Deep breath in.

Deep breath out.

Valley counted the seconds slowly, and repeated the process. His hands moved idly, patting down the dirt around his newly planted flower, while his tail twitched to and fro, moving like a metronome to an unheard cadence.

It was another beautiful day in the city of Musutafu, a decently sized location within one of Japan's many provinces. It was a bustling community, filled to the brim with people from all walks of life. It's a place that Valley has grown accustomed to, a place that he could call home.

Valley himself wasn't very much to look at. He was a slender, 6'2, borderline thin white male who had a gaunt face, brown eyes, and brown hair that was parted in the middle, swept outward as if he had ran a comb through it. His current outfit was simply a blue shirt and black shorts, accompanied with some tennis shoes that were given to him a few weeks ago as a gift. Lastly, a brown, monkey-like tail extended from above his rear. While it was cute, in a sense, it was also a bit annoying, since he had to cut holes in his clothing for it to fit through.

He didn't remember much about his past, or at least, up to a certain point. He remembered his best friend, Poiro, a boisterous male with long white hair and a grin as glistening as the surface of water underneath the sunlight, and their first meeting. He remembered the Tekkai's adopting him almost immediately after he had grown accustomed to their home. He remembered the first time he conjured a ball of glowing blue light, a spectacle he dubbed as 'ki', which other kids called his quirk, though he knew that wasn't the case. Call him superstitious, but everything in his mind told him no, this is more than a quirk, yet it refused specify.

If there was one thing that made Valley different from other kids his age, it was his ideals. While he did want to be a hero, he also leaned more towards pacifism, a trait that was rather mundane in a society full of 'heroes' and 'villains'. Valley found that constantly subduing those who needed support or fell into the wrong walk of life was a superfluous endeavor, one that he did not want to partake in. He wanted to change the world with words, with kindness, with influence, not violence. That was the person he strived to be.

Deep breath in.

Deep breath out.

Valley moved to the next flower, removing it from it's pot and gently placing it inside its designated hole.

Deep breath in, deep breath out. Pat the soil down. Sprinkle it with water.

"VALLEY!"
His entire harmony was thrown off kilter by the sudden call, and the male quickly turned around, breath leaving him in a surprised exhale. However, he relaxed when he saw who it was; in fact, the other's presence brought a smile to his face.

Poiro Tekkai, who always insisted to just be called Poiro, was a very boisterous, outgoing male. He had an angular face with piercing emerald green eyes, large, fluffy white hair that ran down to his waist, and a thin frame. His quirk, Plasma Generation, allowed him to 'charge' up plasma within his body and release it in forceful waves. The more he charges, the more powerful his attacks are, but once he runs out, he has to spend time recharging. It was a very straightforward quirk, and one that Valley found to be very powerful.

When the other skidded to a halt, leaving minute grooves in the dirt. He then stood straight, placed his hands on his hips, and waved. "Hey! Planting flowers again?"

"Indeed, my friend," Valley spoke softly, pushing himself up to his feet. His tail hung limply behind him, draping against his legs, "I want this abandoned park to blossom with foliage. Seeing it become more plentiful brings great joy to me. It's a nice passtime, too."

"Well, as much as I am happy that you're having fun, we do need to get back to our training." Poiro sighed, shaking his head. "I mean, even though the martial arts joint we went to is closed now, that doesn't mean we can't take what we learnt and fleshed it out a bit more! Besides, your quirk is super strong. Don't you think we can unlock more possibilities?"

Valley frowned, but didn't disagree. For years, the two of them had attended a business that taught martial arts, but before summer started, it had closed down due to the owner passing away, and they were unable to secure another investor. The other places were much more expensive, so they now sparred against each other regularly to keep their instincts and skills fresh. Of course, they only did so in private areas, since they sometimes practiced their quirks too. They did not want to get caught doing anything illegal.

"You're right. We can spar tonight." Valley nodded, relenting in his approach. "I do need to practice a bit more anyways. I feel as if my ki readings have decreased just a bit, due to rust."

"Atta boy!"

Poiro slapped Valley on the back with a cheerful smile, causing the other boy to falter. "How about we find a good spot at that trash beach?"

"Dagobah?" Valley questioned, tilting his head inquisitively. "You want to train there? Is it because no one ever goes there?"

"Mmhmm! I mean, it can't be that bad, right? We can find an open spot to work at." Poiro said happily, already pulling out his phone and scrolling through his contacts. "Let's head home and get our stuff, then get going. You ready?"

Valley looked back to his flowers, and noted that all of them had been planted. So, seeing as he had nothing else to do, he turned back to Poiro and nodded, smiling. "Of course, my friend. Whenever you are."
