Sophia's POV

I still couldn't believe that this was happening, I felt completely powerless waiting for if and when Demetri returned...we had left Volterra at the beginning of the week, all I had with me was a bag with a couple of pairs of clothes, Demetri's copy of Shakespeare plays in case something bad happened I wanted to remember him, his grey pea coat and myself holed up in a hotel in Seattle.

We had gone to London with Demetri filling me in vaguely saying that there was a few allies that they had to convince to stand with them which I didn't think it went too well because he returned to me angry and upset and I barely got to see any of the sights as I stayed at the hotel waiting for him, we barely spoke both of us too caught up in our own thoughts of the possible tragedy ahead.

After that we'd come straight to Seattle where we settled into a hotel for two days, him waiting on his orders which came earlier this morning and it was a very heartbreaking goodbye...

"Don't go" I pleaded hanging onto his side like a child but I didn't care.

"You know I can't stay" he told me prying me off him holding my hands beside me. "I love you Sophia Hart" he told me and I frowned.

"So long as your alive it's Volturi" I glared at him and he smiled letting go of my hands to cup my cheeks.

"I know" he kissed my forehead before pulling my lips to his and I let myself be swept up into his intoxicating embrace but too soon he was pulling away. "Take care of yourself while I'm gone"

"I love you Demetri, more than anything"

"I know, I'll love you forever mi amore" he pulled me into his arms and I laid my head against his chest feeling the tears start cascading down my cheeks but I didn't care since this very well could be the last time I ever see him. "I have to go" he sighed but didn't look like he was willing to let go any more than I was.

"Come back to me please" I begged as he finally let go and stepped back.

"I'm going to try my hardest" he replied brushing his hand across my cheek one last time, my eyes instinctively closed with the soft caress and by the time I opened my eyes he was gone.

That was over a day and a half ago and I hadn't heard anything from anyone and I felt my hope dwindling every hour, he had left instructions with the hotel to have room service automatically delivered to me since Demetri knew I wouldn't take of myself and I ate it only to distract myself but half of it tasted disgusting even though it looked and smelt like a 5 star quality meal and I couldn't keep any of it down.

I leant back on the bathtub after another round of emptying my stomach, touching my forehead feeling all clammy and gross...I knew this had to be the stress since no matter how hard I tried I couldn't help thinking of him not returning and the thought was unbearable since I didn't ever want to live in a world where he didn't exist, I never thought I'd be the type to become so reliant and dependent on a guy that the thought of a life without them ever could affect me like this but I didn't hate it since Demetri was everything to me.

Demetri's POV

There was no fight, no war and yet I wasn't relieved about it since the news that the child wasn't immortal and had been conceived by the mind reader and his mate while she was human filled me with dread since it had never been heard of before but more importantly the moment it was revealed my mind had gone straight to Sophia.

I think the reason it had never been heard of was because it was extremely rare for a male vampire to ever have the restraint to be with a woman in such a way that could possibly get her...impregnate her and yet the mind reader and I had that in common...had I have known about it I would have never agreed to have sex with Sophia while she was human since Bella had died...it had damn near killed her.

"Demetri slow down!" I heard Felix yell out but I barely heard him over my racing thoughts as he fought to keep up with me as I was sprinting towards Seattle, fear motivating my feet to get there as fast as possible. "I know what your thinking-"

"Of course I am" I shouted coming to a complete stop, he kept going not realizing I'd stopped and had to come back. "I had sex with her, more than once!"

"You can't jump to conclusions, we've never heard about this before so we have no idea just how rare it is"

"I don't care, I can't lose her" I shook my head ready to rip my hair out from the sheer panic that Sophia could even...

"You won't, Bella survived it" he shrugged.

"But you heard that other hybrid, none of the others had, Bella is the first one and I won't survive it if I lose Sophia because of me" he sighed nodding his head.

"Then let's get to her, the ancients want us back in Volterra" I let out a breath before we started running back to Seattle where I prayed that she was fine and that she wasn't already with a child.

Sophia's POV

I was nearing hysteria by now, the sun had set an hour ago meaning he's been gone two full days and I felt like my heart was breaking and my will to live slipping away since this amount of time could only mean one thing-

"Sophia!" my head snapped up hearing his voice but I didn't dare move from the bed...my body frozen in fear that I might just be imagining it but then the door opened and he walked in with Felix behind him. "Soph-" I ran at him colliding with his chest feeling the pain go through me like I'd hit cement but I didn't care.

"I thought you were dead!" I cried sobbing into his chest and he held me but his body was rigid and stiff. "What happened, if everyone-" I stepped back leaving the question open but neither of them were answering me, they were both just staring at me like I'd grown another head. "What happened?!" I demanded more forcibly and Felix was the first to snap out of it.

"Nothing, didn't even end in a fight" he replied moving towards the bed and sat down. "Such a let down if you ask me" I rolled my eyes at him before turning back to Demetri.

"So how come it didn't end in a fight, was there an immortal child?" I asked him and his frown deepened as he looked over my shoulder at Felix and the two seemed to have a silent conversation between them. "Hello" I waved my hand impatiently in front of his face and his eyes drifted back to me.

"It wasn't an immortal child" he finally spoke since entering the room.

"What do you mean it wasn't an immortal child?"

"It was a hybrid" Felix replied for him and I turned to him confused.

"A what?"

"Half vampire-half human" he shrugged like that was the most normal thing in the world.

"How is that possible?" I asked them.

"It wasn't as far as we knew but turns out the mind reader had gotten his mate pregnant while she was still human" my eyes widened as Felix explained and Demetri finally seemed to fully snap out of his statue like behavior.

"Are you feeling okay?" he asked me and it was my turn to freeze. "Sophia answer me!" I shook my head unable to speak and saw Felix sit up from his laid back position.

"Little kitten, you got something to tell us?" Felix pressed.

"I...I don't know" I finally got out and saw sheer panic cross Demetri's face.

"We have to take her to a doctor!" he exclaimed ready to walk out the door but Felix placed his hand on his shoulder.

"We can't do that, who knows what it looks like inside there if she's pregnant"

"We can't just sit around and do nothing!" Demetri argued with him.

"The leader of that coven, he's a doctor and clearly he delivered their covens hybrid"

"Oh yeah because they're just gonna help us after what just happened" I could tell Demetri was panicking and to be honest I was too since I had no idea what to think.

"We'll play on their sympathy, he's a doctor and they have that whole patient care duty thing, don't they?" I rolled my eyes at Felix's reply.

"I...I could go alone" I suggested and both their eyes snapped towards me.

"No!" Demetri protested. "They're still vampires and they have werewolves as pets" my eyes widened since I didn't know werewolves existed but then again should I really be surprised considering vampires did.

"Its actually not a bad idea" Felix said siding with me and Demetri turned to glare at him. "Hear me out, she goes to them telling them some lie about getting away-"

"They have a mind reader!" Demetri continued to protest. "Not to mention the future reader, she probably already knows since you two are seriously considering this" I sighed going over and grabbed his hand.

"He's right" I told Felix. "If I go there I have to tell the truth, I can go alone and that alone should spark a tiny bit of trust, I'll tell them exactly what's going on and that you two are gonna keep your distance until we confirm that it's even possible that I'm pregnant right now" Demetri flinched at the word 'pregnant' and I didn't blame him. "It's the only way they're going to help us"

"No I don't like sending you in there alone"

"We don't have any other choice, unless you know of another vampire doctor" I told him and saw his posture sag in defeat.

"I...I can't lose you" he finally said clinging onto me.

"You won't, I promise" I told him and saw them share another look meaning clearly I was missing something. "What?" I asked and saw Demetri shake his head at Felix clearly telling him not to tell me. "No secrets remember" I said glaring at my husband crossing my arms and saw Felix smirk entertained by my posture, Demetri frowned and sighed.

"The human, Bella she died" he told me and my eyes widened. "The mind reader had barely been able to turn her in time"

"Oh" I said avoiding his eyes.

"If your pregnant, we're not going through with it" he told me straight out and I frowned not sure how I thought about that so I didn't say anything and we made the plan on how we were gonna do this.

Felix had rung through to the ancients and had no choice but to tell them what was going on and there was a mixed reaction from them, Marcus sounded a little worried with his one sentenced voice of concern, Aro seemed intrigued and dare say excited stating that yes I should go to the vegetarian coven, Caius was his grumpy self stating that we couldn't trust them but was swayed with the same thing that swayed Demetri, we had no choice.

So I was sent to Forks, Washington with Felix and Demetri stopping at the border, the latter which much protest while they agreed to stay nearby in case I needed them meaning I now had a phone which we'd picked up and I was given directions to the Cullen house...who knew the Volturi kept a census of where all the vampires lived but then maybe it was Demetri tracking them...I knew that was a reason he was worried because he couldn't track me but again I stress that we didn't have a choice and they weren't going to trust them anytime soon.

I'd stopped the cab about a mile back and gotten out finding the epic long driveway and begun my walk being utterly surprised when the huge house came into view, Demetri told me that they'd hear my approach and to be cautious since one of the human I saw last time was now a newborn as well as there was other human blood drinkers that they had enlisted to bare witness that the child was not immortal and did in fact grow.

I felt my body start taking more hesitant steps as I approached the house walking onto the front porch but before I could even think of knocking the door was opened and I was staring into the gold eyes of the blonde leader and the short pixie one.

"Hello" I spoke feeling stupid.

"Come in" the leader said opening the door but I didn't move since who just invited a stranger into their house especially when the last time they saw me I was with the very people that just tried to kill me.

"Alice already explained" the mind reader said coming up behind them. "She saw you coming" I frowned since Demetri had been right.

"None of us here will hurt you" the leader said and I nodded and finally moved forward walking into the room and followed them up a flight of stairs into a lounge room and I instantly felt fear when I saw the entire coven waiting, the child was missing though...I saw Edward frown and I quickly scolded myself since this wasn't a spy mission and I didn't actually care about their kid.

"What's she doing here?" the blonde girl spat sneering at me.

"Rosalie" the leader said in a sort of scolding voice, like a father scolding his daughter which was another thing Demetri warned me about, this coven was more like a family. "We haven't been properly introduced, I'm Carlisle" he held out his hand and I hesitated for a second before I shook it.

"Sophia" he nodded with a polite smile.

"I'm sure you know Edward from the last time we saw you" he pointed to the mind reader and I nodded. "That's his wife Bella" he pointed to the human I'd seen last time only she wasn't human anymore and was now sporting the gold eyes they all were signalling their diet. "That's Jasper" he pointed to the blonde male that had scars all up his arms that looked like bites. "Alice" he pointed to the pixie haired one, she was the future reader. "Rosalie, Emmett" he pointed to the blonde woman and the huge guy standing next to her. "And Esme my wife" I nodded at all of them.

"Carlisle what's going on?" Esme asked him.

"I saw her coming here" Alice announced and all eyes turned to her. "She's here because she believes like Bella that she's pregnant" everyone's eyes widened except for Alice, Edward and Carlisle's.

"By who?" Emmett asked frowning.

"Who do you think?" Edward shot at him before frowning towards me. "Demetri" I nodded my head not caring how they all saw him, he was the love of my life.

"Your telling me that the Volturi's playboy knocked up some human" Emmett laughed and I glared towards him.

"They got close after he kidnapped her" Edward explained and I frowned not liking that that's how they saw it, I mean its what happened but it was different now, we fell in love and got married. "They're married" he added clearly reading my thoughts.

"Oh shit" Emmett said.

"Emmett language" Esme said and I found myself smiling a little, this really was like a family, Carlisle and Esme were the parents obviously.

"Let's go to my office" Carlisle announced and lightly guided me to his office where it was just me and him. "Have you had any symptoms?" he asked and I frowned trying to think, I mean what symptoms were there that your carrying a vampire/human hybrid baby.

"Bella got sick" Edward announced again reading my mind and appearing into the room. "Her period was late, all the normal stuff when a woman's pregnant" he explained for me and I nodded.

"I got sick a couple of times the last few days but I'm not sure about my period, I've never really been regular so I don't really keep track of it" I explained for them nervously fiddling with my hands.

"How many times were you sick?" Carlisle asked with a clip board seemingly writing all this down, he really was a doctor.

"Most of the day but I was also stressed" he nodded clearly understanding the reason behind why I was stressed without me needing to say it and I saw Edward frown, get out of my head, I glared at him.

"When did you last have sexual intercourse?" I blushed embarrassed about this but he was a doctor.

"Two days ago"

"And the first time?" he questioned and I knew he was clearly meaning the first time with Demetri and not when I lost my virginity since they weren't at the same time.

"17th of December" I told him recalling our wedding quickly, we've been married for two weeks now.

"Well it all seems like a replica of what Bella was going through at this time" Carlisle deliberated putting down his clipboard. "Could lay back on that table and lift up for shirt for me?" I nodded walking over to the table which looked like one of those ultrasound chairs and laid back lifting my shirt just below my breasts and frowned when I noticed a slight swell between my hips that definitely hadn't been there the last time I took notice of my weight. "I apologize for the cold" he stated before he began pressing down on my stomach, it didn't faze me as I was used to Demetri's cold skin.

I watched the doctors features twist into a concerned one which I immediately didn't like as he pushed and pressed on my stomach before he leant back and looked towards Edward, the two clearly conversing my thought as Edward nodded or shook his head.

"I'd like to do an x-ray, are you okay with this?" I nodded my head and they both quickly set up the machine and it wasn't long before he was pinning them up on the light board and all I could see was a darkened out spot where my uterus was and once again they shared looks.

"What does it mean?" I asked them but I think I already knew.

"You're pregnant" Carlisle announced.
