It was a calm, albeit hot day. The hot air cruised through, burning the lungs with every breath. Nestled at the end of a deep canyon sat a small cottage in the shade of one of its many crevices. In front of the cottage, just out of reach of the crevice's precious shade: was a large corral where four adult blurrg awaited their feeding. Inside the corral, a young woman carried a large bucket of feed over to the trough. The woman had to be in her mid-thirties, her arms well-defined and her skin a healthy color from years of raising blurrg and living in the unforgiving lands of Rhydellia. On her lip sat a stalk of reikfruit that she chewed, sucking out the moisture as she worked. As she finished dropping the feed into the trough she placed the bucket down and raised her head toward the sky. The wide brim of her straw hat covered the sun's eye-scorching gaze enough that she could catch a glimpse of the bright blue sky. After a few moments of taking in the view, she picked up the bucket and began walking back to the small cottage. She spent most of her life in the canyon so she always liked to try and get the best view of the sky she could whenever she was working. As she walked, her ears picked up a faint buzzing in the distance. Is it the generator? She thought to herself. But it couldn't be, her father usually kept it off during the days to avoid it overheating, and even if it was on, it would be louder. So what was it? Could be a peckwing, but there were no nests nearby. Maybe the climate control was on at the house. The buzzing grew louder and more intense. The woman tried to listen closely as she walked. It was too mechanical to be any kind of insect. It sounded like...an engine. Maybe a land speeder? Suddenly there was a snap and she was on the ground. Her shoulder lit up in pain. She opened her mouth to scream but only a painful groan escaped her lips. The buzzing was deafening now. The roar of engines and a series of cries and hollers accompanied it. The young woman curled into a ball on the ground. She gasped for air, trying desperately to regain her wind as a cloud of dust and sand consumed her.

"Mom...dad…" the woman gasped, trying to scream. But, all that she could muster was another hoarse cry as a pair of hands grabbed her and she was dragged away.
