Track 2: Greystark Hall (Doctor Who Series 6 OST)
Track 3: Help is on its Way (Doctor Who Series 6 OST)
Track 4: I Am A Ghost (Doctor Who Series 7 OST)
Scene 1: London
[Track 1] Victorian London. Carol singers greet strangers friendly as snow falls onto the floor. Raggedy children walk about, giving out newspapers. A horse and carriage passes an alleyway, where the TARDIS has just finished materialising. The door opens and the Doctor steps onto the snow, followed by Amy and Rory in big wintry coats.
DOCTOR: Ah, 1892! Christmas. Lovely place. I told you we'd make it.
The area is surrounded by snow, marketplaces and people.
AMY: You understand why I was so critical of us making it here alive?
DOCTOR: You underestimate my piloting skills!
RORY: Bit grungy for Spain.
DOCTOR: Who wants a beach at Christmas? This is way better.
AMY: I do. I hate snow, it gets everywhere.
DOCTOR: Oh, come on! You can't hate snow!
The Doctor starts playing with the snow. Playfully, he makes a snowball and throws it at Amy. However, she is not amused.
DOCTOR: Right, shall we go see the stalls?
AMY: Or...we could always turn around and go someplace hotter?
DOCTOR: Nah. Come on!
The Doctor walks off.
RORY: We better…
AMY: Yep.
They quickly run after him.
Scene 2: Marketplace
The Doctor mingles around a goose stall. A man in a hood who was looking at the geese quickly moves away from the stall and enters a local inn.
DOCTOR: Ooh.
AMY: Don't tell me you are going to buy a goose.
DOCTOR: Even a goose is a piece of history. Call it a souvenir.
The Doctor hands the stall owner some shillings and receives a goose in return. Rory walks over to the Doctor and Amy holding a newspaper.
RORY: Look.
He shows them a newspaper with an article about a recently stolen diamond called the Iranticle Gem.
DOCTOR: What about it? There were plenty of jewel heists in the Victorian era. So very precious to the poor man.
AMY: Looks valuable. Could we-?
DOCTOR: Don't be so silly. This is a part of history, we can't take souvenirs and sell them over eBay! Plus, we'd have to find it first.
AMY: But-
DOCTOR: I'm telling you, we can't interfere with history - This diamond will be found when it's supposed to be found.
He pulls out his sonic and starts scanning around.
RORY: Can't we just, ya know...go?
DOCTOR: Ooh, not good.
AMY: Really? So we're going to Spain?
DOCTOR: Right...Maybe not, very not good.
AMY: Oh! You changed your tune.
DOCTOR: I'm getting readings, very bad readings. Unbelievably not good.
The Doctor walks off. Amy looks at Rory.
RORY: Where's he off to now?
They run after him.
Scene 3: Bridewood Inn
The Doctor walks in, his eyes immediately meeting with a worker.
DOCTOR: Hello, I'm the Doctor. These are my assistants.
GRACE: Hiya. I'm Grace, what can I get ya?
DOCTOR: Information, if you have it. We're looking into the diamond theft - We'd like to ask you some questions.
GRACE: Alright.
The Doctor turns around to speak with Amy and Rory.
DOCTOR: (whispering) Could you please go ask around while I talk with this lady.
AMY: (whispering) Are you sure?
DOCTOR: (whispering) Yep, now go!
The Doctor spins around and straightens his bow tie.
DOCTOR: So? Shall we begin?
Grace nods. He sits down opposite her.
DOCTOR: Let's get straight to it. Has anything strange happened recently?
GRACE: Well, a couple weeks back I saw a man, or woman, dressed in all black who went up to the old West Manor. I thought it was strange because that place has been abandoned for years.
DOCTOR: Old West Manor? Where is that?
GRACE: Everybody knows where the West Manor is.
DOCTOR: Well, we're out of town investigators.
GRACE: Oh, well, the Manor is easy to find. I could show you on the town's map.
DOCTOR: Thank you.
Grace gets up from the chair and walks off. The Doctor notices someone watching them as Amy and Rory walk up besides him.
AMY: That guy over there didn't seem too pleased to talk to us. He kept his face covered by a hood - Something's suspicious about him.
DOCTOR: Well I asked Grace some questions - well one question, but that one question got us a lead.
Grace returns with a map of the area.
GRACE: 'Ere.
She places it on the table.
GRACE: This is where we are, and there's the Manor.
Grace points the Manor out on the map.
RORY: Doctor?
The man watching them starts to walk towards them. Suddenly, he pushes Amy and runs out of the building.
RORY: Amy!
AMY: He knew we were onto him. Let's go!
Rory chases after him.
DOCTOR Thanks for your help!
GRACE: Anything to help out the police. Is that goose a prize if you find that thief?
DOCTOR: Happy Christmas!
The Doctor bursts out of the inn with Amy to follow Rory, grabbing the map and the goose.
Scene 4: Marketplace
The Doctor and Amy catch up to Rory, who is on the floor, with a cut on his head.
AMY: Rory! Are you alright?
RORY: Oh, my head…
DOCTOR: Our thief had a glass bottle.
The Doctor observes the shards of glass.
DOCTOR: He knows what he's doing. I think we're dealing with a professional. What would he want with a Victorian jewel? And how can we find him again?
The Doctor looks to the busy crowds once more.
ROLL TITLES
Scene 5: West Manor Entrance
[Track 2] Pan across the snow filled windows - until reaching the front door. A green glow shines through the front door's key-hole, it clicks and opens. Amy and Rory shake off the bad weather and take their coats off, whilst the Doctor lightly brushes a few specks off his tweed jacket.
AMY: So, the lady at the inn said that a man went up here?
DOCTOR: Apparently so, yes. And…
The Doctor flings his sonic forward - extending it as he does.
DOCTOR: Yep, this is the place. This is where the readings originate from.
RORY: I'm feeling kind of creeped out. Is anyone else feeling kind of creeped out?
DOCTOR: Nah, this is nothing!
The Doctor jumps as a storm rumbles outside. Amy raises an eyebrow.
AMY: Really?
DOCTOR: Shush! I'm not scared, you're scared. Right, we'll split up - cover more ground.
RORY: Do we have to? Isn't the number one rule not to split up in horror movies?
DOCTOR: We're not in a horror movie. Don't say things like that.
The Doctor runs up the stairs in the middle of the room - goose still in hand.
AMY: Are you seriously going to keep that with you?
DOCTOR: Well, unfortunately I can't put it in a carrier bag - so I have to carry it! Back to the objective. I'll handle upstairs, you take downstairs.
AMY: Fine - but be careful, something's up with this place.
DOCTOR: I'm always careful. When am I not?
The Doctor hesitates.
DOCTOR: ...Don't answer that.
The Doctor walks on.
Scene 6: Kitchen
Amy and Rory both enter the kitchen. They check drawers and cupboards.
RORY: Nice kitchen. And cutlery.
Rory waves a fancy plate around.
AMY: Put it down, you'll break something.
Scene 7: Bedroom
The Doctor creeps around the hallways until entering a bedroom - he throws his goose on the bed.
DOCTOR: Hello?
He looks around the empty, luxurious bedroom.
DOCTOR: Anyone home?
Suddenly the door to the bedroom slams shut and clicks - locking.
DOCTOR: No! No, no!
The Doctor bangs on the door.
Scene 8: Kitchen
A loud crashing sound comes from the basement.
AMY: Did you hear that?
RORY: Yeah.
Amy slowly approaches toward the basement door, Rory quickly goes after her.
Scene 9: Basement
Amy uses her phone as a flashlight as she leads her husband down the stairs.
AMY: We should definitely get the Doctor.
RORY: There is no point in getting him for possibly nothing.
AMY: Okay, okay. But if there is any sign of danger, we get him straight away-
Suddenly a cloaked figure emerges at the bottom of the stairway. Rory bumps into Amy as she stops mid-walking down the stairs, dropping her phone. The cloaked figure picks it up and turns it off.
HARMON: Why are you here?
AMY: We...
RORY: Got lost, we were looking for some help when we stumbled down here.
HARMON: Yes. I can help you. Come, come.
The cloaked man runs across the basement floor into the darkness.
AMY: We should get the Doctor now.
RORY: Y-yeah.
As the two turn around the door to the basement closes - leaving the entire room in darkness.
Scene 10: Bedroom
The Doctor is sonicing the locked door.
DOCTOR: Wood! I really need a wood setting! Why haven't I done that yet?
The Doctor sits on the bed and pats his dead goose.
DOCTOR: Have you seen a diamond around here? Or a person who enjoys hitting people with bottles? Suppose not - actually, I suppose you don't see much anymore.
He frowns before quickly jumping up.
DOCTOR: Going to cut that chat short - I need a way out.
The Doctor starts looking through drawers and cabinets.
DOCTOR: There has to be something - like a key? Or...
Scene 11: Basement
The basement light flickers on to reveal a room cluttered with junk and a tray with an old pistol on it off to the side.
HARMON: You should have stayed away.
The cloaked man stands in front of Amy and Rory - who are chained up to the wall. His face is shadowed.
AMY: Rory!
Rory wakes up.
RORY: Wha-what happened?
HARMON: You looked into something that was nothing to do with you. Now, you will face the consequences.
Harmon walks over to the gun.
HARMON: I didn't want to harm you but I can't let this get out. I'm sorry.
Scene 12: Bedroom
The Doctor finishes checking the drawers and around the room.
DOCTOR: Nothing - I wonder if we are just wandering around this mansion based off of nothing?
He leans back on the bed next to the goose.
DOCTOR: What do you think? Is this all just for nothing? Also where are Amy and Rory - surely they'd be looking for me by now?
The Doctor looks at the goose and is blinded for a moment by a twinkle.
DOCTOR: Ow - Ooh!
The Doctor opens up the goose's mouth.
DOCTOR: This is going to be really uncomfortable.
He pulls the Iranticle Gem from the goose's neck.
DOCTOR: You beauty. How did you get in my goose?
The Doctor gets up.
DOCTOR: Think, Doctor, Think. So - a diamond in a goose's neck, why? Why in a goose's neck?
He paces around.
DOCTOR: Maybe it isn't supposed to make sense? Nah, that's stupid. There has to be some kind of a reason. Let me think...
The Doctor kneels down in front of the goose.
DOCTOR: We ask questions at the inn about the recent diamond theft. A man nearby pushes Amy and hits Rory with a bottle. So, he is obviously the one who stole the diamond. But why is it in my goose? A good place to hide it - or...or! Back at the stall, a man in a hood was looking at the geese and left as soon as we arrived. He could have put it in one of the geese, for safe measure. Came back and it was gone. So, he made sure he lured us in. And that's why the sonic was picking up readings - the diamond was actually in my hand the entire time. Huh.
Scene 13: Basement
[Track 3] Harmon picks up the gun and approaches Amy.
AMY: No - don't you dare!
RORY: Leave her alone!
HARMON: Don't make this difficult! You- you have to die, or you will tell the police of me!
RORY: We don't have to die! You can let us go, we won't tell a soul!
Harmon clutches at his head.
HARMON: You will - that's why I had to attack you. I need that goose.
RORY: That was you? Wait - for a goose?
HARMON: You see! You know too much!
He pulls down his hood to reveal a disfigured horrific face.
HARMON: I was nothing. I avoid the police, for fear. But soon I will show to the world that I am more than nothing.
Harmon raises the gun and points it at Amy.
AMY: No! You can't!
RORY: Don't do anything to her! Take me, not her!
AMY: No! Don't touch him, don't be a moron!
HARMON: I - I'm sorry.
He goes to pull the trigger when a loud smashing sound comes from above.
HARMON: The man. He must have gotten out. If he tells the police-!
Harmon quickly runs up the basement steps.
Scene 14: Bedroom
The Doctor throws a chair through the bedroom window, letting in the snowy weather.
DOCTOR: Mr Goose? This isn't the end. I'll be back for you!
He climbs out of the window and crawls down the manor's exterior using overgrown vines.
Scene 15: West Manor Entrance
The Doctor runs through the entrance - his shoes and legs dirty with snow.
DOCTOR: (yelling) Amy?! Rory!?
His attention moves to the basement door as it opens and Harmon comes running out holding his handgun.
DOCTOR: Ah, hello. I'm the Doctor.
HARMON: W-why didn't you just stay in the bedroom?
Harmon grabs at his head.
DOCTOR: What's wrong?
HARMON: Please, don't make this harder.
He raises his gun.
DOCTOR: It's alright - no need to fire. Don't you want to sit down, have a talk about the diamond?
HARMON: What? How do you know about that?
Harmon looks around nervously.
DOCTOR: Don't worry - I haven't told the police. Not yet anyway.
HARMON: What do you want?
DOCTOR: I want to talk. That's all. Just to talk.
Harmon hesitates but then points at a nearby door with his gun.
HARMON: The lounge.
DOCTOR: Sure - The lounge. Let's get comfortable. How about the gun stays out here?
HARMON: No! Into the lounge!
The Doctor enters the lounge first, followed by Harmon.
Scene 16: Basement
Amy is using a hair clip on the chains lock in an attempt to free herself and her husband.
RORY: I'm sorry.
AMY: Why'd you try to let him kill you, ya idiot?
RORY: He was going to kill you!
AMY: I- I don't want you to sacrifice yourself for me. You've done a lot for me already. A lot more than I've done for you. I don't want to live without you.
RORY: Yeah, hopefully as old people.
AMY: Yeah.
They both chuckle as the lock clicks.
AMY: Gotcha!
Amy and Rory are freed.
RORY: What now?
AMY: We get out of this basement and save the Doctor!
RORY: How do we know he needs saving?
AMY: He always needs saving!
Scene 17: Lounge
The Doctor enters - he sits down in front of an unlit fire.
DOCTOR: Cosy in here.
Harmon looks out of the large snow covered windows.
DOCTOR: I assume you stole the diamond because of - well, because of your looks?
HARMON: You don't understand. I have lived on the streets for years - I was attacked and insulted. I had enough of it - I saw a diamond had been put up in the local museum. I've never been in trouble with the police. A-and I don't want to be!
DOCTOR: You just wanted people to treat you normally? But you knew that wasn't going to happen - so you stole their precious diamond.
HARMON: Yes.
DOCTOR: Ooh. But, you got nervous when you saw people hanging around you and hid it in a goose's neck. And I bought that goose. So, you came up with the genius idea of attacking my friend - you knew we'd come after you then. And with the goose too? I mean that's one wild assumption.
HARMON: The girl said you were investigators at the inn.
DOCTOR: Ah, yes. Investigators who wouldn't have time to take a freshly bought goose home.
HARMON: N-now I have no choice but to kill you.
DOCTOR: Yes. I suppose you have no choice. But, you do have a choice. You have a lot of choices. Choice 1? Just throw the gun-
Suddenly Amy and Rory come bursting through the door. Harmon points the gun at them.
DOCTOR: No!
The Doctor gets up and gestures for the couple to stop.
DOCTOR: Just hold on! Please! Just, think.
HARMON: You - you can't get away!
DOCTOR: Once you pull that trigger, that's it! You go to prison. Forever! And prison won't be the worst thing. The worst thing will be your conscience! So, please. Just put the gun down and we'll figure this whole thing out.
Harmon lowers the gun a bit.
HARMON: I…No! I'm sorry, but I can't.
He raises the gun again.
AMY: Doctor, I don't think he's listening…
DOCTOR: No! Please, no. If you want people to respect you for who you are, and have a little Christmas spirit, just put the gun down!
Amy grabs Rory's hand. Harmon looks at the two with fear and sadness lingering in his eyes.
HARMON: I-I'm so sorry.
He drops the gun and backs away.
DOCTOR: Thank you! Thank you - so very much. Are you okay?
AMY: We're fine.
Harmon suddenly breaks down in tears and hugs the Doctor.
Scene 18: West Manor Entrance
The Doctor, Amy and Rory are talking with each other.
AMY: So, when are they getting here?
DOCTOR: Who?
AMY: The police?
DOCTOR: Hm? Oh, they're not coming.
RORY: What?! We can't just let him get away with it.
DOCTOR: He's clearly not bad. He would have shot you both dead if he was.
RORY: But he stole a diamond!
DOCTOR: Out of anger. Sometimes people make mistakes because of other people's actions to them. It's not that I agree with it but I'm giving him a chance. It's Christmas, it's a time for second chances.
AMY: I think you're right.
RORY: Yeah - I suppose so.
DOCTOR: I'm always right! Well, most of the time I am. Shall we go tell him the news?
Scene 19: Lounge
[Track 4] The Doctor and his companions enter the room. Harmon is sitting in front of the now-lit fire, his hands shaking nervously.
DOCTOR: Harmon?
HARMON: Oh. A-are the officers on their way?
DOCTOR: Nope.
HARMON: What? Why?
DOCTOR: Everybody makes mistakes.
The Doctor takes the diamond out of his tweed jacket.
DOCTOR: I'll return this to the police.
HARMON: What do I do now?
DOCTOR: I don't know - leave the country. Go somewhere nice. Where nobody will judge you - and before you say there isn't such a place out there, there is. You just need to find it.
HARMON: Why would you do this for me?
DOCTOR: Let's just call it a bit of Christmas cheer.
HARMON: Thank you, sir. I have misjudged you.
DOCTOR: Ah - the Doctor will do. I don't like sirs.
HARMON: Thank you - Doctor.
The Doctor smiles.
DOCTOR: You better get out of this house before the police come and look into it. Someone did still see a mysterious person hanging around here.
HARMON: Of course.
Scene 20: Manor Drive
The Doctor, Amy and Rory walk out into the snowy weather.
AMY: Do you not get cold?
DOCTOR: Sometimes my nose gets cold. I hate it when that happens.
Amy and Rory chuckle.
RORY: What about Harmon?
DOCTOR: Oh, I'll have to look in the history books. I'm sure he becomes very popular.
AMY: We are definitely returning the diamond then?
DOCTOR: I told you - no stealing!
AMY: Aw, c'mon!
DOCTOR: We can't steal a diamond! Especially one from 1892!
AMY: How about one in the future?
DOCTOR: C'mon, Ponds!
The Doctor walks off.
RORY: Rules are rules, Amy.
AMY: Where's the fun in rules if you can't break them?
They run after the Doctor.
Scene 21: Marketplace
The Doctor and his friends walk past the packing up stalls.
DOCTOR: Aw, my goose! I left it in the mansion!
AMY: We are not walking back up there.
DOCTOR: But - oh, nevermind. Oi!
The Doctor runs up to a nearby officer.
OFFICER: Problem, sir?
DOCTOR: Catch.
He tosses the diamond over to the policeman.
OFFICER: What is this?!
DOCTOR: The Iranticle Gem - stolen from the local museum. Merry Christmas!
The Doctor runs off leaving the Officer glaring at it in confusion. As he looks back up to see the man who gave it to him, he realises they've disappeared.
OFFICER: ...Huh.
Scene 22: Alleyway
The Doctor walks up to the TARDIS, which is now covered in snow. Posters are stuck onto the box.
DOCTOR: Why do people keep putting things on you?
He pulls a flyer off of the police box as the Ponds catch up to him.
AMY: I wish you'd stop running off. You're lucky that policeman didn't come after you.
DOCTOR: I bamboozled him with the diamond. He'll be standing there for a some time yet.
RORY: Right.
DOCTOR: So, where next?
AMY: Spain! I'm sick of the snow!
DOCTOR: Nah, I much prefer snow over warm weather.
Amy rolls her eyes as she enters the TARDIS.
AMY: We're going!
DOCTOR: Fine! But I won't like it!
RORY: So, Spain it is then?
DOCTOR: Yep.
Rory pats the Doctor's shoulder before entering the TARDIS. The Doctor looks around at the snow covered street and Christmas carollers singing - he smiles before entering the Police Box himself. After a moment the TARDIS dematerialises. Harmon watches from afar, he smiles to himself and runs off into the night.
