The glass was cold to the touch, damp. Fingerprints were left behind; dust clinging to cracked fingertips. Particles sparkled in the lowlight, stirred by the breaths that fogged up the glass; dry lips almost touching the cold, reflective surface.

Eyes; cold, dark; unblinking. Pale cheeks; flushing garishly.

'Lily.'

breathed against the glass; reverently, pleadingly.

A hand, reaching out; stroking; remembering soft, warm skin; touching hard, cold glass.

'Lily.'

'Lily.'

'Lily.'

Drowning, suffocating; hard, cold glass; cold, damp, darkness. Salt trailing over lips; touching, exploding on the tongue.

'Lily.'

Fingers clenching on air; around the cold, cold golden frame; twisting between strands of lank, dark hair; pulling, stretching; pulling, stretching. Stinging, pulsing; everything is stinging, pulsing.

Green, green eyes; looking down, away.

'Lily, please…'

broken.

.

A gasp. trembling, short breaths; dark hair clinging to pallid skin; plastered, glued in place by the damp. Fingers, trembling; shaking as they reach out; blindly, searchingly until they are curled around a wooden stick.

Slowly, slowly darkness is creeping away to hide in the cracks; a dim light; soft, illuminating, spreading. Eyes; cold, dark; blinking rapidly. Pale lips; trembling, sucking in air; air that gets stuck, winding around the trachea; tight, tight, tight.

Head bending; dark hair falling, trailing down pale cheeks, a bony collarbone. Shoulders curling down; ears scratching against the worn cloth stretched over skin, over meat, over bones.

Dull, pulsing; heavy.

'Severus?'

Inquiring, demanding.

Green light flickering, small sparks dancing; wood crackling.

Shoulders tensing; curling tighter; easing. Head lifting; dark hair slipping down slopes and hollows.

'Yes?'

drawn out, gravelly; unused.

'Could you come to my office in thirty minutes?' pause. 'Harry had a nightmare. It's time.'

The green has faded before he has the time to answer.

.

One button. Two buttons. Three buttons.

Shoulders lowering; spine straightening.

Eyes; cold, dark, blank.

bang.

A/N: I used to have an account here several years ago, but I can't remember the password/email to that one, so I created a new one. It has been years since I wrote anything creative, and this was my attempt at experiment with writing again. I want to apologise for any grammatical/spelling mistakes, as English is not my first language. I have gone through the document a couple of times, but might have missed something.

Hope you enjoyed this little experimental piece.
