Enter Siblings, Exit Haunted House
Part Five:
"A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts"
After Mike reappeared, Moe and Larry both disappeared, prompting Shemp, Jenny, David, and Mike to split up and search for them. While Mike and David went off to search for Moe and Larry, Shemp and Jenny confessed their feelings to each other and preferred to take things slow with each other. David suddenly vanished, only to pop up in a torture chamber adjacent to another room where Moe ended up and a dungeon where Larry ended up and to meet a skeleton that talked with a southern accent. Upon finding each other, the trio were startled by Mike and later met up with Shemp and Jenny, who were in the process of kissing. Tempers quickly flared between David and Mike, prompting Jenny to tell everyone that they were all exhausted, tired, and nervous and that they should all go back to bed. Now, after she opened a door, a tall figure was growling at them from the shadows. Question is: What or who is that tall figure? Find out!
(Flashback to part four)
"Well, all that matters is that we are all back together." Shemp said, trying to lighten the mood up.
"Yeah, so why don't we go this way." Jenny opened another door.
Suddenly, there was a tall figure, about the same height as David, standing there and growling at the group.
"Nyaaa! Ahhhh! Ahhhh! Ahhhh!" Moe's hair rose for a brief moment.
Larry's pant legs rose up for a brief moment, before he let out a scream.
"Hee-bee-bee-bee-bee-bee!" Shemp was terrified by what he saw.
"L-Leave it to Jenny to open the wrong door!" Mike's teeth began to chatter.
"Or any door to be exact!" David muttered.
(Now)
The figure in question was the mummy that was previously seen in his sarcophagus in the room full of stuff from ancient Egypt. By the look of this mummy, he was not happy that these occupants had disturbed him.
"The mu-mu-mu-mu-mummy!" Mike jumped into David's arms, shaking like a leaf.
"Get off!" David dropped him to the ground.
"David, what do we do?" Jenny turned to her brother.
"We? You mean what do you do?!" David folded his arms.
"Me?" Jenny asked.
"Yes, because you opened the door in the first place and you probably disturbed his tomb." David retorted.
"But-but.." Jenny was cut off.
"You brought him in, you take him out! He's your problem." David pushed her toward the mummy.
"I think I speak for some of us when I say that we run away!" Moe ran to another door, followed by Larry.
"I think we'll go, too." Jenny, Mike, and Shemp said in unison, as they ran to where Moe and Larry were.
"You guys have got to be kidding! You're all afraid of this?" David scoffed.
The mummy growled at him.
"Kiddo, get over here now!" Shemp said.
"Yeah, David." Jenny motioned for him.
"No, I'm staying put and I am going to show you all that this 3,000 year old mummy is not scary at all. In fact, I'd say it was someone trying to scare us." David started to laugh.
Angry, the mummy punched him right in the jaw, knocking him down.
Moe, Larry and company got bug-eyed for a moment and waited for David and the Mummy's next move.
"Oh, wise guy, eh? OK, put 'em up!" David got into a fighting stance, clearly feeling challenged by the mummy.
The mummy stared at him and tilted his head to the side.
"That's usually my move." Shemp whispered to Jenny.
David punched the mummy in the gut, resulting in a loud noise that sounded like a metal garbage can being knocked over. The mummy slapped him across the face. David, in turn, slapped the mummy across the face and pretty soon this turned into a cycle.
"Oh for goodness sake! David give it up! The mummy is stronger." Jenny rolled her eyes.
"No, he isn't." David said, before he bonked the mummy on the head and poked him in the eyes.
The mummy stumbled backwards and fell down.
"See? I told ya!" David sounded a bit cocky and celebrated his seeming victory.
However, the mummy got up, grabbed a sword, and slowly walked up to David. Seeing this, Jenny, Mike, and the Stooges tried their best to warn him by hand motions.
"What? What're you all trying to tell me?!" David was thrown off and completely oblivious to the fact that the mummy was behind him with a sword.
'Don't turn around!' Mike mouthed.
"What?" David asked.
'Come over here!' Jenny also mouthed and motioned for him.
"What?" David asked, again, this time a little louder.
"Kid, look..." Moe started.
"Out!" Larry and Shemp pointed behind David.
"What? Whoa!" David turned around and ducked just in time when the mummy swung the sword at him, nearly decapitating him.
"See? That's what we were trying to tell you." Mike folded his arms and scoffed.
"Who asked you?!" David ran over to Mike and slapped him.
"Ooh! Cut that out!" Mike rubbed his face.
"Hey!" Jenny punched David in the shoulder.
"Oh, wise one, eh?" David slapped her across the face.
Jenny slapped him back and pretty soon it became a cycle.
"Break it up, kids. Break it up." Shemp pried them apart.
"Is that any way to behave?" Larry asked in a parental way.
"You asked that twice, lamebrain." Moe conked him on the head.
"Hey! Let him alone!" Jenny rapped Moe on the nose.
"Who are you rapping on the nose?!" David slapped her, again.
"Hey!" Mike kicked him in the leg.
"What're you butting in for?!" David poked him in the eyes.
The mummy growled at them, causing them to run off in all different directions. Mike and Jenny ran into a closet and locked the door, While Moe and Larry ran into another room and his behind big barrels. Surprisingly, David and Shemp ended up in what appeared to be a mad scientist room. On a table were a bunch of beakers filled with liquids. By the look of the liquids, they looked as if they were just poured right before the two men walked in. While Shemp looked around, David walked over to the beakers and looked at them. Apparently he was thirsty, because just as he was about to take a sip from one of the beakers, Shemp stopped him.
"Don't drink that stuff, kid." Shemp grabbed the beaker.
"Whadda ya mean don't drink the stuff? I'm thirsty." David protested.
"What if there's poison?" Shemp suggested.
"Well, I won't know until I try." David shrugged, as he slowly put the beaker to his lips.
"I guess you're right, but still, it ain't worth poisoning and possibly killin' yourself, now is it?" Shemp tried to take the beaker from David.
"I guess you have a point. Still, my throat is parched and my thrist needs to be quenched." David still held the beaker near his mouth.
"Well, how's about we get out of this room and go to the kitchen where you can get some water. How does that sound?" Shemp still had his hand on the beaker.
"OK, I guess." David reluctantly set the beaker down.
"Atta boy." Shemp patted him on the back, before opening the door and walking out.
David went to follow Shemp, only to return to the room and drink from a beaker. So far, nothing happened. Then, he tried the second beaker. Again, nothing happened. He grabbed the third beaker and sniffed it, as it smelled funny.
"Bah! He's just scared. I'll show him that nothing will happen." David whispered to himself, before drinking from the third beaker.
However, unlike the previous beakers, after the liquid was ingested, it hit his stomach hard, making the sound of a fire alarm going off. Afterward, steam came out of his ears and David had a coughing fit, before everything seemingly went back to normal.
"See? Nothing happened." David said to himself, before he left the room in order to join Shemp, who oddly enough was standing in the hallway with his arms folded.
"You went back in there? Didn't you?" Shemp asked.
"No." David was clearly lying.
"David." Shemp gave him his "really?" look.
"Shemp, I.." David belched loudly before he could finish the last part.
"Let's hope nothin' bad happens." Shemp laughed it off, before going into another direction.
David shrugged, before following Shemp into that direction. Meanwhile, in another room, Moe and Larry were searching for the others when a laugh could be heard. Startled, Larry jumped into Moe's arms.
"What's the idea, porcupine?!" Moe looked at him, clearly annoyed.
"I heard a laugh, Moe and it didn't sound like just any laugh!" Larry was shaking.
"Look, kid, you probably heard the wind. After all-" Moe was cut off when the high pitched laugh could be heard again, this time louder.
"See what I mean?" Larry's eyes got big for a moment.
"Yeah, let's find knucklehead and the others." Moe put Larry down.
"I'm with you." Larry went over to a door and opened it.
"Nyaaa! Aaaahhh! Aaaaah!" Moe's hair raised when he saw a ghost standing there laughing. He then straightened his hair up and ran off.
Larry screamed and followed Moe. As the phantom chased them through the hallway, inside the closet where Mike and Jenny were, they stayed hidden as they heard screaming. Knowing Moe and Larry were in trouble, Jenny made a move to the door knob, only to be seemingly stopped by Mike.
"What?" Jenny gave him a weird look.
"I didn't say anything." Mike replied.
"No, you grabbed my arm." Jenny told him.
"J-Jenny, that's not my hand!" Mike was shaking.
"Then, who's-" Jenny stopped mid-sentence when she got a good look at the hand, "Ummm, Mike, wh-who do-do we know with a hand that looks like armor?!".
Mike was so scared that he couldn't get a word in edgewise and instead, just stammered and shook like a leaf. Jenny turned around and the moment she saw glowing eyes and what appeared to be a haunted suit of armor, she let out a shrill scream, before opening the door and running off into the darkness, while Mike went pale and fainted. The suit of armor or the black knight as it read on a label above it, grabbed a sword and took off after Jenny. Jenny ran through the house screaming her head off, alerting David and Shemp to the point of running in the direction her screams could be heard. However, David started getting tired and sluggish. Noticing this, Shemp ran over to him and put his hand on his shoulder.
"You OK, kid?" Shemp asked, while trying to calm David.
"No, I'm exhausted from all of this running." David was breathing heavily and even sweating.
"Exhausted? We've only been-Wait a minute. I warned you to not drink from those beakers. Now look what's happening." Shemp gently scolded him.
"I know. I'm sorry. I should've listened." David put his hand over his rumbling stomach.
"Let's get you to a chair and a glass of water." Shemp put David's arm around himself and put his free hand on David's side, before guiding him down the hallway.
"Sh-Shemp, I think you'd better go on without me." David weakly said.
"Kiddo, you know I can't just leave ya." Shemp looked at him.
"Shemp, I'll be fine." David insisted.
"Well, I'll go and get Jenny and the others. You just stay right here." Shemp told him, before going off to find Jenny and the others.
However, he stumbled across a hallway with multiple doors on each side. Knowing that he had been in that scenario once before, he waited for something to happen. Then, as if on cue, Moe, Larry, Jenny, and Mike finally showed up and bumped into Shemp.
"Hey! What's the idea of standing here?" Moe sounded annoyed.
"Moe, Larry, Jenny, and Mike, boy am I glad to see you all." Shemp started.
"Shempy, I'm always glad to see you." Jenny ran up to Shemp and gave him a peck on the cheek.
"She's never glad to see either of us." Moe turned to Larry, who nodded in agreement.
"Wait, where's David?" Mike looked around for his brother.
"That's just who I want to talk to you all about. You see he-eeee-eee-eee-beee-beee-beee!" Shemp got a scared look on his face.
"Hey, opera singer, this is no time for singing." Moe told him.
Larry looked behind himself, screamed, and grabbed Moe's arm when he saw what Shemp saw.
"Let go, numbskull!" Moe slapped Larry.
Mike grabbed Moe's other arm and screamed.
"Now, kiddo, you're too old for that." Moe gave him an annoyed, yet weird look.
Jenny hid behind Shemp and held onto him like a lifeline.
"What's the matter with all of you? There's nothing behind me." Moe folded his arms.
A finger tapped him on the shoulder.
"Just a minute. I'm scolding here." Moe briefly turned around, then turned back to Shemp and company, "Now, I-Shemp, was that either the black knight or the mummy or the phantom or are they all behind me?".
"They're...all b-behind you." Shemp gulped hard.
"I thought so." Moe paused, before he screamed and ran into one of the doors.
Shemp, Mike, and Jenny ran into the other doors, prompting the monsters to go into the doors. Pretty soon, everybody started chasing each other until Shemp noticed something and called for time out.
"What is it, Shemp?" Jenny asked.
"I think I have seen this before." Shemp started.
"What's that, lamebrain?" Moe chimed in.
"We're going to continue going through those doors until we start to chase each other." Shemp pointed out.
"That's crazy." Larry brushed him off.
"No, Larry, for once Shemp has a point." Moe told him.
"Yeah, but-" Larry paused and looked around for a moment, then back at Moe, "Where's David?".
"What're you lookin' at me for?" Moe folded his arms.
"He's out in the living room area. He didn't feel so well." Shemp replied.
"Oh, he's always not feeling well. He's a baby." Mike brushed it off.
"Nah, I think he actually doesn't feel well." Shemp had a look of concern.
Out in the living room
David started getting hot flashes that were so bad that he had to take his shirt off. He fanned himself and drank about three full cups of water. However, nothing was cooling him down. Suddenly, he noticed his fingernails were black and hair started forming his hands. Horrified, he stood up and looked into the mirror. He saw hair beginning to cover his body little by little.
Uh Oh!
