Summary: "He settles for the least destructive option. He is definitely going to get into trouble if he is caught." A young Wrecker causes chaos, and Tech's the one the Kaminoans punish after he clears it up. One-shot.
Taking The Fall Of Another
The first mess hall brawl is, unsurprisingly, caused by Wrecker.
And Hunter and Tech had just gotten the regs to stop terrorizing them.
"So, ya want some of this, huh?"
It's incredibly violent and very physical- there are genuine cries of pain, though nearly all of them come from the regs.
And so, Tech ends up standing in a corner behind Hunter, who fights for them both because of Wrecker's brashness. The occasional reg cadet manages to get the slip on Hunter and get past him, but Hunter has taught Tech some defensive maneuvers for situations such as this one.
But three clones- though one is off on his own, likely breaking bones with his brute strength- against a whole cafeteria of others is a very one-sided battle.
Tech calculates the options between attackers, runs through every possibility that there may be to put an end to the brawl. Few ideas fit under the category of having the potential to work.
He settles for the least destructive option.
He is definitely going to get into trouble if he is caught.
Because he's going to turn out the lights.
"Hunter!" He raises his voice over the sounds of fighting, ignoring how his goggles are not at all straight on his face, the straps crushing his ears almost painfully. "I have an idea!"
"What?" Hunter asks, and the tone of his voice is permission enough for him to slip away and set to work.
It's easy for Tech to lose the few regs that try to follow him.
He's studied the layout of Tipoca City, memorized it a year or two ago- he knows exactly which power terminal he needs and where it is.
He only turns off the power in the mess hall and a couple of the corridors that lead to the entrance.
Then, he goes back for Hunter and Wrecker.
They remain silent until the barrack doors close behind them. Their breaths come in pants- they had run the entire way from the mess hall, so as to escape further confrontation with any pursuing reg cadets. It had worked, and now that they've made it back, Hunter's anger is evident.
"What were you thinking?!" He snarls, rounding on Wrecker.
The younger, larger clone takes a step back in surprise at the outburst. His voice is uncharacteristically quiet. "I just wanted to have a little bit of fun."
Tech, who's already picking up one of his projects, nearly chokes.
"Fun?" Hunter spits in disbelief. "One of us could've been injured! You know how the regs are- they don't give a womp rat's behind about any of us. And the Kaminoans, they are not going to be happy-"
"-CT-9907, report for a debriefing at once." It's Lama Su's- the Prime Minister's- voice that comes over the whole city's intercoms.
Tech can feel the color drain from his face, and he swallows back a moan of dread as he shakily rises back to his feet.
Because, of course, they know. Nala Se had told the Prime Minister of his enhanced intelligence once, before he'd met even Hunter- it was because of it that he even met Hunter, really.
Wrecker's at a loss, breaking the silence left in the wake of Lama Su's order. "What do they want with you?"
"I turned off the lights." He reminds him tightly, forcing himself to at least try to fight off the incoming waves of what he knows is fear.
"Calm down. We'll come with you." Hunter offers, almost gently. "We're at fault for what happened in the mess hall as much as- if not more than- you are." He gives Wrecker a pointed glare as he specifies the "more than" part.
"No!" Tech is quick to decline the offer, shaking his head without a second thought. "No. If they wanted the both of you there with me, they would have said so. I think it would be best if you remained here. I imagine they are angry enough as it is- we would do best not to provoke them further than we already have."
The Kaminoans are angry, and his stunt with the lights doesn't go unpunished.
Hunter bans him from so much as touching a power terminal anywhere in the city after that.
