Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, lived a little girl with a mind and imagination so beautiful that everyone listened to her when she talked. She would made up stories about the pictures she saw in the sky, about the fishes she saw in the river, about the butterflies that flew around her. Nothing was boring to her, for she made everything a story.
The girl lived together with her brother and her parents. Her brother was a brave boy, with a kind heart. Even though his sister was only one year younger than him, he was very protective of her and always tried to keep her safe from the cruel children in their village.
Their mother was a proud and fierce woman, a true fighter and adventurer. That's why no one understood why she had married the village biggest coward. Coward or not, their father loved his children very much and tried to always be there for them.
One day their mother disappeared, kidnapped by a pirate they said and the girl cried for days. She couldn't believe how the woman that raised her was just gone. She cried and cried, before she went completely silent. No more stories, no more laughter.
The evil children of her village became even crueller. They didn't like her when she talked, but they also didn't like it when she didn't. Often they would bully her and call her names when she was alone in the forest collecting berries and mushrooms, but one day something special happened.
A strange boy appeared, one she had never seen before. He stood up for her, talked back to her bullies and even went as far as threatening them. The bullies fled with their tails between their legs, while the boy turned around to the girl, asking her if she was okay. She gave him the first smile of many that were going to be shared between them.
The two children met up every day and slowly the girl began to be happier again and talk more. Her stories returned and the boy loved to listen to the way her mind worked and to how she saw the world.
Her father and brother were overjoyed that she was getting her old character back, but they didn't know about the girls mysterious new friend.
Then the next bad thing happened.
The land the girl lived in was plagued by ogres and the time came that her brother was going to be taken away to fight in the war. In order to save her brother, her father turned himself into a monster, a being of pure darkness. The ogres were stopped, but in return everyone began to fear the little family. Fortunately not the girls friend, who stayed by her side.
And with time friends became more. The two shared a love so pure, that some would say that it was true love, the most powerful thing on earth. But powerful things scare people. Especially if those things threatened to take away their daughters.
The father of the girl, now better known as the dark one, wanted to know where his daughter went every day and happened to stumble upon the happy couple talking about their future. All the adventures they would have, all the places they wanted to see. The father got scared the he would lose his only daughter and let the darkness in him speak to make a plan.
He created two letters, one for his daughter and one for the boy. First he went to the boy and gave him his letter, which told him that the girl didn't want to see him again. The boy didn't believe it and wanted to confront the girl, but before he could make a move, he was transported away by the girl's father, to a place far away from them. All this time the man felt no remorse, even when his daughter cried, reading her own letter in which the boy broke up with her.
The girl didn't believe it at first. She ran to the forest, but when the boy didn't show up the next few days, her heart broke completely.
Her brother tried to cheer her up, but he didn't know how. He had a suspicion that his sister had been seeing someone, but he never reacted on it, knowing that this had been the person that had made his sister happy again after their mother left and he didn't want to take that away from her. He didn't know how to take away the pain of another person leaving her life, not knowing that soon he would do the same.
The boy loved his father, but he saw him getting obsessed with his powers. He found a way to travel to a new land, a land without magic where his family could heal. He almost got his father to go with him and his sister, but backed out the last second, letting him fall to the portal, but keeping his sister with him.
The girl now had lost everyone but the man who was the cause of all of it.
The once so happy girl was breaking down and while she loved her father, she knew that he was not the same man that had tucked her into bed and told her stories. Her father had been kind. This man was a murderer. Still, he wouldn't let her go and while the years passed, she was stuck in time to forever be her father's little girl.
Sure she wasn't always miserable. When she and her father moved to a new place, her father found a new maid and with that also a new friend. The woman her father had brought was a smart one and in her presence she could sometimes see the person her father had once been.
But then that woman disappeared too.
And the girl couldn't be alone with her father anymore.
Her father was a villain of the realm and many people wanted him behind bars, so she made a deal with the king a queen of her land. She would provide for a special, magical item that could trap her father while the king and queen moved him to a place where he would never see the daylight again.
And so it happened that the girl betrayed her own father, but finally got her freedom in return…Although it wasn't for long.
A former queen of the land, one whose heart was filled with evil and revenge, casted a curse that took everyone to a whole new world. A world with no magic and no happy endings. They were forced to live the lives the Evil Queen made for them, with no memories of their former lives. The girl got a new name, a new past and was yet again stuck with her father, who still let the darkness rule his heart.
Fortunately to ever curse comes an end and a saviour stood up, who broke the curse with a mother's love. Memories were returned and angry the girl ran away from her father, but with the return of magic, because of her father's greed, she couldn't stay away for long.
There finally happened something good to the girl when her brother showed up again. He was older, but she would never forget his eyes, for it were the same as hers and her mothers. Her brother was still as kind as protective as when they were young and it gave her a feeling of home back. She even got a bigger family with a younger nephew, which she swore to protect with her life.
All was well, until fate decided to hurt her again. Her brother who she had just gotten back, was brutally murdered and her nephew was kidnapped. While still mourning her brother, the girl travelled with a group of heroes and former villains to the place her nephew had been taken to. A land where no one ever grew up, but with dangers everywhere you looked. The biggest one being a demon boy who ruled the whole island.
The girl could honestly say that she was scared, for she saw the web of lies that was being spun around her and her own family seemed to be the spiders. But the truth cannot stay hidden forever. Especially if parts of the truth turned up in the form of an old loved one.
The boy that had caused the girl so much heartbreak with his disappearance in her younger years showed up on the other side, looking just as old as her, like they had seen each other just yesterday.
Both were shocked when they found each other on the battlefield. Both thinking the other one had died in all the time that passed. Both still utterly in love. Both still hurt by what the other had done.
They didn't dare to talk to each other. Only exchanging a few words, but sharing a thousand of longing looks. Both silently begging the other one to make a move again.
And then it happened.
The girl got yet again caught up in her father's battles and paid the price with a sleeping curse that could not be broken by her own blood. Not by her father. Not by her brother that had come back from the dead only a few hours before.
Her father, desperate for his daughter to wake up, knew that he had to tell the truth about what had happened all those years ago, even if it meant losing the already fragile bond he had with his daughter forever.
So it happened that the girl's father went to his daughter's true love and finally ended his lie.
The boy was furious at the father's cowardly act, but agreed to come with him to try to save his girl.
Scared he approached the cursed girl, afraid of not being loved by her the way he loved her, but all his worries disappeared when the girl opened her eyes after his lips left hers. True love's kiss had woken the girl and reunited the star-crossed lovers.
And when the girl's nephew was saved and all were back home, they finally got their happily ever after.
