked past all of the buildings and the shops, keeping each other occupied with playful banter and funny stories. In between their goofing around, they walked silently, admiring their city. What they had learned in their history classes told them that it was because of two special people that all of this was possible. The life the had was because of them.

"You know Hiro...its amazing to believe that all of this was possible because of two people and their sacrifices," said Iota in a quiet tone

"Well, that is what the history books say. One millennia ago, two Parasites bound by their undying love for each other, gave their lives to save this planet and humanity from the VIRM. Honestly, whoever those two were, they must have been some pretty special people," Iota said while looking down at the ground

Hiro looked down at her and smiled

"Who knows for sure, but you know what I think?"

Iota looked up at Hiro, expecting to say something that would surely amazing to her

"The way it sounds, I think they were just two kids in love who didn't want to loose what they had fought for."

Iota wasn't disappointed

"Wow, I didn't expect that kind of answer from you. Are you sure you Hiro, and that I didnt grab some random stranger from the under the tree?" Iota said in a joking tone

"Oh come on Iota, give me a break," Hiro said with a sigh

Iota just giggled, and upon looking up, she realized they had made it to their destination.

"Look Hiro, there it is!" Iota said happily as she pointed at the small cafe

Hire looked at the comforting little cafe, and yet his vision slowly made its way to Genista kneeling idly behind it. It was almost as if he was drawn to it.

Hire didn't have time to think about it, as he was being dragged by the arm by Iota. Hire decided not to think about it until after their lunch. All he cared about was spending time with his closest, dearest friend.

Rooftop-100 yards away...

"Corvic, do you have eyes on the targets?"

"This is Corvic, I have eyes on possible targets 016 and 002, they are in Franxx Memorial Courtyards, copy"

"Confirmed Covic, sending a team to assist you in apprehension of the targets, over"

"Affirmative, I'll be waiting on standby for the time being, have the team alert me when they are in the area, Corvic out."

The man named Corvic observed the two teenagers, watching them enjoy their time together from a distance.

Corvic lowered his binoculars and leaned against the ledge he was watching from, and let out a heavy sigh

"I still can't believe it..." said Corvic

...

...

"Could it really be you?"

Well, that's the end of the first chapter for this story. I hope whoever reads this enjoys the work. I hope you'll wait till next time!
