Cadence looks over the land in shock. She knew she was told about being in a different world, but she didn't know that it was so peaceful. There was an open field as far as she can see. She looks up that the cloudless sky and saw a few birds fly past.
"HEY! LISTEN!"
Cadence was snap out of her thoughts when Trill spoke up.
"I know Hyrule is peaceful, but I really need your help. My friends have been placed under a deep sleep, and they won't wake up!" She said.
"Your friends?" Cadence asked.
"Yeah, one of them is close by! His house isn't far from here!" Trill told her.
Cadence had to think about that. She was in a whole new world without any clue how she got here. But if Trill friends could help her find her way around this place, and a way home, then she might as well help.
"Lead the way." She said.
Trill flew down the field as Cadence follow her. They didn't get far when something snatch Trill from the air. Cadence stops when she saw a creature that she has never seen before.
"Let me go!" Trill cried out.
Cadence pulls out her dagger and rushes up to the creature. It saw her and was about to swing its club. Cadence was quicker and knocks the creature back, making it let go of Trill. The Fairy flew close to Cadence as she ready herself.
"Be careful, Bokoblins are not very smart, but they are dangerous as a group!" Trill said.
Cadence watch as the Bokoblin got back up and went to attack her. Cadence dodges the club and stabs in the heart. To her surprise, it disappeared in smoke. Cadence notices it drop something and pick it up.
"A rupee wallet?" Trill asked.
"Rupee? Is that like gold?" Cadence asked.
"Sure? Rupees come in different colors. Green is worth 1. Blue is worth 5. Red is worth 20. The rare orange is worth 100. The even rarely silver is worth 200." Trill told her.
Cadence was shocked. A Rupee color tells how much they are worth?! If her home learns about this, people might strike rich the minute they find a Silver Rupee.
"You better keep that. I'm sure you'll find some rupees during your trip." Trill said.
"Yeah. I got a feeling that gold isn't going to be useful here." She said, placing it on her hip.
Trill nods and continues the way towards her friend's house.
Cadance was surprised to see a single house in the middle of the field. Trill flew around it and sighs.
"Good, the barrier is still up." She said.
"Barrier?" Cadence asked.
"Yeah, it's to keep the Monsters from finding his house when he's gone or sleeping." Trill said.
Trill then flew up to the door and looks back at Cadence.
"You coming? I can't open the door by myself." She said.
Cadence walks up and opens the door. Trill flew in, and Cadence looks around. It didn't have much. It reminds her of her uncle's place a bit. She then saw Trill flying over a bed, trying to wake someone up.
"Link! Link! Wake up!" She said.
Cadence walks up to the bed and saw a young man laying on it. She had messy blonde hair and looks to be snoring.
"Link! LINK!" Trill shouted, but he didn't move.
Cadence looks at him, surprise to see how handsome he looked. However, she couldn't believe his ears. Unlike hers, which was small and round, his was long and pointy. Cadence shook her head. She had to focus.
"Oh, he's still under the spell." Trill said sadly.
"Is there a way to wake him up?" Cadence asked.
Trill then lights up even brighter.
"Yes! I heard of a potion that will awake anyone from their sleep! We need to get to Kakariko!" She said.
"Kakariko?" Cadence asked.
"Yeah, it's a village not far from here. If someone knows about the potion it must be in Kakariko!" Trill said.
Cadence nods. Maybe Link could help her find a way back home.
"Let's go." Trill said, readying to head out.
Cadence smiles before tucking Link in a bit. She then nods and follows Trill out of his house.
It didn't take them long to reach Kakariko Village. Cadence was surprised to see several people walking about, enjoying their day. Almost as if they had no troubles at all.
"Like with Link's House, Kakariko is safe from monsters," Trill told her.
"Huh, most monsters I deal with stay in caves and crypts," Cadence said.
"Oh, a newcomer?"
Cadence turns and saw a creepy man walking up to her, carrying a shovel over his shoulder.
"Never seen you before." He said with a friendly smile.
"I'm new to these lands. My name is Cadence." Cadence said.
"Everyone calls me Dampé. I see you like shovels." He said.
"Yeah. I explore crypts. It's a family thing." Cadence said.
"What brings you to Kakariko?" Dampé asked.
"I heard of a potion that can wake anyone from a deep sleep. Do you know where I can find one?" Cadence said, then asked.
"Hmm, Dampé remembers seeing a strange man doing something to the grave in the Village. Shortly after Dampé found a person outside the village and gave them a bed." He said.
"A person?" Cadence asked as Trill looked surprised.
"Yes. She looks very much like the Princess." Dampé said.
"THE PRINCESS?!" Trill shouted, shocked.
"Princess?" Cadence asked.
"You must be really new here if you haven't heard of the princess. She's the only daughter of the king and the future ruler of Hyrule." Dampé said.
"Cadence! It's possible that Zelda could be under the same spell as Link!" Trill said.
"Zelda?" Cadence asked.
"Yes. As Dampé said, she's the princess of Hyrule! We need to find that potion to wake her up too!" Trill said.
Cadence thought about it and agreed. Maybe she could explain her reason for being in a kingdom. She only hopes she wasn't one of those spoil princesses she read about.
Cadence found the graveyard and notices the biggest Tombstone look loose. She was able to push it out of the way and notices some stairs.
"Wow, I did know you were that strong." Trill said.
"Well, I said I explore crypts. All the digging and dancing really help me out." Cadence said.
Trill just nods and follows Cadence into the depths. The minute Cadence touched the ground, she heard a familiar music. Trill looked around also hearing the music.
"Is that...music?" She asked.
"Yeah. I better keep moving." Cadence said, remember to listen to the beats to keep up with the monsters.
Trill watches as Cadance moves and dances to the music while also take out some monsters in her way. Trill was impressed. It looks as if Cadence was right at home in this place. She follows Cadence until she found a door. Cadence opens it and steps inside. Cadence looks around, before spotting three shadows on the wall. Two of the shadows gained red eyes and steps out of the wall.
"Link? Zelda?" Trill asked.
The Shadow Link drew its sword and rushed at Cadence. She jumps back to dodge the swing but didn't notice a ball of fire next to her. It exploded and knocks her back. Shadow Zelda smirks before nodding at Shadow Link. It rushes up to Cadence and swings its sword. Cadence felt the sword cut into her and cry out in pain.
Shadow Link goes to strike her again, but Cadence grabs her shovel and blocks it. She then spots Shadow Zelda on the side, getting ready to attack her again. Cadence pushes Shadow Link off her and quickly dodges Shadow Zelda's attack. She whacks her with her shovel before seeing Shadow Link heading for her. Cadence dodges the sword before stabbing it with her dragger. However, Shadow Link smirks and grabs ahold of her. Cadence tries to break free but felt something stab her in the back.
"CADENCE!" Trill shouted.
Cadence looks down at her chest and saw a red blade sticking out where her heart was. She looks behind her to see Shadow Zelda smiling evilly. She felt the blade remove from her body and Shadow Link let go of her. Cadence took a few steps back, holding her chest. However, she wasn't feeling any plain. Cadence blinks before she remembers that she didn't have her heart. The one she had now was a gift. And since she's not feeling anything from the stab, it's not real. She laughs at the ivory.
"Well, that's something. I can't die from having my heart attacked." She said, looking at the two Shadows, who were shocked to see her still alive.
"Well, I better stop holding back. I know you two aren't real." She said, holding her shovel up.
Shadow Link growls and charges at her. Cadence blocks the sword before pushing it back. She saw Shadow Zelda heading for her and blocks the stab. Cadence pushes Shadow Zelda back and whacks it back into Shadow Link. The two Shadows look ready to attack before they smirk. Cadence watch as the shadows enter back into the wall and seems to fuse with her shadow. It, too, gained red eyes and steps out of the wall.
Cadence was shocked to see her shadow self smile evilly and pulls out a red shovel. It then charged at her, swinging its shovel. Cadence dodges it and tries to attack back. But her shadow grabs her by the face and slams her to the ground. Cadence tries to get the hand off her face before seeing her shadow holding up a red dagger. Instead of aim where her heart was, she was going for her face! Cadence tries to grab her dagger, but her shadow started to squeeze her face, stopping her.
Trill was really worried now. She didn't know how she survives the stab to the heart, but she had a strong feeling that she wouldn't survive a stab to the face.
"PLEASE! SOMEONE HELP HER!" Trill shouted.
Suddenly, Cadence's right hand glowed, forcing Shadow Cadence off her as it try to block the light. Cadence felt a burst of power and acted. She grabs her shovel and slams right into her shadow. She knocks it on the wall and pulls out her dagger. She stabs it in the heart before taking its head off with her shovel. Cadence took a step back as her shadow faded away. She looks surprised at what she did. She took down monsters and even fought the one that took her heart, but she just killed herself.
"Cadence!"
She was shocked to feel Trill touch her cheek and giggle from the feeling.
"Oh, thank Hyila! I thought you were a goner!" She said.
Cadence smiles before noticing a chest appear. Trill got off her as Cadence opens the chest.
"Is this it?" She asked, holding a bottle that look to have a purple flower around it.
"Yes! That's the Hibiscus Potion! With this, we can awaken both Link and Zelda!" Trill said.
Cadence nodded. She then notices Trill floating closer to her.
"Are you okay? I saw you get stab in the heart." She asked.
"Yeah. I'm still shocked I'm alive." Cadence said.
Trill look confused but nodded.
"Well let go wake Princess Zelda first. She's close by." Trill said.
Cadence nods and started to head for the exit. Trill floated there for a few seconds, thinking on what she saw.
"That light. It looks like the Triforce. But Link and Zelda have the other two, and the Triforce of Power is stolen. Could she have..." Trill said, thinking.
And that this chapter. Now, since I never play Crypt of the Necodancer, I do not know if Cadence got her heart back at the end. But I did listen to the soundtrack, and I really like the music. For both games. And Shadow Cadence, who does not appear in the game, is just a character I made up. Since there's a Shadow Link and Shadow Zelda, or as some fans would call them Dark Link, Dark Zelda, and Dark Cadence, I came up with a third evil double for Cadence.
Next chapter, Cadence awakens both Link and Zelda, and she learns the truth behind the evil in Hyrule. And there's not going to be any pairings before anyone asks.
