Thanks for all the love last chapter. I'm so glad that so many of you like the start of this story.

To Brett: How's it going? Is this a good time to text?

From Brett: This is a great time. Text any time and I'll respond when I can. I'm doing good just in the clubhouse getting ready for the game tonight.

To Brett: Well, you'd better play well as I'll be watching.

From Brett: Yes ma'am

Brett smiles at his phone feeling happier than he has in a long time. He's never met anyone that he likes as much as Santana. After the game he sees a text from Santana.

From Santana: Great game, I don't know much about baseball but it seemed like you were kicking ass.

To Santana: It's all to impress you.

From Santana: Well, it's working.

To Santana: If you want, I can teach you about my spot.

From Santana: I'd like that.

To Santana: Do you know the positions or do I need to teach you about that too?

From Santana: I Googled them so I do know about them and that you play center field.

To Santana: Good since you seem to know the basics I'll start with a quick overview.

The pair continue to text constantly over the next day getting to know each other. They're both enjoying flirting with each other through these texts.

To Santana: I'm going to be on the road for the next ten days. When I get back will you have lunch with me.

From Santana: Heck yes!

To Santana: Cool when I get back, we can set up a date.

From Santana: Sounds like a plan. Will you still be able to text while your gone?

To Santana: Heck yes! I'm going to make sure I have time.

Santana is smiling at her phone. She really likes this guy and he seems to feel the same. The fact that he is making time to text with her just makes her swoon. No guy has ever put in so much effort.

When she got the text about him wanting to take her on a lunch date, she squealed. After she finishes texting with him, she does a dance around her apartment. She's got a date with this hot but very nice guy.

To Brett: Good luck tonight, I commandeered the TV from my roommate so I'll be watching.

From Brett: Thanks, just knowing that your watching will make me play better.

The following day Santana is at her part-time job as a waitress. She's been cutting back her hours recently as she's been focusing more on singing and getting more gigs so she hasn't had to waitress as much.

"Santana," the manager says. "Can I see you in the office?"

Shit she thinks, wondering what she did wrong. She follows him into his office.

"I'm sure you're wondering why I called you in here." the manager says sitting down.

"Yes, I am," Santana says nervous.

"Well, I heard you singing at the Giants game the other day. I told the owner and he wants you to sing here at night when this place turns into a bar. If you're willing tonight can be your trial run and if all goes well, he'll want you to sing every Thursday through Sunday nights." the manager tells her.

"Yes," Santana says without even needing to think.

"Great, you can head home to prep. Be back here by six for sound check and you'll go on at seven." the manager says. "You'll be singing from seven to nine or ten, depending."

"Thank you," Santana says shaking his hand. "You won't regret this."

Santana waits until she's outside the office before doing a dance. This is so huge for her. To have a steady singing gig is really good at this point.

To Brett: I just got a great opportunity to sing at my current job from seven to ten on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights if my tryout goes well.

From Brett: That's great San, when I get back, I want to come see you perform one night.

To Brett: I'm still going to watch your games even if it's the replays.

From Brett: I'll make sure I play extra well so you'll have something good to watch on replays.

To Brett: Thank you, my "tryout" is tonight so I need to get ready.

From Brett: Good luck

Later that day Quinn, Santana's roommate comes and best friend comes home to see Santana watching yet another Giants game.

"Hey San," Quinn says frowning when she sees sheet music around her.

"Great news, my boss heard me sing and is giving me a shot to sing at the club from seven to ten, Thursday through Sunday nights." Santana excitedly tells her.

"Wow Santana, that's amazing." Quinn says truly happy that her friend's dreams are starting to come true.

"I know, the only bad thing is I'm going to miss some Giants games." Santana says and Quinn jumps on this.

"What is with you being obsessed with watching baseball games? You don't care about sports like me. This has been happening since you sang at that game not that long ago." Quinn asks.

Quinn has been wondering what is up with that for the last two days though she hadn't found the right time to ask. With Santana, Quinn has learned that you have to pick your places well to ask questions otherwise Santana will get very prickly.

"I'm trying to learn about baseball." Santana says biting her lip.

"Why?" Quinn says wondering if Santana is trying not to tell her.

Santana is about to reply when Brett comes up to bat.

"Hold on," she says.

Her eyes are glued to the TV as Brett lays down a bunt to move his teammate to third, he also manages to leg it out to first.

"What were you asking?" Santana asks her eyes never leaving the screen.

"Did you meet someone at the game?" Quinn asks suspecting that she did and most likely it's one of the players.

"Yes, his name is Brett and he's the one on first base." Santana gushes.

"He's hot," Quinn says squinting to see him even better.

"Yeah," Santana sighs.

"I take it he's who you've been texting." Quinn says.

"Yes, go Brett!" Santana shouts as Brett steals second.

Once the inning is over Santana turns her attention to Quinn.

"I was invited into the clubhouse after the game. Brett was waiting for me, having seen me perform the National Anthem. We've been texting ever since. He's amazing and very sweet." Santana gushes.

"That's amazing, I'm so happy for you." Quinn says happy for her best friend.

"He's on the road right now but we've still been texting non-stop and he asked me out to lunch when he gets back." Santana continues to gush.

"Will I get to meet this guy?" Quinn asks.

"Of course," Santana says.

Later that night Quinn goes with Santana to the bar/club to support her.

"Hello everyone," Santana says into the mic. "My name is Santana and I'll be your entertainment for the night. I'll be singing a set of songs, but if anyone has any requests you can write them down and I'll sing them so long as I have the music and know the song." she says. "I'm going to start off the night by singing Breaking Free by Ariana Grande."

'If you want it, take it

I should have said it before

Tried to hide it, fake it

I can't pretend anymore'

'I only want to die alive

Never by the hands of a broken heart

I don't wanna hear you lie tonight

Now that I've become who I really am'

'This is the part when I say I don't want ya

I'm stronger than I've been before

This is the part when I break free

Cause I can't resist it no more'

'This is the part when I say I don't want ya

I'm strong than I've been before

This is the part when I break free

Cause I can't resist it no more'

'You were better, deeper

I was under your spell

Like a deadly fever, yeah, babe

On the highway to hell'

'I only want to die alive

Never by the hands of a broken heart

I don't wanna hear you lie tonight

Now that I've become who I really am'

'This is the part when I say I don't want ya

I'm stronger than I've been before

This is the part when I break free

Cause I can't resist it now more'

'This is the part when I say I don't want ya

I'm stronger than I've been before

This is the part when I break free

Cause I can't resist it no more'

'Thought of your body, I came alive

It was lethal, it was fatal

In my dreams it felt so right

But I woke up every time

Oh baby'

'This is the part when I say I don't want ya

I'm stronger than I've been before

This is the part when I break free

Cause I can't resist it no more'

'This is the part when I say I don't want ya

I'm stronger than I've been before

This is the part when I break free

Cause I can't resist it no more'

When Santana sings the last note, the place erupts with applause. Quinn is giving her the thumbs up and the manager is smiling at her. Santana knows that she now officially has the gig.

"Dude," Jack says throwing a pillow at Brett's head.

"What?" Brett groans trying to turn away to go back to sleep.

He had been texting with Santana until close to four in the morning.

"It's noon man, you were supposed to meet me for lunch downstairs." Jake says staring at his friend who still hasn't gotten out of bed.

"How did you get in?" Brett grumbles throwing his covers off and getting up.

"I sweet talked the maid." Jack says.

"Of course, you did." Brett says rolling his eyes as he throws on a shirt and pair of shorts.

"What were you up to last night that has you so tired? Is it the same reason you've been playing better which I didn't even think was possible these last few games?" Jake asks his best friend.

"None of your business." Brett says heading out of his room.

"Come on, you can tell me if you had a hooker or call girl here. Your single so it's not like you're cheating or anything like that." Jake says assuming his friend is getting some.

Brett punches him in the arm and glares at him not dignifying what he said with a response.

"Okay sorry man, I know you don't need to do that." Jake says sighing.

Brett just shakes his head, smiling. Jake may be off about why he's been playing well and slept in when normally he's up early, but he's just curious.

"Come on man, why have you been playing so well?" Jake asks again.

"You remember that singer from last week that came into the clubhouse after the game." Brett asks.

"Yeah, the hot Latina, right?" Jake says smirking.

Brett shoves him, "Yes, I've been talking to her ever since and we're going out for lunch once we get back." he tells Jake a smile on his face.

"She makes you truly happy doesn't she." Jake says pushing into Brett.

"Yes, she does." Brett says all smiles.

"I'm glad you have someone. Maybe you'll be less of a stick in the mud." Jake jokes.

"Pig," Brett says shoving him.

They head down to get food before they have to show up at the ballpark.
