We Are Your Legacy
Angelus made sure to give Buffy a beautiful death. It was only fitting now that she had nothing left.
Kennedy twirled her stake and sighed. Sunnydale was so boring. The Slayer didn't know why her Watcher had moved them here. For a Hellmouth it sure was a snooze fest. Cleveland had been way better.
There was a shrill scream. Kennedy allowed herself a small grin before she turned and ran in the direction of the sound. Finally, something to fight.
She turned into an alleyway and saw the usual vampire victimization scene. A very pretty blonde girl was being pinned against a wall by a dark-haired vampire with his fangs in her neck. Kennedy took a second to judge the distance before tackling the vampire off of the girl. He growled.
"Run," Kennedy said to the girl. She dodged a sloppy punch from the vampire and struck out with her stake. She would have stabbed him straight through the heart if he hadn't caught her by the wrist.
"Slayer," the vampire said. "Been a while since we had one of you around here."
Kennedy tried to pull her arm free, but the vampire's grip was like stone. He grinned at her, and his hand tightened around her wrist. Kennedy muffled a scream when her bones splintered beneath his fingers. Her stake clattered to the ground.
"Molly was so much fun to play with," the vampire said. He dropped Kennedy's arm and stepped back when she swung at him, his movements smooth and relaxed. "And the one before her, what was her name?"
"Faith."
Some Slayer sense told Kennedy to move, and she missed being grabbed by the girl she thought she'd saved by a hair. The second vampire blocked her best escape route. There was a bloody bite marring her neck. They'd gone that far to lure Kennedy into a trap? She might have been flattered if she wasn't busy trying to figure out how she was going to kill them both with a broken arm.
"Her name was Faith," the vampire girl said. "Dru loved her."
"Oh, yeah." The first vampire chuckled. "Faith was great. You and Dru just broke her into little pieces. It was beautiful."
"Me and Dru are what you made us, Angelus. Of course we broke her." The vampire girl crossed her arms and ran her tongue over her fangs. "What about you, new girl? Are you going to try to replace me too?"
"The hell are you talking about?" Kennedy demanded.
Her mind was racing. The name Angelus seemed familiar, but she couldn't quite place it.
The vampire girl burst into laughter. "That's a yes, that's a yes! Oh, and I think Spike will like you. Family bonding time!"
Angelus sighed. "If you and Spike hunt down a Slayer together it'll be over too quickly."
"Will not," the vampire girl said. She looked back at Kennedy and smiled. "When your Watcher demands to know what happened, tell him Buffy says hello."
Kennedy blinked and both vampires were gone.
She could still feel them watching.
