Childish longings
Author Notes : Greetings! Marnie x Gloria, as written on the door... Well, that's a bit more complicated. I usually tend to switch both character's Point of View, but here I will solely write with Marnie's. Also, you are currently reading a french author's work. One of my favourite feature while writing fanfics is to use the characters as my plaything. Sooo... I make up reasons for my character's body to be as I wish. Here on this fanfic, I'll start with a base Marnie you're used to and change her, as this fanfic's goal is literally meant to represent how characters may evolve with time Also, playing in french does not help at all with her dialect I am truly sorry, but won't write with her own dialect... Now, before you can read that first bit of text, I'll also add that her name won't be Marnie. It will be "Rosemary". Because it's the French name; it sounds pretty bad in my language, and better in English. Well then, as I plan on doing other transformations, I will write these paragraphs at the beginning or the end of the chapters. Also, it is a T fanfiction because I put a lot of my own mindset into my creation, and I want my reader ready to be a part of a constructive dialogue if any is required. At least not to feel betrayed by the choices I'll do.
Enjoy!
... How does she enjoy herself this much?
This girl, always goofin' round, a second ago with that one poison gym leader, and now with Nessa and Sonia... This girl's always acting so careless, no tactful at all, always brimming with light even when she's got nothing for her... This frail, brownish body of hers. Way too short to compare with madam Nessa, way too immature to even treat miss Sonia the way she is now...
« Got your eyes on the little champ? »
I didn't notice Melony sitting on a rock, maybe due to the mist of the hot spring...
— Don't you think she acts up way too much?
— Do you? The little champ is Galar's pride in the moment. I believe you are one of her closest friend... Are you not?
— It's not that... »
I squeezed my towel, glancing once again at her bare body, from legs to head, and her forever so bright smile... She waved at us, and my arm wouldn't answer back
« Jealous, then?
— I might. »
And now I'm the one not to control myself!
« You're no match for her, you know?
Uh? The way she spoke. She's almost glarin' at me...
— No match for her? What do you mean?
— You're still a child, but you just look like some smitten teenager, can you prove me you don't feel anything of the sort towards her? »
Smitten teenager? Me? Gloria? Another splash in the water, and she's playing water sprayin' with Bea... I turned my face back at Melony, she almost looked surprised
« Now that's a good look you've got on your face. Did I piss you off?
— Why would you?
— That's a good thing you don't hold your tongue facing me. That should be the same with this girl, yet it's not; that's the main reason you're no match for her.
— Still at it?
— Only stating the truth. Look, she's coming over here.
— Uh? »
A water spray, and her drenched face, still smilin', a pack of water cupped by her hands
« You're alone, Rosemary? You don't wanna play a bit with us?
— I was... Would you mind if... Well, that's nothing. »
I wanted to join her, but I froze in place. Melony cleared her throat, still hidden by the bath's steam, Gloria's shrieked
« Whoa! Didn't see you Melony! You look gorgeous like that. Like... A mermaid? Do you like the comparison?
— A mermaid? That should do. I was born to bear the beauty of Circhester after all!
— And you sure d– »
A towel flew in front of us. Bea's. She grabbed Gloria with one arm, and used her other hand to play with her. Both of them pursued the way they started, fooling around like children...
« I am not saying that to be mean to you. Consider her feeling a bit, and you'll understand.
— Why are you so focused on that?! I messed up and I would already... Love her?
— As I said, things just do their things. As a mother, I can see it for people your age. Though I am not your mother, that's why I want to put my nose where it shouldn't be.
— Don't you say that it is wrong to your children?! »
Seriously, what is this exchange. Why is she so persistent? Trying to stand up, I almost dropped my towel. Melony's voice grew even more delighted seeing the mess she made of me
« Gloria is only interested in people who have confidence in themselves. You definitely don't have it. What about that time in the hotel room? You also ran away.
— When did you know about that?!
— I am a confident person, and Gloria made me her confidant. This girl likes you, but she can't be as fond of you as you are of her. She'll never say you're her friend. You are someone she enjoys being with for a given time, then she needs a break. That's always because your self-esteem is low. I may be crude with words, but I had to deal with this a lot. Think about it.
— Why would you offer help now of all time?
— Just think about it. I'll no longer be a gym leader when I convince my son to take over Circhester's gym. You and he both represent a new generation, and you have a lot on your mind bearing our own weight on your shoulder. I want to offer you support unlike your brother 's. We almost don't know each other... It would be a good experience for you. »
So she said, as she lifted her own weight and took the towel she had put beneath herself, with a nod, she told everyone she was off, then to enjoy ourselves.
Gloria then came to me and asked me if everything was alright, and if Melony badmouthed me for whatever reason. I told her it was alright, and she invited me to join in without a care in the world about anythin' else... She laughed a lot. Played a lot, Nessa and Sonia remained where they were, and Klara was still chatting with the girls she enrolled into her gym. In the end, I was left hanging, as I couldn't keep up with Bea and Gloria, both of them seemed to be in their world...
... Was it only that? Confidence? Self-esteem? I know I have things to improve, but was that the only reason I had left without any of them knowing?
