Shikamaru sat across from his genin sensei, Asuma, at the barbeque place owned by the Akimichi clan listening to Choji stuff his face and Ino complain. The 12-year-old genius attempted to tune them out, thinking back to the letter he got yesterday morning. Now, what day was she supposed to be home again?

Ah, right the 12th. But what day was it today?

"Hey Asuma, what's the date?" Shikamaru asked, interrupting Choji's babbling about the best barbecue sauce.

Asuma looked at his lazy student in curiosity and slight surprise. Was he actually planning on doing something? "June 12, why do you ask Shikamaru?"

Shikamaru let out a groan, ignoring Asuma's question completely. "Shit, she's gonna kill me."

Ino perked up when Shikamau mentioned a woman. And being one to jump to conclusions, a sly grin crossed her face. "Shikamaru, do you have a girlfriend? What's her name? Is she pretty? What does she look like?"

Shikamaru let out another groan. "Quiet, you troublesome woman. Mika's my sister."

"SISTER!" Ino screeched, making Shikamaru cover his ears.

"I didn't know you had a sister." Asuma said, frowning at the name. Where had he heard the name Mika before, it sounded familiar.

"Yeah and she's a real pain." Shikamaru replied, sounding annoyed, but his face told a different story. His sister was a pain in the rear, like most siblings were, but Shikamaru loved his older sister dearly. And some people, like his companions at the table, could tell by the look on his face. Shikamaru sighed before standing up. "Come on Choji, maybe if I bring you with me Nee-chan won't kill me."

And this was the oddest part about Mika, despite how smart he was, Shikamaru was never able to tell what exactly will piss his short sister off. Choji smiled and hopped out of his seat, happy to be able to see his best friend's older sister. Truth be told, Choji used to have a small crush on his best friend's sister. He grew out of it though and ever since has had an attachment to her as an older sister figure.

"W-wait a minute! I wanna come too!" Ino scrambled out of her seat.

"Why don't you all come?" Shikamaru muttered sarcastically, but Asuma heard him and smirked to himself. He wanted to meet this Mika and try to figure out why the name sounded so familiar.

"I think I'll take you up on that offer, Shikamaru." Asuma said and stood from his seat.

"What a drag."

Once inside the Nara compound, Shikamaru led his troublesome team to his house. And once the building was in sight a beautiful brown haired girl with hazel eyes came stumbling out of the house and bounded straight for them. Well, more accurately, Shikamaru. Because once she reached them, she flung herself at the boy and forced a hug on him.

Shikamaru stumbled and adjusted to her weight. He wrapped his arms around her waist and smiled slightly. "Troublesome as always, Mika-nee."

The woman, now identified as Mika, Shikamaru's sister, had her arms around his neck and smiled. "Maru-chan, I've missed you."

"Yeah, I've missed you too." He gave her a tight squeeze before pulling away from the hug. This was when Asuma and Ino got a good look at the girl- no woman. She was older than Shikamaru by a handful of years, around 16. And the funny part was Mika was shorter than her younger brother, not by much, maybe an inch or so, but still… It was quite amusing.

It was also at this point Asuma was positive he'd not only heard her name but seen her. What was bugging him though was that he couldn't figure out where he'd heard of her.

"Wait a minute…" Mika frowned. "Maru-chan, who are these people?"

"Maru-chan?" Ino snorted and started laughing, making Shikamaru glare at her.

The 12-year-old sighed and turned back to his sister. "This is my team."

"Oh," Mika smiled then. She knew her little brother became a genin several months ago, but she was out running errands for the Third Hokage and couldn't make his graduation. And she also never met his team nor sensei. Her eyes flickered to Choji and she immediately went to give him a hug.

"Choji-kun, it's good to see you. Have you gotten taller?" Mika asked once she pulled away.

Choji shrugged. "Maybe. It's nice to see you too, Mika-chan."

Mika then went back to her brother and linked their arms together. "Alright then Shikamaru, I think it's time for me to meet your team."

"I'm Ino Yamanaka, I never knew Shikamaru had such a pretty older sister." Ino introduced herself smiling.

"And I'm their sensei, Asuma. Have we met before?" Asuma asked, wondering if he had a mission with her before or something.

"Maybe, I'm the political diplomat for Tsunade-sama. There's a good chance you've seen me in Hokage tower before. Oh, I should probably introduce myself. My name is Mikasa Nara, but most people call me Mika. Please look after Shikamaru for me, I know he's lazy but then again I am too so I can't really say anything- but his heart's in the right place. At least, I think." Mikasa whispered the last part to herself but Shikamaru heard and nudged her.

Ah, so that's it. Asuma thought to himself. Now he remembered that not only was the political negotiator for the 5th Hokage, she also had the job under the 3rd Hokage. But that still didn't settle right for the Sartuobi. He still couldn't shake the feeling of hearing her mentioned somewhere else.

"Wow," Ino breathed with stars in her eyes. "You must be a really important person."

Mika shrugged. "I'm just your everyday Nara."

"Have you seen the old bastard yet?" Shikamaru asked, glancing down at his sister who still had their arms linked together.

Mikasa rolled her eyes at the nickname. "Yeah, he picked me up at the gate."

"Great," Shikamaru grunted sarcastically. "Now I owe him five ryo."

The person they were referring to was Mikasa's boyfriend. He was a certain jonin who was in charge of a rambunctious genin team and enjoyed reading pervy books. When Mika met Kakashi the first time she was arguing with the 3rd Hokage about the contents of a peace treaty with the land of grass when Kakashi came in to give a mission report.

Lord 3rd told him to go ahead and give the mission report, since Mika was just finishing up. Mika didn't take too kindly to this and snapped at the Hokage while yelling at Kakashi to wait outside. Mikasa was 14 then and somehow the two ended up becoming friends because the 3rd sent Kakashi with Mikasa to act as her escort/bodyguard on one of her more dangerous long term missions.

Turns out the old geezer was a meddler and thought they would make a great couple, despite the ten year age-gap. And two years later, once Mika was a legal adult, Kakashi, who was hopelessly in love with her- grew some balls and asked Mikasa out. Of course Mikasa, who was also in love with him, said yes.

But the problem happened when Mikasa brought Kakashi over to meet her parents and little brother a month after they started dating. Her mother was over the moon and gave her blessing with ease. Her father, Shikaku, knew Kakashi was a respectable jonin and after making him promise to look after her- gave his blessing. Yet the problem laided with the youngest Nara, Shikamaru.

He thought Kakashi was a dirty old man and wasn't worthy of her, so he refused to give his blessing. Until Kakashi said something unexpected, "You're right, I'm not worthy of her. But I love her with everything I have. She's too good for me, but I won't stop loving her. I can't imagine my life without her in it, and I will do everything in my power to make sure she is taken care of and happy. So, do I have your blessing or not?"

Shikamaru gave his blessing after that, and now they have a bet going as to whoever picks Mikasa up from the gate after a mission, gets five ryo from the one who didn't.

Mikasa chuckled, some things never change. "Anyway, who wants tea?"

"Will there be food?" Choji asked immediately, even though they just finished eating lunch.

Mika smiled and pulled Shikamaru towards the house, the others following behind. "Of course, I even brought back some of those sweets you're so fond of, Choji-kun."

Somehow yesterday during tea the genin get together was mentioned, well that was what Guy called it anyway. It was a large training event where Asuma's, Kurneai's, Kakashi's, and Guy's teams all got together for a joint training exercise. And now, Mikasa was coming.

Mikasa simply shrugged when she was invented, saying she had nothing better to do that day. One other thing they found out about Mika was that while she was lazy, like most Nara's, she liked to just get things done and out of the way so she had more time to relax. Shikamaru said she got that from their mother.

And here they came. Shikamaru had his hands stuffed in his pockets and Mikasa had liked their arms together again. And when Asuma and his team, as well as Kurenai's and Guy's, saw them coming they were locked in conversation.

"No, Shikamaru." They heard Mika say, once they were in ear shot. "If we were to do that, Okaa-san would kill us." Shikamaru grunted in response.

"Who's that?" Kurenai questioned. "Shikamaru's girlfriend?"

"Nope," Asuma took a drag on his cigarette. "His sister." Kurenai sputtered and Asuma patted her on the back.

"Don't worry Kurenai-sensei, I thought the same thing." Ino tried to reassure her, she then turned to them and waved. "Hey, Mika-chan!"

"Hey," Mika greeted and untangled her and Shikamaru's arms. Asuma's feeling of knowing her from somewhere came back, and Might Guy smirked, recognizing the girl instantly.

"Well if it isn't Mikasa. It's been a while." Guy said, making Asuma frown slightly.

Mika deadpanned. "Hi Guy. You're not gonna try and hug me, right?"

Guy chuckled and patted her on the head, Mikasa swatted him away. "No way, last time you dislocated my shoulder. And the time before that you broke my wrist."

"Yeah sorry about that, it's a reflex from hanging around old lords who keep trying to grope me. How about next time you spring a hug on me I just knock you unconscious." Mika suguested.

Guy chuckled. "Deal."

"Guy-sensei," a voice spoke and Mikasa jumped. "You know this woman?"

"T-t-there's two of you!" Mika screamed, getting a good look at the boy. He had the same bushy eyebrows and bowel cut Guy did, but he was a good decade or so younger.

Guy ignored her. "Lee, this is Mikasa, a friend of mine. Mika, I'd like you to meet my genin team. Rock Lee, Neji Hyuga and Tenten Noramura."

"It's an honor to meet one of Guy-sensei's friends!" Lee yelled, bowing. He was a mini Guy in more than just looks apparently.

"Ah, yeah sure. You too." She looked over at the Huugya genius, then at the female with buns on her head and smiled slightly. Guy had a good team, even if there was a mini him on it.

"Anyway," Mika turned and looked at Kurenai and her team. "I already know Maru-chan's team, Guy just introduced me to his, so let me guess-" Mika smiled up at Kurenai. "Your Kurenai Yuhi, right?"

Kurenai blinked at her then smiled. "You're definitely a Nara."

"I'll take that as a complement." Mika turned to look at the genin. "Now, let's see if I can remember who was placed on which team when I was helping Lord 3rd make the genin teams. Your Shino Aburame, Kida Inuzuka, and Hinata Hyuga." She pointed to each of them as she said their names. "Was I right?"

"You got it lady." Kida said and Akamaru, his dog, barked.

"Did you say that you helped the Hokage make the genin teams?" Asuma asked.

Mika turned to him and nodded. "Yep. Ojii-sama loved pawning off his paperwork to me. Since I handled political negotiations I could look at anything that wasn't shinobi missions. Tsunade-sama does the same."

Then Kakashi and his genin team came walking up the path. Kakashi arrived first, book in one hand with his genin team following behind. "Sorry we're late. We got-"

But Kakashi was cut off by Mikasa. "Let me guess, you got lost on the path of life or maybe a black cat crossed your path and you had to take the long way around?"

"Mikasa!" Kakashi jumped slightly and Mika smiled brightly at him.

Shikamaru sighed, and walked over to Kakashi. He pulled five ryo from his pocket and gave it to the old bastard. "Here."

Kakashi's eye crinkled, meaning he was smiling. "Pleasure doing business with you."

"Do you two just pass the same 5 ryo back and forth?" Mika teased, getting blank looks from them both. Meanwhile, Asuma's eyebrows shot up. If Kakashi was the one Shikamaru owed five ryo, then that meant Kakashi was the one who picked Mika up at the village gates.

Yet oddly enough, this statement caused Asuma to remember something. He was having drinks with Kakashi in the sharingan user's apartment and spotted a picture of Kakashi with his arms wrapped around a beautiful woman with hazel eyes and brown hair. He had asked about it and Kakashi said that was his girlfriend, Mika.

"Hey Kakashi," Asuma started. "Didn't you say you had a girlfriend named Mika?"

Kakashi looked down at Mikasa, giving Asuma his answer and the black-haired jonin almost choked on his cigarette smoke. Mika gave a lazy smile. "Why all the sudden interest in me, Asuma?"

Meanwhile, Kurenai connected the dots as well. As did all the genin, minus Shikamaru. This short Nara woman was Kakashi's girlfriend. A certain blond boy with blue eyes and whiskers on his cheeks smiled brightly and shouted, "I had no idea you had a girlfriend, Kakashi-sensei!"

Kakashi scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "Ah, yeah, this is Mikasa. Mika, this is my genin team."

"I'm Naruto Uzamaki and I'm gonna be Hokage, believe it!" Naruto intorced himself. He was the blond blue-eyed boy with whiskers on his cheeks.

Mika chuckled. "Well Naruto, I hope I can keep my job when you become Hokage, then."

"You work for Baa-chan?!" Naruto shouted.

"Yes, I worked for Lord 3rd as well. I handle all political obligations in the leaf. And if you don't mind, can I borrow your nickname for Tsunade-sama?"

"Yeah, believe it!" Naruto yelled. Mikasa smiled and ruffled his hair.

"It's an honor to meet you Miss, my name is Sakura Haruno." Sakura introduced herself politely. Mika smiled back and turned to the last boy, waiting for him to introduce himself. But the boy simply glared at her.

"Ah, Sasuke, this is Mika, she's a jonin like me. Mika, this is Sasuke Uchiha." Kakashi introduced them.

"She's a jonin. But she looks so weak." Sasuke said, but instantly regretted it. Kakashi took a step away from Mika as did the rest of Team 7.

Mika did several quick hand signs the emo genin couldn't catch, before he was frozen in place. Unlike the Nara shadow possession jutsu, which Sasuke thought it was, this jutsu only froze Sasuke, not Mikasa. She was in front of him in the blink of an eye, kunai pressed to his neck.

"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura and Ino shouted, but Mika ignored them.

"Still think I'm weak?" Mika pressed the kunai further into almost drawing blood, a terrifying smile on her face.

"No, ma'am." Sasuke rushed out. Mika nodded and put her kunai away before releasing the jutsu.

She ruffled Sasuke's hair like she did Naruto, despite him being taller. "Good boy."

"She's terrifying." Sasuke whispered once Mika walked away.

Kakashi sighed. "Welcome to my world."

Shikamaru sighed as well. "What a troublesome woman."
