The next few days were uneventful. Dean continued to play with the pups he even learned some stuff from the grownups. He heard something about Kate planning a feast at her den and the whole family was invited. It was in a few days, so Dean decided not to worry about it much. Dean had more important things to worry about. He needed to get a good nights rest. His dreams have become worse in the last few days than in the months he's had them. The wolves in the dream have become clearer but are still too blurry to recognize. The voice has become bolder he will poke and prod Dean now before he engulfs him in the mist. He has done everything he could to hide his sleep deprivation, but he is wearing down fast. Him continuing to play with the pups and explore with them was not helping.

It is now the morning before the feast and Dean is not doing well. He had another nightmare in the night and woke up groggily from his lack of slumber. He thought he was the only one who was awake. He did not notice Kate seeing him wake up every night to his nightmares. The sun rose, the day of the feast was today, everyone was up and ready except one very special pup. The blonde pup rose up from his sleep. He looked terrible. He was so tired and exhausted that he didn't even notice Runt walking up to him.

"You ready for another adventure Dean before the dinner?"

It took Dean a little bit to absorb everything he just heard but he finally tried to speak.

"Uh... yeah, I am ready to play and-" he fell asleep mid- sentence.

"Dean?, Dean?" Runt lightly tapped him and he jolted awake.

"I'm up, I'm up, I am ready to go adventuring and do all these things. Dean gave the biggest grin he could muster, but the pups could see he was acting weird. Kate then spoke up.

"Uh pups, Your father and I actually need Dean to help us here, so you guys will have to play without him for a little bit. After the dinner, he's all yours.

"Ok, see you later Dean. We will play later." Said Stinky.

Dean slowly nodded his head and grinned.

The pups nodded and ran down to the forest.

Dean yawned and looked to the adults.

"So, what did you guys need me to do?"

"What we need is for you to get some rest." Said Humphrey.

"I'm fine, I -" Kate stopped Dean in the middle of his sentence.

"Dean, I know you haven't been sleeping well for the past few days because of your nightmares. You are pushing yourself too much and you need to rest."

Dean knew he wasn't going to win this one, so he nodded his head and went to his spot and fell asleep instantly. He continued to sleep for most of the day. It was nice for him. He began to stir once he heard some voices. He opened his eyes and saw several pairs of eyes staring back. In front of him was Kate, Eve, Humphrey, and Lilly just looking at him. Winston, Garth, and Tony were discussing something, He let out a yawn.

"Good morning, or I should say afternoon," said Eve.

"Good afternoon everyone," he replied with a yawn.

"How did you sleep dear," asked Kate

Dean jumped up and stretched.

"I feel great. It has been a while since I slept like that."

"That's good, you woke up just before dinner the pups should be back soon."

As she finished saying that, Stinky and Claudette ran in. They looked scared. Everyone ran to them. It was Kate who spoke first.

"What's wrong and where's Runt?"

"We we're playing hide and seek, but when I had found Stinky, I couldn't find Runt," said Claudette.

"We both tried to find him, but all we found was a bit of his scent by a tree and another wolf. This wolf was not of our pack. "

As soon as he said that everyone sprinted to the border. They made it just in time to see two wolves taking Runt.

While everyone was talking amongst themselves about the situation, Dean was deep in thought.

"I should've gone with him. I could have helped him get away. I am not gonna stop until my friend is safe. I will use any way to help, and I'll-"

Dean was taken out of his thoughts by a low growl. Dean looked up and saw Tony said something and everyone looking at him.

"What," Dean asked

"You look deep in thought; I was wondering what about?"

"Oh it's nothing really," Dean said with a nervous laugh.

"It doesn't seem like nothing. It seems like you were contemplating something. I think you are hiding something. I think you had something to do with Runt's kidnapping."

"I had nothing to do with Runt's kidnapping. I was asleep at the den all day."

"But, you didn't just show up in Jasper today, did you? No, you have been here for much longer. I think you are related to King, probably his grand pup."

"I don't even know who King is. I just stayed in a den when I did show up here. Four weeks ago I came here. I came here from Colorado after my home wasn't safe."

"You see that's where your story doesn't add up. My great grandfather was the last wolf to leave Colorado and he told my father that he was the last wolf in Colorado. The rest were wiped out by humans. Do you care to explain that?"

Dean was getting scared. He began backing up, but stopped once he got up against a tree. He didn't know what to say. He looked into all of the wolves eyes. He saw sadness and anger, but mostly hurt. That hurt in their eyes stung the blonde pup.

"Dean, did you have something to do with Runt's kidnapping?" Kate asked in a very calm, but serious tone.

"I will give you three seconds to talk, before I really get mad, and I'll have to use a more... extreme way of interrogation," threatened Tony.

"3...2..." Tony began stalking closer to Dean. He bared his teeth and let out a growl. Dean's fear began rising with each step.

"1.."

"I DIDN'T COME HERE AS A WOLF!" Deans scream echoed through the forest. The silence was cut off by Tony laughing and beginning to speak.

"What do you mean? You can't change what you are. I see a blonde wolf pup trying to hide the truth and cover his tracks, badly I might add."

"Kate, about 4 weeks ago you and Garth chased a human boy. How did you lose him?"

"He took a right, we chased him and it lead us to Runt and...you... no." The realization hit her.

"I am going to shift." Dean's bones began to bend and reshape themselves. The whole pack stood there in complete shock. In front of them was once Dean, the wolf pup they have met, now stood a blonde human boy.

"Now do you believe me?" Dean looked at everyone. He saw the look of confusion and opened mouths. Stinky was the first to speak.

"You were the boy that saved us."

"Yes, I am the one that saved you from the poachers, but now I need to save Runt."
