OOOOOOOOOOOO

Dwayne walked along the boardwalk with no real destination in mind. He was happy. Even with his brothers' earlier teasing. All they could do was make fun of him for falling for a girl on the boardwalk. But he could turn deaf ears on them fairly easily. It was worth it.

His dark eyes turned to his left where the girl in question was walking next to him. She had long silver hair and blue eyes. She reminded him of cooler months coming. Her name was Autumn and she'd captured his heart with just a few words.

She caught him looking at her and smiled. "What are you looking at?"

"You," Dwayne admitted with a grin.

Autumn laughed. "Yeah?"

"Yeah."

"And how do I look to you tonight?" Autumn asked, sliding her arm around his.

"Tired, but cute," Dwayne told her. "Long day at work?"

"The longest," Autumn sighed. "You wouldn't believe how many freaking Karens there were in the store today. If I could walk out, I would."

"So why don't you?"

"Because hon, I need the money," Autumn said, shaking her head. "You may not need a job to keep a roof over your head, but little miss me? I am not that lucky. My folks are having me work to pay for living in their crap heap."

Dwayne moved in front of her and started walking backwards. "Who says you have to put up with that?"

"Uh, society?" Autumn said, crossing her arms.

"I've got money."

Autumn rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I know. But you already spend so much on me. I don't want you to do it anymore."

Dwayne smiled. "Too. Fucking. Bad."

The silver haired girl tried to punch him, but he dodged her. He laughed and thumbed his nose at her. Autumn let out a little laugh and stretched, her belly button ring sparkling under the lights of the boardwalk.

"You're terrible," she commented.

"Yeah, well, you're adorable."

Autumn shook her head. "I'm not adorable. I'm cute."

"Same difference."

"Nope," she said, popping the 'p' sound.

Dwayne lifted an eyebrow. "What are you talking about? Adorable and cute are the same thing basically."

"Nuh-uh."

"Autumn," Dwayne said, giving her a stern look.

Mischief lit up her eyes. "Catch me if you can!" And then she was running away from him, dodging people that crowded the busy boardwalk.

The thrill of the chase filled him as he watched her go. It reminded him that he was a predator now. That he could chase her, track her, whatever he needed to do to take her down.

Well, not take her down. Just catch her and keep her by my side forever, Dwayne told himself as he took off after her.

Autumn almost knew the boardwalk as well as he did, so she could run around the corners and the alleys between stalls and rides with ease. Dwayne almost regretted telling her about all of them, but then he reminded himself that he'd done so because he wanted her to know how to get away from trouble should it show it's face. And there was the prospect of sneaking off with her in the future to have a bit of extra fun.

Because they hadn't even kissed yet. Dwayne wasn't exactly sure why, but they'd only hugged and she'd occasionally give him a kiss on the cheek. He knew that she liked him – a lot of girls did (not that he cared) and that he could probably steal a kiss from her without her protesting. But he didn't like to be as pushy as his brothers.

He caught the girl's scent on the air and followed it. When he saw her peering around the carousel at him, a large smile appeared on his face. He jumped onto the carousel and moved around it, keeping an eye out for her. She thought she was slick by running around the carousel, trying to avoid him. But he jumped in front of her.

"Boo!" he said, looking at her with a smirk on his face.

"Oh poopy," Autumn muttered, holding her hands up in surrender. She sighed. "What else should I expect from a vampire?"

Dwayne grinned and gripped her wrists, pulling her to him. "Autumn, you lose. Again."

"Kiss it, mister."

His eyes flickered down to her lips and back to her eyes. "Okay."

She blinked. "Wait, what?"

The Lost Boy pulled her closer and brushed his lips against hers. When her lips moved against his in a kiss, he put a little more force into it. Autumn looked dazed when he pulled away a moment later.

"Dwayne?" she whispered.

"Yeah?" he asked, afraid that he'd done something wrong.

She smiled at him. "Do that again."

Dwayne smiled and kissed her like she wanted him to. She placed her hands on his chest and smoothed them up to his shoulders, touching his skin under his jacket. He was mesmerized by the feeling of her warm skin against his cooler skin to the point that he didn't realize a security guard had shown up until the man touched him with his baton.

"All right, you two. Take the show elsewhere," the man said, looking miffed. "This is a family friendly place."

Dwayne gave the man a look. "Seriously?"

"Seriously, and you can drop the attitude, sonny," the security guard stated, earning a small giggle from Autumn. "Missy, you're in trouble too. So I don't want to hear you giggling like a good school girl."

"Oh no, sir, anything but that," Autumn murmured, eyes going wide, but Dwayne knew she wasn't afraid. She gripped Dwayne's hand. "C'mon. Let's go somewhere else, hon."

Dwayne sent the security guard a dark look and followed after Autumn.

Don't worry. He'll be dead before dawn…

Yeah, what else are brothers for?

Besides sneaking around with your girl?

The dark haired vampire rolled his eyes and followed Autumn towards the entrance to the boardwalk. She pulled him over to his motorcycle and then turned to face him.

"You have something on your mind," she commented, studying his eyes.

"I'm just thinking about how much I want to kiss you," Dwayne said, which was a half truth because he really did want to keep kissing her.

"I don't see anything that's going to stop you." Autumn sat on the motorcycle and looked up at him.

Dwayne cupped her face with his hands and kissed her gently. Autumn kissed him back and smiled when he pulled back, resting his forehead against hers.

"There's going to be plenty of that in the future," she guessed.

"Definitely," Dwayne promised.

"Good because I've been waiting a really long time for you to kiss me." Autumn poked him in the chest. "So it's about damn time."

Dwayne chuckled and mounted his motorcycle. "Keep talking and we'll end up finding somewhere to crash for the night for more than kisses."

Autumn wrapped her arms around him. "Don't tempt me with a good time, Dwayne."

He laughed and tore off into the night, hearing his brothers' approving laughter in his head. Yeah, this girl was perfect.
