7. A Day In Venice.
Toey pops her head through the top of the cake that she hide, replacing a woman name Lucy before. She's been looking for Rory, but it's been hard to locate the man himself. According to some local, Rory is in a pub with some friends. Since there's some pub around Ledworth, it's taking a long time for Tory and the Doctor to find Amy's fiancé.
But now, looking at people's stunned reaction and the sudden stop on the music, plus finding Rory, she's certain that she's in the right place.
"Hey Rory!" Tory greeted him with a big smile. "Good to see you again! Sorry for suddenly appears like this. The Doctor and I have been looking for you and I'm getting tired of searching like normal ways. I'm glad my method works!" She steps out of the cake. "Now, Rory, we need to talk about your future wife, Amy. She wants to talk to you about... something. Not my area, since I'm a child. Too 'ew' for me." She looks at others with confusion. "What?"
Rory immediately shook his head, trying to wrap up this whole thing. "I think they're wondering where's the... the woman that should be inside?"
"Oh, that woman?" Tory realized. "I ditch her in a dumpster behind. You'll find her shivering with a long jacket. She deserves it."
Everyone starts to get nervous. "Why?" Rory asked.
"Because she's agree on this? Not to mention, her occupation? Honestly, you people are trully irks me in wrong way. I mean, hiring a stripper? On a day before your marriage?" She gaves a disgusting expression. "What's wrong with you?" She rubbed her backhead. "But anyway, that's all I want to tell you. Meet me and the Doctor at Amy's house. We'll be waiting for you."
As the Time Lady left the pub, Rory and his friends just standing, completely stunned. "That girl... is bizzare," one of them speaked.
"More like insane," another added.
Rory couldn't agree more.
The Doctor is in a harness seat in the space underneath the TARDIS console doing some welding work while Tory observes the console devices per his instruction. The girl notices that Amy's pacing nervously while Rory looks dumfound.
"Oh! The life out there, it dazzles," the Doctor blurted. "I mean, it blinds you to the things that are important. We've seen it devour relationships and plans..."
Rory looks down at the Doctor, still shock, as TARDIS experiences a small explosion.
"Ohhh! It's meant to do that," he assured, "because for one person to have seen all that, to taste the glory and then go back, it will tear you apart. So... I'm sending you somewhere. Together."
"Whoa! What, like a date?" Amy asked, stop pacing, seems relax.
"Anywhere you want and any time you want," Tory added with the Doctor walks up the steps to them at the console. "One condition, it has to be amazing."
"Oh! Oh! How about the Moulin Rouge in 1890?" Tory suggested, bouncing around. "Or the first Olympic Games! I would looove to go there!"
The Doctor's patting Rory's shoulder. "It's a lot to take in, isn't it?" He guessed and heads up a set of stairs. "Tiny box, huge room inside. What's that about? Let me explain."
"It's another dimension," Rory responded.
"It's basically another dimen... What?"
"After Prisoner Zero, I've been reading up on all the latest scientific theories; FTL travel, parallel universes."
Tory smirks. "I like that," she praised him. "Usually people just says 'it's bigged on the inside!' It's getting boring, honestly. Waste of time. I want to meet someone who actually a fan or knows some sci-fi stuffs."
"But I like the bit when someone says that! I always look forward to that!" He pouted.
So, this date," Amy interjected. "I'm kind of done with running down corridors. What do you think, Rory?"
Rory rubbed his forehead. To be fair, he had no problem with Amy's wish for him to travel as well. He knows that she wants him to experience what she feels. But part of him... is concern. Like... does that mean Amy doesn't want to live with him as a normal couple? Does she find a marriage life as a boring thing? Because truly, as much as he finds all of this as something amazing, part of him worry that the longer they stay like this, the longer he and Amy forget about their ordinary life they will have after marriage.
But maybe he's just too concern with this whole deal. Mels often told him to be relax with every situation they're in. Beside, when will he get this chance of moving around time and space as free as this? "Yeah, sure. I'm in."
The Doctor looks at the couple. An idea pops at his head. "How about something... romantic?" He suggested as press their destination.
Tory exits the TARDIS, finding that the box landing at Venice near some market. "Whoa," she muttered as the Doctor steps outside.
"Venice! Venezia! La Serenissima! Impossible city. Preposterous city!" The Doctor introduced to Amy and Rory, who look in amusement. "Founded by refugees running from Attila the Hun. It was just a collection of little wooden huts in the marsh, but became one of the most powerful cities in the world. Constantly being invaded, constantly flooding... constantly... Just beautiful! Oh, you gotta love Venice. And so many people did. Byron, Napoleon, Casanova. Oooh, that reminds me." He checks his watch. "1580. That's all right. Casanova doesn't get born for 145 years. Don't want to run into him. I owe him a chicken."
"You owe Casanova a chicken?" Rory asked.
"Long story. We had a bet."
An man dressed in black steps out in front of the Doctor. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Papers, if you please. Proof of residency, current bill of medical inspection."
The Doctor holds up the psychic paper. "There you go, fella," he said, letting the man takes the paper. "All to your satisfaction, I think you'll find."
The man bows deeply. "I am so sorry, Your Holiness. I didn't realise."
Tory takes back the paper. "If you don't mind, what exactly is your job?"
"Checking for aliens, visitors from foreign lands what might bring the plague with them."
"Oh, that's nice. See where you bring me?" Amy slaps the Doctor's arm. "The plague!"
"Don't worry, Viscountess," the man bows. "No, we're under quarantine here, no-one comes in, no-one goes out, and all because of the grace and wisdom of our patron, Signora Rosanna Calvierri," he denoted, points to crest on the box he's carrying.
"That's very... unique," Tory frowns. "From what I know, the plague died out years ago."
"Not out there. No, Signora Calvierri has seen it with her own eyes. Streets are piled high with bodies, she said."
"Did she, now?" The Doctor wondered, looking at Tory curiously. Whoever this Rosanna Calvierri is isn't a normal persom.
Rory reaches the psychic paper from Tory as the official goes off to question someone else. The Doctor and Amy continue on traveling.
"According to this, I am your eunuch!" Rory noted.
"Really? And what am I?" Tory wondered.
"Oh. Uh, same as me."
"Really?" Tory looks at the Doctor, crossing both arms, annoyed. "Oh, very funny. I see where this is going."
"I have no idea what are you talking about," the Doctor simply stated.
"This is because I left that girl on the dumpster. For the record, she deserves it!"
"She's scared!"
"Doesn't excused that she agree on a notion to becomes... ugh!" She grimaced.
"It's for a stag party! There's nothing harm in that! It's perfectly normal!"
"It's not for me!"
"You're the Historian! You know about this!"
"Still irks me!"
Amy folded her arms while Rory simply took in a deep breath, both look so annoyed with them bickering like stupid children often did.
"Who's that?" Rory suddenly noticed a woman and a group of girls walking in two lines, all wearing white gowns of varying designs. His question brings Amy and the Time Lords at them.
A black man runs up to them.
"What do you want?" The older woman asked as he's lifting the girls' veils.
"Where's my Isabella?" He inquired.
"What are you doing? Get away from there."
But he keeps searching. "Isabella! Isabella! It's me!"
One of the other girls comes forward and hisses at him, causing the man falls to the ground. Tory notices two fangs at that girl before. Like a vampire.
"Girls, come along!" The woman ordered and all girls continue their procession. A man holds his foot on that man's chest, keeping him on the ground.
"She's gone," he told him and leaves.
"Isabella! It's me!" The man yelled with two guards lift him from the ground.
"What was that about?"
"No idea," Tory admitted. "Stay here!"
She and the Doctor leaves, following that man for more information of what happen back then. They keep following him into a narrow passage, make sure nobody heard or notice them. The Doctor immediately asking him. "Who were those girls?"
He stops and looks at the Doctor and Tory. "I thought everyone knew about the Calvierri school."
"Our first day here," he gestures to himself and Tory. "Parents do all sorts of things to get their children into good schools. They move house, they change religion."
"But why are you trying to get her out?" Tory asked in a quiet tone.
"Something happens in there. Something magical, something evil. My own daughter didn't recognise me. And the girl who pushed me away, her face... like an animal."
The Doctor puts arm around his shoulder. "I think it's time me and my sister met this Signora Calvierri."
Tory and the Doctor watches as the man, Guido, approaches the guards of the school for distraction. "You have my daughter. Isabella!"
"You're not coming in, stop there!" A guard warned him. "We've told you..."
"Come on," the Doctor called his sister so they move.
"You have my daughter. Isabella! I demand you let me see my daughter," Guido yelled while the Doctor uses the sonic screwdriver on the canal gate. "Isabella! It's me! It's your father."
The guards start to get warry. "I'll arrest you..."
"Isabella!"
Tory gives Guide a silent signal in a quick move, letting him know that they're already inside. As Guido left, the Time Lords make their way down some stone steps and into a chamber.
On one wall, the Doctor spies a mirror. "Hello, handsome," he complimented, straightens tie and checks teeth.
"Ehem," Tory nudged the Doctor, gesturing behind him.
"Who are you?" The girls in white gown before asked in unison.
The Doctor turns to face them then quickly looks back mirror. He keeps doing that for a while. Tory just shook her head, but also notices they're not visible at the mirror. Kinda like... well, a vampire. Or at least, from many Vampire stories said.
"How are you doing that?" The Doctor wondered. "I... am... loving it. You're like Houdini, only five scary girls, only he was shorter. Will be shorter. I'm rambling."
"I'll ask you again, signor, signorina. Who are you?" They repeated.
"Well, who cares about us. It's not fun," Tory chimmed in. "What we want to know is who are you girls? Why wearing those lame gown? Too white, you know."
"Leave now, signor, signorina, or we shall call for the steward... if you are lucky."
"Oooh. So spoooky!" Tory provoked and all girls hiss to them, showing their bare fangs and advancing on the duo. "Is that all you've got? Some hiss and fangs? Mind you, I've been dealing worse than this. Ever heard of Daleks?"
The Doctor soon grabs her hand, leading them to the doorway. "Tell us the whole plan," he demanded, but nothing happen. "That one may not work. Listen, I would love to stay here. This whole thing... I'm thrilled. Oh, this is Christmas!" He cheered up and run up with Tory to the stairs as the girls hiss after them.
Outside the school, Tory notices night has risen up here. And not much later, the duo meet up with Amy across the canal from the school.
"Doctor! Tory!" Amy called.
"We just met vampire girls!" Tory announced happily as Amy saying, "We just saw a vampire!"
"And creepy girls and everything," the Doctor added.
"Vampires!" Amy empathized and three of them jump up and down together excitedly before Rory joins them.
"Hey, Rory!" Tory greeted him.
"We think we just saw a vampire," he told her.
"Us too," she patting his shoulder. "It's amazing! And wild! And crazy! And... well, anything! And I looove it!"
Rory just stares at Tory while taking some breath. He often though Mels, his childhood friend like Amy, is quite crazy person. But this girl... she truly is mad. Well, not really mad. But still can be quite bizzare and out of her mind.
"We need to get back there," she speaked, shocking Rory.
"What?!"
"How do we do that?" Amy asked.
"Back in where?!"
"Come and meet my new friend," the Doctor offered.
Inside Guido's house, the man has brought out a map of Venice to them. The Doctor, Tory, and Amy are at the table looking it over with him as Rory sits back among some barrels. "As you saw, there's no clear way in," Guido elaborated. "The House of Calvierri is like a fortress. But there's a tunnel underneath it, with a ladder and shaft that leads up into the house. I tried to get in once myself, but I hit a trapdoor."
"You need someone on the inside," Amy suggested.
"No," the Time Lords disagreed.
"You don't even know what I was going to say!"
"We pretend you're an applicant for the school to get you inside and tonight you come down and open the trapdoor to let us in," Tory guessed.
"Oh. So you know what I was going to say!"
"That's what I was thinking. But I found that idea to be stupid, considering I'm looking like 12 years old. And judging from those girls, there's no way I can enter that place. Plus, brother dear won't let me in."
"Because I don't want you to become like those girls," the Doctor insisted.
"There is another option," Guido gestures at Rory's direction. "I work at the Arsenale. We build the warships for the navy."
The Doctor stands up and sniffs the barrels. "Gunpowder," he noticed, puts hand on Rory's shoulder. "Most people just nick stationery from where they work."
"I mean, we can uses those," Tory proposed as Rory soon slides slowly off the barrel and backs away into a dead rabbit hanging by the fireplace. "I wanna try one."
"No way. We are not going to use this."
"What do you suggest, then? We wait until they turn her into an animal?" Guido pressed, turns away and pokes fire to calm down.
"I'll be there 3, 4 hours tops," Amy proposed.
"No freaking way!" Tory insisted. "You have to bring me in."
"What?!" Rory and the Doctor protested.
"Okay, so what other choice we have?"
"I can go with Amy and introduces her as my daughter," the Doctor proposed.
"Your daughter? You look about 9," Amy pointed out.
"My sister looks around 9, not me."
"Oi!" Tory disagreed.
"Brother, then," he suggested.
"Too weird," Amy admitted, gazing between the Doctor and Tory before suggesting, "Fiancé."
"Ugh, even more weird!" Tory commented, making a grimace face. "Rory's your fiancé, not the Doctor!"
"Thank you," Rory agreed, happy that Tory doesn't want Amy behaving like that to the Doctor.
"I know that! But it's better if they don't know we're engaging," Amy looks at Rory. "Would makes thing more terrible if something's bad happen." She sighs. "What about brother? You can be my brother."
"Why is him being your brother weird, but with me, it's okay?"
"Because he and Tory are brother and sister. It feels weird."
Rory frowns. "Wait. You two are brother-sister? I thought you two are father and daughter."
Tory groans, pinched the bridge of her nose. "This is why I hate being young again! I'm suppose to be around 15-16 years old, for goodness sake, not a kid! But guess what? My body won't cooperate and just makes me look like an elementary school girl! It's annoying that people would assume the Doctor as my father and not as my brother!"
"Okay, okay," Amy calms the girl down, never seeing her acting like that before. Clearly she hates being treat like a child or as the Doctor's daughter. Which is quite ironic, since that girl is such a childish one. "So if they're not vampires...?"
"Makes you wonder what could be so bad it doesn't actually mind us thinking it's a vampire?" The Doctor wondered as well.
"This whole thing is mental!" Rory protested.
"Trust me, Rory. This is nothing compare to what the Doctor and I did in the past," Tory told him, which didn't helping Rory's unease feeling.
Later after sending Amy inside the house, Tory, the Doctor and Rory sit back in a gondola as Guido, dressed in Rory's clothes, guides them along the canal.
"She'll be fine," the Doctor assured Rory.
"You can promise me that, can you?" He asked.
"As much as we can," Tory asserted, crossing her fingers on both her hearts. "If I were inside... I would have keep Amy's safe. Sadly this isn't the case."
The gondola has arrived at its destination. "We're here," Guido told them.
Carrying a lit torch, the Doctor opens the creaking gate, Tory and Rory follows.
"Right. Okay," the Doctor said. "I'll go first. If anything happens to me, go back..."
"Go back to Guido, we get it," Tory finished him.
"What Amy said back inside the TARDIS, is it true?" Rory asked. "About me?"
"Now?! You want to do this now?!" The Doctor hissed, stops as they are just outside a wooden door before keep goes up towards a door.
"To keep the intense? Well, why not?" Tory shrugged, follows him with Rory, continuing through a narrow passage. "For your answer, yes Rory, she wants you to join us." She glances at him. "You're worry, aren't you? With Amy behaviour before?"
Rory feels embarass now that a girl like Tory can spots that.
"I think Amy was unsure... and worry," the Time Lady added. "She looked agitate before confessed about asking us to let you come in. I got an impression that she genuinely loves and cares for you, Rory. But her desire to travel with us for her magical dreams and fantasy lives screw her mind up, confusing her. She was torn between traveling inside the TARDIS and staying with you. Even now. Both important, yet at the same time also different, ready to torn apart." She looks at Rory again, who seems suprised. "That's my assumption, anyway."
"You... you think so?"
Tory nods.
A strong gust of wind blows out the torch, leaving them in the dark. "Can we go and see the vampires now, please?" He begged, really wants to focus on their mission.
Later, the Doctor pushes the grate open and climbs out, using Rory as a ladder. "Push..." he whispered, gets out and then reaches in to pull Rory and Tory out. "Come on. There we are." Then, he realized something. "Amy! Where's Amy? I can't see a thing."
"Just as well I brought this, then," Rory noted, pulls out a small pencil torch before Tory pulls out a long large flashlight from her overall dress' pocket.
"Ultraviolet. Portable sunlight," Tory explained.
"Yours is bigger than mine."
"Let's not go there," the Doctor urged him.
"If we cancel now, we lose the deposit on the village hall, the salsa band," Rory sighs as the Doctor opens a chest on the ground, revealing skeletal remains. "What happened to them?"
"They've had all the moisture taken out of them."
"That's what vampires do, right? They drink your blood and replace it with their own."
"Yeah, except they haven't just had their blood taken, but all the water in their bodies," he added, remember that time when he, Romana II, and Adric encounter some actual vampires in the past.
"Why did they die? Why aren't they like the girls in the school?"
"My guess? Not everyone survives the process," Tory concluded.
Rory walks away in frustration then stops, points at the Doctor. "You know what's dangerous about you? It's not that you make people take risks. It's that you make them want to impress you. You make it so they don't want to let you down. You have no idea how dangerous you make people to themselves when you're around."
"Does that mean I'm dangerous as well, Rory?" Tory kindly asked him.
Rory rubbed his head, starts to feel a tiny bit of uncertain. There's no bitter remark of her question nor there are any tone of hurt. She ask him like a child often asked about innocent things they don't understand or find it impressive. Which really just makes it hard for Rory to answer it.
Sure, she acts out of ordinary and have some stranges, or crazy, ideas and personality that close to his close friend Mels. And he admit, he does feel caution of this girl ever since he was a kid. Amy often told him and Mels how weird Tory was and, to some extend, seems quite mad. Mels found that amusing and awesome, but he got scared after knew that, which Mels always joke around. He's afraid that Tory can becomes some scary psychopaths from those horror/thriller movies Mels forced them to watched. But after met her personally with Prisoner Zero problem, he starts to feel like Tory isn't a scary person he thought she was. But that doesn't mean she's 100% innocent.
Even now, he can sense some madness around her, ready to burst out while mask it with some form of big smile.
"Who are you?" Some girls demanded as they all appear, each from her own archway, forcing Rory to forget his thought and focus to reality.
The Doctor takea the ultraviolet from Tory and light up to them as they get closer. "We should run. Run!" He shouted as he, Tory, and Rory run from the courtyard followed by the girls.
They run along to corridor and stop when they encounter the older woman and two other men.
"Cab for Amy Pond?" The Doctor asked as all girls behind already approach from the other end of the corridor, blocking their escape.
"This rescue plan, not exactly watertight, is it?" Signora Rosanna asked.
Tory raises her eyebrown, hugged herself before spreading her arms, releases some of her energy power, knocking all girls except Signora Rosanna and one man. "Wanna test?" Tory dared her, her irises glowing in purple.
Amy and Isabella runs into the corridor from an intersecting hall. "Rory!"
"Amy!" Rory called.
"Quickly, through here!" Isabella said, runs back the way they came followed by four of them as some girls start to wake up.
"They're not vampires!" Amy informed them.
"What?!" The Doctor asked as he's using his sonic on the door.
"I saw them, I saw her. They're not vampires. They're aliens!"
"Told ya!" Tory gleefully replied.
"That's good news?!" Rory frowns. "What is wrong with you people?!"
"In case you're forgot Rory, I'm quite mad. Shouldn't you aware by that?"
The Doctor and Tory hear the aliens as they begin to break through the door and urge Rory forward into a passage. "Come on, move!" He urged, brandishes the ultraviolet light again as a weapon so that man won't approach them "Keep moving! Come on, guys."
Tory opens the doorway and ushers the others forward down the stairs to the canal where Guido is waiting. "Come on, everyone!" She told as Amy, the Doctor, and Rory get out. Isabella suddenly stops in the sunlight and puts up her hands to block her eyes. "Come on, Isabella!"
The Doctor runs back to help. "Come on, run!"
"I can't!" Isabella hesitant before dragged back inside. Tory quickly uses her power to help Isabella, but she's too late as that man who follows them smirk, closing the door. The moment she intended to destroy it, the door just won't budge at all. She tries to kick the door and got electrified instead, causing her to scream and yelped in pain. The Doctor tries to uses his sonic, but nothing work. In anger, he slams the door and also get electrified, making him unconsciouss.
Rory and Amy run to check on the duo. "Is he dead?" Amy asked as Rory checks Tory's left leg and the Doctor's pulse.
"No, he's breathing," the nurse informed as Tory keeps muttering "ow, ow ow."
Tory smiles happily as Signora Rosanna walks into the throne room. "I know, not that impressive," the Time Lady admitted. "Just an elementary girl in this room of yours. But since your... son, I guess, who made my brother dear lost conscious, he can't be in here. Which is why," she stands up, clapping both hands. "I'm here, replacing him! So nice to finally meet you... Sister of the Water from Saturyne."
Signora Rosanna smiles. "Let me guess. You or your brother is the owner of the psychic paper. Then I take it you're a refugee, like me?"
Tory steps down, looking at her with a big smile. "Well, I really cannot answer that question, right? I mean, it would be disadvantage of me, you know!" She made a steeple of her fingers. "Buuut, I'll give some some interesting game. How about... we share some info together? Girl to girl. What do you say? Agree?"
"Your question?"
"This isn't your real form. You're using a perception filter. Doesn't change your features, but manipulates the brainwaves of the person looking at you. But seeing one of you for the first time in a mirror, the brain doesn't know what to fill the gap with, so leaves it blank, which is why no reflection can be seen. But then why can we see your big teeth?"
She laughs. "Self preservation over rides the mirage. The subconscious perceives the threat and tries to alert the conscious brain."
"I see. Is Isabella still alive?"
"My turn," Signora Rosanna replied. "Where are you from?"
Tory hesitant for a moment. "Gallifrey."
"You and your brother should be in a museum. Or in a mausoleum," the woman told her.
"Why are you here?"
"We ran from the Silence. Why are you here?"
"Wedding present," Tory shrugged before notices something. "The Silence?"
"There were cracks. Some were tiny... some were as big as the sky. Through some we saw worlds and people, and through others we saw Silence... and the end of all things. We fled to an ocean like ours, and the crack snapped shut behind us... Saturnyne was lost."
That's certainly... interesting. "So let me guess. You're planning to make Earth as your new planet?"
"And you and your brother can help me. We can build a new society here, as others have. What do you say?"
"Meh. Too boring," Tory shrugged. "My turn. Is Isabella's alive?"
"Isabella?"
"The girl who saved my companion."
"Oh, deserters must be executed. Any general will tell you that," Signora Rosanna responded. "I need an answer, Themis. A partnership. Any which way you choose."
Tory gave a bitter laugh. "I'll say... I wholeheartly disagree with your plan."
"Carlo?" Signora Rosanna called as a man approaches. "You're right. We're nothing alike. I will bend the heavens to save my race, while you and your brother witness it."
As Carlo ready to drags Tory away, the girl simply waves her hand around, sending Carlo few meters into a near wall. "Well, it's a nice conversation," she remarked, smiles again. "But let me tell you, Signora. My brother and I will failed your plan. Why, you may ask? One, your plan's so boring. And two, you didn't know Isabella's name, which I'm certain my brother will say to your face if he's here with a very unpleasent face."
With that, Tory leaves the room while bouncing on her toes.
As Tory return back to Guido's house, she stops moving the moment she sees the Doctor covering Amy's and Rory's mouth with his hand and Rory covering Guido's face with his hand.
"Sister dear," he called her, looking like he's serious but actually not. "What did you get from your little chat with her?"
Tory plays with her black hair. "Well... her planet dies, so they run through a crack in space and time, before end up here. Makes some proposal of joining, which is stupid itself. I mean, a planet with bunch of alien fish? Gross!"
The Doctor nods. "She closes off the city and, one by one, changes people into creatures like her to start a new gene pool. Got it. Then what? They come from the sea, they can't survive forever on land, so what's she going to do?"
"I mean, she wants to save her race. But Earth environment isn't suitable for her people," Tory made a steeple of her fingers. "So she must prepare for it. Have a plan."
"Did she said anything about it.
"She did said, 'I shall bend the heavens to save my race.' So dramatic, if you ask me."
The Doctor slowly moves his hands from Amy's and Rory's mouth to their heads, forcing them to nod. "Bend the heavens... Bend... the heavens... She's going to sink Venice."
Guido looks horrified. "She's... she's going to sink Venice?"
"And repopulate it with the girls she's transformed."
"You can't repopulate somewhere with just women," Rory argued. "You need... blokes."
"She's got blokes," Amy noted.
"Where?" The Doctor asked.
"In the canal. She said to me, 'There are 10,000 husbands waiting in the water.'"
"Only the male offspring survived the journey here. She's got 10,000 children swimming in the canals, waiting for Mum to make them some compatible girlfriends. Ew. I mean, I've been around a bit, but, really, that's... that's... Ew."
"Yikes," Tory added, frowns as she heard a loud clattering from the floor above. The others follow her, look up at the ceiling. "It's very noisy up there."
"There aren't any people upstairs," Guido informed.
"I knew you were going to say that," the Doctor admitted. "Did anyone else know he was going to say that?"
Tory raises her hand. "I do. And it's getting loud."
"Is it the vampires?" Rory asked.
"Like I said, they're not vampires," the Doctor disagreed. "Fish from space."
Tory heard a loud thump and breaking glass as the converted girls enter the room. There're more outside the window. All of them stand quickly, startled. The Doctor soon brandishes the ultraviolet light and Guido crosses himself.
"Aren't we on the second floor?" Rory asked as the girls at the window break the glass and Tory knocks them using her power.
"Better be quick!" Tory suggested and they all run downstairs.
"Give me the lamp," Guido insisted and the Doctor let him uses it on the girls.
Tory opens the door and let Amy and Rory run out. "Keep moving!" She instructed as the Doctor and Guido also out.
But then, Guido stops at the door before closing it, locking the Time Lords out. "Stay away from the door, Doctor, Tory."
In a panic, the Doctor pounds on door. "No! Guido! What are you doing?! I'm not leaving you! What are you doing?!"
"Let me try!" Tory pushes him aside and uses her power to open the door. She and the Doctor immediately running back inside.
They slowly can heard a faint of Guido's voice. "Come on. That's it... Come on."
"Guido!" The Doctor yelled as he and Tory find Guido picks up a candle in his free hand and backs up towards the barrels with all girls surround him.
"Leave!" He insisted.
Both Time Lords realizes what he's planning. Tory immediately uses her power to send Guido away from the house via a nearby window, while also lending the candle into the barriel as she and the Doctor turns from the house.
They're already outside the house as the explosion happens, throwing them to the ground.
"Wahooo!" Tory cheered, stands up, looking at the aftermath with satisfaction. "Now that's what I love about explosion!"
The Doctor groans, secretly making a mental note to never, ever, letting his sister touching or holding anything that can explodes. "Come on," he nudged her. "We have to find Amy and Rory."
After they find Rory and Amy, they move back to the school, only to find chaos already ensue. Storm already begins with lightening streaks across the sky.
"Rosanna's initiating the final phase," the Doctor realized.
"We need to stop her. Come on!" Amy said.
"No, no. Get back to the TARDIS."
"You can't stop her on your own."
"No, but he can, with my help," Tory asserted.
The Doctor shook his head. "Not this time, Historian."
"Oh my goodness, Doctor. We talked about this! What happen at Utopia and Naismith Mansion wasn't your fault! I made that mistake. Mine, not you."
"I know," he's holding her shoulder, knowing that she said that so he won't be concern about her safety much and stop blaming him from her deaths before, just like he said to her second incarnation. "But that's not what I'm concern for. I need you to take care of Amy and Rory for me, okay? Just let me do this."
Tory pouted. "You're such an annoying brother."
"I know, sister dear. I know."
"Uuugh. Fine! I'll keep them safe." She gives the Doctor a serious look. "If you do something stupid, you'll better be prepare with my rambling and my wrath. Understand?"
"On it."
"Come on, Amy, Rory," Tory said, dragging them back into the TARDIS.
"But..."
"No but, Amy. Just stop arguing and comply. Better than be sorry."
Amy rolla her eyes, but eventually agree with Tory. She already saw how the girl got angry before. She won't want to face it again.
They look out the sky from the opposite side of the canal.
"Oh, my God! What is going on?" Amy wondered.
"The sky, it's like it's boiling," Rory muttered.
"He can handle it," Tory assured them, looking around much serious. "Keep going."
They make their way through the streets and soon are blocked by a wet man that Tory recognized from last night. The one who always stay close to Signora Rosanna.
Rory picks up some candlesticks and holds them up in the form of a cross. "Amy, Tory run!"
He aimply swipes the candlesticks away and moves towards Amy.
"This way, you freak!" Rory mocked, but he doesn't change his target to Amy. "Don't! This...!this... this way, you big, stupid, great... SpongeBob! The only thing I've seen uglier than you is... your mum!"
Tory gasped, holding her mouth, clearly not expecting Rory to said that. And luckily, that's exactly what they need, as the man turns to Rory. "Did you just say something about Mummy?"
"Yeah," Tory inclined. "To begin with, she's sooo stupid. I mean, changing Earth into some giant ocean with no land? That's so suck. And her plan for making all woman into a fish for her 10.000 son? Ugh, even more stupid. It's so yikes, so gross, and so ew as well, I can't even begin to form some other words that indicating how much I loathe your mum's plan."
Rory gulped of Tory's claim that she's innocently imparted to this man. She's clearly searching for death wish. He soon picks up a broom and brandishes it like a sword. The man pulls out a real sword, making Rory partially regret his choice now.
Tory rolls her eyes and picking her sword from her scabbard that she's carrying. "This is how you holding a sword," she told him, smiling. "Oh, I'm so glad Elizabeth II gave me this sword."
"Elizabeth II gave you a sword?" Rory frowns, find it really hard for a royal family of Britain gave a child a sword. But before Tory can say anything, that man attacks her and she blocks with her sword. He attacks again, and like before, Tory avoiding it with ease and excitememt, not concerning much about being targeted.
"I'm getting bored, you know," Tory shared, pouting as the man thrusts his sword through her stomach that she dodges with her sword. "And my goodness, you're sooo stink! Your stupid mum clearly didn't teach you how to clean yourself better."
In anger, he lift his word, ready to cut her head as Tory's get into a corner of a wall. But Tory soon leap backward, landing on the ground while kneeling, and thrust her sword right at his head, making the hologram showing his true physical form, and dies in the process.
Tory put the sword back at its scabbard, looking at Amy and Rory who stunned. She simply ignore it and looking above. "Okay, you know what? I think we should get back to my brother. It's been few minutes yet he still hasn't solve the situation."
And for once, Rory has no objection for that.
The Doctor enters from the main door as Amy, Tory, and Rory enter from the side. "Get out!" The man insisted. "I need to stabilise the storm," he added and runs to the throne.
"We're not leaving you," Rory declared.
"Right," he walks back to them. "So one minute it's, 'You make people a danger to themselves,' the next it's, 'We're not leaving you!' But if one of you gets squashed or blown up or eaten, who gets..."
The ground shakes and Tory creates some shield surround her and others as some of the ceiling falls down to the ground.
"What was that?" Rory asked, concern.
"I think that's an earthquake," Tory guessed.
"An earthquake?" Amy frowns.
"Manipulate the elements, it can trigger earthquakes," the Doctor explained. "But don't worry about them."
"No?" Rory wondered.
"No. Worry about the tidal waves caused by the earthquake," he added and faces the throne again. "Right, Rosanna's throne is the control hub but she's locked the program, so tear out every single wire and circuit in the throne. Go crazy. Hit it with a stick, anything." The Doctor heads for throne and begin to check wires. "We need it to shut down and re-route control to the secondary hub, which I'm guessing will also be the generator."
Tory nods as she, Amy, and Rory start to pull all the wires they can, causing them sparks. After makes sure they pull all of them, the trio heading outside where they can see the Doctor climbs up onto the rail, gripping the column.
"There he is!" Rory pointed out at him.
Tory watches in amusement as the Doctor climbs to the top using the cable and reaches the giant sphere at the pinnacle. Getting in trouble, brother dear? the girl sneakily asked using telepathic.
Something like that.
"Come on!" Rory shouted. They can see the Doctor opens the sphere to reveal the device that is creating the storm. He begins to examine it to see how to stop it.
"Come on! Come on!" Amy and Rory encouraged him.
Can you please tell them to be quiet? The Doctor begrudgely begged Tory as he's trying to be focus.
Tory smirks. Oh. What's the fun doing that?
Meanie, he added and finds a simple toggle switch and flips it. The rains stops, the clouds clear, and birds begin to sing. Amy and Rory look around before laughing and hugging each other.
The Doctor closes the sphere and looks down at the street with a little wave.
"You did it!" Rory cheered.
That was awesome, Tory admitted with a smile.
The Time Lords run back inside the school, intend to find Signora Rosanna. Eventually, they find her walking and standing on a plank with white gown.
"Rosanna!" The Doctor called.
"One city to save an entire species. Was that so much to ask?" Signor Rosanna asked.
Tory simply watching, crossing both arms on her chest as the Doctor's slowly approaches her. "You can't go back and change time. You mourn but you live. I know, Rosanna, I did it."
Signora Rosanna turns her head. "Tell me, Doctor, Themis... can your conscience carry the weight of another dead race?" She simply asked. "Remember us. Dream of us."
With that, she falls into the water.
"No... No!" The Doctor cried, looks down into the water as the bubbling that keeps happening suddely stops.
"There's nothing else we can do about that," Tory grimly said as she approaches the Doctor. Her expression shows stern and cold. The woman herself choose death over living. And as much as cold this is sound... she doesn't want to force someone's will.
Afterward, four of them head back to the TARDIS. Before, they check on Guido, who's already wake up and cleaning the mess at his house. They informed him about what they did and Guido felt glad upon hearing that news. But the Time Lords know that despite that, the man still grieve over the loss of his daughter Isabella.
"Now, then, what about you two, eh?" The Doctor asked. "Next stop Leadworth Register Office? Maybe I can give you away."
"Stay with us," Amy begged before Rory can say something. "Please. I want you to stay... if you don't mind."
Rory glances at Amy and the Time Lords. He recalled what Tory said before regarding Amy and her traveling. "I would like that."
Amy smiles and kisses Rory. "Thank you," she said to Rory and unlocks TARDIS door. "Hey, look at this. Got my spaceship, got my boys and girl. My work here is done." She goes inside closing door behind her.
Rory scoffs and looks at the Time Lords. "We are not her boys."
Tory smirks as the Doctor claps a hand on his shoulder. "Yeah, we are."
"Yeah, we are."
The Time Lady suddenly stops in open doorway. "Silence," she murmured.
The Doctor looks at her. "What?"
"Nothing," she simply added and enter the box.
Note: I hope this version of the story can make up with what I changed in last chapter regarding Amy and her kissed the Doctor. Here, I want to flesh out Amy's decision upon traveling with the Time Lords and staying with Rory with their marriage that get alluded in Amy's Choice.
