Unlikely Heroes
Chapter 32: Descend Into Hell
Meanwhile with Jill's group they had to reach the bottom of the Bilge Passageway. It was 10:25 p.m. at this moment. There wasn't anything special here, just the inner workings of the ship. "What's that sound?" Jill then asked. The others heard it to. "Water?"
"Yeah," Parker replied. "It's coming from over there."
"Not a bad thing to get a little wet," Napoleon said.
Jill led the way forward. There was a door found that needed a card reader so that way wasn't good. There was another door and that was able to be opened. It was then down a ladder but before that, those from the nether brought out a water proof ruin for them and the humans to keep their clothes and weapons dry. This would help as at the bottom of the ladder there was water up to the waist. "Where's the leak?" Jill asked.
"Damn you Deltro," Parker growled. "Are you trying to sink the ship along with your new virus?!"
It was then through another door which could still be opened with the water. It was then a short walk before some metal stairs were reached that got to another door. It was in here that some control room was found. "Let's see what can be done here," Logan said.
They went up to the main control panel and pressed a button. "Attention!" went a female voice. "There is flooding in the bilge! The bulkheads cannot be lowered during a power outage. Power can be restored from the engine room."
"Then we'd better find the engine room on the double," Parker said.
The group then went through a door were flashlights were needed for the humans. It was then down some stairs to more water. "The level of it is getting higher," Pachira commented.
"Come on, there's no time to lose," Uma said.
"Wait a moment," Logan then said, stopping everyone. "I thought I just saw something up ahead in the water."
"I'll check it out," Napoleon commented.
The male vampire went forward and it came out after he went around the next corner. The back was sleek like a shark. There were no eyes but two long sections of flesh. The mouth was full of sharp teeth. There were four arms and the front opened like a mouth. The vampire shot at it and it retreated underwater. It then came leaping out and the guy with his bare hand stabbed through the head like he had with others. That was enough to kill the enemy. "That one's a swimmer," Logan said. "Best to stay out of the water."
It was then through a door and then the group saw where the water was coming from. "Well here's our problem," Uma stated. The liquid was coming from some kind of vent and like a waterfall.
"Let's hope we can shut this off soon," Pachira said.
It was then through a door to a darkened hallway with the water at the same level. There wasn't anything else so it was onto the next room. Here two more of the new enemies surfaced and were quickly killed. It was then through a door with bars that led to some stairs. There was a small room in here that had some kind of devices. "What are these?" Uma asked.
"Looks like some kind of restart ones," Logan replied. "I think this can be used for the water."
"They seem stuck," Jill said.
"This is where we reset the power, but nothing's working," Parker commented. "I'll see if I can figure this out."
"We'll go to the other control panel and try that," Napoleon said.
Looking up ahead showed steam coming down. There was also a note on the wall. It was a report on the Steam Pipe Maintenance. It was to all the staff that did it and the first part of it stated that one of the covers came off the pipes in the bilge passageway so steam was pouring out of it. This was scalding, so they would have to work around it. In the engine room there were two levers. These could be used to match the needles on the meter to the proper letters. This would stop the steam from spilling out of the pipe. It then had what the three letters controlled with A being for the maintenance room, B for the engine room's upper level, and C for the lower level engine room. The report ended by saying that if the steam was stopped from leaking out of one room, it would leak out of another. The group found one of the levers that when pulled stopped the steam in the lower area. Once that was finished it was back out into the hallway.
The smaller group then went through a different door that led them to the area where the steam had stopped flowing from. Here some more custom parts were found. After Jill grabbed these, it was then to a door in the same room that led to a ladder. They all climbed up it and found themselves on some kind of walkway. Ahead was a huge circular panel with gears on it. "Look at the size of this thing…" Uma said.
"I wonder what it's for?" Pachira asked.
There was a button next to it. Pressing it showed a center section turning but nothing happened. "Looks like a cog is missing," Napoleon stated.
It was then down some stairs to the level that had the water. It was here that the fish like enemies from that fountain were swimming around in. They attacked and were killed. Then it was down the hallway to a door where a single enemy was and killed. In here there were some more custom parts and a new type of snipping rifle. Both of these were taken. Then it was back the way they came and up some different stairs. This got them to the area right in front of Parker. Right away they saw a lever for controlling the stream, an ammunition case, and a memo. "Let's see what this says," Pachira said and began to read it along with the others.
It stated that timing was needed to restore the power and two keys as well that were used at the same time. It then left it off by saying that it was in a gear but in such a way that it seemed obvious where it was. "The place with the missing cog," Uma commented.
"Let's see if we can find it by adjusting the steam here," Napoleon stated.
The group did so and were able to get the lever near Parker at the A switch. The steam hadn't stopped which meant it had to have stopped elsewhere. They went back through the same door the male human was at but took a different path. This led to the missing cog. There was also a wheel that had the same gauge as the ones for the steam and this was turned. Doing so caused the needle there to go to off. The group went to where it was needed. Pushing the button after it was inserted caused a secret compartment to open up. Inside was the missing key. "Got it!" Uma stated.
Parker then contacted them. "Everything's shot to hell here," he said. "Luckily I was able to make some repairs. Come meet me in the engine room."
"See you soon," Logan replied to him.
The group made it back quickly and Jill inserted the key. She and Parker turned the two on either side at the same time. Everyone saw on the monitor to their right that thing were back online. "There, good as new," the male human said,
Suddenly bars came out where the doors were. "What the-!" Logan exclaimed.
Suddenly there was a warning sound that was heard. "What happened?" Jill asked. Just then the sound of water coming from a pipe and filling up this room made them all look to see that happening.
"Shit!" Napoleon growled. "Another trap!"
"Quick, everyone come here!" the male wizard said. They all did so and those from the nether brought out two ruins; one for creation and the other for manifestation. With these they were able to create google and breathing devices. They all put them on which was a good thing since the water wasn't stopping.
"Good thing we can do things in situations like this!" Pachira stated. They all put the stuff on.
"We'll swim until finding a place to exit out of," Napoleon said. "There should be one and above all, stay calm."
They all nodded and the room was almost fully submerged before they could dive. There was a gate that could be removed but something would be needed. Uma found a pipe and the males took it to work it free. The group swam through the hole and surfaced in another of the ducts. They all climbed out and the stuff that had been summoned disappeared. "No problem at all," Logan said.
Looking ahead showed an ammo case for the shotgun Jill had which she took. They then walked down the area and landed in a section that had been visited before. They also noticed another thing. "It's still rising," the female human said.
"The power's back," Parker commented. "We can bring down a bulkhead in the control room."
They made their way back. "Let's see what we can do now," Logan stated.
The male human took care of the bulkhead by pulling on a lever. "Alright, that should hold us for now," he said.
"I'll check the control system," Jill said. She typed away at the keyboard in front of the monitors and brought the radar and things like that up and online. She then saw a flashing red point on a map of the ship as did the others. Parker and Logan checked their communicators.
"Damn it I don't have a single," the wizard said. Parker didn't as well.
"Maybe the antenna array is out," the male human stated.
"It's on the observation deck," Jill commented. "Maybe we can fix it. I'm sure the view is nice."
"Me to," Uma replied. "Let's go."
"I hope it's not too hard like needing Cosmo," Pachira said.
"Speaking of him, I wonder how Chris is doing and Nicholas?" Logan asked.
The wizard was right to wonder as meanwhile at 11:16 p.m. Chris's group had arrived at the ship they had been told about. The humans, Liru, and Nicholas landed on the front deck where a helicopter could land by lines. The werewolves had one of the dogs in their arms as they came down. "Where could they be?" Jessica asked.
"Anywhere," Chris replied.
"Let's get started," Nicholas stated.
"I hope we're not too late," Liru whispered.
Chris led the way forward. "How are we plaining on finding them?" Jessica asked.
"No plan, just search every room," the male human replied.
"Great…" she said sarcastically.
"There's more of us so it makes more sense," Nicholas commented. "Me, Liru, and the dogs will try to sniff them out in the meantime."
Chris led the way into the first room. "What if Deltro finds us first?" Jessica asked.
"Then we capture 'em and interrogate 'em," the male human replied.
The group got into an elevator and rode it down. This took them down to the shopping area of the ship. It was similar to where that mutated coms officer had been fought. Enemies then began to appear. "This is a new mutation…" Chris said. "A reaction to the new virus."
"I knew this would happen," Jessica commented.
They fought their way through until they reached another hallway. "God what is with this ship?!" the female human stated.
"I just hope Jill, Parker, and the others are okay!" Nicholas commented.
The group continued and made their way to the grand area that looked like an opera house. Just then their communicators went off. "Come in; Jackass here," said Quint. "Give me a sit-rep."
"Hey there," Jessica replied into hers. "Any idea where we can find Jill, Parker, and those guys?"
"J-Jessica?!" Quint's voice then took a deeper manlier tone. "Um, yeah… Hold on! Judging by the ship's condition, I believe there's a problem with the engines. I'd wager they're in ship's bilge trying to get them going again."
"That makes sense," Chris said.
"We're heading there now," Nicholas commented.
The group quickly made it to the casino area. The second they entered, Kratos and Venus let out growls and the werewolves ears twitched. "I hear pounding like on a door," Liru said.
"Easy," Nicholas told the canines who stopped but were still on alert, the hair on the back of their necks raised.
They went down the escalators and now the humans heard it. "I'm pretty sure there's something in there…" Jessica said. Suddenly the sound of a buzz saw was heard and the door was knocked down revealing two more of the same enemies like the one the coms officer had become. "See? Told you!"
"No need to fucking gloat; just shoot them!" Nicholas growled as everyone did just that.
This wasn't as hard of a fight like Jill's group had gone through. But these were still tough enemies. However there was greater strength for the humans and nether world beings this time. The group managed to take each one down and the enemies exploded. The second one left an object behind. "What is it?" Liru asked, seeing it.
Chris leaned down and picked up a key with a trident design at one end. "That should come in handy," Nicholas commented.
"Now then…" the female werewolf said, looking to where the way to the bilge was.
Chris led the way through the door the enemies had come from and used the new key on the door that came up. It was a small room beyond that with a ladder leading down. "So Deltro wants to unleash this virus on the world," said Jessica.
"Right, but it has already infected the ship…" the male human commented.
"Which means that Jill and those guys had a welcome party for them…" Nicholas stated.
The group then jumped down the hole. The werewolves caught Kratos and Venus so the dogs wouldn't hurt themselves. In this part the humans needed their lights to see but the other four were okay due to the ruins they had affecting them. They could even work on animals. However, they had hardly gone down the new hallway when they saw a lumbering enemy. The legs were skinny but the entire upper half was bloated. The color was the same as what had been seen on the other enemies. Everyone fired and they noticed the mass grow bigger before exploding like an explosion, spraying blood and gore everywhere. "I'd hate to be caught up in that," Liru said.
The group then went into the next room which was darker. They also noticed the blood and skulls piled up at points and another bloated enemy heading their way from around one of the shelves in here. This one was taken down quickly along with the other two that showed up. There were also the regular kind and the one that could fire projectiles from its crossbow like arm. After all the monsters were killed, they found a ladder and went up it. Inside the air ducts another of the exploding enemy was found and killed. After that, the group went on their way forward and found the elevator that would take them down to the bilge. "I hope we're not too late," Nicholas commented.
"I had no idea it would take so long to rescue them," Jessica said. "Parker is going to owe me a nice dinner for saving his ass."
Chris led the way through a door and down a ladder. It was then through a couple more before they got to the control area. "Attention!" went a mechanical female voice. "Engine trouble found. Report to the engine room immediately."
Chris kept leading the way, the group taking out whatever monsters showed up. Finally they reached the door and Quint contacted them. "The engine room's there!" he stated. "Hurry!"
The male human opened the door and the group went in. But the others weren't there and there wasn't any water. "Nobody home," said Jessica.
"Where'd you go… Jill…" Chris stated.
"Um… guys?" Liru stated. "You might want to look at this…"
They all looked up and saw a sign that showed this ship had power and the name which read Queen Demiramis. "Aw shit…" Nicholas growled. "We're on the wrong ship!"
It didn't take long for this ship to be fully checked and cleared out. O'Ryan was called about this. "Okay, well Quint and Cosmo learned during their investigation that there were two ships," the human said while talking trough his phone. "Your group must be on the Queen Lenobia's sister ship. Jill, Parker, and those guys are probably being held on that ship."
"Have you been able to locate it?" Chris asked.
"No, but I've got my top people on it."
"But not much time has passed, right?" Nicholas replied.
"Correct. It's possible that up until a few hours ago, the ships were traveling together. Search the area, see what you can find."
"Roger that." Chris signaled for Jessica to come, and they along with the dogs and werewolves got on a helicopter.
"Let's hope this time it works," said Liru.
Meanwhile with Jill's group they were making their way back up. "Any idea what Deltro's trying to do aside from jerking us around so we don't know what we're doing?" Parker asked.
"Who knows?" Napoleon replied.
"We haven't seen hide or hair of them since that video," Jill said.
"Yeah, I don't like it," Logan commented.
"The sooner we get to the observation deck and contact HQ, the better," said Parker.
"At the very least, I hope they pick up on Chris's whereabouts," Jill stated.
The group made it to the casino and then went through the doors that would take them to the elevator in the grand area that looked like an opera house. But then they heard a noise. "Did… did you hear that?" Uma asked, scared.
They went forward with caution and got to the elevator. "Good, it's working," Pachira commented.
"Good, now we can get to the observation deck," Parker said.
The elevator began to head up. Suddenly something made the thing stop, lurching the car, and smashing the glass in the windows. Everyone felt that and staggered a bit. "What the-?!" the male human stated.
"Something's up there!" Jill said.
They then saw whatever it was look in with one eye. It was red with a white dot in the middle. The rest of it was hard to say what it was as it was like a few things from the sea mixed together. The group fired at the eye and it retreated. "What the fuck is that?!" Logan asked.
The thing then had a limb come down. It was spikey on the back but fleshy on the front and looked somewhat like a turtle shell. "Kill it!" Napoleon snarled. "This thing is making us go over the weight limit!"
The monster kept reappearing a few more times before it retreated. The elevator began to move up again. "It's gone for now…" Uma said with a sigh of relief.
The elevator made it up and the group stepped out. "Alright, we're finally here," Logan commented.
"And… it's night out, so there's nothing to see," Parker commented.
"This would've been perfect for us, right?" Pachira asked Napoleon who just nodded in response.
Looking around this room showed that as there were a few comfy spots to sit at along with concession stands. There were even tanks in here that looked like they could explode if shot at. Jill led the way to the center of this place but then something came down with a lot of force that knocked the human female onto the ground. The others staggered as well. They looked and saw a monster that was taller than Parker and bulky with coverings like a shellfish. Some of the areas were spikey and there were places were flesh was exposed. But then the group saw one of the arms and realized this was the same thing that had attacked on the elevator. "I think this thing is stalking us!" Pachira said.
"Then it's the same one!" Napoleon snarled.
"Time to put this one down!" Logan stated.
Jill was able to rise back up and move out of the way. The group attacked, but the shots did nothing. "That armor is too thick!" Uma stated.
"Shoot the tanks!" Pachira shouted. "It may work."
The monster was lured near one and that was shot at which caused an explosion of metal and fire. The enemy falter and now the group could see some fleshy spots to shoot at. "Take that, you son of a bitch!" Parker yelled.
After some shots, the thing rose up and charged forward, using the huge arm it had as a weapon. "Careful," Jill said, seeing how it tore the concession stands apart like paper. "One hit and you'll be done for."
"Maybe you but I'm good!" Napoleon stated. This was due to how he could regenerate himself.
"Look out!" Logan shouted as the thing came charging in. "Let's see if some grenades can do the trick!"
Jill tossed one at the enemy and it exploded, causing the monster to falter. "How you like that bitch?!" Parker yelled at it. It was shot at before the enemy rose up again.
The group found out that while the thing was able to charge in fast, doing so left fleshy parts exposed and it was slow to recover. So it was a matter of avoiding and waiting to attack. However at certain points, the monster raised up its large arm and brought it down which caused everyone to fall to the ground. Even this wasn't enough as it only took some minutes before the enemy was killed and the body fell apart in sections. A ladder leading up came down. "Finally got it," Napoleon said.
"That wasn't as bad as some past ones," Uma commented.
Jill found a riffle ammo case and picked that up. "What a pain in the ass piece of shit," Parker groaned. "What a night!"
"At least you weren't with us those nights like the destruction of that city," Logan stated with a grin.
"The antenna is above," Jill said and led the way up the ladder.
The group arrived at a small room were a Deltro Card Key was found. This was used to get outside. "Ah… it's good to take in fresh air again…" Parker said.
"We got a lot more than we bargained for on this ship," Jill commented.
"All in a night's work," Logan stated.
"Fighting for our lives this whole time," Pachira said.
"Let's hope we can catch our breaths while contacting HQ," Uma commented.
It was then up a ladder. Here a power box was found. "I'll check the antenna's wiring," Jill said. She got the cover panel off and then had to rewire the system. The group knew it had worked when they saw the big pillars that acted as the antenna begin to turn.
"Looks like that did it," Napoleon said.
"Time to give it a shot," Logan commented.
"And keep your fingers crossed."
They all got on their communicators. "This is Vermillion," Jill stated, using her codename out in the field. "Headquarters, do you read?"
"O'Ryan here…" came the reply of the said human. "Are you guys alright?"
"We did it!" the female human stated.
"Boss, it's Parker," the male human in the group said. "Shit hit the fan here, and it hit hard."
"I know. The whole thing was a setup and we fell for it."
"How do you know?" Jill asked.
The group heard the older male human let out a deep heavy sigh as though trying to figure out how to answer that. "How do you know it's a setup?" Napoleon asked this time.
O'Ryan still didn't answer. "What is it boss?!" Parker stated. "Say something!"
At the older male human's desk he then looked up when a beeping sound came on. "Just stay put, I've got an emergency call," O'Ryan said.
"No, wait!"
The other male human turned to his laptop that could be used as a phone. "Director O'Ryan," said a female voice on the other end of the line. "We've received an emergency call from the ESF. They're reported satellite movement."
"The European Security Force? Go on."
"Yes sir. Apparently Derragrigia's solar energy integrator is being reactivated."
O'Ryan's face went to shock for a few seconds before coming back to the present. "Already in motion are we?" he asked more to himself than the caller. The male human rose up, knocking his coffee mug on the desk over. "Looks like somebody's found that ship." His gaze turned to the desk that had a book where that quote had come from, the one that had been in the message. Next to it was a photograph of him during the panic and helping out the DBC. There was another man in that photo, one roughly in the early 50s with a mustache and beard neatly trimmed that matched his silver white hair in a suit. He was also taller.
"You haven't changed a bit," O'Ryan stated, referring to the other man in the photo. He then got back to the group. "Parker!"
"HQ! What's going on?!" the said person demanded.
"All hell's about to break loose. The solar energy matrix has activated. They're aiming at the Deltro hideouts on the Mediterranean disguised as cruise ships."
"The satellites that destroyed Derragrigia!"
"Are right above us…" Jill finished. "They can't just ignore the ultimatum and obliterate this ship!"
"Boss!" Parker stated. "Get us out of here!"
"Sorry," O'Ryan replied. "But I can't authorized that."
"Sir, what is going on?" Jill demanded.
"Uhh, you're out of time I'm afraid. A rescue just isn't possible. Chris and his group are traveling by sea. They won't reach you in time."
"Chris! He's alright!?"
"No time to explain, I'll do what I can to stop the attack. O'Ryan out."
The small group looked at each other. "Now what?" Pachira asked.
"Shit!" Parker stated. "I think this is the worst day of my life!"
Just then Quint came in. "Jackass here!" he said. "The chief has filled me in on your predicament. There's only one thing you can do. Confuse the satellite's targeting system."
"I say we try that before using the ruins and magic," Logan said to the others.
"How the hell do we do that?" Parker asked.
"I know everything about the ship. I can figure it out. Just get back inside the ship. I'll radio you again soon."
"Let's move, who knows how much time we have left," Napoleon said.
"Uma, let's review what we can do by magic in the meantime as we do so just in case," Logan told the female witch.
The small group made it back inside and used the other elevator that hadn't been used to travel down. But then the ride came to an end suddenly. "Damn it, it stopped," Parker groaned.
Luckily the door was open and they could crawl out to one of the floors in the opera house like area of the ship. Quint then contacted them. "I know what you have to do," he said. "You're gonna have to use the UAV."
"The UAV?" Jill asked. "There's a drone plane on this ship?!"
"Yep, Deltro used it to carry out their attacks last year. It's in a container on the foredeck. The UAV can discharge chaff that'll throw off the satellite's targeting system."
"Ok, the foredeck is where we need to go," Parker stated.
"Let's move then," Logan said.
"You better move fast, Quint out."
It was quite a bit of flight of stairs to get down to the lowest level. The group then heard Laymond talking on a communicator. "Yes… I see," he said. "I do what I can to stop-" He saw them coming. "I have to go." He then gave them a look. "You want to die with Deltro or do you want to live?"
"Sheesh, just passing through," Logan replied.
"How does he know what we're trying to do?" Jill asked as the group went through the next set of doors.
"You're right," Napoleon said. "Something's not right about this…"
"Figure it out later," Pachira commented.
The group then found themselves at the hallway that led to the shopping area. "Hurry, the UAV's just ahead," Parker stated.
They made their way there through some doors and a couple in the group spotted something scurry out of sight upon arriving. "I just saw something!" Uma commented.
"Let's be careful," Pachira said.
They went down to the first level of the shopping area. But they hadn't gotten far when Hunters began to show up. "Shit!" Parker yelled. "More Hunters?!" Those from the nether who hadn't heard the name and realized they had faced against different variants of these before. "It's like all my worst enemies have come back to haunt me!"
The others figured it was during the time of that panic. The group fought their way through these enemies and found even more beyond the next door. Once those had been killed they rode an elevator up. "Where's the UAV?" Uma asked when they stepped into a room that they had been in before.
It was here that the card key picked up from before was used on a vault to get some illegal custom parts and the next door open where more Hunters were waiting. "Damn!" Napoleon stated. "More of them!"
All these new enemies had to be taken out. But at least the container that had what they needed was right by. "Finally some peace and quiet," Parker said after the last Hunter had been killed.
Napoleon and Logan opened the container and saw the plane was in there. "We have it here," the male vampire stated. "Let's get this thing set up."
"Let's hope we'll make it," Uma whispered.
It was now 1:08 am by the time the plane was assembled and Jill was setting the coordinates on it. A few beeps told the group it was ready to fly. "We need to launch this thing as far as possible," the female human said.
"All set to go," Parker commented.
"Better late than never," Logan said.
"Quint, we're good to go," Jill told the guy on the other end of the line in the communicator.
"OK, the remote pilot controls are in the ship's hold!" the said male replied. "Go through the side deck to get to the hold!"
"You could have told us sooner, jeez," Parker said. Everyone began to hurry towards that destination. "Hey, are we gonna make it?"
"Let's not think too hard about that," Napoleon growled.
More Hunters began to show up and were quickly shot down. Now the group were on one of the sides of the ship. They could see the lifeboats hanging here as well. Other enemies then began to show up including the walking kind that exploded. The monsters were killed quickly and then the group reached an elevator. Luckily it opened right away but the ride down seemed to take forever. But then at last the elevator arrived at the area and the group spotted enemies in here and the door that would get them to the controls. But they had hardly stepped out when suddenly the mutated Rachel showed up. "Rachel!" Parker stated as they dodged her. "Damn it; don't you ever quiet?!"
Napoleon let out a shout and hit the mutated human with a blow of his fist and sent her flying. Jill tried one way but found that was blocked. She did pick up some custom parts. The group then had to go the other way, avoiding enemies and Rachel who had somehow recovered from the blow. They jumped down to the lower level and saw there were traps on the floor. They looked like the bear kind but were urchin like. Everyone could hear Rachel's mutated laugh. After getting pass the traps, the mutated enemy with a buzz saw came out. "Sorry, but we don't have time to play with you!" Napoleon stated and with incredible strength stabbed right through the monster with a bare hand. Jill saw a rocket launcher and grabbed it, knowing it would come in handy even if there was only one shot.
Then it was through another door. "Damn it, I hope we're not out of time!" Logan said. Rachel suddenly appeared, having used the air vents to reach this area. Jill fired at the mutated human with the rocket launcher and there was an explosion. The enemy fell down and the group ran pass her. Only two enemies were guarding the door ahead and were killed quickly. Going pass them and through the final door showed they had arrived and there was a Deltro banner hanging on the wall.
"This is it!" Jill stated. She went up to them and began to work at them. "Come on… make it…"
Meanwhile while all that had been going on at the headquarters of the DBC, the man in the photo on O'Ryan desk was answering the call of O'Ryan. "What could the DSAA want with me?" he asked, walking down a hall.
"Uhh, how long has it been Morgan Ransdale?" O'Ryan replied. "One whole year?"
"I hate to disappoint, but you're too late."
"Why have you activated the satellites used for Derragrigia?"
"You ask why I'm doing so?"
"Yes, what's got you spooked? Isn't it a little premature to call down the wrath of god?"
Morgan didn't answer but made it to a door and used his hand on a scanner to open it. He walked into a room that had map of the world and was wired up to the satellite. "Satellite targeting system," went an electronic female voice. "Enter authorization."
"The time has come, O'Ryan," Morgan said into his phone. "Abandon all hope ye who enter here." The guy hit the enter key on a laptop.
"Authorization approved. Firing laser."
In space, the satellite began to open up the multiple panels it had. These would focus the sunlight it collected and turn it into a deadly beam. At the same moment Jill hit the launch button to launch the UAV. Her group could see the plane had successfully launched by a monitor like Morgan could see the satellite was working from his monitor. The UAV was flying and fired the chaff, creating a glittering trail. The satellite beam of energy came down and was confused by this. It went after the UAV and the thing blew up. The group on the ship saw it had worked. But what they didn't know was that the beam was still working and stirring up the water. It caused a huge wave to start heading towards the ship, threatening to sink it to the bottom of the sea.
