Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Darkness over Mewni. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own SVFOE, Disney and a few others do.

Eclipsa was quite curious as to what was going to happen with Quinn. He crossed his arms, his armor clanking subtlety against his limbs.

"The war gets worse every single day I seem to think about it." Quinn added, unsure what was happening outside the walls "Are you sure you're ok without an escort, your highness?" Quinn questioned while he looked around, curious as to what happened next.

He looked around, quite content with thins as they were. The further this war fell? He knew for a fact that something was going to be bad sooner rather than later. This war slowly started to consume the rest of the kingdom. It wouldn't be much when it comes down to it, but it only took one monster bypassing security.

"I am sure I will be quite ok, Captain," Eclipsa stated while he looked to the side and watched as he started to think. "Besides, I already have my captain of the guard alongside me, do I not? I'm sure that will be sufficient when it comes down to it." Eclipsa added as the duo began their walk anew.

"If you're ok with it," Quinn added, pausing to rub at his arms with annoyance as he started to look ahead. "Sometimes I just think it would be better if this war was in the past. We let people die every single day to those monsters." Quinn said, putting a hand to his armored temples while he started to think about his next topic.

Eclipsa hummed, she was well aware of how bad life was. Her mother continued to talk about the war every single day, constantly bringing up meetings with her generals, strategies for how to kill them. It was not something that made the topic good. She knew more for a fact that something was going to break down.

"There are far too few nice things surviving today, isn't there?" Eclipsa asked which got a nod from Quinn. "There's far too much death for us to focus on the war currently, Quinn. I don't like the idea of losing more friends, captain." Eclipsa stated, gaining a raised eyebrow from the soldier.

She let out a sigh mentally. She should have known Quinn wouldn't talk much about being a soldier when it comes down to it. There were FAR more soldiers who were focusing on the issue at hand, Quinn was not one of them when it comes down to it.

Quinn looked ahead while he walked with Eclipsa. The soldier kept his hand on his sword just in case he needed to use it, the very issue at hand amused the soldier considering that Eclipsa was the stronger one between the duo.

"Do you ever think we're weak, your highness?" Quinn questioned, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms over his chest. "I mean, you have the magic," Quinn added, not trying to sound guilty.

It sounded stupid when he thought about it. Eclipsa was stronger than him, that was how their people worked. She was at the top of the food chain when it came down to it. He was nothing more than a grunt like the majority of their military was, severing the queen and her family was all that mattered to him. He was nothing more than a simple soldier.

"I don't think I'm better than you if that is what you're assuming I mean," Eclipsa stated while Quinn started to say while he started to lean on the wall. "I'm just the one who has to rule, make the bigger choices at the end of the day. Is that… Wrong?" Eclipsa questioned which got a shrug from Quinn.

He shook his head; he didn't know the answer. He knew for a fact that Eclipsa didn't know either, but not knowing was scary, you could lose yourself when you didn't know the answer, and quite frankly? Quinn didn't want to confuse the princess when it comes down to it. still? He didn't have much of an answer when it came down to it.

He tapped his fingers on the wall, their walk was going to be awkward, there were still going to be parts of this that he didn't want. Still? He was only going to talk if the princess decided to allow it. There was plenty to do, plenty to think about when he thought about things. Quinn looked ahead; his eyes focused on the day like they always were. He needed to think about the next topic they spoke about, even if it was something or someone hurt.

"You know this isn't going to work out the way you think. Right?" Eclipsa asked before Quinn hummed. "Maybe, there's more work to do at the end of the day, you know that, right?" Eclipsa questioned as Quinn smiled.

He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth.
