Hey guys, thank you so much for the reviews, it's so good to know that you're enjoying this one, thanks again :)
Part 2
Kara stood in front of her mirror, trying out different outfits and hating each one more than the last.
Alex sat watching her whilst idlily flipping through a magazine.
"Found one yet?"
"No and they all look too...safe." Kara moaned.
Alex's eyebrows went up at that.
"Safe? Why would it matter if it looked safe? You're just going out with a friend, right?"
Kara nodded as she bit her lip.
"Yeah but this is...Lena Luthor. I mean, come on Alex, she's a billionaire and I'm-"
"Kara Danvers." Alex cut in softly.
Kara turned around and looked at her sister as Alex reached out and took her hand.
"The kindest, most caring, brilliant sister I could ever hope to have. Lena can see that in you too."
Kara gave her sister a warm smile.
"Thanks Alex. You always know what to say to cheer me up."
Alex shrugged, still with that kind smile on her face.
"It's a gift."
Kara went back to trying on different outfits when finally she settled on a pale blue sweater, dark blue skinny jeans and brown boots.
Alex nodded in approval when Kara turned to show her.
"Very nice. Lena's gonna love it-as a friend would." She added quickly.
Kara nodded and gave herself one last look in the mirror.
Finally she smiled at her reflection.
Lena waited nervously outside the venue, looking for the town car.
She had told James to pick Kara up at six and James was always punctual so why was he running late?
Was it Kara? Had she changed her mind and decided she didn't want to come tonight? Or had Lena been too forceful and it had scared Kara?
Lena's heart began to race but then she saw James pull up and Kara step out of the car and then her heart started racing again for a whole new different reason.
Lena smiled at Kara brightly as the blonde walked towards her.
How did someone who dressed so casually manage to make it look so good?
Here was Lena, in her black leather pants, tight black top which showed off her assets to the best of their ability and high heels making Lena appear a lot taller than she already was, so much effort gone into this look and yet Kara seemed to provide the quiet, beautiful femininity purely by just being her.
Lena would admit, she was in awe of her.
"Hi." Kara said brightly as she stopped in front of Lena.
Lena found that she couldn't take her eyes off of the blonde until she finally realised she had to speak.
"You look lovely tonight, Kara." She was aware that her tone had dropped and her eyes had lingered a little too long on Kara's fitted pale sweater but at this point, she didn't care.
Kara glanced at the noticeboard, showing all the movies that were on tonight.
"So, what are we watching?"
Lena quickly reminded herself that she was out with a friend-a friend she was trying to seduce- but a friend all the same.
"Oh it's a thriller. It's got great reviews, I'm sure you'll love it."
Kara nodded with a bright smile.
"I'm sure I will."
The candy selection was calling out to Kara but she didn't want to seem immature in front of Lena but Lena was observant, very observant.
She gave Kara a kind smile.
"I was thinking we should get some, maybe share a bag? What do you think?"
Kara smiled.
"Sounds good."
Lena nodded and produced a credit card.
"I'll get our tickets. Pick what you want just make sure to get me some of those red vines. I love those."
Kara smiled.
"Sure."
Kara watched as Lena went to the counter and started choosing the candy, shovelling it into a bag as she went.
Lena was more laid back than Kara would have expected; she knew she was kind, caring and attentive at work but outside of work, she was more so.
Kara found that she could relax around Lena. It made her happy to know she could.
Lena on the other hand wasn't as relaxed.
She handed over her card to the cashier and the cashier smiled at Kara just behind her.
"She looks happy."
Lena glanced at Kara as she picked up what she wanted.
"Yeah, I uh, I hope so."
The girl grinned without showing her teeth.
"First date?"
"Kind of- I mean no! No we're...we're friends." She amended quickly.
The cashier let it go and handed Lena her tickets.
"Enjoy the movie."
Lena gave her a shy smile.
"Thank you."
Lena watched as Kara rolled the top of the bag and looked at it with a certain kind of satisfaction; like she'd made the perfect selection and was pleased with herself.
Lena sucked in a breath and walked up to her.
"All good?"
Kara nodded, that bright, pleased smile lighting up her whole face.
"Yep. I feel very confident in my choices."
Lena couldn't help but chuckle at that; the girl was adorable.
"That's good. Red vines?"
"Of course." Kara confirmed with such a serious look that it had Lena laughing all over again.
They took their seats and sooner than Lena had anticipated, the lights went down a little and the trailers started rolling.
Kara watched with interest and even though the trailers seemed pretty good, Lena found that she couldn't stop watching Kara; her eyes, the way they lit up behind her glasses at something she liked, the way her mouth quirked when she found something amusing, she was mesmerising.
She wondered what Kara looked like in the mornings, when she had just woken up, no make up, hair a little messed up from sleep; Lena bet she looked amazing.
"Lena?"
Lena blinked and found Kara staring straight at her.
"Yeah?"
"I said, is there anyone I might know in this?"
Lena shook her head as if trying to clear it and then smiled.
"Uh, probably not but it's still a good film."
"I'll take your word for it." She whispered as the lights went all the way down and the film started.
Lena started to feel more nervous but Alex had said to her to be a little more dominant. How could she do that when Kara made her feel so weak but in the best possible way?
Still, she had to try.
Swallowing and licking her lips, Lena tried to relax a little more.
Kara hadn't seemed to notice how tense Lena had been before.
A scene in the movie came up and everything was just too quiet so by all logic, something a little frightening was about to come up. Kara had started to curl herself into a ball, her head coming closer and closer to Lena's.
Without thinking, Lena took Kara's hand.
Kara looked up at Lena in the dark.
"Tell me when it's over. I'm uh..."
Lena nodded, offering her a warm, understanding smile.
Kara closed her eyes and soon after, a woman screamed. Kara tensed and Lena gripped her hand a little tighter.
When the scene finished, Lena lowered her head to Kara's.
"It's over." She breathed.
Kara opened her eyes and looked at the screen.
Lena was still holding her hand.
"Thank you." Kara whispered.
"You're welcome."
Kara looked down at their joined hands.
"You can uh-let go now."
Lena's heart started pounding. Alex said be dominant, flirt a little.
Lena gave her a small grin.
"What if I like holding your hand?"
Kara blushed in the darkness but Lena could see it.
"Is that ok?" Lena asked, keeping her voice firm.
Kara nodded but she didn't say anything so Lena just held Kara's hand until the movie finished.
Once outside in the cool night air, Kara looked at Lena.
"Well thank you for tonight. I had a great time."
"Me too."
"Maybe we could do it again sometime?"
"I'd like that. Would you like a ride home?" Lena offered.
"Oh I wouldn't want to impose or anything-"
"You wouldn't be. In fact..." Lena stopped herself. Was she going too far if she asked Kara back to her place? She knew nothing would happen but if they were just friends then it shouldn't be a problem, should it?
Kara stared at Lena expectantly.
"I was wondering if maybe you'd like to come back to my place for a little while. I figured we could go over the schedule for tomorrow."
Kara seemed to think about it and then to Lena's relief, she nodded.
"Yeah ok, sounds good."
"I'll call James."
Kara nodded and watched as Lena made the call.
What was she doing? Going back to Lena's apartment tonight. What did she honestly think would happen? Did she want anything to happen?
Kara forced a smile as less than five minutes later, James pulled up and they both got into the car.
Lena opened the door to her apartment and Kara walked in, marvelling at the sleek interior and clean, shiny surfaces.
"Your apartment is lovely Lena." Kara said as Lena shut the door behind her and shrugged out of her coat.
You should see the bedroom, Lena thought of replying but instead she smiled and nodded politely.
"Thanks. May I take your coat?"
Kara took off her coat and handed it to Lena.
"Make yourself comfortable. I'll get us some coffee."
Kara went and sat down on the couch and glanced at the window that had a full view of National city.
It was beautiful.
Kara felt the couch shift as Lena sat down beside her and set the coffee mugs on the table
in front of them a few minutes later.
"You have a beautiful view of National city, Lena."
Lena nodded, crossing her legs at the knees and leaning slightly forward.
Oh Rao, did she have to be so...alluring?
"Do you have the schedule on your phone?" Lena asked Kara.
Kara nodded and licked her lips.
"Uh...yeah, yes I do."
Lena watched as Kara pulled her phone from her pocket and worried her bottom lip between her teeth as she scrolled.
Lena swallowed thickly.
"I have it." Kara said proudly.
"Good. Take me."
Kara's head snapped up to look at Lena.
"W-what?"
Uh-take me through it. The schedule, I mean."
Kara chuckled nervously.
"Oh right, yeah of course. So...tomorrow you have a meeting with..."
Lena zoned out, her mind going to other places, thinking about other things and fantasizing about what would happen if she just took the plunge.
"We can cancel your 3 o clock if you want more time to discuss the profit side of things with the investors-"
Lena's hand shot out and gripped Kara's thigh.
"Kara, kiss me."
Kara stared at Lena in shock once more.
"Lena...I-"
"I'm tired Kara. I can't keep pretending we're friends when we're clearly not."
"Lena, I work for you, I can't just-"
"Don't think about that right now. Kara, I-I can't stop thinking about you. I've tried. I really have but..." Lena swallowed and licked her lips.
"Tell me you don't feel the same."
Kara looked at Lena's hand on her thigh and then back up into Lena's gorgeous sea green eyes then down to her inviting lips.
"I-I've never..."
Lena nodded.
"I know but...do you want to?"
Kara nodded her head slowly and Lena's heart filled with elation.
"Then just trust me. I've got you."
Kara nodded and closed her eyes as Lena lent forward and pressed their lips together gently. Kara responded and Lena moaned when Kara opened her mouth to her. Kara's hands came up to tangle in Lena's hair while the Luthor's hand went about Kara's waist, holding her.
The kisses became more heated. more desperate until both women were moaning and panting.
One of Lena's hand slid up to stroke Kara's neck and her thumb traced the line of her jaw. Lena pulled back slightly to run her thumb along Kara's bottom lip and Kara took it in her mouth. Lena let out a gasp and then slowly took her thumb away.
"Kara...I..."
Lena and Kara's eyes locked and then they rested their heads together as they both tried to get their breathing under control.
"I have to tell you something."
Kara nodded as she licked her lips and they both sat up a little straighter.
Lena's eyes were so soft when she looked at Kara.
"You have to understand...this isn't just about sex for me."
Kara nodded as she listened.
"I do want you, that's true and obviously you feel the same about me but...Kara I'm falling for you."
Kara stared at her in shock and Lena started to panic. She hadn't wanted to scare Kara away or anything like that but it seemed that her revelation had changed things.
"I'm not asking you to feel the same. If you don't and it's just about sex for you, I get it. I'll understand but I don't want you thinking that you're just another...conquest; I guess is the only term that I can think of right now."
Kara nodded.
"I've never been with a woman Lena. I've never had feelings for another woman and I can't say that I feel the same way as you but there is something there. I just-I don't know what that is yet."
Lena looked down, feeling a little disappointed but she had prepared herself for this; for Kara not to feel completely the same. It didn't mean that she wouldn't; she just needed a little time to figure things out.
Kara took Lena's hand, making the Luthor look up.
"But I want to figure it out, honestly I do. I just...I need time."
Lena nodded, giving Kara a small smile.
"I understand."
Kara smiled, relief showing all over her face.
Lena suddenly stood and went over to the counter, picking up what looked like a brochure and handing it to Kara as she sat down beside her again.
"Maybe this will help you."
Kara looked down at the picture of the hotel on the front and frowned.
"You're sending me away?"
"No, Kara. I'm going away."
Kara stared at her.
"What? Why? For how long?"
Lena gave her a patient smile. The fact that Kara was alarmed she might be leaving her was a good sign but Lena wasn't about to bring that up just yet.
"It's a business trip. Some rich business types like myself have been asking me to come along for years and I've always declined but maybe...with me gone for a while, it'll give you some time to work out how you feel. It's only for a week."
"A week?" Kara repeated.
"Too long?" Lena teased but Kara gave her a small frown and an adorable pout.
"You're not funny." She muttered.
Lena chuckled.
"I'm sorry darling but I honestly think me being away for some time will help you. Don't you agree?"
A week without Lena?
Without seeing her every day at work or even just on the street? Or knowing that she was just a few blocks away?
Kara sighed.
Lena was right. With Lena around there was no way that Kara could concentrate on what her feelings meant.
Finally, she nodded.
"It does seem like a good idea."
Lena nodded too and smiled but it didn't reach her eyes.
She took Kara's free hand in her own.
"I know you don't know how you feel yet but for what it's worth, I'm going to miss you."
Kara squeezed Lena's hand.
"I'll miss you too."
And then, without either of them thinking too much, Kara tossed the brochure onto the table and fell into Lena's arms as they kissed.
Dammit, why did this feel so right?
Part 3 coming soon ;)
