I'm probably going to be slow to upload things as my RW life has control over everything and this is a non pre-written fic.

~Prelude~
Kenshin lay bleeding heavily, struggling to get up on his two feet. His breaths came out labored and pained, each intake sending waves of pain throughout his body. He glanced to his right, trying to focus on a dark blob.
His opponent lay six feet away, breathing raggedly but alive and unconscious. Kenshin had won the battle and kept his promise not to kill again. The unconscious form faded into a blur once again just as quickly as it came into focus.
With the last of his adrenaline dwindling, the former battosai pulled himself up, using his sword as support. He felt the blood dripping from the many lacerations he had just received as well as a puncture to his chest and torso. It should have been an easy match for the manslayer, but it wasn't.
'Why can't I fight this?...' He thought to himself, his inner voice sounding just as exhausted as he felt.
Everything ached and burned at the same time. He felt like throwing up. He could feel the poison used on him coursing through his body. Kenshin's vision continued to fade in and out of focus as the wanderer attempted to further steady himself. In the far distance, although muted by the ringing in his ears, he heard the voices of his comrades calling for him, searching for him.
Kenshin tasted copper as he tried to find the strength to call out and let them know where he was. The danger was over, the threat had passed and he knew that he needed help sooner rather than later. His voice fell mute.
He felt raindrops hitting him, soon the sky opened up and rain poured down, soaking him in a matter of seconds. The blood mixing with the water falling quickly to the ground.
Unable to continue to hold himself up, Kenshin collapsed again, his world fading into darkness.
