Sophia's POV
We had begun to walk down a stone staircase into an elevator and the four of them relaxed throwing back their cloaks, letting the hoods fall back on their shoulders as the doors closed and Jane pressed a button sending us down and it was a bit awkward with all of us cramming into it and I found myself practically hiding behind Demetri holding onto his arm as we rode the elevator down there was awful opera music playing and not to mention that it was starting to get cold being this far underground and with Demetri's arm around my waist but I didn't voice anything staying quiet like Demetri told me too, I don't know why I was doing what he said but something told me that he wouldn't tell me to do it if it wasn't important.
The elevator ride was short thank god, we stepped out into what looked like a posh office reception area, the walls were paneled in wood, the floors carpeted in thick deep green and there were no windows but large, brightly lit paintings hanging everywhere as replacements, there was pale leather couches which were arranged in cozy groupings and the glossy tables held crystal vases full of vibrantly colored bouquets, the flowers' smell reminded me of a funeral home.
But what drew my attention was in the middle of the room, there was a high, polished mahogany counter and I gawked in astonishment at the woman behind it, she was tall, with dark skin and green eyes, she looked at me and greeted something in Italian that I didn't understand but Demetri and the others continued walking not even paying the woman any attention and with Demetri's arm around my waist I couldn't stop to say anything back either they just continued toward a set of double doors in the back of the room and Jane pushed them open and my eyes widened as we went through, my eyes gazing around the room.
It was the same ancient stone everywhere else I'd seen but it was dark and cold again, the stone antechamber was not large and it opened quickly into a brighter, cavernous room, perfectly round like a huge castle turret...which was probably exactly what it was.
Two stories up, long window slits threw thin rectangles of bright sunlight onto the stone floor below, there were no artificial lights and the only furniture in the room were several massive wooden chairs, like thrones that were spaced unevenly flush with the curving stone walls.
But what really drew my eyes was the fact that the room was not empty, three men were convened in seemingly relaxed conversation, the murmur of low, smooth voices was a gentle hum in the air but all conversation ceased the moment they noticed our arrival.
"Ah you've returned!" the one in the middle cried in evident delight, his voice was just a soft sighing, he drifted forward and the movement flowed with such surreal grace that I gawked, my mouth hanging open. "And you've brought a guest" his eyes fell onto me and I took note of the milky red eyes much like Demetri and the others. "Who might you be my dear?" he asked leveling his gaze with me but my lips remained tight before I gazed up at Demetri for his guidance and he nodded so I turned back to this person.
"Sophia" I replied before looking at Demetri with confusion, wondering why they'd brought me here and who this man was, he clearly wasn't human either so was this their leader like that blonde man had been the other groups leader.
"Aro" one of the other men sitting in the left throne called to this man in front of me and this Aro turned to him seeing him holding out a hand and Aro wasted no time returning to the platform and took his hand seemingly listening/watching intently which lead me to believe that he might be a mind reader himself but he was different to Edward, he looked like he needed to touch someone to read their thoughts.
"Mm I see" Aro replied before turning to look at me and Demetri. "Il cantante di Demetri" I frowned really wishing I knew Italian since I heard Demetri's breath hitch at those words and Felix chuckled to himself. "May I, my dear?" Aro suddenly asked in front of me holding out his hand clearly signalling me to take his hand, I pulled my hand up but hesitated a second looking at Demetri but he gave me no indication on what to do, he was just staring ahead of us so I made my own decision and placed my hand in this Aro's and watched as his eyes glazed over as he no doubt read my mind. "Your thoughts are such a treasure, so much pain in your life, no love" he spoke and my eyes widened. "You suspect we are not human"
"How did you-?" he laughed, his voice even more melodic than Demetri's.
"I can hear and see every thought you've ever had my dear with a single touch" I took this in and he chuckled nodding his head. "Yes you are quite observant, quite special too" he smiled before turning to Demetri. "You have a very interesting partner Demetri" I frowned at the word 'partner' since I wasn't Demetri's partner, Aro let go of my hand then took Demetri's and I could only watch with fascination watching both their faces for any indication on what Aro was seeing in Demetri's head. "Yes that is worrisome but you've done quite well" he let go then moved towards the middle throne drawing my eyes to the other two.
The one that had spoken earlier had long dark brown hair and seemed rather bored in my opinion and the one to the right had blonde hair styled at shoulder length and his gaze seemed cruel and annoyed as if my presence was nothing but an annoyance to his day which I found odd wondering why.
"Everyone but Demetri and Sophia leave us" Aro commanded and everyone left which confirmed my thoughts that he was the one in charge since everyone but Demetri and the other two sitting on the thrones left the room making a slight panic in my body and Demetri moved away from me which further caused me to panic
"What are your intensions with this human, brother?" the blonde one asked looking at Aro and I frowned since they didn't look like brothers, aside from the pale skin and milky red eyes they couldn't look more different.
"I believe that is Demetri's decision, she is after all his mate" I frowned looking back and forth between these old ones which I recall the brown haired boy from earlier calling them ancients...ancient what I had no idea but they were subtly different from everyone I'd met so far, the milky eyes were one thing but their pale skin seemed to look like old parchment paper that seemed brittle if touched and would fall in on itself. "But I think it best to give her the answers she so desperately seeks and deserves" Demetri turned to me once again. "I'll leave it to you to explain everything and then make your decision" Demetri nodded with an uncharacteristic sigh before he reached for me and started dragging me out of the room and I went with little protest.
He begun leading me down various halls all matching the dark mysterious castle vibe that I'd come to expect from this place before he stopped at a large wooden door and pulled me inside letting go of me to close the door behind us, my eyes wandered around the room seeing a two large bay windows in the room being completely blacked by black curtains and in-between the windows was a large fireplace with black leather couches and a dark shiny polished coffee table in front of them then across the room from that was a large king sized bed with dark grey sheets and a thick black duvet and I noticed a large walk-in closet through a set of French doors and beyond that looked like a bathroom, the room was huge, lavish and completely Demetri despite not even knowing him which told me that this was his room.
"Is this where you kill me?" I asked and his response was to turn towards me, amusement in his red eyes.
"Sweetheart if I was going to kill you it would have been a long time ago" he replied making me frown.
"So what is it that you're supposed to tell me?" I asked moving about the room taking in even more of the décor noting a large bookshelf with over a hundred books looking like all different genres from all different eras...he was quite a collector.
"I'd first like to hear your theories from everything you've observed" he audibly argued causing my frown to deepen as I turned around to face him after running my fingers over a few of the books spines, I noticed he'd removed the grey cloak and was now in just a black button up and slacks with pointed shoes.
"I haven't really given anything much thought, just been storing facts for the likely case I began to question what you are as it's clearly not human"
"Take a guess then" he smirked moving towards one of the couches and sat down.
"I'd rather not" I argued moving over as well and sat on the opposite one to him.
"Alright, tell me your facts then"
"Why can't you just tell me?" I asked feeling exceptionally brave now that it was just me and him.
"Because there's little to no fun in just telling you, I'd rather see what you've taken notice off before I go revealing anything" he smirked as if he knew how much I was growing frustrated.
"Fine" I spat and he chuckled. "Your eyes change color, your skin is pale and ice cold to the touch, you have unnatural speed and strength" he smirked nodding his head.
"Which leads you to the conclusion that I'm what?" he asked but I frowned since I hadn't thought of anything of consequence yet.
"I have no idea" I replied, a deep frown settling on my face as I looked down at my hands in my lap feeling his eyes on me patiently awaiting an answer from me despite me not having one to give.
"I'll give you a hint if you'd like" I didn't say anything. "We're creatures of myth, stories say we burn in the sun which isn't true, we have no reflections which isn't true...the only thing the stories seem to get right is our diet" my head had snapped up the moment he said 'burn in the sun'
"V...v...vampire" I stuttered out, eyes widened in fear watching him smile, pulling his lips back into a smile showing off his teeth which didn't look any different but the sight was enough for some preservation instinct to kick in as I sank back further into the couch. "So those people in the clearing they're v...vampires as well?" he nodded his head.
"They're what we call vegetarians, they feed on the blood of animals...pathetic" he scoffed making me frown.
"And you...you drink-"
"Yes" he cut me off eyes meeting mine.
"Are you...am I..."
"No, like I said if I was going to kill you I would have done back in that alley"
"But you...you were going to?"
"Yes I was but it's complicated" he replied making me frown since he clearly wasn't explaining whatever he was trying to tell me all that well, what did ' Il cantante di' mean.
"Well aren't you supposed to be explaining things to me" I argued staring at him.
Demetri's POV
I furrowed my brows as I watched her staring at me clearly waiting for more answers but I was puzzled since I'd already told her I was a vampire and that she'd been kidnapped by a coven of them but she hasn't so much as screamed and shown very minimal fear, nothing about this girl was natural and she vexed me beyond no measure.
"Demetri" she called and I realised I'd been zoned out but then my lips quirked into a small smile since that's the first time I'd heard her say my name and I had to admit I liked the way she said it. "I need answers" my smile grew as I leant forward placing my elbows on my knees and clasped my hands together under my chin. "What did that man mean by 'mate'"
"Like I said it's complicated" I stated and she frowned pinching her eyebrows tight and I'd noticed she did that a lot when she grew frustrated. "First I need to know, I've told you were vampires, how are you not screaming the castle walls down?" her frown grew as she turned her head avoiding my eyes.
"I honestly don't know but that doesn't mean I'm not terrified" she admitted and I nodded since she should be afraid, it was a basic human instinct to be afraid of us. "I'll admit though that I'm more confused on why you'd even take me in the first place or why I'm even here and you're telling me all this, if you wanted to kill me in that alley then why am I still alive?" she asked and it was my turn to frown.
"You honestly shouldn't be" I admitted and I saw her eyes widen at the truth. "I had every intention to kill you three days ago in that alley, I was on the hunt and found you but then I'd pushed you down and you cut your head, the smell of your blood became even more potent, your blood appeals to me more than anyone's ever has"
"Why?" she asked.
"In Italian we call it 'una cantante' which translates into 'a singer', every vampire has one and it's always a human whose blood smells so appetizing to us that we can't resist"
"So how can you?" she pressed and I frowned shaking my head.
"It happens so rare but there are cases where our singers can also be our mates which a vampire only has one so you can understand how difficult this is for me"
"So wait" she stopped me. "You're saying that I'm what...destined to be with you but my blood is practically like crack to you and you may or may not lose control and kill me" I chuckled at the way she explained it but nodded my head.
"That's the general idea of what I'm saying, I have no idea what stopped me in the alley but I couldn't bring myself to kill you which confirmed that your my mate as well as my singer" I nodded again and she surprised me by laughing.
"You got the raw end of the deal" she said and I laughed back nodding my head. "Does this mean that were automatically supposed to date?"
"No" I spat with a small growl and her face fell in what I could almost say was disappointment, she couldn't...there was no way that she could actually be starting to fall for me...I was a monster.
"So what's going to happen to me now then?" she asked looking down at her lap making me frown knowing that I'd probably said the wrong thing but I was still confused on what I was supposed to say, I had no plan going forward on what I wanted.
"I don't actually know" I replied and her face fell even more and I understood that was no way to live but now that she knew about us the ancients weren't going to let her go, I'd sentenced her to death the moment she'd caught my eyes. "But there's more I have to tell you" I told her since she had to know everything if she was going to stay here and become one of us.
Sophia's POV
When Demetri said there was more to tell me I wouldn't have guessed any of the stuff he'd revealed, first off was that his coven was known as the Volturi which I had already guessed myself but he told me they are the equivalent of royalty in the vampire world across the entire world and that there were covens in just about every part of the world either with their own covens or lived nomadically and they weren't just the leaders but they governed the population with an iron fist and had rules in place to keep themselves from being discovered.
If anyone broke the rules they stood a trial and when I asked how many times the vampire was let off he informed me that there hadn't been a case yet which scared me immensely since I was even more curious on what he planned on doing with me, I was very much doubting that I'd be able to leave now that I knew but what did that then mean, I was going to live in this place surrounded by vampires...was I going to be turned into one.
After he'd finished telling me everything we sat in silence as I furiously fought to wrap my head around every bit of information I had received, I was no doubt terrified since they were vampires...vampires actually existed and I was now a prisoner of vampire royalty and I had no idea how I was supposed to live here or what my purpose was...would I become one of their victims, all it'd take was a paper cut or an accident and I could be drained since only Demetri seemed to not want to drink me dry.
"I understand it's a lot"
"So what now?" I asked him.
"Now I should go speak to the ancients and fill them in that I've told you" he sighed standing up and it's the most I'd seen him move in the past 30 minutes, was it a vampire thing to sit and stand like statues.
"Who's that?" I quizzed.
"Our coven leaders, Aro, Marcus and Caius" he explained and I remembered Aro from earlier meaning Marcus and Caius must be the other two. "I should explain to you that they're never to be disturbed unless they've summoned you especially Caius" he added and I nodded making sure I remembered since I did not want to become dinner. "Stay here, don't leave this room understand" I nodded my head again then watched him leave closing the door behind him and surprisingly I didn't hear any lock which meant I could leave but did I really want to do that.
Even if I managed to find my way out of the room and through the maze of stone where would I go and how far would I get before they hunted me down, I'd expect vampires had advanced senses, they'd be able to sniff me out but did I really want to live here for the rest of my life...how little life I clearly had left.
Before I'd even thought more about my actions I'd moved towards the door and opened it enough that I could look out whipping my head quickly to look down either side but couldn't see anyone...I let go of the breath I was holding as I opened the door and walked out into the hall slowly creeping as quietly as I could manage trying to remember the way Demetri had brought me here as well as looking around for other escapes as I had to get past that receptionist and although I knew she was human like me I couldn't trust her not to raise an alarm.
I'd made it down three different hallways before I heard voiced and immediately ducked into the shadows pressing my back against the wall holding my breath, my mind was racing as I did everything to hide myself but I had a feeling it was going to be pointless since they were vampires for god sake but two people in light grey cloaks walked right past me without even a glance in my direction making my eyes widen in shock before I checked to make sure they were gone and continued on, were those vampires stupid...was I just lucky...I had no clue how they didn't sense me...maybe I was wrong about their powers and maybe I could sneak out of here and leave but that meant leaving Demetri...that's an odd thought since why wouldn't I want to leave him, he kidnapped me and basically robbed my life from me by revealing what he was...I had to leave and now was my chance I wasn't going to waste it.
Demetri's POV
I'd just told Aro, Marcus and Caius that I'd told her everything she deserved to know leaving out some things like our special abilities for good reason since she was already scared of us and if she was stuck here then I had to help her come to terms with us and our lifestyle since it was inevitable that she was either going to die or become one of us and I recalled that mind reader Edward's words 'That's not the way to go about it', although I didn't like taking his advice he had experience since his human pet was his singer just like Sophia was mine and if I was destined to spend the rest of my eternal life with her I owed it to both of us to make an effort.
While talking with the ancients Aro had also revealed of what Marcus had revealed to him when I first introduced them to Sophia, he had saw the mate bond between us but it was obviously dulled and only beginning to form just like all beginning relationships, I still didn't know if I wanted a committed relationship with her since I've never committed to one woman, I still have Heidi to worry about since she was not the type to be upstaged and especially by a human but Sophia was my mate and she was an exquisite beauty which lead me to believe and imagine that she'd be mind-blowing gorgeous as an immortal.
I made it back to my room but paused taking a deep breath since I'd have to watch my breathing inside as her scent and blood still clung to my memory and filled my mouth with venom before I opened the door going inside but stopped looking around since I couldn't see or hear her anywhere in the room and growled since she had lied to me and hadn't listened...did she not grasp the concept that there were vampires all over this place and as appealing as her blood is to me being my singer that makes her a bigger target to other vampires as well.
I reached out my ability in order to track searching for the tenor of her mind slowly frowning when I came up with nothing...that's not possible...no one has ever...did she have an ability like the Cullen's human...I pushed back those thoughts for now and started up and down hallways searching...growing more desperately as the time ticked on...could she have made it out of the castle...there was a ton of different exits through the underground tunnels but there was no way she could have gotten out that fast I was only gone twenty minutes.
"Demetri" I turned around finding Felix behind me. "What's up?"
"She's gone" I replied continuing on my search with him falling into step beside me.
"Your human, how the hell did you let that happen?"
"I left her to speak with the ancients after I told her what we are, I was gone twenty minutes" I growled out annoyed at the incompetence of keeping one human and for the fact that she was immune to my gift.
"So track her"
"I'm trying" I spat angrily.
"What do you mean you're trying?" he asked eyes widening understanding my meaning.
"It's like she doesn't exist, I can't locate her"
"Or she's dead" he pointed out and my steps faltered as I hadn't thought of that.
"No she...she can't be" I argued suddenly feeling something I hadn't in over 500 years...worry...but why she didn't mean anything to me...did she? "No if anyone laid a hand on her I'll kill them, if anyone drained her before me they're dead" no one was going to rob me of my singers blood before I'd even had a taste.
"I'm sure she's fine and there's a more logical explanation" he argued smirking at me but both our heads whipped to the side when we heard a scream and something inside me knew exactly who it was and I wasted no time running towards the sound.
Sophia's POV
I was rushing down the halls as stealthy and quietly as I could, I don't know how much longer I had before Demetri returned and realised I was gone but I knew that I had taken a wrong turn somewhere and was no completely lost which wasn't good for me as I was now blind and vulnerable in these walls with vampires all around me and if my blood was a special as Demetri said then I knew I wasn't safe around them just as much as I wasn't safe around Demetri himself.
I turned another corner and straight away knew my luck had run out even before I collided with what felt like a brick wall but I knew it was a person as their hands shot out and pushed me against the stone wall and I was looking into crimson blood red eyes before my eyes widened when I didn't know who this was and I had a feeling that the news of my existence in the castle hadn't been spread around.
"Mm looks like you lost your tour group" he snarled and I shuddered at the sight of his teeth which were poised to kill.
"I...I'm not-" he cut me off covering my mouth and my scream was silenced.
"Don't speak...I'll make this quick" he smirked leaning in close to my face and I could smell a sickly odor fanning over my face. "You smell...delectable" oh god I was like crack for vampires...HELP!...was Aro like Edward...I hoped so but I knew there was no way anyone would get to me in time so when he removed his hand bringing his lips down towards my neck I screamed hearing his growl of anger before he was suddenly ripped off me and I felt and heard a sickening crack before I felt the pain in my arm falling to the ground.
"Don't touch her!" I heard a deep animalistic growl looking up to see Demetri and Felix holding back the man that attacked me.
"Santiago, always touching what's not yours" Felix smirked holding onto the dark skinned pale vampire who was looking at them with blood crazed eyes which were flicking over to me every few seconds.
"Back off, she's mine" he growled out.
"You can't claim something that has already been claimed if you were smart enough you'd be able to smell Demetri all over her, you just attacked a guard members mate you idiot" Felix told him as I fought to calm my breathing holding onto my arm which was clearly broken from the pain.
"What's this?" my eyes widened when Aro appeared in a blink of an eye.
"He attacked Sophia" Demetri growled glaring at this Santiago person and I'm sure if he was Jane the man would be writhing on the floor.
"Felix, take Santiago away" Aro instructed and Felix nodded his head dragging Santiago away and out of sight before both Aro's and Demetri's eyes fell on me, the latter angry.
"What the hell were you thinking?!" he snarled at me and I pressed myself against the wall as far as I could to get away from him holding my broken arm against my chest as I stared at him in fear.
"Demetri" Aro spoke and Demetri stopped turning to him. "Let us be calm, I'm sure she didn't realize the danger" I frowned since I had but I'd ignored the instinct understanding now that it had been a huge mistake.
"She's mine!" Demetri growled out possessively and my eyes widened at the feeling I suddenly got in my stomach...did I actually like his possessive statement, there was so many red flags going off in my head right now.
"Yes but right now your scaring the poor thing" Aro stepped closer to me and I staggered back. "It's alright dear one, I shall not harm you...you are safe" I shook my head. "You are injured, Demetri take her to the infirmary" he instructed and in an instant I found myself in familiar and ice-cold arms being speed through the halls before he pushed open as set of double doors quickly laying me down on a bed.
"Hello Demetri, been a naughty boy again" a woman suddenly said appearing making me jump with a frown when I saw her red eyes...vampire but not only that she was stunningly beautiful.
"No" he frowned looking at her.
"Whose this, dinner?" the woman asked and my eyes widened in fear.
"No" Demetri growled out. "This is Sophia, my mate" he said and I noticed the surprise in her eyes before she glared towards me as if I'd just stolen her most prized possession.
"A human?" she asked and Demetri just nodded his head.
"Santiago attacked her, her arms broken"
"What do I look like a baby doctor?" she spat at him.
"Just fix her...please" I frowned at the 'please' directed towards this woman.
"You owe me" she shot back seductively making my frown increase before she was approaching me and I moved up the bed. "Keep your pet still" she growled out and Demetri put his arm around me keeping me still as this woman reached for my arm and started examining it. "It didn't break the skin, it'll heal quickly...I think anyway" she disappeared in a blink of the eye and was back with the next with a bandage and an arm sling.
"How quickly?" Demetri demanded.
"I don't know, a few weeks at the earliest I'm sure...humans heal slowly" she protested wrapping up my arm with a piece of wood as a splint then clipped the sling around my shoulder with my arm inside.
"Thank you" Demetri spoke before I felt his arms slip around my back and underneath my knees lifting me up into a bridal hold.
"I'll expect you later then" she flirted making me frown.
"Another time Heidi, we'll talk later" he replied making my frown deepen before he was speeding off and I found us back in his room with him placing me on the bed before he moved to the far side of the room as I watched him.
His shoulders were tense and ridged...more so than I'd ever seen from him and that was saying something since he always looked like a stone statue to me but I could tell he was angry and I definitely didn't like it knowing it was directed at me, I moved my legs over the edge of the bed and went to stand but he growled and my movements ceased.
"What were you thinking, did you not hear me when I told you not to leave this room?" he spat looking over at me and I could see his eyes were a darker shade of red showing his anger. "What did you think was going to happen, outside these walls you are nothing but food!" he yelled making me jump.
"I'm sorry" I cried feeling the need to apologize.
"Did you even stop and think about it before you decided to put your life in danger?" he spat and I looked down scolding myself.
"Why do you even care?" I spat back at him suddenly and he stopped staring at me with an unreadable expression.
"I don't know"
"That's not good enough!" I growled out angrily ignoring his growl of protest and stood.
"It doesn't matter, your my responsibility" he growled out and I glared at him.
"That's still not good enough" I sighed turning away from him but suddenly felt a cold hand against my cheek turning my head back to him seeing him standing in front of me.
"Because your my mate, if anything happened to you..." he sighed and I could see the confliction in his eyes. "You don't understand what it's like...for one of us...a vampire" he struggled out sounding like he was holding his breath.
"Then tell me, I can only understand if you tell me Demetri" I replied looking into his eyes which were nearly black again...how much time did vampires have between feeds...did they have to feed everyday...was my scent making him thirsty?
"I don't...I don't know how" he breathed out and I felt the breeze fan over my face, it wasn't exactly a sickly odor like that other vampires was...it was actually kind of nice...attractive.
"Try" I told him and he sighed once again stepping away creating distance between us and I felt myself actually missing his proximity.
"I...I never thought this type of feeling could exist especially for someone like me and the only thing I have to explain it is the ancients and their wives" my eyes widened at the information that Aro and the other coven leaders had wives...didn't think vampires cared to participate in a human custom but maybe it wasn't quite like that. "Marcus, he had a mate but she was murdered and he explains it as having his whole reason for existing being erased and you just want to die...I never want to feel that which means you can't ever die"
"Do you realize how insane that sounds?" I replied walking to the window sitting on the window seat. "You can't say stuff like that especially when you don't want me in the first place, you've forced me to live here with no intentions or a second thought about me" I felt the tears start forming in my eyes, I don't know why I was getting so emotional since I shouldn't care this much.
"I know" he replied before I heard the door open and shut meaning he'd left and only when he was gone did I break down, not only was it from confusion but it was in pain as well from my broken arm and I doubted vampires has anything for the pain.
Once I got over my small breakdown I looked up and saw a subtle sign of sunlight coming from the window so I carefully peeled back the curtains and was suddenly feeling the warmth of the sun on my face, I thought it weird that vampires could be out in the daylight since I'd seen the Volturi and those vegetarians standing perfectly out in daylight, granted it was cloudy and overcast but was all the legends myths.
I clearly wondered whether this was going to be my life, waiting around seeing nothing but these walls of Demetri's bedroom, with my only glimpse of the outside world being this window waiting for Demetri to decide what he wants from me.
I heard my stomach start growling reminding me that I haven't eaten in at least 24 hours but to be honest I didn't feel like eating anyway and I doubted a castle full of vampires has a kitchen either although there was that human secretary but there was no way that I was risking leaving again which meant I was going to have to wait until Demetri came back from wherever he'd vanished to.
Demetri's POV
I had to get out of there, I shouldn't care about the girls feelings...I haven't thought about primitive human feelings but when I was around her she made me feel...human, more human than I have in centuries.
"Demetri, how's the human?" I looked up seeing Felix walking towards me.
"Heidi wrapped up her broken arm"
"You saw Heidi?" I frowned at him.
"I don't know what to do man, do I actually take her in, turn her into a vampire or do I just keep her as a human forcing her to live out the rest of her days as a prisoner"
"Why don't you start by getting to know her?" he suggested and I paused turning to him. "You know what I mean, actually talk to a girl without the intent of an ulterior motive"
"I wouldn't even know how to make small talk" I sighed as we continued walking.
"Ask her about her interests, her past" he shrugged.
"I already know that she's got no one that's noticed her disappearance"
"I think your gonna have to get a bit more deep than that" he laughed and I sighed. "How's she smelling by the way, still as delectable"
"Shove off mate" I spat at him annoyed for him bringing up her scent as it brought the familiar burn to my throat but the reminder of her scent also brought another thought, the fact that I couldn't track her and knew I had to consult with the ancients since this has never happened before. "I have to speak with Aro, can you make sure that Sophia isn't stupid enough to wander off again"
"Afraid you'll lose her" I rolled my eyes as I walked off towards the throne room using the knocker to announce my presence and the doors opened allowing me to walk in seeing the ancients in their usual spots.
"Ah Demetri, how is the dear Sophia?" Aro smiled at me.
"She has a broken arm and seems okay" I replied approaching them stopping at the respected distance holding my hands behind my back standing tall and respectful.
"Yet you seem upset"
"It's Sophia, somethings...off about her" I explained and his eyes furrowed confused before he speed towards me.
"Allow me" he held out his hand and I placed mine into his immediately watching his eyes take in my thoughts before they widened. "Mm that is very curious, perhaps you really have met your match" he grinned making me frown, I didn't like the thought of having a mate that I couldn't track.
"Brother?" Caius demanded.
"It seems the dear human may process a gift, Demetri's ability cannot detect a trace of her mind"
"How's that possible?" Caius demanded clearly unsettled with the thought of someone who knows of our existence being unable to be traced and it made me worry for my usefulness knowing about the last tracker that proved below my ability.
"For that I do not know brother, perhaps...a shield like power" Aro guessed and I could see the lightbulb go off in his head, the possibility of a shield ability is why he was interested in the Cullen's human pet and now he might have another right in his grasp but that meant Sophia had to be turned and I didn't know if I wanted that.
"The girl must be made vampire" Caius replied and I fought to keep the scowl off my face.
"Patience brother, we must take this with the utmost precautions" Aro argued. "If were led to believe that Sophia had a shield power that is working while human then we wouldn't want to force her away and we have no idea if Chelsea's power will work on her" I felt a tad bit relieved by his answer. "We must give Demetri a chance to woo his mate and convince her of our lifestyle"
"Yes master" I nodded knowing I had no choice, it was either Sophia became a vampire or she died that much was obvious to me and now I had to try and convince the girl to become a vampire, that shouldn't be too hard...right?
