Anyways, let the story continue (cue the dramatic music)
LINE BREAK
Rubys POV
As she walked out of the elevator when the doors opened on the bottom floor, she could not help but wonder about what Ozpin had said. If it was truly only a bunch of Grimm and a few Skinwalkers why was she the only one to go on this mission? Why not send her whole team? She had a feeling there was more to this mission than he was letting on, and that bothered her greatly.
She continued down the hall in the direction of her teams dorm room to go and fetch a few things that she had a feeling would be vital for her upcoming mission. Upon entering the dorm room she noticed that the WBY of team RWBY was yet to return from their afternoon classes. She moved over to the closet and opened the door only to find Yang's sweaty and stinky clothes strewn all over the floor of the closet where they stored their clothes among other things. Scrunching up her nose at the appalling smell emanating from the pile of clothes she went over to one of the shelves lining the walls of the room and picked up a short stick with a claw the end made for grabbing things. With a big sigh she turned around and went back towards the closet to go and pick up Yang's mess again, as she reached out and hooked the underside of the claw beneath the pile of clothes she swore she could see the pile twitch.
"What the fuck…" Ruby said as she saw it move again. "I'm seriously going to need to have a talk with that girl when I get back from my mission." Ruby said as she carefully scooped it up and carried it to their clothes bin to be washed later on.
Walking back to the closet she entered it without problem this time and proceeded towards the back of the small room that served as her space to store all of her junk and hang her clothes. Pushing some of the clothes out of the way she began to dig thru the pile of junk that looked as if it was a big mess but actually served as a deterrent to keep her team mates from snooping thru her stuff and finding things that they were not meant to find.
Pulling some rags off of a box like object revealed it to be a large metal box with a padlock on it, picking it up she carefully moved it out of the closet and into gently placed it onto Weiss's bed. Ruby typed in the code that only she knew and removed the lock. She then proceeded to opened the box and grin at what the contents.
An hour later Ruby is standing in front of the armoury's doors after spending the better part of the hour packing essentials that she may need on her trip, everything from spare clothes and undergarments to extra charging crystals for her scroll, torch and various other electronic gadgets that might come in handy. The rest she spent pacing in their dorm room thinking about scenarios that may come up during her mission, especially the worst case scenarios and how to deal with them if it came to it.
After gathering her bearings she pushed open the door to the armoury and entered it. She expected it to be rather empty but she did not think it would be completely devoid of any signs of people. Making her way over to one of the weapon racks on the other side of the room, took out a key and unlocked the glass case. She looked at all the custom weapons she had made over the years at Beacon and Signal. Most people did not know that these were her weapons, they simply thought it was old weapons from previous hunters long since dead on missions that Ozpin retrieved and had stored on the loads of weapon racks spread throughout the large armoury. But little did the students did not know that a one of the racks was full of weapons made by Ruby for herself.
Even her team did not know of them, she strictly used them only when she went on missions. She looked at the rack and looked for the ones she was to use on this time around, after looking for what felt like an eternity she finally decided on two she was to bring with her. A black and red revolver that shot dust rounds and a rather simple large hunting knife that even her team knew about as it was one of her favourite knives.
She locked the case back up and went over to a nearby table. Ruby then took out her revolver and started to disassemble it to make sure all the parts were functioning correctly, she then took out a rag and some oil from a nearby cleaning kit and started to rub oil onto all the parts and reassemble the gun again. She then did the same with Crescent Rose.
After she finished she put her revolver into one of her hidden holsters under her cloak and put Crescent Rose back In its holster. Packing up her stuff she heard someone come into the armoury. Looking up from her work bench she saw that it was Weiss Schnee that entered and was walking towards her.
"There you are, I've been looking all over for you… What are you doing?" Weiss said as she saw what the silver eyed girl was doing.
"Well… Um… You see… Uggh fine, I'm going to be gone for a while." Ruby said with a sigh.
"And when did you plan on telling me about this? And where exactly are you going?"
"You know I can't tell you where I'm going or what I'm going to be doing Weiss." Ruby said whilst picking up her bag and slinging it over her shoulder.
Ruby walked out the door forcing Weiss to follow her with a frustrated "Wait! Why can't you tell me anything?" from Weiss as she ran after Ruby who increased her pace.
Deciding to ignore her, Ruby continued walking in the direction of their dorm room much to the dismay of a certain heiress. Weiss suddenly grabbed her from behind and spun her around. Adopting a solemn look on her face she said. "Ruby, I thought we were past partners. Why can' you tell me anything? You always do this. Do you know what it is like to have the person you love leave for weeks on end without an explanation? What it feels like to have them return after months of not knowing where they are or if they are even alive?"
"Weiss I-"
"No Ruby, I don't want any of the shitty excuses you always give us. I. Want. The. Truth."
Turning around, Ruby kept quiet for a while before looking over her shoulder with a cold expression on her face and said. "You know what Weiss? I don't owe you an explanation for my actions."
Facing the White haired girl with a frown on her face she said. " I don't care what you think or how you feel, I never told you to worry for me, I never wanted your pity every time I got back hurt. I never asked you to have feelings for me! And I sure as fuck never wanted it!"
Seeing the shock and hurt expression on her face Ruby began walking away. With a final look over her shoulder she said. "If you know what's good for you, you would stay away from me." Leaving the shocked girl behind who proceeded to drop to her knees and cry.
LINE BREAK
Walking around the corner Ruby saw Ozpin leaning against the wall taking a sip from his signature mug of coffee.
"You know, that was a bit harsh if I have to say so myself" Ozpin said when Ruby proceeded to walk away from him.
"Not now Oz" She said as she kept on walking.
With a final look at the heiress, who was now completely prone on the ground and balling her eyes out, he shook his head and followed Ruby.
"What do you want? I'm not in the mood for your shit right now."
"Miss Rose, I only wish to discuss tomorrow's mission with you." Seeing Ruby nod Ozpin took it as his que to continue.
"As you may have guessed by now, this is not a normal mission. Skinwalkers and Grimm are not known to work together, quite the opposite inn fact. There must be something or someone there who is controlling them. I Would advise you to be careful and think before you act."
"what do you mean?"
"Well, no human can control a Grimm, much less a Skinwalker."
"Stop beating around the bush Ozpin. Tell me what you are so afraid of. And I don't want any riddles either."
Sighing, Ozpin looked around to make sure nobody was listening before speaking. "We suspect there is a coven involved. And not just normal witches, we suspect it to be made up of High witches. I fear that is the case you may not return from this mission alive."
"thank you professor, I know the risks of these missions. I am have prepared for the worst case scenario and broke ties to the ones who will be most affected by my death. Weiss will probably relay my message to the others tonight as I will not be staying for the night. I request to move up the schedule and leave tonight if that's okay with you."
"Very well, see to it that you are ready to leave within two hours." Ozpin said before walking away from Ruby.
While proceeding to her dorm she thought about what Ozpin had said. If what he said was true she would no return from this mission.
Coming up on her room she eyed the door which was slightly askew and sighed. 'Looks like someone is already here, I hope it's not Weiss.' Ruby thought as she neared the door.
Opening it she sighted. 'Looks like Yang and Blake already found Weiss, and from the look of things she filled them in on what happened.'
"RUBY! What the hell is wrong with you!? Why would you say something like that to her?" Yang screamed at her.
Pushing past the blond Ruby made her way over to her bunk without saying a word and took her case with her clothes in. turning around to head back out of the room she was stopped by Yang who had stepped in front of her again.
"Don't ignore me! What were you thinking saying that to her!?"
Looking up at the blond whose lilac ayes were now red, she said. "It has nothing to do with a weakling such as yourself."
This only further enraged Yang as she now pushed Ruby backwards away from the door.
"You, are not going anywhere." Yang said suddenly jumping forward to hit Ruby in the face, who promptly ducked under her arm and brought her fist up into the blonds face, braking her nose with a loud crunch.
Dropping to her knees Yang looked at Ruby with hate in her eyes and said to her. "You walk out of that door and you are no longer my sister."
Smirking, Ruby lifted Yang's face up. "You were never my sister." Before punching the blond in the face repeatedly. After a few hits she fell to the floor with a cry of pain and a bloody face.
"That's enough Ruby" Blake said drawing Gambal Shroud and pointing the blade at Ruby. "This stops right here right now."
Before Blake could move she heard a bang and saw a flash of light. Slowly looking down she saw a hole in her stomach that was oozing blood.
In a weak voice she said. "How could you…"Before falling to her knees in front of Ruby.
Ruby smirked before kicking her in the face. Watching the girl fall to the ground she turned around and slowly walked out of the dorm room. Heading to the Airdocks she could hear a ear splitting scream coming from the dorm rooms. 'Looks like they found my mess… I need to get going before someone else stops me.'
Boarding the waiting Bullhead she yelled at the pilot to take off. 'This is goodbye I guess.' She thought as she looked at Beacon academy slowly shrining in the distance.
Settling down in her seat she sighted and closed her eyes trying to get some sleep in before her last mission.
Little did she know what was waiting for her.
