Sophia's POV
It was quickly becoming bittersweet because fewer than three weeks after we'd returned to Volterra and Thea had spoken for the first time she had walked, Demetri and I had been cuddled on the couch reading to out loud to her from Demetri's favorite plays with her sitting on the floor with her toys playing with them while listening to his voice reading to her when she had stood up not in the least bit shaky, and crossed the floor almost as gracefully towards us and climbed up to sit in my lap...we had stared in shock as usual but quickly hid it and clapped for our daughter success which brought a smile to her face.
Later I had called Carlisle and spoke with him about her progress but he assured me it was normal and right around the same time line as Renesmee which both brought me comfort and despair because soon my baby would be as big as Renesmee.
We had set up her room and already she was sleeping in a big girl bed and Chelsea had made it her responsibility to provide her with clothes as she just about seemed to grow out of her clothes everyday which was another thing that scared me but I never showed it in front of my daughter, only speaking about my worries when Demetri and I were alone when Thea was asleep.
When I was with Thea I made sure to make every second count meaning I made sure to take a thousand photos of her as back in Fork's Rosalie had started a baby album for me that was already filling up so it looked like it was to span years rather than weeks and documented every phase of her accelerated childhood that way I could always remember my sweet baby girl.
At three months, Thea could have been a big one-year-old or a the very least a small two year-old but she wasn't shaped exactly like a toddler as she was leaner and more graceful, her proportions were more even like an adult's, she could speak with flawless grammar and articulation as well as she could not only walk but run and dance, she could even read and I remembered the day she first read.
"Dadda I wanna read?" she asked stopping Demetri from reading and looked down at her as she was sitting in his lap.
"Okay" Demetri nodded at her and she looked at the book, it was just on poems that seemed to calm and help her sleep so Demetri read to her every night with a new poem.
"Time is
Too slow for those who wait,
Too swift for those who fear,
Too long for those who grieve,
Too short for those who rejoice,
But for those who love, time is
Eternity"
I smiled up at Demetri since our daughter truly was the most amazing thing I've ever witnessed in my life and I felt more in love with her everyday and that of Demetri since without him I wouldn't have her...I never thought I believed in fate but sitting here with my family...what else could describe it.
I tucked Thea into bed kissing her forehead before I returned to our room seeing Demetri where I always found him, sitting on the couch with the fire blazing even though we didn't need it with the poetry book in his lap reading ahead for some of the better poems which he would mark out for tomorrow night and I smiled going over and placed myself in his lap taking the book from him and started flicking through it myself smiling when I came across one I liked.
"The man of my heart's own choice,
Doth make my soul rejoice;
He is wondrous fair,
With gold-burnished hair,
And a kind and winsome voice.
His eyes are like Heaven's own blue,
And his heart is just as true;
And he loves me, oh,
And his children, so!
There is naught for us he would not do.
He is not very great in size,
But he is, oh, so very wise.
And there is naught to compare
With the light that shines there,
In those luminous soul-lit eyes"
I felt Demetri's arms tighten around me as I flicked through again pretty content to remain here all night and it's pretty much exactly what we did finding poems that we liked and bookmarked them or read them to each other.
"You came into my life like a star
And filled my heart with joy
You took my pain as if it was yours
And gave me love that no one could
You were my pillar when I was falling
You were my strength when I felt low
With your smile, you made my living on earth worthwhile.
I love my eyes
When you look into them.
I love my name
When you whisper it
And love my heart
When you love it.
I love my life,
Because you are the part of it"
I had closed my eyes and was just listening to his velvet and melodic voice letting it relax me into what was the closest a vampire could get to rest and it felt nice, once and for all not having to worry about Demetri wanting to taste the blood that used to run through my veins, not have to worry about him crushing me...we were equals and two half's of a whole...we were free of the troubles we've endured to get to where we are today.
"Sophia" I opened my eyes looking up at him. "Eisai i agapi tis zois mou" I smiled remembering that from the first time he said 'I love you'
"Can you please tell me what that means?" I pressed and he smiled leaning down pressing a kiss to my forehead.
"You are the love of my life" he finally translated for me and I smiled.
"Can you say it again?"
"Eisai i agapi tis zois mou, Sophia"
"Eísai i agápi tis zoís mou, Demetri" I repeated and his eyes widened when I'd said it all without stumbling once.
"I have to teach you more Greek, it's incredibly sexy coming from you" I laughed sitting up and straddled his waist.
"So teach me" I told him wrapping my hands around into the back of his head pushing around his hair a little messing it up. "What does that word you call Thea mean?"
"Koritsáki?" I nodded my head. "Baby girl" I leant in and kissed him because he was just too adorable for words.
"How do you say husband?"
"Sýzygos, which basically means spouse, wife and husband but if you were to use wife in a sentence it would be 'gynaíka'...example, S'agapó gynaíka mou"
"I love you?"
"S'agapó" he nodded when I'd guessed what else he'd added. "Se agapó ántra mou...is 'I love you, my husband'"
"Se agapó ántra mou" I tried it out for myself.
"You're an even quicker study now then you were before"
"Must be all the extra brain capacity" I replied innocently and he started laughing.
"You basically just called yourself stupid"
"No I simply stated that vampires don't need to worry about forgetting things, I feel like I have a limitless brain and it's very easy to get distracted"
"I told you that remember" he laughed and I rolled my eyes before sliding my hands over his cheeks and pressed my lips to his just to silence his annoying laughter which he caught onto pulling back. "Did you just silence me?"
"It worked didn't it" I smirked before pressing my lips to his again and immediately I felt his hands slide up my thighs and disappear beneath the skirt of the dress I was wearing, my fashion sense changing a little now that I actually felt comfortable with my body and the fact that I was naturally alluring but it wasn't that drastic as I still liked my t-shirt and jeans.
"Mi amore, you play a dangerous game"
"I like a little danger" I smiled getting off him and started backing up towards our bed, once again we've been too busy and despite being home for the past few weeks we've been focusing on Thea so we haven't had sex since the warehouse. "I did fall in love and marry a vampire after all" I sat down on the bed. "Now are you going to have sex with me or not?" I asked seeing as he hadn't moved and was just watching me.
"As you wish, mi amore" he was next to me in an instant and pushing me all the way back before I heard the ripping of fabric and my dress was nothing but shredded fabric but I gladly returned the favor ridding him of his shirt tearing it away from his body, neither of us truly caring about the pieces of fabric which were in our way as we came together as one, reconnecting in the way that was most natural for us it surprising me still with the fact that we didn't ever tire out or really realized the time that passed as we seemed to just go on and on only having short breaks after our releases were met.
"I could get very use to this" I whispered against the skin of his chest as I laid on him in the aftermath of our seventieth round tonight, I hope these walls are sound proof...I felt his smile as he kissed my forehead before brushing the hair away from my face. "I mean, we never have to sleep, we never get out of breath...how the hell are we supposed to do anything else" I asked and he chuckled.
"I'm quite happy to do this for the rest of our lives" I rolled my eyes before I smiled.
"I didn't truly understand how much you were holding back with me on our honeymoon" he laughed again, the sound reverberating through him as he turned us over so he was again hovering over me, my thighs resting on either side of his legs.
"I couldn't exactly give you all of it now could I" he smirked as his hand stroked down the outside of my thigh as he hooked it around his waist. "Besides, if I had you wouldn't be here with me today because I would have undoubtedly killed you if I had let go completely...you were a fragile little thing back then"
"Se agapó" I smiled at him and he leaned down pressing a kiss to my forehead.
"Se agapó" he whispered against my skin before I felt his length sink back into me and I smiled wrapping my arms around him once more as we let ourselves go and get lost in each other.
