"HOW DARE YOU!"

Those three words silenced everyone, stopped Waya dead in his tracks. Drake was as speechless as everyone else, but not for everyone else's reason. He was beyond shocked at who referred to him in this manner. He locked eyes with the speaker and he saw nothing but sheer rage and hatred. Those were the eyes of Kate.

"Dean has done nothing to us. If anything, he has helped more than hurt us. He saved Humphrey and my pups, he saved Runt twice. He has been nothing but sweet and polite while he has been staying with us. You have the audacity to call him those hateful things. You judged him before you even got to know him."

Humphrey decided to interject.

"Think of this Drake. If Dean is a killer and he has been staying with us all this time, wouldn't he had killed us before now, and why would he have saved the pups if he was a killer? Oh yeah, he saved the pups. What did you do to save our pups?"

Drake just stared at him angrily, but said nothing.

"That's what I thought."

Winston decided to speak.

"Well Drake, I also have a counter argument for your statement. You stated that Waya and Dean were lying about Tony's mate. I am here to say that they were telling the truth. The reason is that I spoke to my father with Waya's help."

The wolves gasped. Not many of them knew Winston's father personally, but they all had heard tales of the mighty Stinky. He was one of the strongest alphas in Jasper. He was known for his might, his great leadership skills, and his gentle heart. He had died, so how was Winston able to speak to him? This question was what all the wolves had in their heads.

"Waya can communicate with the dead. He talked to my father and allowed him to take over Waya's body for a short time."

Tony began to speak.

"Waya tried to do the same with Talia, but he could not find her which means she is still alive."

Drake was in utter shock. He was beyond livid, but he chose to hold his tongue. He was getting an extremely angry look from Eve.

Winston took this as a time to speak.

"Now, does anyone else object."

No one spoke.

"Very well, Waya, Dean, please come in."

Waya stormed in with his eyes glowing bright blue. They returned to their normal blue and Waya began to speak.

"The guardian decided to go for a walk after he heard some choice words about him. I have sent a message to him and he will be back shortly."

Kate and Humphrey were sad that Dean heard that about him.

"Before he gets here I have something to say. For the one called Drake. If you ever speak of the guardian like that again, I will rip your heart out and make you eat it."

He uttered these words in a low tone of voice. He then looked to the crowd of wolves and heard a gulp come from it. He looked to the entrance of the den when he heard advancing footsteps.

"What did I miss? I was walking and listening to music until a Waya clone told me to return."

Dean was right next to Waya after skidding to a halt right in the den.

"Well, we were just waiting for you to return, so we can pass you your judgment."

Dean remained silent.

"Dean, you and Waya are free to remain here as long as you need to."

"Thank you sir, Waya and I are in your debt."

"Consider it paid for saving my grand pups."

Dean nodded to him. Kate and Humphrey walked over to Dean and he looked at them.

"Dean, you and Waya are able to stay with us if you like," stated Kate.

"I appreciate it Mrs. Kate. I think Waya and I will take you up on that offer. He gave them a small smile.

They returned it.

"Then why don't we head there now. It's getting dark and we just returned from a very long journey and I for one am very tired," spoke Humphrey.

Dean nodded his head and all the wolves began to leave the den. Drake was one of the last wolves to leave. He was stopped by Eve.

"I just have one thing to say to you. If you try to do anything against Dean or Waya, not only will Waya know about it, but I will personally rip your tail off and shove it down your throat. Do I make myself clear."

Drake quickly nodded his head in fear.

"Good, now get out of my sight."

Drake was a little slow to move.

"NOW!"

He yelped and began sprinting to his den.

Back with Dean and everyone else, they had just made it to the den.

Everyone began heading inside all but one pup. Dean sat at the edge of the den's entrance.

"No matter where you are, with all my love, goodnight family."

Kate and Humphrey walked out as Dean was about to head inside.

"Hey buddy," said Humphrey

"Hey."

"Waya told us that you heard what Drake said," said Kate.

Dean remained silent.

"Are you ok, and I want the truth," asked Kate.

"Humans have a saying. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. I kept telling myself that. I keep telling myself that, but they still hurt. What he said hurt."

Humphrey began to speak.

"When I was a pup, I got called a lot of names. I hated those words. They hurt me to hear those words.

"What did you do to stop it."

"I made friends that cared about me. They told me that those words meant nothing, but I needed to tell myself that those words meant nothing. I knew the words said about me weren't true, so I learned to not care about who said those words. Soon, the words stopped hurting me. I didn't much care about what others thought about me or called me. I thought I was pretty great, and if you think you are pretty great than that's all that matters.

Dean listened to the story and it caused him to ask a question.

"Why do they say bad things to others?"

Kate and Humphrey looked at the boy and tried to think of an answer. Kate decided to speak.

"There are lots of reasons why someone talks bad about another. One creature may had been wronged by the other, or one may not understand the other. If you heard those words about you, than you heard about the packs uniting, right?"

"Well, it was supposed to be Garth and I to unite the packs

Dean's eyes grew wide. The realization struck.

"So...what happened, cause last time a checked, Lilly was married to Garth, and...unless...I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!" The last part he whisper shouted. Kate spoke up.

"Ok, ok, just calm down. Humphrey and I will explain as best we can. "

"Now, I was supposed to marry Garth to unite the packs."

"Right, I understand that now," said Dean nodding his head.

"That didn't happen, as you can tell by Runt, Stinky, and Claudette. I fell in love with Humphrey, and Lilly and Garth united the packs."

Dean nodded his head.

"Oooooohhhhh, ok I get it now, but I still have one question."

"Ok, what is it," asked Humphrey.

"What is the difference between an alpha and an omega?"

Kate and Humphrey were taken back.

"What," asked Kate.

"Yeah, Drake said the alpha and omega law was broken when the packs united, there must be a difference between the alpha and omega."

The realization hit Kate and Humphrey hard. In all this time that Dean has been with them, never have they explained to him alphas and omegas. They didn't think they needed to. Humphrey decided to speak.

"We are so sorry buddy. We never told you, I guess it never really came up. The difference is...Uh... well look at me. I am an omega.

"Omegas are the ones who lighten the mood amongst the wolves. We don't hunt, for we aren't that physically capable as the alphas. Which leads me to the alphas."

Humphrey then points to Kate.

"Kate, my beautiful mate, is extremely athletic and strong. She is one of the best hunters I know. She is also one of the best fighters. Now, do you understand Dean?"

Dean rubbed his chin.

"I think so. So an alpha is a stronger hunter and fighter while the omega is the one who keeps the peace, and lightens the mood."

"That's right," said Kate.

"Does that mean it was you two and Garth and Lilly that broke the law and had it taken away?"

"Yes"

"Wow, you guys are cool." This made the wolves laugh.

"Well, we are glad you think that, but some wolves did not. They hated the idea. Humphrey and I were called so many bad names after we were married."

"What did you do?"

"We just let them say the words. They meant nothing to us as long as we had each other, we were happy. Soon after that the wolves stopped, or they left."

"Wow, you guys are the coolest. You didn't care you did your own thing. That is amazing. Thank you for talking to me. I feel better."

"You're welcome Dean, and if there is anything you want to talk about, anything at all, you can come to us," spoke Humphrey.

"Thank you."

"Ok, now that that's taken care of, I think it's time for bed."

"I agree."

With that, the wolves and boy moved into the den. Dean shifted into a wolf pup and curled next to Waya. He drifted off to sleep happier than he was. He knew those words weren't' true, and if he knows that, than that's all that matters. He fell asleep with a smile on his face. Waya opened his eyes and smiled at the pup. Waya had heard to full conversation.

"I have made my decision," he said more to himself. He then closed his eyes and fell asleep.
