A/N: Syrus/Sho's birthday is coming on Friday! And what better way for Jaden/Judai to give him not one, but two birthday surprises for his friend/lover like a beautiful homemade necklace... and a secret garden that no one in Duel Academy (not even Dr. Crowler) knew about except Jaden/Judai, who believes to be the first student to find it just for Syrus/Sho's birthday.

Today was Syrus' birthday, and everyone has been planning to celebrate it with him all week. Well, all except Jaden, who had been quiet all day, and he didn't even talk to Syrus when he was at his birthday party in the Obelisk Blue dorm that dusk, which hurt him a bit.

Finally that evening, Syrus let out a sigh and headed into his dorm room to rest, a frown still on his face, when he saw something on top of his writing desk. "Huh? What's that?" he asked, as he walked towards it and found a gift box and a card that was written from… Jaden! Syrus' face turned a slight red and he smiled as he pressed the card to his chest. Oh Jaden, you do remember! He thought happily, as Syrus flipped open the card where a message was written in it:

"Dear Syrus,

Happy birthday, and sorry that I have been ignoring you all day. I've made a gift for you that's inside the present box I left in your room to make it up to you. Plus, I have a surprise waiting for you outside, if you come out and follow me. Just be quick before curfew starts. Yours truly, Jaden Yuki."

"Jaden made a gift for me?" Syrus questioned, which was strange for him as he knew Jaden never made anything for anyone's birthday, only bought something. But Syrus just shrugged and began unwrapping the present, then opened the box to reveal what was inside it: a silver chain with a beautiful blue quartz crystal and a wisteria flower trapped inside a miniature globe filled with clear resin.

Seeing that gift made Syrus blush when he looked down at it and smiled. "Thank you Jaden…" he whispered, almost close to tears but held them back just enough to put the necklace on, and just in time to hear a thrown pebble tap on the glass doors outside of the balcony when Syrus heard it.

As he walked to the doors, Syrus opened them and looked down from the balcony to see Jaden waving up at him.

"Hey Syrus!" he called, "Are you ready yet?" Seeing his friend down there made Syrus smile more as he called back down, "Yeah Jay! I'll be right there!" Then he made his way through inside the building until he finally made it outside and out of breath. "I'm here Jaden." Syrus looked up at Jaden with his eyes twinkling with excitement.

Jaden noticed the necklace dangling from the bluenette's neck. "So you are, and I see you're wearing the necklace I made." Jaden sent Syrus a grin as his friend blushed and tapped his fingers together. "Well, yes. I mean, thank you for the gift Jay. I didn't know you were so good at making stuff." This time, Jaden blushed as he heard Syrus say that.

"Well, to be honest, I only made it because I learned it from a video I've been watching for two days, and well, because of your birthday." Jaden cleared his throat and had a smile on his face. "But did you really think that I would forget your birthday, bud?" he asked, teasingly and rubbing Syrus on the head, making him laugh a bit.

"No, of course not!" Syrus replied with a laugh, smoothing his hair just when he remembered why he was out here with Jaden. "So, the surprise… what is it that you wanted to show me Jaden?"

When he heard that question, Jaden's eyes lit up and again, grinned at Syrus as he responded "Ah, you'll see! Come on!", and grabbed Syrus by the hand, making his cheeks grow into a crimson red as he followed the brown haired Slifer to an unknown place that no one knew was there.

As the two made it to their location, Jaden led Syrus to the clear dirt path covered in purple and white petals. "This way now, Sy. Don't be shy." he said to the blushing Obelisk boy, who walked slowly behind and still kept on holding Jaden's hand as the two made their way on the path, which led to a cave that was dark for a second when they entered.

Until when they reached the exit that shone light, Syrus' eyes grew wide with amazement when he saw the most beautiful scene ever: a secret garden full of wisteria flower trees, a waterfall with a rainbow, and a bunch of glistening crystals that grew from the ground. Jaden looked down at Syrus. "Well, whaddaya think? Pretty cool, right?"

Syrus was too lost in the scenery to listen to what Jaden said, but soon found his voice. "Wow… It's beautiful." he breathed, when he suddenly felt his eyes water as tears started flowing out like the waterfall, and Jaden noticed as he heard Syrus sniffling. "Huh? What's wrong Sy? Why're you crying?" he asked worriedly, as he tried to comfort Syrus. "Don't you like it?"

However, Syrus just shook his head and wiped his tears with his sleeve but hid his face with it. "No, I don't like it." he sniffled and Jaden was crestfallen from the response until Syrus took his arm away from his face to reveal a smile and wide eyes that seemed to sparkle when they stared up into Jaden's eyes. "I love it! It's the best birthday gift you've ever given me!"

Then turning to Jaden, Syrus outstretched his arms and pulled him into a tight hug as Jaden blushed from feeling him embrace him. "And to think you've only got one thing for my birthday."

As Syrus began to sob again, only with happiness, Jaden hugged him back and rubbed his back. "It's nothing, Sy. I knew you'd love it here. In fact, I found this place last week and got the crystal and wisteria for your necklace, then thought about bringing you here on your birthday."

The scent of wisteria flowers and the mist from the waterfall filled the air as the two embraced each other. "Really Jay?" asked Syrus, as Jaden nodded. "Yes. I mean, what better way to give you something from nature instead of a store where I have to waste my money on something more valuable?" He replied and shrugged as if it beats him when someone asks that to him.

Syrus looked up at Jaden again with a smile. "Thank you Jay. But you didn't have to give me anything else for my birthday," he responded, "because being with you is the best gift I can receive." Suddenly, Syrus felt Jaden gently place his fingers on his chin up to look him straight in those beautiful brown eyes. "Yes, but there's another thing I want to give you, Sy."

And before Syrus knew it, Jaden placed his lips onto his and kissed him. Syrus then wrapped his arms around Jaden's neck and kissed him back while the wind blew some wisteria petals to fit in the scene.

After Syrus slowly pulled away from Jaden, he whispered softly to him, "Thanks again, Jaden. I'm glad that I'm here with you." Then resumed hugging him as Jaden hugged back and whispered down to him with a smile, "Happy birthday, Syrus." as they embraced each other in the beauty and serenity of the crystals and wisteria.

THE END

Happy birthday Syrus Truesdale/Sho Marufuji!
