As Mon-El's eyes open, his hands shake as she tries to force himself up. His suit and cape torn and in tatters but he was still alive, albeit injured with visible bruises and scratches. As he stood up, his body felt off no thanks fo the planet's abnormally shifting gravitational pull.

The entire area had been completely demolished, and the enemy, Mobius, was completely gone. They had failed. Not only had they been completely defeated but he didn't even want to think about the possibility of civilian lives lost in the surrounding area. He looks around and sees the other Legionnaires are alive, albeit injured and taken aback by the blast. Some worse than others. However in the area there's one face missing that most worries him. His beloved, his wife… Kara. Mon-El desperately pulled himself back to his feet in order to find her, but he wouldn't have to look very far.

Looking up towards the cold blackness of space Kara was floating limply, her suit torn to piece and he could already tell that something was wrong as he remembered she took the full brunt of the blast. He looked upon her in utter shock and horror, his heart racing faster than he'd ever felt before. Jumping into the sky, he rushed to her side and flying up next to her, he could see the full extent of Kara's injuries, Mon-El's fears and worries growing ten times more.

Her suit was completely torn and burnt, albeit not to where she was bare, but her skin was covered in blood and burns, her eyes were shut and not an inch of her moved. She was supergirl, the strongest woman he'd ever known; Mon-El's mind rushing over and over asking how this could have happened to her, how he could have let it happen. However none of that mattered now. Through the tears and sobs threatening to overwhelm him, he took Kara's body in his arms and brought her back onto solid ground. Laying her down on the ground carefully, every part of Mon-El's own body shook, refusing to even potentially believe the worst. However as he moved himself to closer to her, he found no trace of her heartbeat… She wasn't breathing.

Despite his shaking hands and aching heart, Mon-El began giving Kara CPR in order to revive her. He didn't even realize some of the other legionnaires nor hear anything they were trying to ask or say to him. He refused to take his focus away from Kara even for a moment as he continued his efforts to help her fruitless efforts. Begging Kara to fight and come back. Come back to them, come back to HIM. Despite the amount of times he tried breathing air into her, her condition didn't change as she continued to lay there completely still.

Shaking his head, Mon-El continued to refuse what was happening as he clenched his fist before slamming it onto her chest believing that'd be enough to start her heart. However, despite his numerous tries, one of the other Legionnaires put their hand on his shoulder and getting him to stop, that there was nothing they could do. By that point, the tears had already begun flowing down his face without even realizing it. Only able to look about the

His mind flowing with the memories of the time they spent together. The good, the bad, the particularly rough days. The two that were most clear was the day he first kissed her and the day he asked Kara to marry him. He remembered learning about the ideal of marriage particularly of Kryptonian culture. The general concept was the same as on most other planets; the promise to cherish your partner forever, to make them safe and happy, for better or worse till death do you part.

On the day the two were finally wed, no matter what power or strength she already happy, he'd always stand by her side and protect her. But in the moment she needed him most, he was completely useless. And he failed her. Mobius had gotten what he wanted in killing her and he was so helpless in stopping him. His stomach churning in disgust of himself, how could he just let her die, how could he fail as both a hero and her husband. Through shaking sobs, he picked Kara's cold and lifeless body back into his arms and held her tight. Letting his tears fall to her neck.

She was gone; no amount of prayers, screams, or pleads able to bring her back. Only having the guilt that would continue to eat away at him for years to come until the gods would finally take him as well.
