A/N: In honor of...MY BIRTHDAY ON SEPTEMBER Today! EEEK. I'M OFFICIALLY 31.
WHEW. I'm writing this chapter on the very new rose gold macbook air my baby sister brought me. I had to retire the ole' gal but it was so worth it. Anyway, I love you all.
CHEERS TO THE NEXT PHASE OF MY LIFE.
ENJOY THIS CHAPTER. I'M DONE WRITING IN CAPS NOW, LOL.
Sorry you guys about the confusion earlier, it was a mistake. This is the correct chapter. Please disregard that previous post, and I took it down.
Ana smiled when she felt kisses on her neck, and cheek.
"I know you're awake, wife."
"No, I'm not, I promise."
Christian's chuckles caused Ana to shiver in pleasure. She ran her hands up and down his naked back and wrapped her legs around his waist. Christian rolled them until she was on top. It was then that Ana opened her eyes. She saw a very relaxed Christian Grey looking up at her. She slowly sat up and astride him before she smiled down at him.
"Hi."
"Hey," Christian said, running his hands up her sides, holding on to her hips. Christian gently pulled the sheet off Ana so it pooled at her waist. He traced her breasts and cupped them before resting his hands over her stomach.
"How do you feel?" He asked.
"Good. I'm a bit tired, but that's normal. Especially after last night's activities."
Christian smirked.
"I know. And I don't want to be considered an overbearing jerk, but I need you to rest for me okay? For the baby as well."
Ana nodded.
"Okay."
She stared at Christian and when he continued to look at her in wonder, she blushed.
"What?"
Christian sighed.
"I just never thought we would get here."
"I never thought we would either," Ana said honestly. The two were silent until Ana spoke.
"How soon do we have until you need to be back to Seattle?"
"Not for at least another two weeks."
Ana looked surprised.
"Two weeks? Isn't that a long time?"
"I wanted to take some extra time off to be with you. I think you and I needed to reconnect. We can return to Seattle after a couple of days, but I won't be going into work until then."
Ana smiled.
"I'm glad. I know you need to work, and I'm not ungrateful for what we have, but I do want to spend some time with you."
"Well, for the next several weeks it will be you and me."
They quickly showered, and got dressed before they left the hotel and walked down the street. Christian followed Ana and it wasn't until they were seated that Ana noticed they were alone.
"Hey, Christian?"
The man looked up from the menu, his sunglasses still on his face.
"Yes?"
"Where are Sawyer and Taylor?"
Christian smirked.
"They didn't want to come."
"What?"
Christian lowered his gaze back to his menu.
"They were upset with you. You left while at the gala and to not become unprofessional, they opted to sit this one out. I had to hire a new team to watch me while in Amsterdam."
Ana instantly felt terrible. She was about to apologize, and ask to speak with them when she saw Christian take off his sunglasses and his eyes lit with merriment. Ana glared at him.
"Very funny," she said, causing him to laugh.
"It was funny," Christian said before waving a waitress over. Ana sat back and watched Christian as he ordered them both something to eat for lunch. She didn't care what he ordered, as they'd been together long enough for Christian to know what she likes. Ana was really watching her husband, because she'd never seen him this relaxed. When the waiter walked away Christian asked Ana what was on her mind.
"I am just amazed. I have never seen you this relaxed. It's nice," Ana admitted. Christian sighed.
"It is. And I know that the stress was very much on my end." Christian sobered up for a moment before he rested his arms on the table.
"Tell me Ana, honestly. Did I make it difficult for you to tell me to relax? Or even about your health?"
Ana studied his face a bit before giving a slight nod.
"It's not that you made it difficult. It's just that with everything that was going on it was hard to talk about it. And then I would hear about your business deals, and how busy you were and I always thought that it would have to be later. My health problems weren't that serious."
"But they were, Christian said, hand on hers. "Ana. I probably didn't make that part clear but I love you so much. And I cannot have anything happen to you. I need you to be healthy and happy because that makes me happy as well. I withheld things from you, yes, but only because I didn't want to add too much stress on you. The stuff with Elena and my past was heavy. And it was more than I thought you could take."
"Whether I could take it or not you should have told me."
"Yes, I should have. Just as you should've done the same."
Ana gave a slight nod as their plates were set on the table. She thanked the waiter and when he left Ana resumed.
"You're right and for that I apologize. I guess we were trying to help each other and ended up hurting one another."
Now it was Christian's turn to study her.
"Yes," he finally said. The two began to eat in a surprisingly comfortable silence. When they were finished, Christian looked at Ana towards the sea as he spoke.
"I remember being in Elena's basement. And being so scared. I thought it was terrible but from what she told me I thought I deserved it. I was giving my parents so much grief. I could see the look in Carrick's eyes. It wasn't until now that I realized the look on my dad's face was helplessness. He didn't know what to do or say to me, and now that I think about it, if I were in his shoes I wouldn't know what to say either. That pain I went through I know now wasn't what should've happened to me. I still thought in the back of my mind however, I was doing what needed to be done. I hadn't experienced that much fear and pain until when you left me weeks ago," he said, finally turning his gaze on Ana. She saw the tears that filled his eyes. Although Christian didn't say another word, Ana knew what he was trying to say. She wiped her own eyes before getting up and sitting on his lap. She kissed him once before pulling away and smoothing his face.
"I'm sorry. I love you, and I'm sorry. I promise to never run again. I will come and talk to you about any issues that I have."
Ana felt Christian squeeze her waist a bit tighter. She never thought she would look into his eyes and see the vulnerability he was showing her.
"You have to promise this, Ana. Because I don't think I could survive you living apart from me. I am tough when I need to be. But my heart, you're the only one who I will fully entrust it to."
Ana was moved by her husband's simple but heartfelt words. The only thing she could do was swallow before nodding. She hoped her gaze conveyed what he did. That she wasn't going anywhere. That she wanted to be with him forever and always. Christian must've saw what he needed to see because he gave a slight nod before patting her backside gently.
"Now. Are you going to show me around?"
Ana understood his need to pull away from the heavy emotions, and she offered him a smile.
"Of course. I've been waiting for you to find me anyway. I want to buy some more books, but I was withholding because I didn't want to use any of my cards too soon."
Christian snorted out a laugh before they stood. He pulled her close and kissed her neck.
"Lead the way."
A short one I know but I gotta go back to my party! LOL the next chapter will feature Christian meeting Leila and Jack. Then we gotta have the couple return to Seattle. Love you all!
