Chapter 2: Just a Normal Day, Nothing else to see
Times had passed ever since the last time that Kusomitsu stepped his foot in Namimori and never did Tsuna saw as much as the shadow of the obnoxious blond mafioso.
Which is good by the way. He didn't really want to deal with the man, much less want him around him and his brother. And as much as their poor Mother would be joyed, the prospect of having him around the house would only restrict Tsuna on things that he want to do.
"Uhm… Nii-tan?"
Tsuna paused in scribbling on the wall and turn to his brother, "Yes?"
"Why are you drawing on the wall with a… magic pen?"
Tsuna examined their shared room. The room was dark, the lights are off and the windows are blocked with curtains to prevent the light from getting in.
Sigils that only appear in ultra violet light are littered in the entire room. To the walls, to the night stands, on their bed and to the ceiling.
With a black light in hand that Tsuna asked him to hold, Nari fidget. His brother never really liked the dark, and the black light wasn't really that much help in making things bright.
If anything, it only make things more creepy with the markings written all over the room.
Like something straight out from a Unholy Orphan and Supernatural crossover.
Just exactly how Tsuna wanted like it to be.
"I'm setting wards against ghosts."
Nari expectedly shrieked, almost dropping the UV flashlight, "G-G-G-GHO-GHOST??!!!"
Tsuna hummed in response. Yes, Ghosts along Angels, Demons, Reapers, Undead and so on.
Why you ask?
Because well, there is this pesky little thing called Vindice and Daemon Spade.
He would have include Kahiwara but the so called True Earthling is something that he can't do anything about since he also live in Namimori. He's more of a inevitable force than anything with his powers. But that lovesick ghost Daemon and the Undead Vindice with a revenge boners are a different stories.
To be honest, he doesn't want to deal with any of them at all, but Kahiwara is a Eldritch Genjutsu Otsuutsuki and thus way beyond his pay grade.
I mean, how do you even put wards against an entity that could read minds, warp reality and had lived way before the motherfucking dinosaurs?
Vengeful spirits like Daemon and Bermuda and his merry bunch, he could deal with. After all he's a Occult expert, the Greatest there is. (if you don't count Otou-sama, Lucas-ji-sama (Lucas-sama always did insist of being called uncle before, so why not call him both? Only when in work that it was required to address him as boss or Lucas-sama anyway. Though many did insist on calling him Master Lucas out of respect and worshipping, much to his dismay) and Otou-sama's wife, that is) Warding against a bunch of vengeful spirits is nothing but a simple matter.
While his adorable baby brother continue to flail around like a Magikarp, ("Hiieeee!!! Nii-tan, I'm not a Magikarp!") Tsuna admire his work.
Most of the wards that he used in the room are Enochian symbols. Some are Arabic while the rest are Sanskrit and Shinto. All aligned in to multiple interconnected arrays to create a one big 'NO-SUPERNATURAL-ASSHOLES-AND-MOTHERFUCKERS-ALLOWED' warding array.
There still a lot of room for improvements though. Once he finishes his research on creating his own working original warding language.
Still, the combination of Qi, Dying Will Flames and ESP imbued on the wardings are fascinating. He had tried to use Qi before in his pastlife in replacement of Magic when he tried to recreate a rune embedded in certain relic that he had excavated.
Needless to say, it didn't work out.
Otou-sama said that they were missing some components necessary to make it work which is lo and behold; Magic. And as much as he and everyone hated it, he and the others just don't have the affinity for Magic necessary to activate and power them.
Because from what he and everyone could gathered from the various temples that they had visited around the world, Magic in the modern era is extremely rare. Like the possibility of finding someone who has the natural affinity for it is 1 in a billion, and he's being generous with that number. And even then, there's no guarantee that the said person with magical affinity would be able to harness those talents.
So yeah, Magic is rare, not everyone have it and it can't be learned via normal means. It's like Maybelline. You have to be born with it.
Anyway, getting back on track. The result of combining Qi, Flames and ESP is just marvellous. Flames and ESP somehow manage to fill in the gaps that Qi wasn't able to fill and power the wards. The results are better than what he had expected.
Mentally, Tsuna cackled at the future possibilities that it holds. With these three powers, perhaps Magic isn't quite beyond his reach as it was before.
"Yay! I win! I win!"
Tsuna chuckled at his brother's reaction. He's been playing on Tsuna's home brew game that he had programmed in his laptop.
Nothing grand, just a simple flappy bird base game with few adjustment and add-ons.
Tsuna may not be a tech expert like Lei, Lucas Ji-sama and Otou-sama is but he did knew some of the basics.
And while he may be an Occult expert, he is also a researcher (albeit still an Occult one). Him working with technology is inevitable if he want to advance his researchs.
…like carbon dating some relics or making a precise database for all the piece that they had collected.
Sure most of the apparatus came from the RnD but they still need to know how to make them work and fix them on demand when necessary.
Never mind that they could just call some RnD staff to do it for them. Because while it's true that all of the existing department knew how to cooperate with each other at an astonishing levels, all of them are still required to be fully functional even when standing alone. Which is why all of the departments are such a Jack of all trades outside of their normal specializations.
Yes, Otou-sama is really amazing.
Tsuna turn to his brother punching the air in happiness and return to playing the game.
…he look like a normal kid when smiling so bright like that. You wouldn't think that he had a part of his soul sealed away by some creepy old man with ill intentions.
Tsuna's mood darken at the reminder. That Sandaime Hokage reject will suffer the next time that Tsuna sees him. He'll make sure of it.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when the door bell ringed.
He blinked, he wondered who was that.
Nanamama isn't home so he's technically in charge.
Yes she leave her two seven year old children in the house, alone. Don't get him wrong, she's really a loving and a genuine caring parent, Tsuna will give her that, but she isn't exactly the most… responsible or the most reliable mother around.
(He doesn't need to fully remember the canon to say that, living with her is more that enough proof)
Not that Tsuna could put that against her anyway, she's trying, but Tsuna knew that there's something just wrong in her, he just didn't know what yet. It could be something flame related like those fics focusing on her air headedness and Kusomitsu's absence, that or she's just like that naturally, he doesn't have proof yet so it's really hard to say.
"Just stay here okay Nari-chan? Nii-san will just looked who's at the door."
Nari-chan give him a smile and nodded, "Okay Nii-tan!"
He grinned and ruffled his brother's hair. What a cute kid.
With that, he walk down the stairs and leave Nari happily playing with Flappy Mario. (Satan, that sounds really dirty now that he think about it)
He opened the door to see who it was but found nothing when he looked.
Nothing, except a package in front of the door.
Who the hell leave this thing here?
He examined the package wearily, it could be a bomb from assassins for all he knew. Like Hell he would let Kusomitsu's shit ruin his family.
He then freeze when he saw who it was addressed to.
What the fuck?
He immediately tucked the package close to him and darted around to see if the sender is still around.
With no one in sight, he immediately shut the door and run back to their room.
He stared at the box in front of him.
He still can't believe that this… whatever the hell this thing is actually in front of him.
Nanamama is still out while Nari-chan is having his afternoon nap time (something that he now commonly do when the stupid sealing happened).
Perfect for some lone time without any disturbance.
He opened the small note on the package.
The note is addressed to him.
Much more is it is addressed to him with his past name written in to it.
Now you know why he was panicking.
I mean who send this to him? How did they now his past name? And what the Hell is inside this stupid box?!
The only person that comes in to his mind that could have possibly know his past name are Byakuran and Kahiwara. One having the ability to dive in to the parallel worlds while the other having the literal ability to read other people's mind and bend reality without breaking a sweat. His wardings be damned.
Which only make him more reluctant to open the damn thing.
That said, his intuition isn't ringing church bells and profanity at him yet to run away and in fact, is telling him to Man-the-fuck-up-and-open-the-satan-damned-box-you-stupid-weeb.
It's getting annoying, really. Sometimes… he wondered if Lei was somehow reincarnated as his hyper Intuition and Hyper Dying Will mode. He had read some fics in the that sounds exactly like that after all. Who's to say what is real and what is not? When he's essentially a Isekai protagonist himself with all the shit that already happened?
He sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose and yawn. Okay, okay, enough procrastinating as it is. He should really just open the box now.
"…" Tsuna's hands didn't move.
Like, right now.
"…" it still stayed the same and refuse to touched and open the box.
Like, really, really now.
"…"
"…"
Satan dammit, what the fuck! Screw the intuition, this is too scary!
What if it's a bomb made by Byakuran to by pass his intuition?! What if Checkerface rigged it somehow?!
He bump his head in to the floor and shriek silently to avoid waking up his sleeping brother.
Fuck his paranoia. Why is this so fucking hard?!
He freeze and cursed silently when he realized the reason why he find it so hard to open the Satan damned box.
…Stupid PTSD and trauma.
He breathe in an attempt to calm down. It's okay, it's just a box, a harmless box. A box that may or may not have a bomb inside that had somehow manage to by pass your intuition and will kill you and your brother once opened up like what happened before and—okay stop.
This is certainly not helping. Not at all.
He'll descend further down the rabbit hole of paranoia and PTSD if it continue like this.
He sighed as his eyes fell to the package in front of him.
This thing stills need to be open though. Who knows if it's really a bomb or something important.
He blinked and cursed when an idea popped in to his head and realize something.
He's such an idiot, he could literally imagine Lei sighing while face palming at him at his stupidity.
He doesn't really need to be near the thing when he open it doesn't he? He has ESP after all.
He focused his mind as psychic powers came out from him.
He's never been so thankful of this new found ESP powers that he didn't knew the origin of.
He lift the box using his mind and put a psychic barrier around it.
It's really hard to do something else with telekinesis when using a psychic barrier, Mob psycho 100 said as much. Not impossible, but it's really difficult to do so. He's been using Mob psycho 100 and the To aru series as a major reference for his ESP and it actually works fine. He still need more practice though, but he has time.
He began to unwrapped it with his psychic powers all the while maintaining the barrier. He open up the box and untangled all of it's contents.
His eyes widen when he saw what's inside the box. He immediately tore down his barriers and grab the box and all of it's contents right to his hold.
There's a phone.
A smartphone with a Satan Soul Mirajane and the logo representing Otou-sama's Economic Empire on it's case.
His personal smartphone.
What the Hell is this thing doing here? It… was supposed to have been destroyed at the airport when he died!
Beside the phone, the box also contain some of his personal hard drive (his anime and manga compilation with the others containing some of his research data), some relics form his personal collection (he is highly—I mean, slightly disappointed when he found out that his magical girl figurine collection wasn't included), and a piece of folded paper.
He's about to open the letter when he heard a yawn, "Nii-tan? Why are you on the floor?"
He turn to his adorable yawning sleepy brother and smiled brightly, quickly hiding everything out of his brother's sight.
"…nothing important Nari-chan!"
Nari-chan look at him skeptically and obviously didn't believe him. He pouted, and Tsuna can't help but want to pinch the kid's cheeks.
"Really?"
"Really."
"…if you say so." Tsuna laughed at his brother's reaction. "You look adorable pouting."
Nari-chan's face turned red and he sputtered, "I'm not pouting! A-and I'm not cute!"
Tsuna grinned, and poke Nari's forehead, "Sure my cute little brother, whatever makes you sleep better at night."
Nari-chan let out an indignant shriek, "Nii-tan! Why do you sound like some ninja anime villain."
He cackled, "Don't worry, I'm not going to murder our entire clan." Yet. Kusomitsu is on top of his shitlist.
(While on a mission, Iemitsu felt a foreboding feeling wash over him)
Tsuna sit under the tree, his eyes close as he meditate in the early morning.
He breathe, feeling every part of his body work on their own individual task. He could feel his heart pumping inside his chest, the blood flowing and pulsing in his veins along with the flow of the somewhat metaphysical energies flowing inside his body.
His flames churned inside him, moving, shifting, staying in the form that is neither of the Eight Flames of the Sky or the Seven Flames of the Earth. Malleable, turning in any of the flames of sky on his will and with the correct mindset.
His ESP is steadily growing everyday, parallel with his Qi and his flames, it's strain on him is getting more lighter as time pass by.
It's weird, having all this energy working in concert inside his small body. He was used to only having Qi before, but now he has three kind of energy partying inside him.
But he's okay, he's adjusting pretty well with them in his system, his experience with Qi in the past had helped him immensely in the front.
Speaking of his Qi, it's much more larger than what he previously had in his last life. If he were to try using some metaphors, it would be like only having a glass of water, but know he has a tub of it.
And as insignificant as that sounds, that increase is no joke he assure you, Tsuna used to be one of the people with the largest amount of Qi in all of Otou-sama's students in his past life. His Qi amount is only second to Lei with the said person having ridiculous amount due to him originating from east Asia on top of his martial arts ancestry, and with the exception of Otou-sama, Lucas-ji-sama, and Okaa-sama, Because those three were monsters of a whole other level.
The staggering Qi increase he had is a surprise but make sense if he actually thinks about it.
Dying will flames is a type of energy refined from one's resolve amongs other things, that was his theory at least. They are a power capable of affecting even the metaphysical and warping reality depending in their purity and density.
He is Sawada Tsunayoshi, a Vongola born, not just any Vongola but a Sawada Descended from Giotto himself. His flames are bound to be monstrous one way or another. His theory is that his flame capacity affected the amount of Qi that he possessed, which is pushed higher with the presence of his own cloud at the moment of his transmigration.
Now that he think about it, that may also explained his capacity for higher thought when he was still a baby, along with the ESP. But that last bit is only speculation, he doesn't have any concrete proof at the moment after all.
He sighed, he really need another researcher on his side to help him. Why Lei? Why couldn't they just reincarnate his friend with him?! It would be a lot more easier with him here around! Someone to throw ideas and theories back and forth!
He exhaled, calming himself. He open his eyes and stare at his hand.
And he breathe, Qi flaring and coating his hand.
This is the first time since his reincarnation that he had accessed his Qi raw like this.
He turn his eyes to a near by rock and his hand blurred.
There was a loud thud of something like a wrecking ball as the rock were smashed to pieces while dirt fly in different directions.
"…"
Ookay… that wasn't supposed to happen. He was supposed to carve holes on the rock with his fingers, not smashed it like a wrecking ball.
…he just hope that the neighborhood didn't hear that.
…wonderful, just wonderful.
Hopefully, that commotion didn't wake up Nari-chan.
Anyway, if his assumption are correct, that was almost as fast as Otou-sama doing his paperworks (Yes, he use Qigong when doing paperworks because, why not? It certainly help in getting things done faster).
Though it wasn't that much useful if he lack control.
Good thing that asserting will, impression and killer intent doesn't really necessary require Qi, though it can be enhance with it.
(In the Vongola mansion, Nono shivered.)
And using it to write runes on the house in tandem with flames and ESP is different. As he wasn't really actively controlling them, just saturating the runes and the pen he's using as he draw wardings around.
He stood up and stretch his back, as much as he hate it, this means more training.
He sighed, it's not like he has anything else to do beside going to school, lazing on his bed and spending time with his twin anyway. He's way ahead all of the current Anime, manga and popular culture, the tech are infuriatingly low, and he's physically too young to do adult things.
Tsuna grumbled, "Stupid reincarnation, its only Nari-chan and the superpowers that make things worth it."
Now, training would be far more easier if he could find a sparring partner, preferably someone close to his level.
"Nii-tan! Wait, slow down!"
Tsuna stared at his yellow haired brother. The boy was panting, face red with his whole body sweating profusely.
"But I'm already going slow!"
"But I don't have stamina like you!"
"But that's the point of all of this!"
Nari groan and whined, "But I'm already tired Nii-tan! It's so hard! C-can't we do this another time?"
Tsuna snorted, "Tough luck Nari-chan, you won't get out of this, you promised. We'll finish it now whether you like it or not." He then grab his brother and promptly pick up his pace, Nari shrieked in response.
The two of them then run multiple laps around Namimori and disturb the whole neighborhood with Nari's shrieks and Tsuna's mad cackling.
What? You thought they were doing something else? They're kids (well, physically in Tsuna's case), and more importantly, brothers, twins at that. While Tsuna may had tried doing it once with someone from the same playing field out of curiosity before, he like a Women's touch better. Preferably, someone who he is not secretly related to. He isn't in to twincest, much less any kind of incest labels that the most degenerate fanfiction writers in the darkest corners of the internet could think of.
(It happened before, and boy he is not happy. Apparently, his and the girl's biological father is a wild beast, if you know what that means. As long as it has legs and is a girl, he'll go for it. Hell, his apparent half sister's mother even told him that it doesn't even had to have legs, arms, or be a girl! As long as he found it hot and kinky, he'll do it. The mother had this, dreamy expression of her face while telling them her stories about their biological father that made Tsuna stare at her with a what-the-fuck? expression, while his newly dubbed half sister had this What-drugs-are-you-on-again? and a Dammit-Mom-you-said-you're-already-clean! look on her face. Ever since that day, Tsuna always grilled his dates information about their father. Because Satan dammit, he's not in to incest—!)
Tsuna shaked his head, forgetting events (which is now aptly dubbed as The Past That Never Happened) that should be forgotten. He turn to his shrieking brother who is now forced to run behind him due to his hold to increase his stamina.
He need to teach his brother to defend himself from the wild assholes and pedophiles running rampant in the tall grass these days. Oh right, and the mafia too, can't forget about those snobs. It's not like he could just catch them with a pokéball and hand then over to the police or something anyway.
Anyway, the first he need is the boy to have stamina.
Still running pathetically, Ienari shrieked.
"HIIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!"
Tsuna is just walking home straight from buying sweets.
Sweets help him in writing down theories and solving problems regarding his research.
That, and Nari-chan like sweets too.
…aaand he may or may not have been the one who kick started Nari-chan in to having video game addiction and now the kid don't want to go outside.
Tsuna sighed, he knew he was forgetting something. He briefly wondered were his brother had picked up the NEETdom and laziness (he ignored the stupid voice in his head that suspiciously sounded like Lei calling him Hypocrite). Now he had to think of a way to make the boy train his body on his own accord. Admittedly, he doesn't have idea on how to do that at the moment. But he'll think about that latter on.
After he deal with the crying red headed boy in front of him.
Just wonderful.
Apparently, the boy had his glasses and books stolen from him by his bullies. Now his glasses and books are on top of a tree with him no way of getting it down.
Tsuna would have ignore him and go home then eat his sweets with his brother. But nooo, because there is thing thing called morality inside him.
Tsuna grumbled, Stupid morals…
So here he is, helping a boy he barely knew instead of lazing around in his shared bedroom with his brother and eating sweets.
He gave the kid his belongings back after he had fetched them up from the tree (manually of course, he did without his ESP).
The kid cried more and thanked him profusely after he return back his things, "Thank you! Thank you! I don't really know what to do if you didn't come—!"
Okay, maybe it's not that bad after all. Maybe this is why Otou-sama kept on helping and adopting kids left and right despite having existential crisis about being a father.
He smiled gently at the boy, "No problem kid, just doing what anyone would do."
Well no, not really. Humans are evil little entities that usually just care for themselves and ignored everything around them that are not their obligation and the consequences of their actions. Genuine good people in general are dime a dozen.
"I'll walk you home, just in case the bullies find you again."
The kid then panicked and flail, clearly flustered at the idea. Honestly, the kid remind him of Nari-chan, easily flustered and a bully magnet.
"N-no! W-wait! I mean y-you don't have to do that for me! Really, It's fine!" The kid clutched his stomach for some reason, as if being under tight situations physically pains him.
Tsuna rolled his eyes and gently flick the kid's forehead. "It's okay kid, I don't mind. Unless you want to cross those bullies again?"
The kid let out at 'Eeeeep!' and hastily shaked his head.
Tsuna snorted, and take a lollipop from his bag of sweets, "Figures, here's a lollipop for you."
"T-thank you!"
"Anyway, I'm named Tsuna. You?"
"I-Im Shōichi! I-Irie Shōichi—"
Tsuna stared at the boy and now notice the similarities. Red haired, glasses, meek and a stereotypical nerdy looks. How that escape him is just ridiculous.
The boy, Shōichi, continue to babble off his nervousness and now Tsuna notice and realize that this kid will surely follow and latch in to him after this.
Fuck it, screw Byakuran. He hope the megalomaniac choke on marshmallows and die or better, go in to a ten year food coma. He's stealing this sun whether his frilly and sparkly winged self like it or not.
He did need another researcher to help him after all.
…now he just need the kid to learn how to fight back and defend himself so that he won't be a human doormat for bullies when no one is around to help him.
