Jason could not truly fathom the significance of this quantum entanglement device. Right in front of him stood something that should not even exist at all. A being that should be exclusively in the realm of fiction. Nevertheless, there she stands, in front of him, in flesh and bone, wondering what is going on. How exactly should Jason explain this to Rainbow Dash? Does he use language and lore exclusive to Equestria, or just say everything all at once.

"Umm, you are in a magical land called New York City. I brought you here because I wanted to make a friend."

Jason says quite bluntly. Kidnapping doesn't really sound palatable to others, so framing it as wanting to make friends seems like a better idea, especially since Jason was desperate to make friends in the first place. He wasn't unpopular in school, and people respected him, but he wasn't popular. He just got by, doing well academically, but not really having a social life. What is weird is that Jason is a gifted martial artist, yet the coaches at school didn't put him on the karate team. He wanted to know why

Rainbow Dash was confused: "Why did you need to make a magic portal to find friends? Don't you have friends here in "New York"? She asked him suspiciously. Jason had to think for a minute on how to answer this question: "Well, people at school don't really like me that much. So I thought I would branch out a bit." He said rather calmly. He still didn't say that she shouldn't be real, and exists solely in a TV show, but maybe he should get this out of the way.

"You see, this is a rather peculiar situation. You aren't supposed to be re-."

"Do you have any food? I am starving!" Rainbow Dash interrupted Jason rather rudely. Didn't she know it was the middle of the night?

"Uh, what do you eat? We have stuff in the fridge." Jason replied. What do pegasi eat? Do they eat human food, or other stuff?

"Well, I like things with sugar, since it gives me energy to fly really fast. Have anything like that?" She asked him. The real question is whether bringing food to Ms. Dash at 12 AM would wake up Sophie. That is the last thing that he wanted to do, especially since a 5 year old would be more inclined to think this situation is normal, and ask Rainbow Dash stupid questions.

"Umm, I could get some "Fruit of the Loom" sticks in the cupboard. Can you wait here for a minute?" Jason asked as he walked extremely quietly to the cupboard and took a "Fruit of the Loom" out. He walked back to his bedroom and unwrapped the candy, and handed it to Rainbow Dash. She took it carefully and ate it.

"MMM, sugar. I love sugar. Anyways, you don't look like a pony. What are you? Are you a changeling, a chimera, or something else? Do they have pegasi in "New York"?" Rainbow Dash asked.

Jason took a deep breath and began to explain some things.

"Well, New York is only one small part of this planet called Earth. There aren't any pegasi here, or unicorns for that matter. There are earth ponies, but they don't have any magic. In fact, there isn't any magic on Earth at all. There used to be magic, but people killed all of the magicians a few hundred years ago. It died. As for me, I am a person. I have two legs, two arms, opposable thumbs, and no fur. No magic powers, either. My species is rather lame, to be honest."

Rainbow Dash sat down on the floor and pondered the new information given to her by this stranger. "So, you are basically a hairless monkey who can talk?" She asked him.

Jason started to laugh: "Yeah, basically. We used to be monkeys, but we evolved over millions of years. I can see the resemblance." He said, a bit offended that the ape comparison was made.

"Umm, can your kind "people" do anything? What does your society look like?" Rainbow Dash asked him. Honestly, she usually isn't one to ask this many questions, but Twilight isn't here to do the analysis, so she is on her own.

"Well, there are smarter humans on this planet. I don't happen to be one. I am a gifted martial artist, though. I have been doing karate since I was three, and I have four black belts. Doesn't mean all of us people can fight, though." Jason responded. He opened a closet in his room and showed Rainbow Dash the belts and his gi. "Cool!" She said.

He needs to get to the point: "Anyways, what I was trying to tell you, before you wanted to eat a snack, was that you aren't real. I mean, you are here right now, but you were created with human ingenuity." Jason said as he showed her the console. "Each decision a person makes creates a new universe. Equestria was invented by a woman named Lauren Faust to make a TV show to sell toys, and that created your reality. Some smart person, probably smarter than Twilight, found a way to travel between these alternate realities, and I used this machine to try and find a friend. I wasn't trying to kidnap you. I just wanted to say hello. You can leave whenever you want, I promise."

Rainbow Dash was confused. How could she not be real? I mean, she was standing right in front of this boy, and talking to him. "How am I not real? I am talking to you, ya dingus!" Rainbow Dash quipped.

Jason opened his laptop and put on an episode of "Friendship is Magic" to demonstrate his point about alternate universes. Rainbow Dash saw herself in the episode, and was shocked.

"How am I there? I am right here. What is going on? Are you right?" She said, a bit scared. Jason sighed: "I promise I didn't bring you here to hurt you. As I said, if you want to leave, you can. I just need to reprogram the device."

Rainbow Dash put her hoof over Jason's mouth. "It's okay. I know you aren't going to hurt me. I trust you. Just calm down, okay? Explain this universe stuff to me calmly and we can sort this out. I am not worried." She said, reassuring Jason he was in good hands.

Jason put in the "Equestria Daily" website and showed Rainbow Dash the thread with the universe device.

"Hold on one sec, if your species figured out how to travel between universes, who's to say that Twilight or Celestia, or anyone else can come to your world to make friends, or worse? You used this machine to make a friend, but someone could use it to hurt innocent people."

Oh shit, Rainbow Dash was right. If the device works both ways, people from other universes could theoretically come to Earth, and some for malicious purposes. "Oh my god, I didn't even think of that. Should I destroy the machine after I send you back?" He asked Rainbow Dash.

"Uh, I don't think smashing the machine to bits will do anything. For all I know, there could be other universes much more powerful in magic and science, and have already found a way to do this. Frankly, if you didn't find this device, and somebody from Equestria, or anywhere else finds this planet, you would be screwed beyond repair. Fate made you use this machine to find me, and it is only a matter of time until we find out why." She said with a lot of gumption and pride.

Well, that was (not) reassuring. Jason wondered if using this machine sent a flare throughout the multiverse signaling that Earth had the capability to travel between realities. Did Jason put humanity in danger?

"Anyways, I know a thing or two about friendship, so I am happy to hang out with you for a bit. Frankly, I think your intention with this device is the most noble I could think of. What greater purpose can there be in doing something if not for the magic of friendship?" She said,

Maybe the pegasus was right. Everything could happen for a reason, and it is not like he wanted to kidnap her. Besides, he already promised to return her to Equestria eventually. She isn't a prisoner.

"Anyways, Jason, what time is it? I see the sun coming up, so we must've been talking for hours." She said as she pointed her hoof towards the east, where Jason's window is. The sun was not up yet, but the outer ray of its light was visible over the horizon.

"I need a workout. Will I cause a panic scene if I fly around this planet? I don't think so. Come on!" She said as she bolted out the window, before realizing that this Jason fellow probably cannot fly. She is so used to everyone she knows being able to fly or teleport, that she forgot that this might not be the case in other worlds.

"Umm, how is this going to work, kiddo? Can you fly?" She said, hovering over the window confused.

Jason had two ideas, and he wasn't sure which idea would be better: 1) Jason remembered that all living things have ki, or energy in their bodies. In the anime "Dragon Ball Z", the characters were able to use their bodily energy to propel themselves in the air. Jason is a gifted martial artist, so maybe he can use his own ki to fly? 2) Jason can ask Rainbow if she can carry him on her back. This is the less ideal situation, since it would be demeaning for her, but staying by himself wasn't a good option.

"I have an idea. Wait here." Jason took a deep breath, and envisioned himself surrounded by his ki. He imagined that the ki underneath his feet was pushing him off of the floor. Nothing happened.

"God dammit, I thought this would work. I mean, I did this right, no?" He said as he realized that his hair was being blown around.

"Umm, do people naturally have air blowing around them?" Rainbow Dash asked, as she pointed towards the funnel of air blowing around him.

Was this supposed to happen? Jason wanted to test this a bit further. He tried one more time to imagine that the ki underneath his feet propelled him off the ground, and, lo and behold, he floated a few feet off the ground.

"Huh, I guess anime can be real, sometimes. Anyways, I have never done this before, so don't go too fast, okay?" Jason said as he slowly flew out the window and closed it.

"We have 30 minutes do do cool stuff, and then we have to come back, because my sister will be awake. Okay?" Rainbow Dash nodded in agreement, and blasted off, even though Jason asked her to go slowly.

"Goddammit. I will figure this out soon enough," he said as he propelled himself slowly but surely over the Manhattan skyline.

Now that Jason figured out his ki can make him do great things, he wondered what else he could do with it?
