Shizune watched anxiously as Kabuto and two men onboarded to their ship. The silver-haired man had a smirk on his face, and she rolled her eyes at him. Her father said nothing, and that only angered her more.
The fact that he never told Rin the truth about her past bothered her a lot. All these years that Rin grew up in their home, and her father never bothered to tell her that she wasn't biologically his. That she was rescued during a mission gone horribly wrong nearly twenty years ago.
Her father's fear of Rin going to space and crossing paths with the woman he took her away from led to his strict rule of no space travel.
The engines of Kabuto's ship roared to life, and within seconds it began to hover. Shizune dialed Rin's number again, and cursed when there was no response. Kabuto's ship flew away quickly, and Homura walked away silently. Shizune stood still for a moment, her mind thinking rapidly about what to do and how to contact her sister.
By the time Rin woke up, nearly nine hours had passed. Her body felt more relaxed, her muscles no longer aching. She sat up and looked down at the flower on her pillow, and immediately remembered Obito's note. He had wanted to spend time with her, but she ended up falling asleep for hours.
She could no longer tell whether it was day or night. It was something she wasn't used to upon travelling through space. Getting up quickly, she rushed to the shared bathroom and prayed that none of the males were there.
The area was quiet, and she washed her face before walking around the quiet ship. The kitchen was clean, and the training room was empty. Everyone's doors were closed, and curiously she placed her head against one of the doors. She could hear Kakuzu's snores, and figured that the crew must've been asleep.
She headed over to Obito's room and wondered if he was sleeping as well. If she was tired, she figured that he was more tired than her. He had gone toe to toe with Lucifer afterall and saved her. She remembered his note, and then softly knocked several times. There was no response, and she knocked again.
"Looking for Obito?"
Startled, Rin flinched and turned around to find Zetsu standing behind her. She forgot that out of everyone, Zetsu was the only non-human person onboard.
"Yeah. But he's probably asleep,"
"Actually, he's upstairs in the command area. He doesn't sleep much,"
"He doesn't?"
"Nope,"
"Why?"
"The particles in his body give him the energy he needs,"
Rin raised an eyebrow at that. Particles in his body? She suddenly remembered the comment Lucifer made while fighting Obito. How Obito's arm felt different.
"I didn't know that," Rin said quietly, and Zetsu made a face.
"Ah… Maybe I shouldn't have told you,"
"No, it's OK! Anyway, is he busy?"
"Not really. I can take you there,"
"That's OK. I know where it is. Thanks, Zetsu,"
She reached the area within minutes, the command room closed by two large doors. There was a keypad, but she didn't bother having her hand scanned. The command room was off limits to certain members, something she understood. Instead, she knocked and waited anxiously for Obito to appear.
Sure enough, the two doors opened within seconds and she looked inside to find Obito standing behind the large monitors. He wore gray slacks with a black long-sleeve shirt. As usual, he wore a glove on his left hand. She entered the area as he turned towards her, his face seeming freshed and relaxed. She felt a bit of anxiety approaching him.
"I read your letter," she said softly, standing about a foot away from him, "...Then I fell asleep,"
He gave her a small smile, "I figured. We had a long day yesterday,"
"Yeah. How come you're not asleep?"
"I did sleep, for some time," he replied.
She didn't press more on that. Afterall, she wasn't too sure what their relationship was. While he no longer avoided her like before, she wasn't sure if they were at a stage where they referred to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend.
"So… What are you doing?"
"Loading the flight plan into the system," he replied, turning back around and pressing several buttons on the screen.
"Flight plan?"
"For our upcoming missions,"
She walked towards the large thick glass that separated them from the cold oxygen-less environment outside. From inside, it felt as if the ship was moving slowly. The stars, although lightyears away, shone like small crystals. She turned her head and looked at the revolving large planets.
"What are the missions like?" she asked curiously, touching the glass and feeling how cold it was.
"Our next one involves assisting the intergalactic agency with rescuing a group of people from a dying planet,"
"Hmmm, that sounds easier than catching a serial rapist. Maybe this one is safe enough for me to assist with?"
There was a brief moment of silence, and she turned her head to find him walking towards her. She turned her head back towards the pitch black space, her heart beating nervously as she felt him standing behind her.
"And risk you getting hurt?"
"How can I get hurt?" she challenged a bit.
"The planet we're going to is fifteen hours away from being swallowed by a black hole. This mission will be quick, and no mistakes can be made," he grabbed her arm and turned her around slowly, "I can't risk anything happening to you. You will stay here,"
She frowned, "You remind me of my father, you know? He's the reason why I...I couldn't travel through the skies for years. He never explained why…"
"How were you able to convince him now?" Obito asked curiously, and Rin bit her bottom lip.
"I...actually left on my own. I told myself that enough was enough and...I left. My sister helped me leave," she then looked up at him, "I left just so I could explore the skies… And I know things are dangerous, but I wish you could understand and let me participate. I promise not to get in the way,"
He sighed and rubbed the back of his head, "Fine… But you're staying with me the entire time,"
Rin smiled widely, jumping a bit in happiness. "You're the best, you know that?"
"I just don't know how to say no to you…" he groaned, and she giggled.
"I'll make sure that you don't regret it…"
He wrapped his left arm around her before pulling her closer. She sensed how his left arm felt harder compared to a normal human limb, but said nothing about it as she tiptoed even closer to him as he lowered his head and their lips met.
They kissed slowly, taking their time while exploring and enjoying each other's taste. She wrapped her arms around his neck and moaned against his mouth as their tongues brushed against one another. Obito eventually pulled back before leaning his forehead against hers. Her brown eyes looked up at him, and he could hear her breathing. He wanted to do so much more with her. Not just sex related, but in terms of relationship. She wanted to explore the skies, and he didn't mind taking a step back from missions and taking her around in order for her to fulfill her dream. But there was something that he needed clarified first. Something that's been in his mind since the moment he first asked her to be his.
"Rin,"
"Mhmm?"
"I've been wanting to ask you…"
Her eyebrows raised, her eyes sparkling. "Hmmm?"
"...Was it true that you were engaged to be married?"
Her smile collapsed and her eyebrows furrowed. "Where did you hear that from?"
"Your father. Rin, the day before I left two years ago, I went to your home to see you again. To at least...tell you that I was willing to wait, if what you needed was more time. But your father told me that you were engaged and to never get near you again,"
She could've sworn her heart dropped to the floor as she felt a sudden gush of anger. She tried her best to keep her composure, not wanting to accidentally throw her anger towards Obito. But her voice was shaky.
"H-He told you th-that?"
"Yes. That's why I tried my hardest to forget about you these last two years-" Obito saw how a tear rolled down her face, and he cupped her face in his hands, "Rin, I'm sorry-"
"No, don't apologize. It's not your fault. I'm just disgusted at my own father. Ever since I became an adult and wanted to do what I wanted, he's been doing everything to stop me! Even trying to get me engaged to Kabuto,"
Obito knew who Kabuto was, and remembered the smug looks he would give him whenever they would pass by each other. Now it made sense why the silver-haired man would smirk at him like that…
"...But I never accepted. Kabuto disgusts me. And when he knows he can't get my attention, he goes after and tries to harass my sister instead. Fucking slimy worm…"
Obito chuckled, which had Rin laughing herself. "Sorry, that slipped out…"
"You don't have to apologize to me. It makes sense why he would give me these looks and attitude...as if he was better than me."
"Oh trust me, he is not," Rin said quickly, her heart beating quickly, "He doesn't even come close in comparison! He's creepy and I wish...I wish he would be gone out of my life! And as for my father… I'm done letting him try to make every decision for me. I'm my own person and until he gives me a good reason about why he's doing all of this, then I don't want to hear from him either!"
There was silence, and Rin sighed. "I'm sorry… I know that sounded harsh. He's my own father, but-"
"There's nothing you should apologize about," Obito replied, stroking her cheek with his right thumb, "I just wish I had tried harder to get to you before I left…"
"And had I known you would be doing this, I would have probably tried to leave with you. I'm sorry my father lied to you. I am not engaged, nor was I ever engaged, to anyone...especially Kabuto,"
"It's alright. You're with me now. And we have a few more months left until we return back and face your father,"
She wrapped her arms around his neck again, not wanting to think about her father's reaction.
"I'll handle my father when I get home,"
"You don't have to do it alone," he said, giving her lips a peck, "We'll do it together as a couple,"
She smiled before joining their lips together in a heated kiss. He picked her up and her legs went around his waist immediately, grabbing onto him as he leaned her against the glass. She pushed her anger towards her father and Kabuto aside, and focused on everything Obito was giving her. His kisses, and the way he held her, woke a strong desire within her. Something that made her want him even more. His hands were suddenly on her waist and slowly trailing up her sides underneath her shirt, his thumb touching the fabric of her bra. And that only made her want more.
"Oi oi oi! I thought we all had private rooms for this!"
The two of them separated, Obito putting Rin down, as Hidan and Deidara walked in. She fixed her shirt and looked away while he took a few steps back away from her.
"We can always come back in fifteen minutes? Or maybe thirty minutes, captain?" Deidara said with a laugh, and Obito groaned.
Rin, whose face was red, cleared her throat and startled walking away. "I'm going to change and check on my research for a bit. I'll be back later,"
She could feel all of their eyes on her back as she immediately exited the room. She was well aware that Hidan and Deidara were gossipers, and it was a matter of time before the rest of the crew began teasing her.
In the meantime, Obito sat on his chair with a tired sigh, closing his eyes. But he ended up opening them and looking at the two males with an annoyed look.
"What?" he asked.
Hidan started, "Eh, no need to be angry! We're happy for you. We know you've been wanting her for what...two years? And looks like you're closer to bedding her-"
"This is not about sex,"
"Oh really? You had her pinned against the glass with your hands in her shirt. Had we not come in here at this exact moment, you know you would've taken things further with her. We've seen you trying to control yourself ever since she joined us,"
"I'm not going to take advantage of her, if that's your concern," Obito said irritably. Did they really think that he would take advantage of Rin? That he would sleep with her and then cast her aside? If only they knew that all this time, he had kept a picture of her deep in his personal belongings because his stupid heart couldn't let go of her. But he was glad that his heart never did. She was finally here, and with him. And he wasn't going to let go of her.

Couple of hours later…
"The planet is called Actaeon, and it is three hours away from being swallowed by a black hole that is roughly three-hundred meters in diameter," said Juzo as the hologram provided a visual of the planet, "It was formed when three suns collided into each other one-hundred years ago. The black hole has been travelling at a significant speed, and is now dangerously close to swallowing that planet,"
"Who's going to take care of the black hole to make sure it doesn't swallow more planets?" Kisame asked.
"There's a team of scientists on its way to handle that," Obito jumped in, "Our mission is to get the remaining civilians off the planet before spaghettification. Seventy-percent of the planet's population and livestock have been evacuated so far. We will have to wear special suits to protect ourselves from the sun, since the planet's atmosphere has changed recently."
"How many empty ships are there ready to help with the evacuation?" Sasori asked.
"There will be ten ships in total, including ours. Since this aircraft was not designed for this type of mission, we can only allow one-hundred civilians onboard if it's needed. The other aircrafts can hold up to a thousand each, so they'll be able to grab majority of them,"
"Fifteen minutes before landing," the voice came through the speakers, and they all sat down.
Rin sat in one of the chairs in the back, putting on the seatbelt. Last time she sat in the chair, she had fainted when the ship took off. She wasn't going to let that happen again, even though she felt the aircraft move faster as several asteroids bumped into it. She gulped as the turbulence became worse, but her nerves calmed when she looked at Obito's relaxed composure. And with that, she reminded herself that everything would be alright. He was a good pilot and knew what he was doing.
The turbulence got worse before everything calmed as they descended into the dying planet. There were hundreds of people anxiously standing as aircrafts landed and took off.
"We have sixty-minutes until the black hole destroys everything," Kisame said as they all got prepared by wearing black full-body suits and a mask.
The only one not needing a suit was Zetsu.
The door to their craft opened and formed a ramp, and Sasori, Kisame, Kakuzu, and Deidara immediately ran out to start.
Rin stood behind anxiously, watching from the aircraft as families were rushed to the larger ships. It broke her heart seeing them rush with minimal belongings on their backs, children crying as they weren't old enough to understand what was going on.
"I'll be back," Obito told her, and she nodded.
He put on the white mask and rushed out as well. Juzo and Hidan stayed behind by the control room, monitoring the travelling black hole. Zetsu monitored the aircraft in case any falling debris hit it. Rin sat on the floor near the ramp as she watched as several of the ships began to take off, each packed with refugees.
"Looks like most of them will be able to fit in those ships," Zetsu said.
"Where will they go?" Rin asked.
"Several governments have opened their planets to them. They will be dropped off there,"
"That's good," Rin said. She couldn't imagine having to leave home simply because a black hole, something that's barely controllable, was about an hour away from swallowing everything.
The thought reminded her of her home, and the fact that she had more unread messages from Shizune. For some reason, her mobile device was not able to fully connect, causing the inability for her to read her sister's messages. She figured that after all of this, she would ask Obito to take a look. There was just so much she wanted to let her sister know.
"Someone help! Any doctor here!" came the voice of an old man outside as he looked around. "My daughter is in labor!"
Rin quickly got up, slowly walking down the ramp but not necessarily exiting the ship, "Where is your daughter?"
"About two miles from here. She's bleeding a-and...I-I don't know what to do!"
Rin nodded before facing Zetsu. "Do you have a suit I can wear?"
The android nodded and directed her to the area where the extra suits were. Rin grabbed the smallest one and quickly put it on over her clothes, followed by the white mask. She then exited the ship just as Zetsu yelled from behind.
"Rin, wait! Obito wanted you to stay on the ship!"
"I'll be quick!" she yelled back.
"Was that Rin leaving?" asked Hidan from the intercom, and Zetsu nodded.
"Yeah,"
"Shit. Obito's going to be pissed,"
XxXxX
The old man led her to a small wooden house, and immediately she saw the young girl with her large belly. There was blood underneath her. Rin knelt beside the woman.
"H-Hey!"
The woman opened her eyes and smiled. "Are you...the doctor who's going to save me?"
Rin gulped before nodding, "Yes, I'm here to help you. Where's the rest of your family? Were they evacuated?"
"It's just my daughter and I," the man replied, "Her mother died years ago, and her fiance died two months ago,"
"I'm sorry to hear that," Rin said sadly, feeling bad for the woman who was about to give birth without her fiance by her side. And considering the situation outside, she couldn't imagine what this poor woman was going through. But she would do her best to help them out. "Your father tells me that you're going into labor. I can check to see how dilated you are,"
The woman nodded as she whimpered in pain, and Rin situated herself by her feet and lifted some of the rags up. Her eyes widened as she saw how the woman was fully dilated. She turned her head to the father.
"Sit next to her and hold her hand! She will need all of the support she can get. Looks like she's ready to push,"
The man nodded and sat next to his daughter, holding her nearly pale hands.
Rin then faced the woman, "At three, you're going to start pushing… OK?"
The woman nodded, and Rin gave her a smile. "Alright, one...two...three….Push!"

"We're almost done," Sasori said as he entered the aircraft and took off the mask. His face and red hair was covered in sweat.
"Yeah, we have to be in the air in twenty minutes," Hidan commented, monitoring the black hole and its speed.
The rest of them, Obito, Kisame, Kakuzu, and Deidara entered the craft. Each took off their clear white mask.
"The last ship has capacity for the remaining few evacuees. They're rounding up the last few hundred people," Obito commented, "It's better to leave now,"
"Actually..." Zetsu said slowly before looking at Hidan.
Obito looked at Hidan before his eyes quickly scanned for Rin. There was only one reason why they would be making that face…. "Where's Rin?"
"Some man's daughter had a medical emergency, and she left to help-"
"Shit!" Obito cursed before grabbing his mask and putting it on again, "Where did she go?!"
"Not far from here. Two miles,"
The Uchiha sprinted out of the ship and towards the nearly vacant residential area. He checked every small house, his heart beating near his throat. There were some residents who refused to evacuate and preferred to stay and die in their home land, and they looked at Obito with a blank look as he looked around for Rin. He knew he didn't have much time.
A loud female scream caught his attention, and he rushed towards the last small house in the area. The door was opened, and he sighed in relief upon seeing Rin. She was sitting between the legs of a woman, and Obito saw how her hands held the head of a baby as the woman screamed and pushed.
"One more push!" Rin said, and the woman did.
The baby's body was out, and it began to cry.
"Rin…"
She turned her head back and smiled. "Obito! Come help me, please!"
"Rin, we have to go now,"
"I know! Just three minutes! Do you have a knife? I need to cut the umbilical cord,"
He pulled out a switchblade from his side pocket, and cut the umbilical cord as Rin wrapped the baby in fresh blankets. She then looked at the woman and frowned, realizing that the woman's eyes were closed and she was not responsive as her father tried to wake her up.
"Mayra? Darling?"
The old man touched her cheeks and sobbed upon realizing that she was gone, the large pool of blood evident of where things went wrong.
Rin cradled the newborn as he continued to cry, feeling a sense of failure for not doing more for the mother. She hadn't even been able to see or hold her child.
"I'm so sorry," she said.
The man shook his head, "It's not your fault… You came here and helped us… Thank you,"
"Come with us-"
"No," the man said, "I would rather stay and die here with my family. Take my grandchild, please. Take good care of him,"
"But-"
"I am an old man! I've lived my life. There's nothing more for me in this life. But please," he said, touching the forehead of his grandchild, "take good care of him and give him this,"
It was a small box. "It has our family's pictures and history. Please, give it to him when he's older and tell him that we're sorry for not being able to give him the life we want to,"
"Rin, we have to go now," Obito said, grabbing her arms and pulling her to her feet as she held onto the baby.
"OK… I'll do that," she said.
Obito grabbed the box from the man, and they both left the small house immediately.
The old man laid next to his deceased daughter, hugging her body and closing his eyes… Waiting for death to welcome him as well…
XxXxX
"There they are!"
"Is Rin carrying a baby?"
The baby was crying as they ran into the aircraft.
"Hidan, get us out of here!" Obito commanded, and the doors immediately closed.
Everyone took their designated seats except for Obito, who sat in the back with Rin as she held the baby. As the aircraft hovered and then immediately reached the outermost layer of the atmosphere, they noticed how asteroids began to plummet the planet. Hidan took them through a different route in order to avoid the ship getting severely hit.
The turbulence caused the baby to cry even more, and Rin rocked him back and forth in order to calm him. But the images of Mayra's pale face and her sobbing father haunted her, and Rin broke down as she apologized to the infant in her arms. Obito hugged her as the aircraft was now hundreds of miles away from the dying planet.
