Chapter 6.

Freak Accident.

A few weeks later…

The last several weeks had been extremely rough for Fara. She had not heard anything from her parents, nor her brother for that matter. And now, she was extremely worried about them. But at least now, she was very glad to be home again. Fara suddenly looked down at her stomach and smiled. She realized that she was now showing signs of pregnancy. She placed a hand on her stomach. She couldn't believe that pretty soon both her and Chad were going to be parents.

"Don't worry little one. It will be soon." Fara whispered softly.

Fara walked over to the water cooler and grabbed a cup and poured herself a glass of water. She had just put it to her lips when she heard someone walk into the house. Fara turned herself around and saw that Tails had helped himself in. She and Chad didn't have any problem with the young fox helping himself into their home at any given time. Fara smiled at her cousin as she watched him place himself on their couch. She saw that Tails still had the black colored foot brace on his right foot. And his left arm was in a sling. Doctor Ram said that when Tails was wounded, one of the lasers had hit his collarbone and had injured it. And ever since then, the kid had been wearing the sling to let his collarbone heal up. But ever since they had came back home, Fara and the rest of Team Sonic had noticed that Tails had been acting a little off. And now, Tails looked a little bit emotional. Fara walked over to the couch and sat where Tails was laying down. She rubbed his head gently, the fox cub smiled slightly. Fara placed a hand in Tails'.

"So, you want to tell me what's been bothering you lately?"

Tails only closed his eyes.

"Why would ya wanna know? You've already been told what happened to me."

Fara noticed that Tails' voice was trembling, like as if he was holding tears back. Fara squeezed the kid's hand. Tails immediately tensed up and removed his hand from Fara's hand.

"Tails, you know that you just can't keep your issues all bottled up in your own small world, you know that, right?"

A tear escaped one of the kit's eyes.

"I don't want to talk about this. As if already, I'm having nightmares about the whole entire incident."

"I thought you said you didn't want to talk-"

Fara was interrupted…

"Just shut up! I said that I'm not talking about this! And it's final!" Tails yelled.

Fara barely flinched back as she heard her cousin yell at her. Never in the last year did the kit yell at her, and now, he had just done what she wasn't expecting him to do ever. Fara looked at Tails. Almost immediately, the kit regretted screaming at his cousin.

"I'm sorry… I didn't mean to yell at you." Tails whispered, looking away from Fara.

"It's fine. Nothing against-"

Fara was once again interrupted as she and Tails heard Chad come in and with Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks. The door slammed shut, immediately causing Tails to inhale sharply and leap out of his seat and roll underneath the dining table, clinging to one of the table legs. Then the kid started crying and screaming. Sonic, Amy, and Fara rushed down to the edge of the table and reached out for the young fox, but he only inched himself away from them. Tails' body was shaking as he was freaking out.

"No! Please! I have friends…"

Sonic placed a gentle hand on his best friend. Big mistake. Sonic immediately felt himself get kicked right in the back by a freaked out Tails.

"Leave. Me. ALONE! PLEASE DON'T SHOOT ME!... DON'T SHOOT ME!"

Amy and Fara tried calming Tails down, but he wouldn't budge. He only kept on screaming frantically, yelping like an injured dog.

"Tails. It's okay. No one's gonna ever hurt you again. It's okay." Amy reassured her young friend.

"Don't shoot! Please… no!" Tails shouted. His eyes were darting back and forth wildly. After about two to three minutes, Fara and Amy were finally able to calm the fox cub down. After reassuring him over and over again, Tails slowly but surely inched himself out from underneath the dining table and crawled towards Amy. As soon as he made it, he was gently wrapped up in the arms of Amy, who immediately started rocking him back and forth while comforting him. Tails wailed out loud as he buried his head into the girl's shoulder.

"Shh. It's okay now. He's never coming back again. I promise you. Shh, it's gonna be alright Tails. You're okay. You're alright. Just breathe."

Amy felt Tails' body shake in her arms as he kept on crying. Sonic soon knelt down beside Amy and started soothing his friend by rubbing his back.

"Shh... it's alright now." Sonic whispered.

Tails slowly inched himself towards the blue hedgehog. As soon as he reached him, the little fox wrapped his arms around Sonic. The hedgehog eventually picked up the poor fox and carried him to the guestroom that Chad and Fara had within their house. Everyone else watched as Sonic carried a now sleeping Tails away from the dining room and down the hallway.
