Alrighty, so here we have another one shot. I may take a small break from one shots for a bit, but I guarantee I'll continue something. And I really wanna expand more on existing characters.
So I hope this one is good to shed some light on thanks to another request. Enjoy! ;)
It was quite a peaceful day in Octo Canyon. Currently, the Squid Sisters were out again due to an urgent meeting with their performance manager. So, to take over, Redd and Mia opted in to watch for any upcoming threats.
But as it seems so far, there were no Octarian attacks, nor were there any clues to a plan. So, since they knew there was nothing to worry about, the twins took the time to relax around the cabin. It may be a long time until the Squid Sisters come back, so they're using this time wisely.
During the twins' relaxation time, Chany came over to visit them. The twins happily let her join in with open arms, mainly because of there being zero threats around the Octarian place at the moment.
As time began to pass by, the sky got a slightly darker blue. But it was still peaceful. Redd was on his phone, browsing text messages and group chats. Meanwhile, Mia and Chany were up in a conversation, rambling to each other.
On Mia's side in particular, she explained to Chany about the whole mission in the snowy landscape that one of the Octarian domes held. And how Mia was nearly killed, but was quickly healed thanks to her new soulmate, Lyndia.
Chany had a surprised look on her face when Mia finished the conversation, by telling her pink friend about the stab wound she received, and how it's all patched up to heal up sometime soon.
"Oh, thank goodness you were okay in the end!" Chany exclaimed, "I would've gotten really worried about you. I never knew you could hold on from an open stab wound like that!"
"Eh, don't be worry. Redd was the same way. The rest shared the same reactions," Mia remarked, "And yeah, do you really expect an Octoling like him to ever get an advantage over me without something beckoning to happen? No one's a match for Agent 3."
"Amen." Redd joined in with a thumbs up, as he overheard the conversation.
"At least I still have the Friendship Bracelet. So I knew the whole time you were still okay." Chany said, eyeing the bracelet near her ankle. Mia then looked down at her own, and turned back towards Chany with a smile.
"I'm glad to have you as a bestie, Chany." Mia complimented.
"You too!" Chany replied in a giddy, happy tone.
"So, anyways, to get this negative talk out of our heads, what's going on with you?" Mia asked.
"I'm feeling really good!" Chany cheers, "Me and Redd have been training, and I've just gotten to A rank in Rainmaker!"
"You did?!" Mia exclaimed, with a shocked expression.
"Yep! Our practice really payed off. Redd is a great coach, and a great team player!" Chany giggled.
"I'm proud of you, Chany. Heh, I couldn't even pass C rank back when I played Ranked in the Plaza," Mia said, with a nervous smile, "I wasn't really too good at it. I preferred Turf War any day. Ranked is too much for me."
"It's okay, Mia!" Chany responded, "Not everyone is cut out to be great at Ranked. And I also prefer Turf War! Heck, even Redd feels the same way on both of those parts! He's not even X rank, and he's still really good at the sports! No one has to be the best of the best to be a good teammate."
"I suppose you're right." Mia said with a nod. Chany nods along, smiling as she did so.
"Oh, and that reminds me," The pink Inkling remembered, "Redd saw so much in me, that he's willing to give me some more training so I can get up to S. Maybe even S plus, just like him!"
"Ooh! Well, I wish you luck on that, Chany." Mia replied. Chany grins happily, then walks over to Redd and sits down next to him.
"Hey, Redd!" Chany greeted. Redd puts his phone back in his pocket, then smiles as he looks over at his friend.
"Heya, Chany. I can give you some tips ahead of time, if you'd like." Redd offered.
"That would be nice." Chany thanked, listening intently. Redd started by mentioning that Rainmaker rotation will be starting about an hour from now, then he proceeded to go on with some tips he knew best, such as things like not shooting full shots with the Rainmaker sometimes when you're not in danger.
Mia smiled as she watches her brother conversate with their friend. She felt proud that Chany managed to get up to the A ranks, quite possibly the fourth best Ranks in the entire Inkopolis foundation. But she was still shocked that Chany was aiming to go beyond that, thanks to help from Redd, who even SHE didn't know would be so good at Rainmaker.
The third Agent stood up and shook her legs a bit, then decided to go for a walk. She stepped up to Tentakeel Outpost, surveying the area one last time just in case she would find anything that would be a threat to them.
She didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Just the kettles, and the calming breeze swooshing around the area. When suddenly...
"Hm?" Mia hummed as she looked over at something she felt was not normal. There, on one of the pathways near one of the kettles, she saw a group of three Sprinkers that were spraying Octarian ink.
"That hasn't been there last time I checked." Mia said to herself. She makes sure her ink tank is strapped on, then she whips out her Hero Shot. She walks to the Sprinklers, and they were still running.
The yellow Inkling aims her Hero Shot at the Sprinkers, shoots her own ink at it, and they get destroyed within a couple seconds. She shows a small smile as she cleans up the remaining purple ink with her own yellow ink.
"Heh, too eas- erk!" Mia started, only to suddenly have a dart hit her on the back of her face. Her eyes widen as she suddenly couldn't react. She drops her weapon, and her eyelids grew heavy. She tried to stop herself, but couldn't, and she closes her eyes as she falls to the floor face-first.
An evil giggle was heard as someone walks to the unconscious Inkling. The person turned out to be none other than the insane serial killer, Jenny. She grabs the dart and pulls it off of Mia's head, then carries the Inkling.
"Well, as much as Alfred would've LOVED to torture you, I guess I'll have to do it myself," Jenny spoke to herself, "Finally, after years of being haunted by this Inkling... I'll finally get the revenge I need to keep her from crossing my path."
Jenny looks over to where the cabin is located, and she could've sworn she saw Agent 4 as well, along with Chany. Jenny shrugs it off, knowing they would come to save Mia. But now, Jenny has another plan in mind now that she knew about this.
*later...*
"To tie along with that, I do have to also mention to watching your footing when going for reads if someone tries to drop down from above," Redd rambled, "Cuz when you unleash a full shot, you will be pushed back a bit. But trust me, the missile you let out when aiming at your own feet to get an enemy will be worth it."
"Ooh! That must really work well for you." Chany noticed.
"Yeah, I do it all the time. And most of that time, it works." Redd responded. He was about to continue speaking, when suddenly, he heard an incoming transmission. Knowing Chany might wanna hear this, too, he put his headphones off and set them in front of him and Chany.
"Mia? Mia, is that you? Did you find anything?" Redd called out to begin the call.
"Oh, hello, Agent 4," Jenny's voice was heard, "I noticed you were there along with that pink friend of yours. You know, back then when you saved Pearl. The one who finished me off with a Booyah Bomb."
"Jenny?!" Redd yelled, shocked that he was hearing her instead of Mia. Chany was also surprised, since she heard Jenny's voice loud and clear.
"What did you do with Mia?" The pink Inkling exclaimed.
"Oh, Agent 3? Yeah, I have her held hostage," Jenny replied, "I know you two are gonna work together to try and save her. But there's no way you can. Not when it's just you two trying to go after me."
Redd and Chany grew more angry as the insane Octoling continued to speak. But they were furious, Redd because Jenny abducted her sister, and Chany because this Octoling was bringing her returning vengeance by getting her at edge with Mia gone.
"We'll see about that, Jenny!" Redd growled.
"You think you can take ME on? HA! We know how well that worked last time," Jenny giggled, "Are you really gonna call anyone else for help when they may be potentially busy? Gimme a break. You and that pink Inkling don't stand a chance. Find me if you dare, I'll rip your guts right out of your body, along with Agent 3's once I'm done with you."
Jenny immediately ends the call. Redd was left fuming, that Chany could literally see steam come out of his ears. Not to say that Chany was furious too, because she was.
"That egotistical bloody maniac!" Redd shouted.
"We need to go after her and save Mia, and fast!" Chany suggested.
"Yes, we do. And that's where you and Chany come in," Redd stated, "You're the only one who can help me at the moment. The Squid Sisters have their meeting, Caleb's with Off the Hook for an important mission elsewhere, and the others... well, they may not be ready for her yet. But you... I know you have what it takes."
Chany replaced her angry expression with a surprised one.
"M-Me?" She uttered, "Can I really do it? To fight HER?"
Redd walks to his pink Inkling friend, and places his hands on her shoulders, smiling softly.
"Chany, Pearl told me how brave you were when Jenny was fighting us back then," Redd explained, "She told me you were daring to trick her, and succeeded by luring her into a Booyah Bomb. I know you can do it. With that kind of smarts, we can work together to save Mia. I did apply you as Agent 11 for a reason, after all."
Chany nodded in agreement, but then looks down.
"But what if she decides to kill me on the spot, and I'm not ready? I'll be a goner..." She whispered.
"No," Redd said as he holds up a pointer finger, "Because I'll be there to protect you from her dangerous ambitions. Since we're teaming up, Jenny is that one that isn't ready for us. And you know what else?"
"What?" Chany asked. Redd then walks to the back of the cabin, and begins moving some objects around. He came back a few seconds later, holding a package in his arms. He placed the package on the floor, and pushed it towards Chany.
"Because Mia agrees with you. She made you this with the help of Cap'n Cuttlefish so we can fight Octarians together," Redd replied, "So, go ahead and put on what's in the box. We'll get going once you're done."
"Got it." Chany said. She picks up the package, then walks to the back of the cabin, in the same spot that Redd was at.
A few minutes later, Chany came out, looking different than ever. She now donned on a Hero Vest similar to Mia's, but pink. She also had on rain boots that had a nice hero edition to it, and had a yellow soul logo on the side. The headset she had on fit perfectly with a hat on. And knowing how much Chany loves her Cap of Legend, this was necessary to put into consideration.
"You look really nice, Chany!" Redd complimented.
"Thanks. I look and feel like a completely different person with this on." Chany said, looking at every inch of her new Agent clothing.
"Indeed. Now, let's get going. Mia's waiting for us." Redd offered, whipping out his Hero Shot. Chany shows a determined smile and nods once, bringing out her Kensa Splattershot Pro.
"We're coming to save you, bestie!" Chany called out. She and Redd turn into their squid form, and super jump to the nearest base that Mia is being held hostage at.
*scene: Octarian Cell Room, special room*
"Ack! E-Easy, you're choking me." Mia uttered as she coughs a bit. Jenny straps down a gray collar around Mia's neck, and it felt pretty tight on the yellow Inkling. Jenny stares back at Mia with a bored look, taking her shades off and placing it on a nearby desk.
"That is my whole point. Like you can do anything about it." Jenny said. And it was true, as Mia was cuffed to the wall. Her arms and legs were split apart, but not too far away, as the collar was already enough for a little pain.
Mia tried to struggle, but it just wasn't enough. She knew it wasn't worth trying to get out of in this state, so she just stared back at the insane Octoling.
"I can barely even breathe. Did you have to tighten the collar so much?" Mia grumbled.
"Be thankful I'm not choking you to death with that thing, Agent 3." Jenny insanely giggles. Mia just sighed, shaking her head side to side in disapproval from her archenemy.
Grrrrrrr
Mia heard her stomach growl. She blushes in embarrassment as it was getting quite late, and she didn't have a snack yet.
"Ugh... great," The yellow Inkling thought, "Not only am I trapped in here thanks to this psychopath, but I also remembered I'm gonna go out for dinner with Redd tonight. Stupid sociopath just HAD to make matters worse, didn't she?"
"What's on your mind, Agent 3?" Jenny teased as she walks up creepily to Agent 3.
"Not like I'll ever tell you, you undeserved traitor to your own kind." Mia snapped. But that was a big mistake.
"EEYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Mia screamed at the top of her lungs as the collar delivered an unimaginable amount of energy to shock her. The electric lasted about a few seconds, but Mia's skin darkened a bit as steam escaped her from the top. She grew more scared as she was letting out shaky breaths.
Jenny smirked at her and showed her a remote control with a big red button and a blue lever pulled all the way to the right.
"I wouldn't suggest mess with me, if I were you," Jenny warned, "This electric collar is here to prevent you being a smarty pants. One sarcastic remark, and I'll shock you. And it's adjusted to the highest setting possible, so there's no guarantee you won't be hurt from this."
"Gee... y-you..." Mia panted as she was still recovering from that last shock.
"Just you wait until I bring Agent 4 and that pink Inkling over here," Jenny continued, "I'll make sure you never see them again, maybe even hurt them in front of your own eyes. It's the perfect revenge!"
"No, don't!" Mia shouted, "Please, I beg of you, just don't. Chany isn't even experienced with the whole scenery of Octo Canyon yet, there's no way she's gonna be able to deal with you yet!"
"Oh, don't play dumb with me, Agent 3," Jenny scoffed, "I know what you're thinking. And I know how strong she is. I saw her in that demon form a few days ago. And I was impressed you managed to free her."
Mia got even more scared when Jenny mentioned that. How was she supposed to know that Jenny was watching the fight against Shadow Chany? It's madness! It was a surprise to know Jenny was stalking the whole fight, and didn't bother to do anything about it except just watch.
"Y-You... you saw all that?" The yellow Agent questioned.
"Ah, of course," Jenny replied, "I know she'll be able to try and stop me the moment she lays her eyes on me once again. I'll make sure to re-awaken any lingering demon powers if absolutely necessary."
Mia was angered by Jenny's ambitions, already knowing what'll happen.
"Jenny, for the love of everything holy, I wouldn't do that," She warned, "Shadow Chany is already dead, so there's no way she's gonna come back and haunt my best friend. Chany's free from her demon's control. And even if the demon WAS still alive, she's never going to listen to you. She'd accomplish her own plans, not stay under control by some sick in the head psycho- YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Mia was interrupted mid-sentence by another painful shock. Jenny held the button down a little longer than last time, but it didn't matter much.
"You have some nerve, Inkling." Jenny growled. Mia didn't respond, as she was in pain from that blow. Her arms and knees shook as bruises scattered her cheeks. She lets out more shaky breaths as some tears fall down her eyes and onto her vest.
"H-Help..." She whispered.
"I might as well end this party right now." Jenny scoffs again, bringing out her knife. Footsteps were heard as soon as Mia's blood-curdling scream took place, and two people ran in effective immediately.
Redd was the first, while Chany came shortly after, both furious by what they've seen.
"Hey! Jenny! Leave my sister alone!" Redd demanded from across the entrance. Mia opened her eyes and they were filled with relief when she saw her brother. A splatting sound was heard as Chany quickly left the scene. An Octocommander was giving chase to them, but Chany quickly splatted him with her long-ranged weapon, then came back once he was splatted.
"You caused enough trouble!" The pink Inkling chimed in. Jenny smirks as she walks over to them.
"Well, well, if it isn't Agent 4, and... the demon." She spat. Chany growls as she shook, aiming her weapon at Jenny.
"What did you just call me?" The veteran Inkling glared daggers at the Octoling.
"I was there when you were controlled by a demon. I know the hidden strength you have, you pathetic pink squid." Jenny continued her taunting. Chany's anger just continued to grow. Same with Redd's, as he didn't like how Jenny was messing with the two right now.
"Enough chatting! Jenny, I'll tell you this right now," Redd sighed, "Free my sister right now and surrender. Or else, Chany and I are gonna be forced to splat you on the spot."
"Ha, as if I'd ever do that!" Jenny laughed, "If you really think you have what it takes, then come at me! Show me the best you got!"
She puts her knife down and draws out her Octo Sword. Redd grabs his Hero Shot and also aims at Jenny. He looks over at Chany, and the pink Inkling noticed Redd look at her. She looks back at her friend, and the two nod once at the same exact time.
They both shoot at the same time, and Jenny simply slashes it away. She then attempted to retaliate by running towards them and stab them right where they stood. But they knew how often Jenny would do this, so they swiftly dodge out of the way.
The battle continues, and Mia could barely respond, as she didn't want to make matters worse. Back at the entrance hallway, Alfred was walking by, and he heard all the commotion going on.
"Hm?" His ear twitches as he peeks what's going on. He smirks as he saw Jenny battling Redd and Chany. While he had his experience with Agent 4, he seemed to take a keen interest in the pink Inkling as well.
"Well, what have we here?" He told himself, "So it seems Agent 4 has a new friend with him. I need to call backup for the Elite Captain, just in case it gets too dangerous on her end."
He then proceeds to grab his communication device, and give word to his fellow teammates in the OctoTeeth Army. Back in the battle, despite it being two against one, Jenny was still managing to find a way to overpower against the Agents.
Chany was more or less staying far away, so that way she can get an advantage since she's using a longer-ranged weapon. Redd was the one who was in more danger with close combat, since Jenny is experienced with that.
As soon as Jenny tried to slash her sword down on Redd, he quickly turned into his squid form and dove into his red ink. He still made sure to keep as much of it around. And for the most part, Jenny was slowing down and has less room to maneuver.
Chany threw a Splat Bomb over at Jenny's direction, but she deflected it as soon as it got close, hurling it away like a baseball. The insane Octoling's hair began to glow as Redd and Chany stuck together.
"Some dedication, I'll give you that," Jenny said sarcastically, "I knew from the moment that demon so-called 'defeated' me that she had fighting potential, even against a monster like me."
"Quit calling me a demon!" Chany shouted.
"Why not? It's true, isn't it?" Jenny giggled.
"Leave her alone! Now, step down!" Redd demanded.
"Far from it, Agent 4." Jenny replied in a snarky tone. She then whipped out her special edition Tenta Missiles. The two Inklings' eyes widened, and their fear grew upon noticing the dangerous special weapon.
"Oh no, not again..." Redd uttered.
"Run!" Chany screamed. Jenny locked onto the two, and unleashed a barrage of black missiles at them. The missiles came faster and hailed down on them. The Inklings screamed as they ran away to safe spots as best they can. But due to how many missiles there are in Jenny's version, there was almost no escape.
The missiles finished the job and black ink covered the whole area. Redd and Chany were separated and stuck in the large black ink puddles. Their weapons were also far away. Chany groans as she tried to reach hers, despite it still being far away.
But it proved to be futile, and even more when Jenny kicked it further away. Chany yelps as she saw the action performed, then shakes as Jenny slowly approaches her. Jenny evilly smirks as she gently grabs Chany by her cheeks.
"Hee hee, you are one determined demon girl, aren't you?" The insane Octoling taunted, "Y'know, since Agent 3 seems to have a well connection with you, this oughta be fun. So maybe I'll end you first, and then end her shortly after."
"N-No, please don't!" Chany begged.
"Not sorry at all, but your life here, whether infected by demons or not... I'll crumble it within my grasp." Jenny snapped. She raised her sword as Chany gulped, paralyzed to the state she can barely even move.
"Bombs away!" Redd called out. Chany looked over and saw that Redd slowly stood up, and activated his special just in time. It was revealed to be a Suction Bomb launcher, the same special weapon he has on his Neo Splash-o-matic.
As soon as the red Suction Bombs were lobbed, Jenny winced as some leftover red ink splashed near her, then she proceeded to run away. Chany looks over at the running Octoling, and smirks.
Sneakily, the pink Inkling pulls out a Splat Bomb, then she used all her strength to throw it near Jenny, but also in another direction she would need to turn at.
The Suction Bombs ended, but as soon as Jenny stopped in place, she realized the pink Splat Bomb right in front of her. As much as she tried to run, it was too late. The Splat Bomb exploded as soon as Jenny tried to turn again.
"Phew... that was close. My heart's still pounding after that." Chany whispered to herself. She slowly stepped away from the black ink once she mustered up the energy needed to stand up.
At the entrance, Alfred was shocked. He got into a thinking position, but it was interrupted when he saw two OctoTeeth Octolings run up to him, ready to fight.
"There's trouble brewing?" One of them asked.
"Not anymore," Alfred said, "If we fight now, we will get ambushed. We must hold off for another time. Until then, we must meet up with the Elite Captain and check up on her."
Alfred immediately ran away to meet up with Jenny, while the other two Octolings just followed him, not sure what to do up to this point.
Back in the room, Redd joined up with his pink friend, then reached over at the device near the desk. He looked closer and saw a button pad on the edge of the desk. He pressed the middle button, and the chains that were holding Mia there broke off.
Mia lets out a pained noise as she falls to the ground. As she was panting, Redd grabs the device and turns it around, revealing that there was another switch on the back. He turned it the opposite way. The electric collar broke off as a result of that.
Mia clasps her throat as she gasped for air, closing her eyes in relief.
"Ah, finally... I can... breathe again..." She uttered. Redd and Chany approach the Inkling, and Redd kneels down to her in her sitting position.
Mia quickly wrapped her arms around her brother, keeping close to him. She whispered "thank you" so much, and snuggled her head against his shoulder. Redd hugs back and keeps his sister close, comforting her the best he can.
"It's okay, you're okay now. I got you," Redd cooed, "You feeling okay? Just wanna be sure, sis."
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine. Torture from that brute was not pretty..." Mia responded. The two siblings pulled away, and then Chany proceeded to give Mia a hug. The latter was surprised, but she hugs back.
"Oh, thank goodness you're okay, Mia! We were so worried about you!" Chany cried, "You're not hurt, are you? Please don't tell me you're hurt...!"
"Some bruises and a little bit of the jitters, but I'll be fine. The after effects of this is nothing compared to that stab wound." Mia stated. She then eyes Chany up and down, and smirks when she saw she was wearing the outfit.
"Redd gave you the outfit I made for you, huh?" She chuckled. Chany smiled and pulled away, while also helping Mia stand up.
"Yeah! It looks good on me. It really makes me feel like an actual Agent." The pink Inkling replied.
"It's because you ARE an Agent, Chany. There's no changing that." Redd reminded. Chany smiles cutely and places her hands behind her back.
"And while we're on that subject, we should get out of here," The fourth Agent suggested, "Jenny may come back soon, and we need to leave before she realizes we're still in this domain."
"Mmm, I am getting hungry. Can we have cookies?" Mia asked.
"Miaaaaaa... we haven't even had dinner yet," Redd scolded, "No sweets until we have dinner. Got it?"
Mia huffed as she looks away and puffs her cheeks, crossing her arms as she did so. Chany couldn't help but laugh at that, and Redd stifled a giggle since he couldn't hold back at that at all.
"Yes, let's bail." Chany agreed. The three Agent stick together as they effectively leave the Octarian hideout. It may have seemed dangerous in the beginning, but it's what you achieve in the end that truly matters.
It was a fight for Agent 3, after all, and Redd and Chany had to make sure they didn't back down against one of the army's most dangerous troopers. And with Chany now starting fresh as an Agent with her own outfit, the NSS only continues to grow and shape a better future.
And this is one step closer.
A/N: Alrighty, and that's it. I liked making this, but it's finally time I get to move onto more stuff that I had in mind.
Also, Ika Tako Gamer, I just wanna say this in the nicest way possible. I do appreciate you giving me requests and all that. I really do. But do please try to ease up on all those requests. Especially if they involve Chany as the main star of the show. I do understand you wanna give her character more lore, and I do, too, but I do want to give more to other characters as well, and also express my own ideas.
No hard feelings, but I did want to tell you this, is all. You can still send requests once in a while, and I will consider them if I wanna make them or not, but I wanna make room for my own ideas, too.
