Hi everyone, thanks for the love last chapter. Sorry for the longer wait, I was lazy last week and didn't get around to typing this chapter up till today. I'll try to post the next chapter faster.

The first week Santana is gone, Brett's numbers start to take a dip. His fielding percentage stays the same but he's not hitting the ball quite as well anymore. He and Quinn hangout with his buddy Jake a lot as both Quinn and Jake are keeping Brett company at Santana's request.

"Have you talked to Santana today?" Jake asks as the three of them head out of the club house.

"Yes, we talked before the game." Brett says.

"You played well." Quinn says as Brett did have a good game.

"Thanks, I was seeing the ball better today." Brett confidently says.

He knows what they are trying to do. He knows his numbers haven't been nearly as good since Santana left. He just misses her so much. Since he met her, he's played better knowing she's watching. With her on tour and time differences, she can't really watch his games.

Quinn and Jake share a look but don't say anything.

"If you two don't mind, I promised San I'd talk to her after the game." Brett says wanting some along time.

"Don't worry Brett, I'll make sure Quinn gets home safe." Jake says nodding to him.

Once Brett leaves the two of them start talking.

"His play is getting worse by the day." Jake tells her.

"It obvious that he's miserable without San here." Quinn adds.

"Yeah, I didn't think it would be this bad though. I thought his numbers might dip, not tank." Jake says.

"Are they really that bad?" Quinn asks.

"Not yet, but the way he's going, he'll end up back in the minors." Jake says.

"You'll warn me if that's really a possibility so I can tell San. She'd hate if that happened because of her." Quinn asks him.

"I will," Jake says.

A week later, Santana is having fun performing but misses Brett a lot the rest of the time. She hasn't really made friends with anyone as she spends all her free time talking to Brett.

'It's only been two weeks and I miss you so much still.' Santana softly says.

'I miss you too.' Brett sadly says.

'I can't wait until you come out.' Santana says.

'I know babe out two and a half months left.' Brett sadly says.

They both miss each other so much and are miserable without each other.

'How did your game go?' Santana hopefully asks.

'Okay, I've played better but it wasn't bad and we won.' Brett tells her.

'That's great,' Santana softly says.

'How was your day?' Brett asks loving to hear about her.

'We traveled all day and just got into our hotel. We'll be here for four days.' Santana says.

They talk for nearly an hour before Santana has to get ready.

'I'll talk to you tomorrow.' Santana says.

'Love you,' Brett says.

'Love you too.' Santana says hanging up.

"Talking to lover boy again." Samantha, Santana's roommate says starting to change.

"Yeah, we both miss each other so much." Santana sighs.

"You should come out with us after the show tonight. It will help you get to know everyone." Samantha says.

"Maybe," Santana says as she's avoided this.

"Just think about it." Samantha says.

"I will," Santana promises.

She thinks that maybe she should try to make friends and going with them after the show will help.

Another week goes by and Santana has started to make friends among the group.

"You coming out again with us tonight." Samantha asks backstage.

"Yeah, you were right that I needed to come out with you all." Santana admits. "My boyfriend agrees too."

"And the girls love when you come out since you're not drinking a lot and can make sure we all get home in one piece." Samantha adds.

"It's fun, hanging out with you all." Santana says.

Later that night a group of ten women are out at a club with Santana. Every time a guy tries to pick up Santana, the other girls steer him away. They all respect that Santana is in a relationship plus they get the guys.

"Come on buddy, she's taken." Samantha says directing a guy away from Santana.

"I don't get why so many guys are always hitting on me." Santana says shaking her head. "You all are hot."

"It's because you sit here nursing a drink a lot especially after we start dancing with guys." Katie tells her.

"Still, I wish they would leave me along. I'm happy with my boyfriend." Santana says.

"Come on the dance floor with me." Katie says chuckling.

Santana ends up dancing with Katie and a couple of the other girls. She has a blast and for a few hours forgets that she misses Brett.

Back in San Francisco, Brett is warming up for the game that night.

"Brett," his hitting coach says nodding to him.

"Coach," Brett says.

"How have you been seeing ball?" his coach asks.

"Good, I think." Brett says a little worried.

"Well, you've been in a bit of a hitting slump these last three weeks. You need to pick it up." the coach says.

"I will coach," Brett promises.

"I don't want to scare you but if you don't start picking it up in the next few weeks, we're going to send you down to the minors." the coach tells him. "I wanted to warn you before anyone else mentioned it to you. We all want you out of the slump and Roy thinks the minor might help you break out."

"Thanks for the warning." Brett says.

Brett is now more worried than he had been before. He knows his play hasn't been good since Santana left, but he hadn't even considered he might be sent down to the major league. It terrifies him that this might happen.

"Fuck!" Brett loudly says.

"What's wrong?" Jake asks coming in.

He had heard that his best friend was coming in earlier.

"Nothing, why are you so early?" Brett asks.

"Because I knew you were coming in early and I wanted to keep you company." Jake says.

"Thanks," Brett says sighing deciding to tell Jake the truth. "If my play doesn't improve soon, they'll send me down to the minors."

"What? They wouldn't, would they?" Jake says shocked as Brett has been one of the best players.

"Just to help me out of my slump." Brett says.

"You know how to do that." Jake points out.

"I won't let San ruin her great opportunity because I'm not playing as well." Brett says. "Promise you won't say anything."

"I promise," Jake reluctantly agrees.

Four days later after Jake hears a coach saying that it might be time to send Brett back to the minors to try and break him out of his slump, Jake decides to call Quinn.

'Jake?' Quinn asks.

'Hi Quinn, I have big news that San needs to hear.' Jake softly says.

'What's wrong?' Quinn asks knowing this has something to do with Brett.

'Brett told me a few days ago that if his play doesn't start improving, he's going to be sent back down to the minors to see if that helps.' Jake tells her.

'They wouldn't,' Quinn gasps not thinking it would be that bad.

'Our hitting coach gave him a heads up so he could try to get out of his slump before getting sent back down to the minors.' Jake tells her.

'Shit, I didn't realize his play had dipped that much.' Quinn says.

'Neither had I until Brett tole me. I've been watching him the last few days and his play really has gone downhill.' Jake says.

'I'll tell Santana, she deserves to know. Thanks for letting me know.' Quinn says.

'You're welcome,' Jake says before hanging up.

Quinn looks at the clock to see if she can call Santana now or should wait. Deciding that this is too important to wait, she calls Santana.

'Quinn? I just finished performing, can I call you back later?' Santana asks.

'It's about Brett.' Quinn says.

'Okay, wait a moment while I find a quiet place to talk.' Santana says making her way around backstage to find an empty room.

It takes her a while, but finally she finds a quiet place.

'I can talk now.' Santana says. 'What's wrong with Brett?' she asks.

'Are you sitting down?' Quinn asks.

'Just spit it out already.' Santana says getting more worried by the second.

'Brett isn't playing well at all and is close to being sent back down to the minors.' Quinn tells her.

'What?! Why didn't you tell me sooner?' Santana shouts.

'I just found out about it from Jake and I called you straight away.' Quinn says.

'Sorry, I jumped down your throat. I'm just so worried about Brett. I knew he was struggling, but not that much.' Santana softly says.

'I know San,' Quinn says. 'He's been really struggling without you. I hate to say this because I don't want you to give up your amazing career opportunity, but Brett needs you here.'

'I'm going to come back. Don't tell Brett, I want to surprise him and it might take me a couple days to settle everything.' Santana says. 'I'll try to get back as soon as possible.'

'Let me know if you need me to do anything.' Quinn says before they hang up.

Santana goes directly to the manager who is watching the concert. She doesn't want to just leave without telling anyone what her plans are.

"Will," Santana loudly says. "Can I talk to you?"

Will nods and leads them to a dressing room. "What do you need to talk about?" he asks.

"My boyfriend is really struggling without me and I feel that I need to go back to be with him. I'm sorry for doing this." Santana says.

"I'll be sad to see you go, but if you feel that you really need to then go with my blessing." Will says. "Touring can be hard and not everyone lasts."

"Thanks so much," Santana says.

"I'll be in contact when I get back in town. You have a lot of promise and I'd love if you'd consider me for your manager." Will says.

"We'll definitely talk about it when you get back in town." Santana says thinking this wasn't a completely wasteful day.

After the performance ends, she says her goodbyes to everyone who are all sad to see her go. They understand though why she's leaving as they've all heard a lot about Brett.

The next morning Santana catches the first flight out.

Brett sighs after another bad game. At this rate they're going to send him down to the minors by the end of the week.

"You didn't play that bad." Santana says causing Brett to look up.

"San?" Brett says wide eyed.

"Hey B," Santana says smiling at him.

Brett closes the distance between them, wrapping his arms around her tightly and kissing her.

"I can't believe you're here." Brett says pulling back slightly to look at her.

"Quinn told me how much trouble you were having. There's no way that I could not come back." Santana softly says.

"You didn't have to come back-"

"B," Santana says stopping him. "I couldn't stay knowing you could be sent down to the minors."

Brett wants to argue but honestly, he's so glad to have her back.

"I'm so glad you're here." Brett says.

"Good because if you weren't I was going to be upset myself." Santana says smiling. "Let's go back to your place."

Brett wraps his arm around her, leading her to his car.

The next day Santana comes to the game and Brett gets her a seat right behind the plate. He wants her really close when he's hitting. Just knowing that she's there watching him causes him to play back to his normal standard. In the field, he makes a few tough catches that he hadn't been making while Santana was away. When up to bat, he goes five for five with two doubles and a home run.

"Great game Brett." the manager says slapping him on the back.

"Thanks," Brett says so glad that he's playing good again.

"Keep that play up and you won't have to worry about going down to the minors." the manager says happy to have his young star back on track, playing well.

Brett's all smiles as he bounds over to Santana causing her to shriek as he picks her up, spinning around.

"You are the best girlfriend ever." Brett says.

"You were great. Does this mean you won't be sent down to the minors?" Santana hopefully asks.

"So long as my play continues like tonight, then yes." Brett says.

"I'll be at every game." Santana promises.

"Thanks for everything." Brett softly says giving her a peck.

Over the next two months, Brett's play drastically improves. He only commits one error in that time frame and makes several very impressive throws and catches. He's hitting .400 during that time with ten home runs. When the regular season comes to end, the Giants have won their division and are in the divisional series.

"We're only here because of you and your selflessness." Brett says kissing Santana after their final regular season game.
