It was a hot summer day at the Xavier Mansion and Logan and Kitty were chatting in the kitchen, but it was starting to get a little noisy when the fifth student in the last five minutes decided to get some lemonade or some ice cream. They decided to continue their conversation outside, where they thought it would be more quiet, but they were mistaken. The New Mutants were the middle of a water balloon fight.
Rahne was in wolf form, running away from Amara; Xi'an and Doug were throwing balloons at each other; and Bobby, Sam, Warlock and Danny were ganging up on Illyana, who kept teleporting out of the balloons' way.
Logan and Kitty were watching from the door.
"Aren't they a little old to be playing with water balloons?"
"Come on Logan, you're never too old to have fun."
As soon as Kitty finished her sentence, a balloon hit her from above. She looked up and saw a portal closing, then turned back at the New Mutants. Everyone was looking at Illyana, who was rolling on the floor laughing.
Kitty smiled.
"Oh, this is war!"
She ran at full speed towards her roommate, grabbing the balloon Bobby was holding out for her, and jumped at where the blonde was lying. Illyana rolled out of the way and grabbed more balloons.
A few seconds later several balloons started floating and flying in every direction. Logan looked to his left and saw Rachel joining the fight.
Everyone was laughing and running, until the sky suddenly turned black.
"So, you want to get wet?"
Ororo had come outside, and with a huge grin she raised her arms. A torrential rain started falling.
They all looked at each other, and in a silent agreement and with huge smiles, they threw everything they had at her, but she easily deflected the balloons with a gust of wind.
Then one single balloon hit her in the back of the head. She turned around surprised and saw Logan grinning at her.
She smiled back at him.
"Aren't you a little old to be playing with water balloons?"
"Nah, you're never too old to have fun."
