Sophia's POV

The words kept playing over in my head, it wasn't possible but it was, it had happened before in this very house...what was I going to do, could you even abort a hybrid child...it's what Demetri wanted but is it what I wanted...did I want to have this baby...did I want to risk nearly dying.

"Sophia" I heard my name and looked up seeing Edward was now gone from the room leaving me with Carlisle, he was holding a glass of water for me which I took and had a couple of sips to calm my nerves. "Would you like to call Demetri?" I shook my head, I wanted to talk to him but what would I even say to him. "I have to ask, has all this been your choice?" he asked and I frowned appalled that he would even ask me that.

"Of course, he's my husband and I love him we just didn't know this was possible" I told him and he nodded his head.

"My professional opinion is to call him, discuss your options but you should know that this is a very serious question you need to ask yourself since Bella is the only one that we know of to have survived and it wasn't easy"

"He...he doesn't want it" I struggled to say. "Demetri said to get rid of it"

"Is that what you want, your my patient not Demetri?" he asked and I frowned since I didn't know what to think or what to do. "It happens very fast, you'll be pregnant for just under a month so you'll need to decide quickly"

"Can I...can I talk to Bella?" I asked and he seemed surprised by my request but nodded his head and seemingly told Edward through his mind because it wasn't long before he and Bella were walking into the room.

"I'll leave you to talk" Carlisle said leaving the room, Edward still stayed and I guess it was because Bella was still new since Demetri said blood is all you think about, I didn't know what I really wanted to ask her but she'd been through this and I guess I just wanted to really know what I'm in for if I go against Demetri's wishes, I heard Edward scoff and had an amused smile on his lips which made both Bella and I frown at him, me for other reasons since he was reading my mind without my consent again.

"She's exactly like you Bella" he answered her questioning gaze and it was my turn to be confused since how was I like Bella. "I wasn't exactly on board with her pregnancy at first either" he explained my thought question. "She went rogue and went through with it"

"Oh" I said before my eyes met Bella's. "What did you feel when you found out?"

"Shock" she said. "Fear, protective but most of all love, I knew I already loved her"

"You thought it was a boy" Edward smirked at her and she rolled her eyes at him making me smile since it reminded me of how Demetri and I bickered in good moods.

"What was it like?" I asked and wanted an honest answer.

"It wasn't pleasant" she stated giving me an honest answer. "But I wouldn't trade my daughter for anything, you'll crack ribs, you'll grow rapidly in a matter of weeks but most of all you'll starve" my eyes widened since that just sounded horrible. "I grew weaker every hour until we found a way to limit that symptom"

"And what was that?" I asked and they shared a look.

"We discovered that the baby craved blood, she was draining mine in substitute" Bella explained and my frown grew since how the hell did they limit that symptom.

"She began to consume blood, while human" Edward explained and I felt the need to be sick...no I was actually gonna be sick...a bin was in front of my face before I'd even gotten the request out and I emptied my stomach contents before looking up seeing Edward holding the bin and Bella had tissues for me to wipe my mouth which I gladly took since it was disgusting.

"It's not as bad as it sounds, the baby will make you crave it and..." she trailed off and once again they shared looks. "You won't survive the birth, Edward was barely able to save me with his venom" oh...I guess I was already in agreeance with Demetri to be turned and knew I was going to drink blood.

"Thank you for being honest" I told her, she nodded giving me a sympathetic smile before she and Edward left the room with Carlisle coming back. "I...I want the baby" I told him touching my hand to my stomach since this baby was Demetri's, it was a rare miracle but one I now wanted since I'd never thought about having kids but I hadn't thought about finding someone like Demetri in the first place, this is just another one of life's wonderful gifts.

"You know this risks, I suggest you tell Demetri" he said handing me a phone but I shook my head and pulled out the cellphone Demetri had given me and pressed one which immediately speed dialed him and he left to give me the small amount of privacy within a house full of vampires.

Demetri's POV

I was going out of my mind waiting for Sophia's call pacing the small amount of floor in the motel room Felix and I had gotten while we waited outside of the Cullen's territory, I honestly couldn't believe that I'd even gone through with this idiotic plan to begin with but I knew taking the risk of not finding out was far greater.

"You need to calm down, I'm sure she's fine"

"It's been three hours" I told him continuing to pace while he just sat and watched TV, you'd like he didn't care about Sophia but I knew otherwise and his constant tapping hands told me he was nervous too. "What's taking so long?" I asked looking out at the clouds, it would be so easy to go there myself but we needed the Cullen's trust if this went badly...god why was life torturing me like this, first I was facing death with the fight but now I might be killing my wife.

When the phone suddenly rang both our heads snapped to it but I moved quickly speeding over to it and picked it up immediately putting it to my ear hearing her breathing first before my name on her lips followed.

"Demetri"

"Yeah I'm here" I told her frantically. "Are you okay, did you see Carlisle, are you coming back?" I asked her quickly.

"Slow down Demetri" Felix told me and I sighed taking an unnecessary breath to calm myself down.

"Are you okay?" I asked her again when she was silent. "Sophia talk to me please" I could hear silent sobs and it broke my heart but couldn't help hope that it meant she wasn't pregnant which she'd clearly be upset about-

"I'm pregnant" she spoke and my body froze, no...no it's not true, please be joking mi amore... of course that's what I wanted to say but no words come out. "Demetri please say something?"

"I...the doctor can get rid of it right?" I asked her instead and heard more sobs come from over the phone.

"Yes" she replied and I let out a small sigh. "But I don't want to, I want it" she quickly said.

"No...no Sophia, you can't" I told her frantic.

"They told me what to expect, I want the baby Demetri" I shook my head even though she couldn't see me. "Please" she begged sobbing.

"Sophia please don't" I begged back feeling like I would be in tears as well if I had the ability to cry.

"I can't" she argued and I sighed sitting down rubbing a hand down my face.

"Perché stai facendo questo to me amore?" I asked her since she couldn't possibly think this is a good idea.
(Translation: Why are you doing this to me love?)

"I'm sorry but...it's part of you and I want it" I shook my head looking up at Felix seeing him in a matching state of shock.

"I thought were supposed to decide this together, I don't...I can't be a father, Sophia" I told her hoping she'd see my side but all I got was more sobs.

"I'm sorry"

"Sophia-" I heard the dial tone. "Damnit" I cursed pulling the phone away from my ear.

"Well that didn't go to plan" Felix said and I glared towards him.

"I have to go to her, I have to change her mind" I stood and started to leave.

"You sure you want to do that?" he asked making me pause.

"What are you talking about, I'm not going to let her die!"

"She doesn't have to die, the doctor probably knows what to do now and she'll be fine"

"He's done it once, she's not being his next test case" I argued glaring at him.

"Think it from Sophia's perspective, if you go there and tell her to get rid of it and she does just to please you then she might actually grow to resent you" I frowned at that since I hadn't thought of it like that. "She's already agreed to give up her mortality and that includes the chance to have kids with some human, but here she is ready to devote herself to you for eternity but also has the chance to have your kid"

"What if she isn't changed in time, I can live without her"

"Remember what I said about faith, it's time for a bit more faith again and trust me that Sophia will fight tooth and nail to hang on long enough for them both to be okay"

"I don't-"

"You have to trust her" he cut me off and I frowned but before I could think I heard the phone ring again and immediately picked it up.

"Sophia-"

"It's Carlisle, I think it'd be beneficial for you to come to Forks but I ask that it just be you for obvious reasons" I frowned at the leader of the vegetarians but how could I reject his invitation to be with my mate.

"I'll be there as soon as I can" I told him before hanging up with a deep sigh. "I gotta tell the ancients" he nodded and I called Volterra to relay the news.

Sophia's POV

After I'd hung up the phone not hearing Demetri's next words I broke down into uncontrollable sobs since I knew that he wouldn't want it but hearing him say that he didn't want to be a father hurt more that I thought it would since I knew that he would be an amazing father but I didn't want to do this if he didn't want it, I couldn't do that to him.

"Oh sweetie" I felt cold arms wrap around me and I instinctively took solace in them not caring who it was but I did look up and noticed it was Esme and admittedly felt better in her presence as she gave off vibes that I could only compare to that of a mother and I'd never felt that before. "I'm sure everything will be okay"

"He doesn't want it" I cried into her shoulder.

"Neither did Edward but now he's a fantastic father, Carlisle is going to invite him here since I think it's best that you have a conversation in person, it'll be okay" she softened out my hair and I nodded feeling myself getting tired from all the crying. "You need rest, I'll take you to Edward's old room" she lifted me into her arms and carried me up to the top of the stairs and turned right into a bedroom and laid me down on the four posted bed.

"Thank you" I smiled at her and she nodded back with a kind smile before she left and I felt my eyes drooping before I drifted off.

It was much later when I began to stir as it was dark outside the floor to ceiling windows that made up most of this house, I sat up frowning when I head voices outside the door which seemed to cease then the door opened and Carlisle walked in.

"How do you feel?" he asked me coming over taking a seat on the edge of the bed next to me.

"I feel fine" he nodded.

"Can I take your blood pressure?" he asked and I nodded letting him put a cuff around my arm and inflate it taking my pulse with his fingers before nodding his head. "Let's get you something to eat" he stood up and I did the same following him downstairs into the kitchen where Esme already was with a sandwich and a glass of milk.

"Thank you" I thanked her again since she really was the kindest person I'd ever met.

"You quite welcome" she smiled at me before they shared a look.

"I've called Demetri and he's on his way here" Carlisle told me and I frowned since I didn't know what to make of that, would him being here change his mind or would it change mine, I couldn't be angry with him for calling Demetri since he had a right to be here. "Once he's here we'll talk more about your care and what you should expect over the next couple of weeks" I nodded my head and started picking at the sandwich before they left me to eat.

It was eating in peace and quiet until the chair beside me suddenly moved and someone sat down, I turned seeing the big guy and frowned wondering what he wanted while I took him in, he was possibly as big as Felix and seemed like a muscle head.

"Hi" he smiled at me.

"Hi" I said back pushing my empty plate away from me as he just stared making me roll my eyes since what was with vampires and staring. "Can I help you with something?"

"No"

"Well then I'll kindly ask that you don't stare at me, it's weird"

"So what's it like to be mated with Demetri?" he suddenly asked and I frowned raising an eyebrow at him and his random question.

"It's fantastic" I spat back sarcastically and he smirked.

"Sophia, could you come with me?" Carlisle said appearing, I nodded and left the kitchen following him to his office. "With the understanding that your going to be keeping the baby, I'd like to do very regular check-ups if your alright with it"

"I'll do anything to make sure that everything goes well" I told him and he nodded, he got me to sit on the same table and he took my blood pressure again, measured the swell of my stomach.

"Have you felt any movement, pain?" he questioned writing down his results in a notebook.

"No" I frowned since it had to be too early right...but then Bella said the pregnancy only lasted a month.

"Hmm" he frowned pursing his lips and it made me nervous.

"Should I have felt movement by now?" I asked, a hand instinctively moving to hover over my stomach.

"I'm not sure" he replied which didn't ease my nerves. "The only thing I have to go on is Bella and she was feeling painful movements by two weeks"

"Does...could something be wrong?" I asked the nerves turning to fear.

"I don't think so" he replied and once again it did nothing to ease my fears, was my baby different to Bella's...was it dying.

"Demetri will be here in a few minutes, I can hear his thoughts" Edward announced coming into the room and my eyes widened in a panic with the knowledge that Demetri was so close...I was afraid that he was going to be able to change my mind since I never found myself having a strong will when it came to my husband.

"Delay him for a few minutes, I'm not finished with Sophia" Carlisle told him, Edward nodded before going out the doors that lead outside to delay my lover. "I need you to speak up with any new developments, no matter how small they may seem" I nodded since I wasn't going to take this lightly with the knowledge that I could die. "I also think we should supplement blood into your diet much quicker than we did with Bella, try and avoid you getting so weak as early as possible" I frowned at that thought but again it needed to be done and I was going to do anything to make sure the baby was okay. "Okay, I'll let Demetri in now if that's alright with you" I nodded my head and the door opened in an instant and my eyes fell on Demetri's crimson red eyes with Edward hesitating behind him.
