Chapter 6: Good Inside

Meanwhile, Pterano and the other Flyers were just about hath way to the Smoking Mountains as they got to a deep gorge with a river of Fast-water at the bottom. Finding a ledge for them to rest for now, they were about to land.

"Careful. Careful!" Ducky shouted at Sierra who was still holding her.

Unfortintly, Rinkus had bumped into them and made all three of them crash land. Getting out from under them, Ducky then said,

"You are not very good at landing are you?"

"Pipe down you little or I'll,"

"Sierra." Pterano said to him. "Show a little self control. Will you?"

"Self control my tail bone! I've been putting up with her whiny little voice sense we took off. 'No no no. Yep yep yep.' It's driving me NUTS NUTS NUTS!"

"Look. Nobody is after us." Said Rinkus. "Why not we leave our little guest here and by on our way."

"Uh, I world not do that if I were you."

"Leave you behind?"

"No. Stand on that edge."

Looking down, Rinkus saw that the edge he was on was cracking. Until it crumbled apart and he fell down to another ledge on the cliff side.

"Told him." Said Ducky.

By then, Pterano and Sierra flew down to Rinkus.

"Ah Rinkus. Out of the mouths of hatchlings I always say." Said Pterano.

"Well if you're so smart, who is watching the little Babble Beak?" Rinkus asked.

By then, the Flyers looked up to see Ducky climbing up the cliff. By the time she had reached the top of another ledge, she turned and gasped as the Flyers went after her.

Without hesitating, Ducky quickly ran away as Sierra tried to grab her and missed.

By then, she ran into a small crevese and hid herself from the Flyers as the made a circle in the air screeching. After that, she walked out of it and onto a much wider path.

"Oh yes. This is much nicer. Only, there is no place to hide!" She shouted the moment the Flyers had spotted her.

So she ran away again. But this time, Sierra was close to catching her.

"Got you now!" He shouted.

But before he could grab her, the path crumbled as she fell into a hole. As the Flyers landed in front of it, Pterano looked down and said,

"Ducky! Can you hear me? Come on out dear child. I promise we won't hurt you."

But all that he could hear was his voice talking back.

"Must have been quite a drop." Said Sierra.

Rinkus disided to take a look. Until he said, "I can't see a thing. It's way too dark down there."

"Poor thing. So young. So full of life." Said Pterano.

"So what?" Sierra asked.

"I was responsibal for the little Swimmer. And now I've lost her."

"Well Pterano. You should be used to this kind of thing by now." Sierra said to him. He didn't care about what happened to Ducky. All he cared about was finding The Stone Of Cold Fire.

Pterano just looked down sadly before flying away with the others.

Meanwhile, Ducky was seen at the bottom of the hole as she held onto a stone tooth.

"Oh. I am very high up." She said. "I do not want to fall. No no,"

Before she could finish, the stone tooth cracked before falling down with her still holding on.

"NOOOOOOO!"

Fortintly, there was water at the bottom and it was deep enough as she landed in it. After swimming out of it and onto the solid ground, she looked around.

"Hello. Is anybody there?" She asked. But she heard was her own talk back. "Oh well, that is okay. When it comes to dark and scary places, I like them better when they are empty."

Without another word, she went on to find a way out. But little did she know that somebody was in the cave. Make that two somebodies as they followed her in secret.

Back above ground, the rest of the gang had arrived at the cliffs and saw how big and deep they were.

"Oh great. We'll never catch up to those wing brains." Said Cera. "It'll take all day to climb down this cliff and up the other side."

However, Chomper spotted something. Some vines were seen with moss on them. Making them strong enough for them.

"Maybe we don't have to climb. Those vines look strong enough for us to walk across."

"Oh no. Not this Three-horn." Said Cera.

"Cera a scardy egg. Cera a scardy egg." Petrie teased her.

"I am not." She said to him. "It just so happens that every time we sneak off and leave The Great Valley, we end up having to cross some big ditch or pointy rocks or something."

"Yes." Said Littlefoot.

"And the only way to do that is if we use some big tippy bolder or rotten old log. And I always end up at the back of the line. Falling off or being chased by a Dangerous Sharptooth."

"Well, what are you gonna do about it?" Ruby asked.

"This time, I'm going to be the one who goes first. If there's trouble, I won't be screaming my head off. No. This time, I'm going to be safe."

"Uh, okay." Littlefoot said nervesly. "Fair warning though, the one up front isn't always safe."

"That doesn't apply to us Three-horns."

Later, the gang was seen making their way across the vines. Behind Cera was Chomper and behind him was Littlefoot. Ruby followed after Littlefoot. And Spike was at the back of the line.

Once or twice, Chomper almost slipped off the vines. But he managed to grab onto them and continue moving.

"How are you holding up Cera." He asked her.

"Fine. I'm doing fine." She said to him before looking down at the Fast-water all the way down in the deep trench. "Yeah. Just great."

"Keep it up everybody. We're almost there." Said Littlefoot.

"Yeah. We can all relax after that." Said Ruby.

However, Spike spotted a flower growing on the vine. Making him turn back to it.

"Spike! No!" Petrie shouted.

But before he could do anything. Spike took a huge bite on the vine. Making the moss fall off as he went wide eyed as he realized what he had just done.

"Spike!" Littlefoot shouted. "Hang on!"

Petrie got the note and flew to Chomper and grabbed him by the neck really hard.

"Petrie." He said as he choked.

And then, the vine snapped apart. The gang held on as they swang to the other side as Cera shouted,

"I TOLD YOOOOOOOOOU!"

By then, they had fell into a cave and rolled on the ground for a while before stopping on their bellies. Of course, Spike ended up on his head as he smiled at Cera who ended up in front of him.

"Don't ever...do that...AGAIN!"

"Everyone alright?" Chomper asked. "At least we're all here. Except for Ducky."

"Oh poor Ducky." Said Petrie.

"Poor me."

"Ducky?" All of them asked.

Turning to the darker side of the cave, they saw Ducky looking at them.

"Hello everyone." She said to them.

Spike happily ran to her and gave her a happy kick before Petrie flew to her and gave her a hug.

"How you get here?" Petrie asked.

"Well the Flyers chase me and I ran and fell down a hole into big cold water. And then I walked along this pathway I found and saw all of you swinging on some vines."

"Oh me no understand why Uncle Pterano so mean." Petrie said as he began to cry.

"Do not worry Petrie. Your uncle is not as mean as the other Flyers."

"He not?"

"Oh no. He was very sad when he lost me. He was."

(Song start)

Ducky: Everybody has a lot of good inside them and everybody has a little bad. Everyone is going to make you happy sometimes and everyone is going to make you sad. They will trip on your tail or tromp on your toes or knock you in a puddle. It is not that they mean to be mean. No no. They are only in a bit of a muddle.

Petrie: Yeah. Everybody want to do the right thing, only sometime they do it all wrong. Whoa! When they think you think really weak and little, they act like they awful big and strong. They stomp all around and talk real loud. But it just pretendly. They stiking their beaks all up in the air.

Ducky: When they might just wanna be friendly.

All: No one's only black or white.

Ruby: We're pink.

Cera: And yellow.

Petrie: And green.

Littlefoot: Sometimes we're wrong.

Cera: Sometimes we're right.

Chomper: But mostly we're somewhere in between.

Cera: Everybody's got a little dark side to them.

Ducky: Everybody's got a little light.

DING!

Petrie: Someone that you care about can hurt your feelings.

Littlefoot: And then he can make it alright.

Cera: Maybe he's grumpy. Maybe he'll shout.

Ruby: Maybe he'll fill your head full of doubt.

Ducky: But if you turn him inside out, there is good...in...side.

Petrie: Yeah. My uncle could be good...in...side.

Ducky: Everybody has,

Ducky and Petrie: Good...in...side.

Spike: Guh-guh-guh-guh-guuuuh.

All: Good...in...side.

(Song end)

Authors note:

Hmm. I've never ended the chapter at the end of a song before. This must be a first. I think. If I've done it before.
