Scene 1: London
[Track 1: The Company] Smoke billows out of factory chimneys and off the soaked streets. Horses tail past, lugging taxis behind them. Rain pours down onto the civilians, who are walking through the bleakness of the mist. A single pipe blurts out a large mass of steam. The ground surrounding Paddington Station is covered in rocks and sawdust. Pan down to the floor, and underneath, where...

Scene 2: Tunnel
Miners are tunneling through under a narrow ceiling. The miners are a mix of young boys and men. One of those young boys glances down and notices something metal; from the look on his face, it is obvious that he cannot tell what it is.

BEN: Hey! What is that?

HOWARD: No idea.

He picks it up and puts it in a box with other relics the miners have found.

HOWARD: Come on, keep working.

As the miners crawl back down into the small and unstable tunnel, the box lights up. It slowly moves towards the edge of the table and falls off. The box shatters into splinters of wood on the rock floor and something inside it scurries off in a blur. Howard looks back and notices the broken box.

HOWARD: Hey! Who dropped the box? There's some valuable stuff in here!

He starts to pick up the shards, and cuts his hands on one of the sharp rocks.

HOWARD: Aagh!

He stares at the gash in his hand.

BEN (oc): Boss! Boss!

Still nursing his hands, he walks over to a small hole, where a beam of light shines through.

HOWARD: What is it?

BEN: I don't know. Should we get some dynamite-?

HOWARD: And bring the whole place down? Don't be stupid. Make a bigger hole.

The miners carve a hole. The light emerges from the centre of a metal door. Wires stick out of the door, attached to different buttons and lamps. The miners gave a good look at the door and the many wires.

BEN: What do you think those buttons do?

HOWARD: I dunno. You three, come with me inside. The rest of you, go and contact someone, keep the tunnel clear.

The miners all clamber out, save four of them. One of the miners starts to fiddle with the wires, and the door slides open.

Scene 3: Cybership
They enter a circular room, decorated with stasis chambers full of Cybermen, their bodies chopped and peeling off in some places. Blood and bones are sticking out. In the centre, a terminal stands there, but damaged. Sparks occasionally fly out, hitting the dangerous live wires dangling from the ceiling. A miner walks over to the terminal and presses a button.

HOWARD: No, don't-!

The lights switch on, and the door slides shut. They run back.

LEONARD: I can't open it!

HOWARD: Hello? Can you hear me?!

A monotone voice echoes around the ship.

CYBERPLANNER: You have reawakened us. Now you will be repaid. You shall be like us.

[Track 1 ends] A Cybermat slithers over to the miner who is gushing blood from his hand.

HOWARD: Get away from me!

One of the Cybermen climbs out of the chamber. It's repressed heart can be seen through the mechanical exoskeleton.

CYBERMEN: You are hurt. You will be repaired. You will be like us.

The miners scream.

ROLL TITLES

Scene 4: TARDIS
The Doctor is throwing levers about, his jacket crumpled up in a ball on the leather chair, showing off his red bow tie and braces.

DOCTOR: Haven't done this in a long time!

A scraping sound booms from the console, forcing Amy and Rory to cover their ears.

AMY: Whatever it is you're doing, perhaps it could be a bit quieter?

DOCTOR: Time jump. Staying in roughly the same place, but moving in time.

RORY: So we're still in London? After the Medieval period?

DOCTOR: Yup!

AMY: I still can't believe they thought I was a witch.

RORY: It didn't really help you were wearing a witch's hat.

AMY: It was in the fancy dress box.

A descending tone emanating from the console results in a tremendous crash, throwing the three to the floor. They get to their feet slowly.

AMY: Okay… What was that?

The Doctor presses a few buttons and reads the scanner.

DOCTOR: Void spot. We just bounced right off one. It shouldn't be around here though, there's been a shift in the temporal activity, the artron excess has spiked, its range is massive.

RORY: When you're finished, perhaps you could actually explain.

DOCTOR: Think of it like a tear, a big tear. Something is making that tear bigger!

AMY: If it's a tear, shouldn't we be able to go straight through it?

DOCTOR: Fine, it's not a tear, that was a bad analogy! Uh, 1863. Right on time.

The Doctor pulls the handbrake and grabs his tweed blazer.

Scene 5: Tunnel
[Track 2: Mysteries (Music 12)] The three exit the box and look around.

RORY: Where are we?

DOCTOR: London Underground.

Amy touches one of the wooden beams.

AMY: Look at these supports, it's not finished.

DOCTOR: Train tunnel in 1863, not finished...Paddington Station! One of the earliest underground stations! Oh, beautiful!

AMY: It's deserted.

DOCTOR: Still beautiful, don't you think?

AMY: I don't like it.

DOCTOR: Oh… of course you don't. Humans don't like things until those things are loud and full to the brim with people. Perhaps we should go find someone, then, hadn't we?

They walk along the tracks.

RORY: Hang on - is it safe?

DOCTOR: Sure it is! Well, I'm sort of sure it is…Semi-sure it is. Fifty percent sure.

Rory uneasily follows them onwards.

CUT TO:

Four miners dawdle through the tunnel, wearing ropes. They're drenched in dirt. A small kid walks ahead of the others.

BEN: I think I can hear something.

They hurry on.

CUT TO:

DOCTOR: Hellooo?

AMY: Hey, over here!

They notice Amy has found a few tools.

AMY: They were here earlier.

RORY: Lunch break? Night time?

The Doctor steps on the scraps of the broken box.

DOCTOR: Oop- What's this?

AMY: Did you just break that?

DOCTOR: What? No, it's been there a while. There's...there's blood on it, looks like there could've been some sort of fight here.

WILLIAM: Oi!

Four miners run over. The Doctor suddenly throws his hands in the air, flicking his hair back.

DAN: How the heck did you get down here?

DOCTOR: Um, that way?

The Doctor points in the direction of the TARDIS.

DAN: I'll go check, there might be a hole or something. We don't want more civilians down here.

Dan walks off.

WILLIAM: Who are you?

DOCTOR: Health and safety. Or is that a bit early?

AMY: Where is everyone?

BEN: Evacuated, ain't they? Until our boss says otherwise.

RORY: Your boss? How old are you?

BEN: Twelve, why?

RORY: They let you work here at twelve?

DOCTOR: Small, cheap labour. Who is your boss?

WILLIAM: Howard Willis. He went to look at something we found in the rock, and he cleared us all out. That was five hours ago, we've come to find out where he is.

BEN: Through there.

He gestures to the spaceship door.

DOCTOR: That's not contemporary, is it? Who's up for a little peek inside, hm?

The Doctor sonics the door, and the door opens as the clamps release around it.

DOCTOR: Dibs going first.

The Doctor lowers his head as he enters the spaceship. [Track 2 ends]

Scene 6: Cybership
[Track 3: There Is No Clara Oswald] The others walk in. The Doctor is aghast to see the Cybermen in stasis.

RORY: Cybermen! What are they doing here?

They look to the floor, where a blood trail has been dragged along to the conversion chamber at the other side of the room.

DOCTOR: Those miners who came in here, they're not coming out as the same people. They've been converted into Cybermen.

DAVE: I beg your pardon?

DOCTOR: The things in these pods.

AMY: Where've they gone, then? Surely they didn't go into stasis.

DOCTOR: No, no, no, no- where's the other one?

RORY: What?

DOCTOR: There were four of you. He went to...he's gone further into the tunnel.

DAVE: We've not gone that far in that way, he should be back.

Footsteps are heard from outside. Three Cybermen enter with an unconscious Dan being dragged along behind them. However, their suit is rusted and handlebars bent. For one of the Cybermen, one eye is sealed shut and a crack runs down the faceplate. Another has blood soaking its hand. Wires pump around the body.

CYBERMAN: Intruders detected.

WILLIAM: What is that?!

CYBERMAN 2: They have not been upgraded. You must be upgraded.

DOCTOR: No, thanks, we're good.

CYBERMAN: Upgrading is compulsory. You shall be saved.

WILLIAM: Can someone explain what is going on?

CYBERMAN: We are the next level of humanity.

CYBERMAN 2: Reawaken the others.

One of the Cybermen walks over to the terminal and presses a button.

DOCTOR: Your friends have been turned into these.

The stasis pod doors slide open, and the Cybermen climb out slowly. [Track 3 ends]

CYBERMAN 3: We survive.

CYBERPLANNER: Hold them!

[Track 4: Can't Win] The Cybermen grab the Doctor, Amy, Rory and the miners. Ben wriggles out of their grasp and pushes one over. Another one holds him firmly.

CYBERPLANNER: This one shows strength. He shall be designated Cyberplanner.

BEN: Get off! Get off me!

DOCTOR: No, he's just a child!

CYBERPLANNER: Children are not necessary. I have been an idea for too long. I will have a form once more.

Ben is put into the conversion chamber.

DOCTOR: Please! Put me in the chamber instead, just don't hurt him!

BEN: Help me, please for the love of god!

RORY: Don't do this!

Electricity surges across Ben's body. His eyes are wide, as is his mouth which is screaming in agony.

DOCTOR: Stop this, leave him alone!

Ben goes limp. [Track 4 ends] Drills start to attach pieces of metal to his limbs and into his brain. Amy looks disgusted as the smoke clears, and Ben steps out. His arms and legs have been augmented and are covered in Cyber armour, and the handles emerge from his head, as well as part of the helmet. He speaks in a clear, human dialect.

CYBERPLANNER: The augmentation is not complete. What is the issue?

CYBERMAN: Sudden power fluctuations.

CYBERPLANNER: This is your doing.

The Cyberplanner walks over to the Doctor.

DOCTOR: Cyberplanner! Nice to see you again, smaller than I remember. You're not looking too good, you're a bit young. What are you doing here?

CYBERPLANNER: The Elite planned for us to control the people of Earth. With the failure of our systems, the plan has reverted to the fundament, convert all.

DOCTOR: Busy schedule, eh? Why don't you get out of that child's head, huh? Do us all a favour.

[Track 5: Cybermen vs Raston Robot]

CYBERPLANNER: Children are not necessary, as I said. I'm more powerful than ever before. I shall activate the Generation Stratagem.

The Cyberplanner walks towards the terminal.

CYBERPLANNER: Labour is required for the Stratagem. Take them for conversion.

The Cybermen drag Dave and put him into the conversion unit. The others break free and run out.

DOCTOR: Come on, let's go!

CYBERPLANNER: They are good stock, they cannot be wasted!

Two of the Cybermen follow.

Scene 7: Tunnel
The team run through.

WILLIAM: We can't just leave Dave!

DOCTOR: What's your name again?

WILLIAM: Will.

DOCTOR: Will, Dave's gone already. Sorry.

The Cybermen are behind them.

DOCTOR: Run! Go, go, go!

They continue to run through the tunnel.

RORY: Back to the TARDIS?

DOCTOR: Not a bad plan!

WILL: No, we need to call the Army.

DOCTOR: The Army? Are you insane?

WILL: No, I'm not insane! Did you see what just happened?

DOCTOR: Yeah, that's kinda why I'm keen not to get the Army involved.

WILL: Okay, first, why do you seem so calm about this? And two, the army is more able to deal with it than us! We're just miners!

DOCTOR: You are, I've faced them before. They'll be back here in the future and they'll be beaten by me.

WILL: How do you know that?

DOCTOR: Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff. Just trust me, okay?

WILL: Tiny whiny what?

RORY: Does this really matter right now?

DOCTOR: We need to shake the Cybermen off us before we can go to the TARDIS.

RORY: Well, yeah, obviou-

DOCTOR: Get down!

They all dive to the floor as more five Cybermen emerge from the tunnel - Mondasian Cybermen.

MCYBERMAN: Where are we?

MCYBERMAN 2: I do not understand.

CYBERMAN: The Generation Stratagem has begun. You are Cyberform.

MCYBERMAN: Identify yourself.

CYBERMAN 2: We are Cybermen.

MCYBERMAN 3: That designation is false. We are known as Cybermen. You are imposters. You shall be apprehended.

Suddenly, more cybermen emerge from the tunnel. This time these Cybermen are from the Flood.

FCYBERMAN: No, you shall be apprehended. We are Cybermen.

CYBERMAN: We are all Cybermen.

Finally, 80s Cybermen walk in.

80CYBMERMAN: Surrender immediately. We are here for your salvation.

The Doctor, Amy, and Rory watch, puzzled as they witness the many Cybermen converse. Will is both confused and scared. The group then sneaks away for a better and more hidden position while the Cybermen are distracted.

CYBERMAN: All Cybermen must come with us to be briefed!

All of the non-present day Cybermen look around at each other's faces in silence and then proceed to march behind the present cybermen.

DOCTOR: The Generation Stratagem. That's the reason behind this.

AMY: Behind what?

DOCTOR: The sudden power fluctuations, the growth in the void spot. The Cybermen are bringing their past into the future. But why?

RORY: They can't have started it already, could they? They were talking about it just a minute ago.

DOCTOR: There's temporal instability. The future's going to call them to the wrong time. I think there's more Cybermen here, hence the rocky landing.

WILL: I don't understand any of this!

DOCTOR: Sshhh! Rory, go with Will, make sure that everyone stays away from the station. We can't let the Cybermen convert anyone here.

Rory and Will run off.

AMY: What are we going to do?

DOCTOR: Find the TARDIS, get a couple things to push them back to their own time and seal up the rift.

AMY: What are we waiting for?

The Doctor leads Amy away. [Track 5 ends]

Scene 8: Cybership
The Cyberplanner looks to the other Cybermen.

CYBERPLANNER: You have all been validated as past versions of ourselves. Now that you have all been confirmed, we shall inform you that you have all been summoned for the common purpose of joining us in the conquering of Earth. We must have the Ultimatum. The Generation Stratagem has begun.

He gives the faint hint of a smile.

Scene 9: Tunnel
Rory and Will dash out of the tunnel and outside.

Scene 10: Station
The station is very busy.

WILL: Everyone, listen to me! Everyone-oh, it's too loud.

Rory runs and grabs a basic megaphone.

RORY: Catch!

Will catches it and yells.

WILL: Everybody, we must evacuate! There is an emergency!

WORKER: What? Don't get everyone scared, just tell us what's going on!

Will thinks for a moment.

WILL: We have discovered a hazard in the tunnels! They have caused the ground to weaken! This area is hazardous! I repeat, it is hazardous! It is only a matter of time before it collapses! Everyone, out, out, out!

The worker runs to an alarm and starts to power it, spinning it round. Within moments of the blaring sound, construction workers begin to run off the construction site in fear and panic.

WILL: Hah, wow, can't believe that actually worked.

RORY: There aren't anymore miners in the tunnels, right?

WILL: No, they got evacuated, remember?

RORY: Ah, right!

The ground shakes.

WILL: What now? Those silver things are gonna kill us all, aren't they?

RORY: Calm down, they're not going to kill us. We've got a plan.

Will takes deep breaths and looks at Rory with a death stare.

WILL: I hope you do.

RORY: We do. Let's go help everyone get away.

Scene 11: Tunnel
[Track 6: The Castellan Accused/Cybermen III] The Doctor and Amy sneak through. Two 80s Cybermen are patrolling the tunnel.

DOCTOR: Side!

They hide in an alcove. The Cybermen pass them.

DOCTOR: The TARDIS is just down here.

The 80s Cybermen patrolling the tunnel turn around, suspicious of noise.

AMY: For God's sake, Doctor! What you whispering so loudly for?

DOCTOR: Right, sorry about that. When I say run, run!

AMY: Why don't we just run now?

DOCTOR: Good idea!

Amy and the Doctor dash towards the TARDIS.

80CYBERMAN: Stop! Destroy them!

The two Cybermen raise their arms.

DOCTOR: Not on my watch!

The Cybermen both fire and miss.

DOCTOR: Hah!

Amy successfully makes it into the TARDIS, followed by the Doctor. [Track 6 ends]

Scene 12: TARDIS
The Doctor props himself up against the door with his arms outstretched.

DOCTOR: Phew, that was a close one. Now, where were we? Ah, right, how to defeat the Cybermen.

[Track 7: The Perfect Prison 0:00-0:40] The Doctor runs up to the console and spins around to Amy.

Ah, right, so. Here's the plan! The reason for all these different versions of the Cybermen being here is that there is a beacon, and it is most definitely in that ship. I think that maybe… just maybe if we can somehow retrieve that beacon, we can throw it into the void spot and all the cybermen will get attracted to it and... BOOM!

Amy goes silent for a moment.

AMY: Boom? Do they explode?

DOCTOR: No, "boom"… as in… the interjection. You know… as in "Boom! That's it"?

Amy and the Doctor awkwardly and silently stare at each other.

DOCTOR: You know what I mean. Anyway, so the Cybermen will get attracted to the beacon, which is in the void, and boom, they will go into the void and be gone. Mission accomplished!

AMY: Okay, I think I get it.

DOCTOR: Fantastic! I just need to make something to enhance the beacon so they can't help but be drawn to it and off we go.

He grins. [Track 7 ends]

Scene 13: Cybership
Various Cybermen are walking around the hub of the ship. Pieces of scrap metal are all around the ship. Cybermats are busy at work. Some cybermen can be seen screwing together some metal. One fiddles with a luminous blue object.

CYBERPLANNER: The Ultimatum will be worth it. Trust us.

80CYBERLEADER: This does not constitute any worth to us. We must conquer the Earth first.

MCYBERMAN: We agree with them. The peoples of Earth will be saved.

CYBERPLANNER: If we can convert them into the Ultimatum, they shall be the best we have ever seen.

MCYBERMAN2: You have used our blast pattern for the weaponry built into the arm. Why? It is clearly insignificant.

CYBERPLANNER: Only against the superior versions of your future. It can kill those we want to.

FCYBERMAN: We shall prepare for the Invasion.

CYBERPLANNER: Stop, STOP! We are NOT INVADING NOW!

80CYBERLEADER: You show signs of emotion.

CYBERMAN: Emotion is weakness.

CYBERPLANNER: My conversion wasn't complete. I have the necessary resources required to be an efficient Cyberplanner. Get back to work.

80CYBERLEADER: We outnumber you, Planner. We shall invade now.

The Cyberplanner looks around.

Scene 14: Tunnel
The Doctor looks out.

DOCTOR: Coast is clear.

Amy and the Doctor sneak along, and look around the corner.

DOCTOR: It's starting…

[Track 8: The March of the Cybermen 0:41-4:13] The Cybermen are marching out of the ship - the 80s Cybermen are leading, followed by the Flood Cybermen, then the Mondasians, then the present ones bringing up the rear.

DOCTOR: We need to warn Rory.

AMY: On it!

Amy takes out her phone.

Scene 15: Station
Rory listens to his phone.

RORY: Okay, I understand.

He hangs up and turns to Will, who is hurriedly walking over to him.

RORY: They're on their way. Is everyone out?

WILL: I think so.

RORY: Then we've got to stop them from getting out of this station.

WILL: I've got a few ideas.

Will looks up.

Scene 16: Tunnel
The Cybermen continue to march through.

CUT TO:

The Doctor peers through the door to the Cybership.

DOCTOR: I'm counting 5, 6 Cybermen...12 Cybermats and one Cyberplanner.

AMY: You were right, the beacon is heavily guarded. How are we getting past them all?

DOCTOR: Think, think, think...the power fluctuations! One big one will draw the Cybermats out, and then we can use them against the Cybermen!

AMY: Can you do that?

DOCTOR: Obviously, the question is, are you ready?

AMY: Obviously.

They both smile, and the Doctor grabs his sonic.

Scene 17: Station
The Cybermen all start to emerge from the tunnels.

FCYBERMAN 2: The humans have evacuated.

80CYBERLEADER: Then we shall find them.

A small crane springs to life, with a large crate in its claw. Rory is in the cockpit, and he swings it round to hit some of the Cybermen.

RORY: Hah!

MCYBERMAN: We are under attack!

80CYBERLEADER: Destroy that tower!

The 80s Cybermen fire at the crane, but there is not much damage.

FCYBERMAN: Weapons are low on power!

80CYBERLEADER: Take out the tower operator!

The Cybermen march towards the crane. Rory looks down.

RORY: Come on, Will, don't let me down!

He gulps.

Scene 18: Cybership
The Cybermen work.

CYBERPLANNER: We've updated the suit density to survive underwater.

The power shuts off.

CYBERMAN: We have lost all power cells.

CYBERPLANNER: Send out the mats to drain more power.

The Cybermats all scuttle away.

Scene 19: Tunnel
The Doctor smirks.

DOCTOR: Like a charm!

He rubs his hands together.

Scene 20: Station
The Cybermen start to climb the crane.

RORY: Will! Now's your chance!

WILL: I don't know if I can!

RORY: Just do it!

The Cybermen look behind them. A hook attached to a rope pierces one of the 80s Cybermen, now in pain, and Will, holding onto the other end, pulls it back to the floor. It smashes on the ground.

RORY: You did it!

WILL: I did it!

More Cybermen start to approach him.

WILL: Oh, what did I do?

Will starts to back away.

Scene 21: Cybership
The Cyberplanner looks around.

CYBERPLANNER: What is taking so long?

The Cybermats return into the room, charging at the Cyberplanner.

CYBERPLANNER: Where is the power-Aaah!

The cybermats fire beams of electricity at the Cyberplanner. He keels to the floor, as the two time travellers run in.

DOCTOR: Meta-static energy! You didn't stand a chance!

CYBERPLANNER: Help me!

DOCTOR: Begging for mercy? That's not like you! Unless… you didn't have your emotions fully removed?

CYBERPLANNER: What are you waiting for? Grab them!

DOCTOR: Oho, this is rich!

CYBERPLANNER: I said grab them!

DOCTOR: Sorry, cybermats have frozen the joint circuits in your friends. They're temporarily paralysed.

FCYBERMAN: Let me go!

MCYBERMAN: Let me go!

CYBERMAN: Delete! Dele-Let me go.

CYBERPLANNER: What!?

AMY: Whoopsy!

Scene 22: Station
Another crate hits the Cybermen near Will.

RORY: You good?

WILL: Just about!

RORY: Then keep getting these guys on me!

Rory opens the crane door, hitting a Flood Cyberman's faces and knocking him off. He closes it again.

Scene 23: Cybership
The Cyberplanner scowls.

CYBERPLANNER: I don't understand, how is this happening?

DOCTOR: Easy answer - you went against me. And all of you should know - that's something you never want to do.

The Doctor takes out a pocket device and flicks a few switches on the side, aiming it at the beacon.

DOCTOR: Come on, open up! Let's be getting you, void spot!

The Doctor frowns.

DOCTOR: It's not working, the beacon's not strong enough!

The Doctor looks down.

DOCTOR: I don't know what to...aha!

He glares at the Cyberplanner.

DOCTOR: Hmmm…

The Doctor picks up the Cyberplanner.

DOCTOR: Sorry, Cyberplanner. This is the end of the line.

CYBERPLANNER: No!

The Doctor uses the Cyberplanner's hand to smash through the beacon. He is electrocuted, and the Doctor jumps back as the scream deafens them.

Scene 24: Station
The Cybermen are just below Rory.

WILL: There are too many, I can't hold them all off!

RORY: Neither can I!

A Flood Cyberman shoots out a rope at Will, wrapping around him and trapping him.

RORY: Will!

A hand smashes through the window. Suddenly, it disappears.

WILL: What just happened?

The two take a glance at the ladder. They look around.

Scene 25: Cybership
The Cybermen have all disappeared, including the Cyberplanner. There is a sudden and relieving silence that settles in across the construction site and the tunnels. [Track 8 ends]

DOCTOR: Well, let's get out of here!

The Doctor and Amy run out.

Scene 26: TARDIS
[Track 9: Thank You Craig] The trio return inside.

RORY: Aren't we going to say goodbye to Will?

DOCTOR: I'm sure he's got a lot on his plate.

AMY: He'll want you to clear up, won't he?

DOCTOR: Yeah, probably. You know what? Why don't you go home for a bit? I got one of the Cybermats, and I'm not picking up any more Elite activity on their wavelength.

RORY: You sure?

DOCTOR: If I need you, I'll call you.

AMY: Are you okay?

DOCTOR: Of course I am. 2016 it is!

RORY: Perhaps we can go and see Dad properly now.

AMY: That's a good idea...and throw out all the stuff that'll be rotting in our fridge…

RORY: Ugh.

Amy and Rory laugh amongst themselves. The Doctor presses a few buttons. On the scanner is lines of code from the Cybermat, but one date stands out:

2016.

The Doctor looks at Amy and Rory, concerned, but pulls the handbrake. [Track 9 ends]
