"SASUKE!"
Naruto caught the boy as he fell, the name flying out of his mouth as he panicked. There were too many senbon, too much blood, too much… too much-
Sasuke coughed, and blood followed. His mouth moved, but only a wheezing whisper came out.
"D-Don't talk! Don't move! Don't- don't you dare die!"
Sasuke choked, more blood coming out. "Naruto…"
"Stop! Stop it Sasuke!"
"I couldn't… keep my oath…"
"SHUT UP!"
"Don't… you dare die, Naruto…"
Naruto watched as Sasuke's eyes dropped, and his breathing stopped.
"He struck one blow on me…" The masked nin spoke, but Naruto wasn't listening, he was just looking at Sasuke, the senbon still in him.
Was he really dead? Sasuke, the 'genius' who was the top of their class? The 'prodigy' who was leagues above Naruto? How? How is he dead, but Naruto still alive? He remembered a few days ago, when he and the boy were training, long into the night to learn how to Tree Walk. How they'd helped each other. He remembered when the boy had pushed him over, to save him, the senbon embedding into his body.
"Don't worry, your death will come soon too."
Naruto felt an indescribable rage, filling every inch of his body. He felt chakra flood into his system. Chakra vapor rose from his body, erasing the scratches and holes left by the Senbon for fresh, unscarred skin.
He turned to the boy, the one who killed Sasuke, and everything turned red.
Naruto surged forward, the new chakra propelling him forward at a speed he'd never gone before. The masked nin panicked, and tried to throw senbon at him to slow him down so he could enter a mirror.
Naruto opened his mouth and yelled, and the senbon were sent flying away from the sheer density of the chakra that was sent out from the yell. His fist crashing into the mirror the masked nin was in. It shattered, and it's pieces scattered in the air, and Naruto turned his head to the mirror the boy was now in, and readied to attack it.
The masked nin tried jumping to another mirror to escape, and got grabbed by Naruto the moment he left the mirror lokcing one of his arms in place. The masked nin tried to pull their arm out, only for Naruto to crush it in his grasp, breaking the arm.
Then, Naruto roared, and punched the masked nin, shattering the mask, through the mirrors, straight at his living teammate, who was standing waiting for the nin.
Naruto watched as he was struck by the girl, and the nin fell to the ground. He then readied to surge forward and kill the nin, when he felt the chakra fade away. The overwhelming power he had disappearing into the seal.
The mirrors began to turn back into water, slowly melting and dripping onto the bridge. Naruto didn't care though, and walked through the hole in them he'd punched the nin through. He pulled out a kunai, and was about to kill the nin, when he saw his face, and paused.
Then right behind his teammate, the light exploded, white overloading his eyes, seeming to burn them. He took a step back, and started blinking to get the spots out of his eyes.
She screamed, a blood curdling, ear piercing, scream.
He managed to see just enough in time to watch his teammate fall over backwards.
"HINATA!"
Naruto rushed, the Kunai still in hand, to get to Hinata.
She hit the ground, and he slid right next to her, shaking her violently.
"Hey! Hey! Hinata! What's wrong?!" He shook and shook, but Hinata just laid on the ground, her eyes not opening.
"Don't worry. She'll be fine."
Naruto turned his head, and watched as the same white light erupted around Sasuke.
This time, Naruto was able to close his eyes to keep his vision. Enough to see the man in the light.
The kunai was out of his hand before he realised he'd even seen the man, who moved his head and let the knife fly right by his head.
"A little bit impatient there, aren't we?
Naruto tried to see the man, but the light was still glowing and obstructing his vision.
"Especially when I'm saving your friend here."
Naruto froze. Saving… his friend?
Then, he felt a searing pain that spread across his entire body from the back of his neck, and felt his consciousness fade.
Naruto opened his eyes slowly, taking in the dark cave he was laying in. The weight of his teammates was barely registered from his numb body. His numb body, that still hurt everywhere.
He shifted his weight, and rolled to the side groggily, making sure the two on his back didn't get hurt as they rolled off him onto the floor. He sat there, his back against the cold stone of the cave floor for a while. Trying to figure out what to do.
Where were they? How did they get in the middle of what seemed like a blizzard from the bridge? How long had he been unconscious?
Who was the guy that did this?
Naruto sat up, and looked at the two bodies lying beside him. He didn't know very much, but he did know one thing. He had to make sure that these two would be okay. Being stranded in an unknown place was bad, but being alone was worse.
He reached over and felt for a pulse from Sasuke. It took him a bit of fanalgaling, but he eventually found the right part of the neck to press, and felt the movement of blood circulating. Naruto felt relief rush over him, Sasuke was alive.
Naruto looked over Sasuke, and saw the wounds, the holes in him.
Naruto looked at them, and realized something that was very much so not good. In fact, it was the farthest thing from good that ever was.
He hadn't paid attention in class. The class about first aid. The class that he needed to know to help patch Sasuke up. Naruto, for the first time in his life, wished he'd been a better student.
He emptied his pockets, every pouch and holster he had, trying to figure out if he had some sort of magic cure-all medicine to use, or an instruction booklet for how to fix someone riddled with holes. When he found nothing he rummaged through his other teammates stuff, finding some bandages on Sasuke and some weird cream on Hinata.
Naruto eyed the cream, and wondered how much to use. After a few seconds, he concluded that lathering on as much as he could then putting on the bandages would be the best bet, so that's what he did. An empty container and half the bandages later, and Sasuke looked like a poorly made mummy.
Naruto stood tall, proud of his work. 'Now it's just a matter of time until Sasuke wakes up, right as… What was the saying? Oh well, that's not important.'
Naruto walked over to Hinata, and felt her forehead, his hand flying away when it made contact. People weren't supposed to be that warm. Naruto ran to the entrance of the cave, ignoring the piercing winds that whipped at his skin and grabbed as much snow as he could and ran back to Hinata, dropping it on her face, and watching in horror as it melted into water, then evaporated into steam in almost a minute.
"That's… really not good."
Naruto summoned two Shadow clones that started running back and forth grabbing snow and throwing it on Hinata as the real Naruto took off her jacket. After he got it off, Naruto worked on taking everything she didn't need, like shoes or her kunai pouch off then joined his two clones in couriering snow to her.
He wouldn't be sleeping for a while.
Super sorry for this chapter taking so long, school started up and my schedule went haywire. I should get updates out much faster now.
