Why In Scotland?

BRITAIN, THE 10TH CENTURY CE

Gryffindor surprised everyone with his acquiescence.

"I agree with Salazar. This is the spot. Ambient magic, great heritage. Utterly defensible, should the need arise."

No one was more delighted with this than Slytherin himself.

"Many thanks, Godric. I had thought we would come to blows over this matter. My Ladies?"

Ravenclaw nodded.

"The many views afforded her will serve as inspiration for matters mundane and of the spirit. Helga?"

Hufflepuff was just happy to avoid a slog over this, but also felt it was a great choice.

"A home with space to roam and to grow strong in. Our students will not feel turned away."

Resolved, the four founders decided to make a physical trek of it to the nearby Cornwall coast. They had perhaps feared non-wizarding folks attempting – that is to say, attempting – to block their path or otherwise harass them. This was not the case, though later they may have wished for such.

Gryffindor pointed.

"Why are those boats a-sail? Like a flotilla or an armada."

Hufflepuff summoned her Whole Vista Spectacles.

"Those boats are packed with belongings – hurriedly packed, it would seem."

Ravenclaw wiped her eyes.

"Young Merlin will have to be told. The place his revered ancestor bore off from with the infant King Arthur in tow is now with Doggerland, Hy-Brasil, Mu, Lemuria and the fabled continent."

Slytherin tried not to curse the fates, and was grateful his friends made no light of this. He said it straight.

"So, it seems Lyonesse is on the outs as the site of our new school. Scotland it is then – preferably the mostly land-locked part of Scotland."
