In the ambulance, Scooby kept his eye on Courage as he was fighting for his life. He kept twitching every five minutes, as cold sweat was dripping down his face. It made Scooby felt very alarmed but also relief that the twitching meant he was still alive.

He turned and look at Muriel, Scooby could clearly see the worry gaze in her eyes behind her glasses. He turn backed to Courage, guilt pained in his stomach.

This is all my fault. He thought as tears threatened his eyes, he didn't wanna cry in Muriel, this will only alarmed the old lady even more. He should of help him. If he help him battled against Katz and Le Quack, none of this would of happened.

Scooby felt anger toward Katz and Le Quack, they're the ones who harmed Courage! How could anyone hurt a dog as sweet as Courage!? Even though he met him only a few hours earlier, he felt like a little brother to him, like he felt like a brother to Shaggy. and considering him apart of the family.

Scooby looked out of one of the two small windows of the ambulance, and saw the sun peaking from the sky, he realize it was almost morning. From the looks of outside he realize they arrive at their destination.

The paramedics grabbed the stretcher Courage was on and rolled him out of ambulance and into the doors of the entrance of the hospital. Scooby and Muriel got out of the ambulance, and looked at each other with worried glances. All they can do now was wait.

If there was one of the things Scooby hate and fear was, the hospital. The smell of the medicine made his stomach churn. He could he people crying or moaning in pain, and he could hear nurses and doctor barking orders at each other. Scooby really hated doctors in general. His biggest fear was the doctors, ever since when he was a puppy, he remember crying and screaming every time he had to get a check up.

Shaggy always awards Scooby at end, with a promise to give him all of the Scooby Snacks he could eat. Normally he would go find a cafeteria to get his mind off of doctors, but he was way to concern with Courage to eat right now.

Muriel and Scooby had been waiting in the waiting room for almost twenty minutes and had not said a single word.

Finally Muriel broke the silence, "I remembered when Courage was a wee pup."

Scooby picked up his ears, as he glanced over his shoulder, and saw Muriel looking exhausted from the whole night. Scooby attempt to comfort the elder when she spoke again.

"The first time I met him, was by an old vet building were he was just a wee puppy. All alone, cold and hungry."

Scooby raised his head and turned his body as he looked at the elderly lady. Muriel was looking at him with, weary eyes she had looked drained from the long night they all had. And something got his attention, what did Muriel mean by that?

"I didn't want the poor thing to grow up all alone." Muriel said quietly.

Scooby stared at her silently, how did Courage wind up like that? Was he abandoned as a puppy?

"I made my mind, I wasn't going to leave him to defend himself." Muriel explained. "I named him Courage, for he was brave to be there all by himself."

Scooby couldn't believe of what he was hearing, how many days or weeks has Courage been all by himself as a puppy? Where were his parents? Scooby remembered when he was a puppy, he was a first upset and crying at the thought of leaving his parents, but if he hadn't left he would of never met Shaggy. That was one of the best moments of his life. Just how along was Courage by himself, so many questions ran through his mind.

"He was such a wonderful dog." Muriel continued, "such a wonderful lad."

Muriel than talked to Scooby about Courage's whole life with her, and how he always saves the day and over come obstacles. Scooby felt bad for Courage, how along has he manage to do all the things by himself, was it all because of that meteor? That pup deserves better than that. And he felt helpless of what's happening right now, he desperately hope that Courage will get through this.

Muriel had ran out of things to talk about, and once again she and Scooby were silent. It was about an hour, before a nurse came in to greet them.

"Hello there, are you two ready to see your dog Courage?" The nurse asked them, as she flipped the pages through her paperwork.

Muriel and Scooby immediately got up and ran to the nurse.

"Yes, is my Courage okay?" Muriel said, almost afraid to answer.

"Well according to the test results, he suffered severe head trauma, has some deep cuts and bruises from the collapse from the wings of the windmill." The nurse said, as she scribbled on her clipboard. He's also in a coma, but I can assure you both, that he's gonna be fine."

Scooby and Muriel sighed with relief, this is the news they wanted to hear.

"C-can we see him?" Scooby asked.

The nurse nodded, "you both can go to her room. He's down the hall in the room 157."

"Oh thank you." Muriel said, as she and Scooby went to go and see Courage.

Scooby and Muriel arrive at the room 157, they gave each other one last glance and took a deep breath before Muriel opened the door, apprehension of what they would find gripping them both.
