Prologue

It was a nice day, perfect weather to spend the weekend outside but that could come later. For now Pyrrha was visiting Beacons infirmary.

She had never gone there much previously, aura ensured that any small cuts or bruises would almost immediately heal, a broken bone or another larger injury might simply take days to a week or two at most.

But this was different to any previous injuries she had seen, it felt like it was only yesterday when Jaune had been training with her, talking to her team, her friends. She owed him a lot for everything he'd done, he was the first person who didn't just treat like some celebrity and famous person. If it wasn't for him she might never have made the friends she did.

But now … he was in a coma, no one was sure what exactly happened. One day nobody saw him until some students found him unconscious. Why? None are certain, there are more rumours about it than Grimm in Remnant. Some were clearly a joke while others could be accurate.

She knew what a coma was of course but nobody had ever heard of it happening to someone with aura. When she asked Ozpin about it he said that they'd make sure he stays breathing and the aura should do the rest. That was a little over three week ago.

She had visited him every couple of days since then. Every time she hoped that he would wake up as if this was just a bad dream. Everything was looking up for him, she started training him and he did better in class. Now he might as well be dead, no she couldn't think like that. She knew him better than anyone, he wouldn't want this to be his story, his legacy. Jaune wanted to be a hero and she knew he wouldn't let this stop him.

Well she was finally here. She approached the bed he was lying in, it had a dozen get well soon cards, it was nice that people cared. Granted half of them had been from Ruby but that's besides the point. It was sad seeing him like this, he looked like he was just sleeping. For a moment she wondered whether or not he might be dreaming and if he was, what would it be about?

Suddenly an explosion rocked the planet. He wasn't sure what it was from but that wasn't his concern right now. His brothers opened fire with bolter and plasma unleashing incredibly firepower towards the daemons that wished for the planets destruction. He used his own plasma gun to shoot the approaching bloodthirster.

After a couple shots it reached him and a hectic melee ensued. Using his force sword he deflected one of their strikes and countered with a thrust cutting a hole through the monster. Quickly using his powers to help him regenerate he could see the endless swarm continued its approach.

"Brothers! We cannot hold them off, withdraw to the second line and call for reinforcements."

"What about you?"

"I will hold them back and buy time for you now go!"

"We will honour your sacrifice brother Librarian."

He heard them withdraw, this position would be overrun in but another minute. This is almost certain death but even so he will buy his brothers time.

Pyrrah stood there, she had heard Ruby talked to her mother's gravestone to help her feel better, well she supposed she might as well try it herself.

"Jaune, I… I doubt you will hear this but nonetheless I want to say I'm sorry."

"I know this wasn't my fault but I wish I was with you, I could've saved you, I could … could've."

The Blood Gods minions were in view, he fired his plasma gun hitting on in the face injuring it. But more kept coming. If this meant death then we was fine with that, he would die standing, a death fitting of the Emperors angels.

"It's been hard without you, I just feel so worried all the time and can never focus, I'm comforted by the fact that Ruby says she'll do everything she can to help you."

"Even if it isn't much it's still nice to see they cared about you so much."

Pyrrah took a deep breath

"Such good friends, and your the one to thank for them. I never said it before but you were my first real friend, everyone else always treated me so formally and acted like I was out of their league."

"But even with them I find it hard to stay strong"

With but a single swipe he cut a daemon in two, bloodthirsters while mindless we're still capable of killing. More approached, with his plasma pistol too hot to fire he prepared for the coming fight.

"It's just everyone misses you … team RWBY, Nora and Ren… and so do I… a lot"

Pyrrah was on the verge of tears.

The librarian said a short prayer to himself before finally getting getting into melee with the demons, he cut one after another down both with sword and using his powers.

"It's because you weren't just some friend to me,"

"I just … I … for the longest time … I just had this feeling,"

A fiery sword came down and delivered mighty blow onto his arm, lightning flew out of his fingers and sent the daemon back, he couldn't check it was dead as another blow hit him in the chest.

"Since I met you, since we became partners, since I started training you."

Pain, pain was all around his body, he kept fighting out of sheer will and hatred for his foes. Surrounded be dozens of corpses he slashed and swung but for everyone he killed another would be there.

"I never admitted it to myself what these feelings truly were, I was always too embarrassed to."

This was it he was surrounded on all sides and barely alive, while his skill and armour helped he simply could not avoid everything. In the corner of his eye he saw something. He tried to block but it was two late and off came his arm.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is that I"

Taking blow after blow with his powers and body unable to keep up he knew this was the end of his centuries of service. The whispers said he could simply join them and survive but he was thought better than that.

"I … I"

In a final act of defiance he fired his plasma pistol despite its overheating causing an explosion consuming both him and a couple of the daemons. While this would be the end for most, he still had some unfinished business from long ago.

"Its that I l-"

And in that moment, Jaune opened his eyes.

And end scene, a battle and a confession. Certainly a way to start this. This is my first fic so tbh I wouldn't expect some masterwork of storytelling.

To answer some questions you might have first the coma thing is just my way of having a crossover which doesn't involve a warp portal to remnant, as for when this takes place it's just kind of before the Vytal festival. For the most part I'll follow what happens in the show, probably until something major changes but it's kind of weird since you never get a clear answer to how long it is between episodes.

Anyway expect chapter 1 soonish, never expect me to have a consistent update thing it's mostly gonna be when I feel like doing it. Remember to like and subscribe wait no uh remember to follow and retweet no wait I mean remember to like and favourite yeah that's definitely it and of course leave a review, feedback is much appreciated
