It was long until they noticed their feelings for each other and eventually ended up getting together. Jiraya just knew it was only a matter of time because he has seen sparks fly when they first met. He has also noticed when they were in kohana that naruto had feeling for Minato's student Kakashi. But he is glad that she met haruki. He had also noticed when he and naruko would hear rumors of him sleeping around with other kunoichi that her eyes would darken and her expression would pale. He admitted to himself that he was worried. But he has seen how she slowly started forgetting about her crush and started falling for haruki. But now he sees haruki and his Gaki together and he just know that they were very much in love.
Haruki's POV
" Hime come here," he says. He sees his lover coming and sitting in his lap. He would have never though that during his travels he would meet someone and that someone would be from his clan. He might be only sixteen years old and they might've been together for two years but he knew that she was the one for him. And that they completed each-other perfectly. He remember when he first started falling in love with her when she said made the promise to him two years ago. He would have never expected for her to return his feelings but he was glad she did. He also recalls when they were celebrating with Jiraya her turing sixteen Birthdays Jiraya had left giggling and writing in his notebook saying "foxy and red head," giggles escaping his mouth. It was night time and he remember naruko saying "I love you Haru-koi," she said. His heart filled with warmth that he taught it would explode with happiness. He remember kissing her and making love to her that night. He can still recall her moans that where filled pleasure as he entered her. How he fitted perfectly into her as he made love to her several times whispering words of love to each other as in saying it in prayers.
That day he should've stayed home. It would've prevented his lover such heartache that he knew we befall her. He was just a mere civilian that was in love with a Kuniochi that was destined for greatness. He knew that one day she would accomplish all her dreams and promises. He just wished he had a chance to tell her. As if fate took pity on him. He saw her.

She nods with tears streaming down her face sobs escaping her mouth. His eyes soften and he prepared to tell her something that she will probably get angry about. " Hime I want to tell you that I love you with all my heart. And that I will always watch over you. Naruko one day when you healed. I want you to fall in love again—." He knows she was about to tell him that she will only love him but he wants her to have a family of her own as selfish as he want to be and stay with her he knows he can't ...he can feel his heart slowing down and breaths getting shallow.He talks before she can't say anything

Haruki closes his eyes for the last time and tells naruko " I'm glad I bumped into you that day Naruko Uzumaki," he tells her with such a deep longing and love in his voice. And his heart beat stops. Silence fills the forest and the rain starts to fall as if expressing the blondes grief. She lets out a scream that is filled with such agony and sorrow for her dead lover.
